    hey,

this is my first month of bc pills, and I have been having unprotected sex. we used the "pull and pray"method. I am a week late now, and ive taken two tests. one the start of the week, and one just now. (thurs) and both are negative. so i'm about a week late. Im really not sure what to think. Pre-med classes dont tell you how to think through this one... thanks for any opinions.

The 1st month of BC pills I believe they recommend using protection. Have you reached the pills that should start your period? If so, you would be late and a pregnancy should show up when you test. Wait another week and retest...if still negative you need to talk with your OB about what is going on. Stress among other things can cause you to miss a period.

Well, anything's possible if you're having unprotected sex. The pull out method doesn't work at all, sorry. That said, coming off of birth control can totally mess with your cycle for 6-12months after stopping it. Stress can also effect your cycle. I'd wait another week and test again, and if its still negative your period still hasn't showed up, maybe make an appointment with your doctor to figure out what's going on. And if you don't want to be pregnant, I'd get back on birth control if you are not already pregnant. Best of luck.

Ohh...that changes it! You probably don't know your cycle yet and Adahaferas comment below is accurate. If you don't want to be pregnant then you should find another form of birth control.

"Pull and pray" is NOT a method. If you aren't ready for pregnancy, you need to be using some real form of contraceptive if you aren't going to be on the pill anymore.
