Default Because of your faith - you are healed...

I am so struggling with this right now. To be honest, I have always had a hard time sorting through the scriptures and beliefs that if we have faith we will be healed. I have a niece who is very seriously ill, and her parents believe VERY strongly that she WILL be healed. They believe that because of their faith in God, and understanding of His will that will be healed.

I am reading through the bible, and I am in the Luke right now - so I have read over and over the many stories where the words go something like "because of your faith, you are healed", etc. I trust God's word to be truth 100%.

    I have more of a I have-faith-that-God-is-powerful-enough-to-do-whatever-he-wants-and-I-pray-that-it-is-in-His-will-to-heal type of a faith.

    Any thoughts?

I am praying to God to help me in this area, and if nothing else, I do know God loves to reveal Himself to us!

What have you all learned about this?

I have seen too many examples of people with strong faith who were not healed. Not people who say they had faith, people who absolutely lived it. So no, in my experience that has not been true that their faith spared them from suffering or death.

This. I absolutely have faith in the power of God to heal and save. But in my very own life I have had three potential miracles not come to pass. If I were to believe it was because I did not have enough faith, and if I had more faith it would have been different, then I don't know how I would live with myself or go on. I don't believe man has the power to change God's plans. I do believe there are certain instances where there is a fork in the road and which way a life goes can be predicated upon choices we make. But not every instance in life is that way. How many times have saving miracles happened in the lives of people who have no faith? Every day. If healing was based on a level of belief none of those would happen.

Jessica, I am sorry about your niece. I can only speak for myself, when my mom was diagonosed with cancer, she had faith she would be healed. She had many many family members and friends praying for her, daily. Sadly, it didn't help.

This is how I view it, too. And I too have known very godly people who were not healed. And we are assured that in this world we will suffer. So, I see the tension between healing and suffering. But ultimately, all believers will be "healed" with our resurrected bodies, right? So, even though we suffer and die, our resurrection is with Christ and we can look forward to that.
