    # 1 was a surprise, but Elliott took a year to get pregnant with one miscarriage in there( so 5 months TTC, got pregnant, m/c, and then 6 more months TTC with late ovulation/short luteal phases). This babe was also a surprise.

    #2 - 28 months, m/c
Still TTC so I guess it's been 9.5 months since the m/c

They both took a little over a year and a half, both with 2 losses before getting pregnant with them.

DD was a surprise and when she was a year we had another surprise pregnancy that ended in miscarriage.

#2 took 6 months after I had an IUD removed but I got pregnant in 1 month when I told DH that we would have to figure out some permanent form of BC if it didn't happen soon. Apparently with him 'trying' was stressful, but when I added the additional stress of an ultimatum he could finally get serious.

How exciting that you're going for your second!! Good luck to you!

    1st: about 3 months (ended in m/c)
2nd: 9 months of actively trying
3rd: Found out I was pg a week after we discussed trying for another baby in a few months (surprise!)

With DD1, we tried for 12 months on our own and then another 6 months with fertility treatment before getting pg. DD2 was a surpise about 3 months after getting AF back post partum and while BF.

#1 3 months of NPP and got pregnant once I used ovulation monitor
    #2 Right away
#3 1 month (ended in miscarriage)
#4 5 months and three of those using a Clearblue monitor a friend loaned me. (still waiting to get results of how this pregnancy will go)

Since my first two are 20 months and my third pregnancy ended in miscarriage I got so stressed and so depressed everytime I got AF every month. I felt like this future baby was just coming later than s/he should based on those who have children born now who are in our life. It was stressing me out so badly so I completely understand where you are coming from.

wow~ a lot of variety! How lucky some women are to get pregnant right away.
Big hugs to those who are trying to conceive still, I hope it happens soon! I can understand how difficult and frustrating it must be to try for a year +

With Tyler it was about 20 cycles with 3 miscarriages, 5 Clomid cycles and finally got pregnant on our first cycle of Femara.
With Grayson we did 5 Femara cycles, 2 IUIs with injectibles, and got pregnant while we were on a break from meds. It was a total of 9 cycles I think though we NPP for 8 months before that.
We are NPP now but I am hoping if we have another it's not until Grayson is around 2 or 3.

First was 18 months (a year without knowing I have PCOS, and 6 months on Metformin).

Second was 5 months of not preventing, then 1 month of Metformin!

Thank you for the replies! It's making more sense to me now...

I found this on a pregnancy site, makes me feel better about it taking a while!

    Breaking Down The Figures

Research says on average, 20% of couples don't get pregnant in their first year of trying. However, 95% of couples will get pregnant within two years. If you have been trying for a few months already, you may be feeling somewhat despondent. Don't. Around a quarter of all couples having unprotected sex will get pregnant in the first month. Within 6 months, 60% of these couples will be pregnant. After 9 months, this figure increases to three quarters of all couples. Finally, within 18 months, 90% of couples will be expecting a baby

I think it can depend on your age also. Back before we knew we had MF IF we tried for a good 18 months before getting any testing done. I was 28 when we started to get testing done, and of course I did all my testing...which came back fine, before having DH do a simple SA. Your fertility can take a huge dive when you hit your 30's. I would suggest for anyone who has been trying longer than 6 months move on to getting some testing done if you are older than 28. Good luck!

We tried for 1 year before starting fertility treatments. Took 3 cycles of fertility treatments to get pregnant, and then we miscarried early. We took 3 months off of everything (including sex) and the very next time we "tried" we got pregnant with our son.

    Pregnancy 1: 2 months (miscarriage)
    Pregnancy 2: 2 months (miscarriage)
DD: 12 months, with 2 of those preventing because they were trying to figure out why I kept having miscarriages.
Hopefully TTC #2 Fall 2013! Missing Baby and New Baby, 2/2010 and 6/2010

It took us 1 year to conceive DD#1 and 18 months for DD#2. With #2 I temped, charted, noted cycle details, the works. It can be very frustrating while waiting for your bfp...I hope you get yours soon!

We haven't tried for neither baby. But I have a few Chinese friends who can only have 1 baby and they planned trying in certain years. The recent one who had her baby last December tried for a year. Both were healthy, had all check-ups etc. She was utterly upset that she couldn't get pregnant from the first time.
So it is different for everyone.
Fingers crossed for you. Hope you get your BFP soon!
