    Question Sick of cyst pain

Any ideas on natural ways to help reduce ovarian or Fallopian cysts? The cramping is awful, and this is my 5th month of this "cycle" of cysts. I'm very uncomfortable all the time. I have an u/s Wednesday to check them again but today I'm super crampy. (just finishing AF, btw...)

What are your experiences with having cysts removed too????

Exercise has been the best natural remedy for mine but sometimes I still have to resort to a pain medication. And a heating pad is also super helpful.

I've had a cyst removed, it was a simple laparoscopic outpatient surgery. But I hate, hate, hate surgery, so even though I've had at least 5 confirmed cysts since then (yes, I keep making new ones), I refuse to have surgery again. Because I wont have another surgery and I will not stay on birth control pills, my OB has stopped following up with the cysts to see if they resolve. It was just too much- I literally had another new cyst every single time I went back in for a follow up ultrasound I'm just supposed to go in if I am in major pain I can't handle, or straight to the ER if it's extreme pain and I can't walk, throwing up, belly swelling, etc.

I have not found anything natural that has actually helped. I don't even think the birth control pills helped-- I grew another cyst the month I was on them (progestogen only pill because I am still BFing, but the pills made me depressed and have horrible, bad, bad thoughts). So now I just deal. I hope that maybe it is BFing related in some way (hormones) and that when my DD weans this roller coaster will end.

ETA exercise is difficult for me when I have cysts. The bouncing with walking at a quick pace or jogging jars my guts and causes so much pain I have to stop. I've even had it happen with bike riding. I can do Pilates/yoga type exercise without many issues.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. This is like insult to injury having these things...another reason why we are biologically punished for being able to bear children! Men have no idea about any of this stuff...

Yoga focuses you on breathing and stretching muscles, your abdominal and hips included and much like childbirth contractions, it helps me to breathe through the pain. I also have a very painful first day of AF (pain meds, curled up in a ball kind of pain) and I'm finding that the more active I am, the more dedicated exercise I get, the less painful my periods are becoming.

Hi ladies! Update: recheck on Wednesday. Para ovarian cyst on right either on or in the tube, but adjacent to the ovary...therefore "para." she still doesn't see anything on left, but I know there is one there somewhere...she couldn't even find my left ovary last time...because it is not in the same orientation as the right ovary.

The one on the right is over 2cm. I'm waiting to hear back from DR, but pelvic pain is significant.

I'm sorry about the pain- I've been there many times. As the the size of cysts grows, so does the likelihood of losing all or part of an ovary if it is removed, so I would ask a lot of questions if your dr seems to be heading in that direction. (I saw a TTC ticker on your sig, so I'm assuming you want your ovaries). My only other thought as to natural interventions is that is that acupuncture can be used for that type of pain. It probably depends on your insurance but it might be a way to get some relief as long as your ovary isn't twisting or anything.

    Good luck!

That is a very very good point Flynn! Thanks for helping me put all of this into perspective.

How are you feeling? I noticed you were/are getting ready to ovulate according to your ticker and that is always when I have the most significant pain, especially if I already have a cyst present. usually days 8-12 are the worst. Often I have to take ibuprofen just to get around and chase after my DD.

Thanks for asking! I'm ok. I've actually been laid up with a stomach virus over the last 3 days, so I've been taking lots of Tylenol and having lots of abdominal pain...I'm taking this month off from TTC, and going to chart anyway. We will see if things stay cyclical so we can plan for May!!! I so appreciate you thinking about me!
