Default What do you tell your LO about morning sickness?

Right now, I feel like a terrible mom because I'm so sick and so tired that I can barely do anything but read with and hug my 2.5 yr old. I've told him that my tummy isn't feeling well but I don't really know what else to say to explain the many hrs on the couch and the gagging and throwing up. Yesterday, the poor kid said, "Mama, you're feeling better. Let's go to the park" because he's so desperate to get out of the house. I was just wondering what you say to your LO to explain away the strange behavior. I don't want to tell him yet that a baby is coming because my EDD is so far off.

My daughter just turned 2 in January so she wasn't as old as your son when I was having morning sickness but I just did what you did and told her that i wasn't feeling well and needed to rest. Then I just made it a point to do anything I could with her in the few moments that I was feeling alright... like if you're having a good few minutes, make sure to take him to the park right then even if he's not asking for it. But sorry - that's the only advice I can give you - good luck!!

I have DH pick up the slack. I also say: I am tired, I am not feeling well. Honestly, I've been allowing more tv than I usually would bc of it. I can usually handle a trip to teh playground, but I sit and watch instead of interact as I usually would. I am SO hoping to feel better soon, I don't want to spend my whole pregnancy like this....

Totally agree with this... now that I"m 8.5 months I'm totally loosing it again and just can't keep up with her - so she's back to getting a good amount of TV. Luckily the weather has turned so we are outside a lot -she loves running around our backyard (it's fenced) and I can just sit and watch her.

Parker was about 18 months when I got pregnant with Boden. I didn't throw up at all but I HORRIBLE headaches fro 8 weeks-19 weeks. We watched alot of tv too. I just had to lay on the couch and I couldn't do much. But when I was feeling good (morning time) we would do whatever I could handle...park, grocery store, story time, etc. But if you're not up for any of that don't worry about it. Like a pp said...have DH pick up the slack. Parker was always so excited when DH came home and they would play and do alot of the more "active" things.
