    Default Teething! Help please!

DD is teething like a bear She got a fever of 102 on Friday, which went down to normal before she went to bed at 7:00 that night, was real draggy Saturday and did not feel much like eating but would drink and she got this rash, looks like red dots, on her bottom and a couple under her mouth. She had a low grade fever Saturday afternoon which went down pretty quickly after Tylenol. By bedtime she was starting to really not want to eat or drink, seemed like her mouth was hurting her. Sunday (yesterday) I was able to get her to eat ok when I gave her soft things like yogurt, applesauce, and some diced peaches. She really did not want to drink by bedtime at all though.

My concern is that when she got up an hour ago her diaper was completely dry. She is normally a very heavy wetter, as a matter of fact it took me some time to work it so her diaper would contain her pee overnight. She did have a wet diaper before bed, and I have asked daycare to contact me if she does not have a wet diaper before lunch. How soon should I consider taking her in if she is not wetting?

Those are NOT symptoms of teething. Sounds more like a virus of some kind to me. You need to get her to drink somehow, but I'm afraid I have no advice as to how.

That doesn't sound like teething to me either. Sorry. Fever of 102 is not teething. Definitely keep trying to get the fluids in until she is wetting again. Try some pedialyte.

I agree, does not sound like teething. For both of my kids, teething caused extra drool and saliva, so even when they were too fussy to eat much, they had frequent wet diapers. I would call the pedi if she's not feeling better.

I would call now if she went all night w/o peeing. We just had a similar issue and our ped said to bring in ds after he went 8 hrs. I'd offer Popsicles, crushed ice-whatever novel item that might get her to drink. Hope she feels better soon!

I would call the DR now and see if they can get her in. If it's strep you'll want to catch it ASAP, it definitely sounds like her throat hurts a lot.

Thanks ladies, I did take her in just before lunch today. She has hand, foot, and mouth disease They gave her an antibiotic cream for her bottom, and said to keep her on Tylenol and fluids. She is feeling much better tonight, I fed her some Italian Ice this afternoon and she was able to eat a bit tonight. I just put her down, hoping she sleeps ok tonight.

Uh oh. I'm happy she is ok but hfm is no fun. Glad you updated. I was so stressed when I couldn't get one of my guys to drink last week.
