Talking Do *you* wear play clothes?

Most of my clothes are casual. Lately, our afternoons involve chalk, bubbles, sandbox & water with colored ice cubes. During naps I've started putting on really old, not so stylish clothes. Yesterday a friend stopped by to drop off something and I was so embarrassed to open the door! I wear normal shorts in the mornings as we tend to go out.

Just curious if other women are trying to stay out of their neighbor's view, too

Yes! To run errands I wear different clothes than at home. I change into running shorts, tshirt, tank top and half the time no bra or sports/nursing bra with a tiny nursing babe.

When I know we are going to be inside playing, I wear leggings and t-shirts, hair in a pony. Anytime we go out and play, or even play in the year, I try to be more presentable. Still casual clothes, but more put together. Our houses are close together and whenever we're outside, it is very social and there are other people out too.

Ditto. However, there's been plenty of times that I've been outside with mismatched, unflattering, old clothes on and I know my neighbors (especially the women who just get home from work and are in cute trendy nice clothes) think I'm a weirdo. LOL But we're all friends and they've seen me dressed nicely so I'm not worried about it.

Yes. I clip my hair up out of my eyes, wear fleece pants (I'm always cold) and a fleece vest over a long-sleeved shirt and no bra. In fact, I just got home and I want to go change into them before too much longer.

I wear jeans and cotton shirts every day. They are presentable but unimportant and bought second hand so I do not care if they get stained, ripped or dirty.

Yes. If we are going to be messy or if it is really hot out, I will wear an old ribbed tank or old t-shirt that I don't care if it gets stained. It's more like stuff I would wear if I wear to exercise (and I have never been the type to wear fashionable workout clothes!).

I dress comfortably at home. Mismatched, comfy clothes and slippers. My time at home is spent playing with the kids and cleaning. No sense in wearing something I would want to get paint or bleach on! When I leave the house to take P to school, or run to the store I put on jeans and a nicer shirt. My neighbors see me in "comfy" clothes more than anything else, but if they think anything other than what a fun mom playing in the dirt with her kids then thats on them!

If were bumming it at the house, I am usually in PJs and most often with no bra on

Hair clipped to the side, out my my face, hair pulled back, no makeup, old and dirty clothes all combined with hole filled pants. Yeah, I just don't care anymore! I used to be concerned about how I looked to others. Now, I just make sure my butt of my pants don't have a hole in them. (and if the pants are black, I might just wear black underwear so I can still wear them). I live in a pretty rural area. However we have tons of people on our land to play disc golf so I am not only scene but talked to. Oh well! I do wear a bra since the girls would be way to wild unleashed.

I wear nice clothes to church and if I know I've got a meeting at the school. Otherwise it's jeans and a t-shirt, sweatshirt is always in the car to throw on-we go from sun to cloudy and cool all day this time of year. It's not uncommon for me to be seen around town in my turquoise mud boots with a bandana over my hair, either. I like to be able to grab a bit of nice weather and go out and garden on the drop of a hat without wasting what can often end up being just fifteen minutes of sun.

I spend a lot of time in yoga/lounge pants and t-shirts or tanks. I only tend to dress nicer if we are going to see friends or something similar.

I have fallen into "frumpy mom" zone with my clothes. After a year of being at too high a weight and now pregnant I just don't even care what I look like anymore. In fact just today I was thinking that I really would like to focus on losing weight and getting in shape after the baby is born because I am SO TIRED of not having pride in the way I look. I leave the house in clothes that are stained, ripped, uncool,....I just don't care. Not that I care what others think - it's the pride thing that bothers me.

That said, if I felt comfortable in my body I would still be casual - jeans, yoga pants or sweats and a t-shirt. But they might be cuter trendy ones than what I have now. Sadly lots of times I just pick up off the floor what I had on yesterday

Yoga pants & nicer t shirt everywhere. Once the kids are getting ready for bed, I put comfy pjs, take out my contacts and put my glasses. I wear jeans once in a while and business casual to church.

