    Default Ectopic Pregnancy Question

I was diagnosed with ectopic pregnancy December 28 and was given methotrexate on January 6 and subsequently had lowering hcgs each Friday afterwards. On January 27th my hcg was 0 and on the 29th I had sex and the condom broke and I was sent for one follow up blood test on February 6 to make sure it was still zero but my hcg level was three, could I be pregnant? The dr told me that my period should come 4 weeks after the zero result but that every woman varies. I have been feeling bloated and my breasts are sore but no other symptoms, I'm very confused and any advice or experience would be appreciated.

HCG under 5mIU is negative for pregnancy. Some women vary between 0-5 in their levels, which could be what happened. Will your doctor do a follow up beta for you just to be sure? It is slightly possible that you caught a pregnancy right after implantation, but I think that's fairly unlikely. I'm so very sorry for your loss!!!

Thank you I wanted that baby so bad, the dr said to wait and see what happens being so soon that no implantation has even most likely occurred yet so they want to wait a few weeks and see what happens, I guess I'm just terrible at waiting.

I totally get it hon and I'm so sorry you had to go through that heartache! We had five losses trying for this baby. Did the doc give you the green light to try again or did he/she advise waiting a few cycles? I would probably get a pregnancy test to ease my mind. If your hcg was 3 yesterday, then I would think a test like Answer or First Response would give you a positive by Monday.

My symptoms for ectopic pregnancy was extreme cramping on one side and not the other, and bleeding. I thought it was probably a miscarriage but when I told them the cramps were only on one side the dr had an ultrasound ordered and it showed a small mass in my left tube. I don't know if you can tell without a dr telling you and this was my first pregnancy so I'm new to all this. And they do advise waiting for at least two cycles after being given methotrexate because it depletes your folate levels.

I didn't always have cramping but I think that is a common symptom and the no bleeding is a good sign, I don't think around your belly button is something to worry about but you might want to check with a dr., but I wish you the best of luck with your pregnancy and hope everything is healthy and happy.
