Default I'm losing weight.... can't force myself to eat enough(x-post in August)

I started this pregnancy at 135lbs and was up to 140 a couple weeks ago. At my last appt almost 2 weeks ago, I had gone down to 138.5, but it didn't worry them because weight can fluxuate depending on water retention and all. I've been having a lot of issues with my gag reflex and dry heaving for the past couple weeks and have been basically having to FORCE myself to eat. I'm not eating NEARLY enough and it's starting to show in my weight, I weighed myself today and i'm down to 133lbs

Just thinking about food is making me not hungry and pretty much the only thing I can eat right now is BRAN FLAKES. Seriously?? Bran Flakes is it?!?!?! I'm taking my extra calories wherever I can, like whole milk instead of 1% but i'm running out of ideas and obviously, my ideas aren't helping!!!

I found myself craving boiled cabbage today, so I ran out to get everything for it It's done cooking now, and the smell is everywhere in my house. It's making me sick I've been heaving in the bathroom all night

I honestly wouldn't be too concerned this early in a pregnancy. Hopefully your nausea will pass soon and you'll be eating normally again. If you are really worried, you can try anti-nausea medication to see if it will help. Has you doctor said anything to you?

Seriously, do not worry! I'm a tall girl and started at 120, dropped to 115 during tri 1 and now that I've been able to eat normally, I'm up to 125. You will get it all back and then some. Eat what you can for now (there are a lot worse things than bran flakes!) and don't beat yourself up about something you can't control.

If you can't hold anything down, definitely talk to your dr. though!

With my pregnancy with Mason I lost as much as I gained. I didn't really start gaining until half-way through 2nd trimest.

I'm really struggling with eating this time around. It was hard enough to get weight on with one in there but three is driving me .
Try Chocolate Ensure. If you drink it cold and add a tiny bit of chocolate syrup to it, it's not so bad. I take it in two chugs and then brush my teeth because I hate the slimey feeling. And it's a 250 - 350 Calorie boost.

I know how frustrating the weight game is.

With Hayden I gained 70+lbs and I vowed that I would watch what I eat this time and not gain an excessive amount of weight. And I don't even have any nausea, just immediate gagging and dry heaving which is brought on by ANYTHING. Smells, sights, even just a thought can trigger it. I WANT to eat! The only thing I was able to actually eat today was salad with cheese and lettuce, couldn't do ranch because the sight of it made me gag. I love ranch!

I went through this with my first pregnancy and she was fine, I started out at 150, lost 25 lbs in the 1st trimester and was 135lbs when I had her. But it still bothers me because when I don't eat, I have no energy. I'm still hungry, so it's waking me up all through the night and I haven't got a good nights sleep in DAYS! I have toddler I have to keep up with and no sleep plus no food is literally making me sick. I have a Dr's appt on friday, so i'm trying to tough it out until then.

And my DH saying "just force yourself" isn't exactly helping because even thinking about food being forced down my throat makes the yakkity yak come back

And I guess technically, i'm a tall girl, too. I'm 5'7", taller than average.

Could you add in an iron suppliment? I take the slow fe & it really seems to help with energy. Not so much that I feel overly energized, just fights the blah feeling from eating what sounds good vs. Healthy/well rounded.

Beware, as much as slow fe can help, for some it makes you more sick. I had to drop it even before pregnancy because it just did not sit well. It is all very personal though and different for everyone.

Have you tried lemonade or lemon flavored candies? That was my saving grace when nothing else was good. I hope you're able to find at least ONE thing that settles decently!

Herbal lemon tea and that's pretty much it. I tried lemon drops and maple drops, but they increase my saliva production which makes me gag and heave even more. I've been able to eat a couple bananas and a few slices of colby jack cheese this morning, too.

I really wouldn't worry! I think you're doing good things now - making sure to eat WHATEVER sounds good, whenever it sounds good, and taking in extra calories where ever you can. Remember your body is going to feed that baby first so do whatever you need to do to get thru until the m/s lets up. You'll gain weight in the coming weeks, trust me! lol

I only gained 1.5lbs this time in the first 16 WEEKS of my pregnancy and the doc wasn't concerned at all. It always catches up.

    Feel better!

This is exactly what I was going to say! I lost almost 15lbs in my first tri/early second tri with Ava.