Currently, I'm fashionably attired in my pregnancy pants (not pregnant) and a T that shrank in the wash and is too short as a result, accessorized by a smattering of dog hair. Thankfully, we have one nearby neighbor, and I don't think this would even register with him.

This was me. Maybe even worse at times since I had also been known to just continue to wear what I wore to bed all day (I don't actually go anywhere like that though!)... I'm not pregnant right now and have finally gotten back down to close to my pre-pregnancy weight...so I am feeling a little better about myself and can fit in a lot of my old clothes... Now my problem is I just can't throw away any of my clothes and I won't buy new ones (I do buy from second hand stores).

But to answer the question... I do not wear my nice clothes to play...this has a lot to do with the fact that I don't have to many nice outfits so I save them for when I am going in public (For me public is going to the store or something... I live in the country so I'll go in my yard in whatever)... but even if I had lot of nice clothes I'm sure I would still wear "play clothes"

Yes I do but, I attempt to wear makeup daily even just a bit. I love makeup. I have tons of silly t-shirts.

I'm a jeans and t kinda girl. I don't dress any differently when I go out vs. stay in. Some days, I stay in PJs though, but that is rare. Like, Saturdays only unless I have to leave the house.

I wear scrubs 5 days a week.... So when I'm not in scrubs I wear jeans (or shorts) and a t shirt. I own very few nice, dressy outfits. I wouldn't have anywhere to wear them to? Granted, my jeans are not ugly, holey ones and my shirts are usually v neck. Im 20 wks pregnant and yoga capris are my bff!

I really like to be comfy and if I'm home and (especially) working, I'll have on comfy pants... but I typically try to at least have my hair and makeup done. I find that I feel better about myself when I put nicer things on and I usually have something cute on, even if it's just jeans and a cute top, when going anywhere. I rarely go out with less. I think my favorite thing right now are dresses!! Super cute and COMFY!

In winter, I'm usually in jeans and a long-sleeved t-shirt regardless. In summer, it's shorts or capris and a t-shirt. I'm pretty casual, and none of my wardrobe is so important that it can't get a little dirt/paint on it. I will throw on a bit of mascara if I'm going out to a playdate (that's the extent of my makeup collection anyway !

We were at a playgroup this am and I noticed that the other 3 moms were all wearing black yoga pants. maybe that's the secret to avoiding stains. I don't mind getting dirty but there is something about bubble juice mixed with chalk that has stained 2 of my shorts. I'm also not somebody who goes thru laundry looking for potential stains before I wash. It's 88 here today- so I think I would be so hot walking around in black pants. Luckily most of my neighbors are at work during the day so I'm back in my sweatpant cutoffs!

I have home clothes and clothes to go outside. I'll second black yoga pants - they are comfortable, usually easy to clean and yes, you can't see stains as easily! I was teaching mommy & me art class with tots for 12 weeks and I wore dark clothes that I didn't care for that much and told moms to also wear something they don't mind getting stained and aprons on their kiddos.

I am often in black yoga pants with either a workout top or a t-shirt if I am not actually going to exercise. I wear a lot of jeans with sweatshirts and tees too. On occasion I will "dress up" for the fun of it, just because I feel like I need to look more presentable to feel better about my appearance.

However I am currently in the "I'm pregnant and showing but only enough to look like I gained weight" phase so I have been dressing extra frumpy since my regular clothes don't fit and I am still a bit small for most of my maternity clothes...

I definitely have house clothes... mostly like work-out/yoga type stuff. But I need to get some better play clothes for when we go to the park.

"active" clothes (shorts + tank or cargo pants + synthetic long sleeve shirt) are my default choice of clothes when taking the kids to parks or just being out and about.
I look like I'm going for a hike almost all the time

I only put on nice(r) clothes when we go to more dressy family gatherings or friends bbq/playdates.

This is so me too!! In fact today I was home all day so I went from the set of pjs I woke up in to a clean set of pjs after I showered.

When I leave the house with Grayson I am usually in jeans and a T-shirt. In the summer I am sure that will be a tank top and capris or shorts with flip flops.
