Exclamation Frustrated I really don't know, could I be pregnant?

I am currently 22 years old. I got off birth controll back on September 1st of 2011 because I was really not comfortable with it when I researched more about how it can really affect your body. So since then my first period off of BC started October 1st, the next started 44 days later on November 14th, the next was 34 days later on December 18th. I haven't had one since. My husband and I had intercourse on January 8, 2012. And I'm wondering if we concieved.

So it's already frustrating since it went from 44 days apart to 34 days apart, I figured maybe it'd go down again or stay at 34 days apart. Well here it is January 26th 39 days since my last period started. I know you could say that maybe it'll just be 44 days again but on the 23rd I had some slight pinkish/brownish discharge and thought I must be starting. Well in all my past periods any blood is there when I wiped my period was going full blown within a few hours; this time nope and before I went to bed the spotting was gone, this has NEVER happened to me before. The 24th my husband and I had intercourse and there was a little blood and after cleaning up there was nothing. So now it's two days since then and no spotting, no blood, just discharge. I'm very confused. I took a pregnancy test (from the Dollar Tree, don't know if that really matters but I've been looking into how different tests have different sensitivity levels) this morning and it was negative. I'm confused and a little frustrated. I bought some EPT digital tests and have decided that if I don't start I will test again on the 1st of February (since January 31st is 44 days since my last period). And if it's still negative I'm going to go to the doctor.

Does anyone have any advice or insight? I really am so frustrated and I know that waiting is the most annoying part. It's kind of driving me crazy lol I just don't want to get my hopes up that I am pregnant and then be crushed.

    Thanks,

    Jess

I'm sorry - that is frustrating!

Only suggestion I have is that you "should" be able to test for pregnancy 2 weeks after you think conception may have occurred. It is kind of difficult when AF is showing up at different times but that's not uncommon. In fact, I think there's a lot more women that go 30-40 days between periods than the typical 28 days. Without the birth control, it is still "normal" for AF to vary by a few days, or even a week, each month.

Getting off of hormonal birth control can really mess with your cycles for up to a year after getting off of it, so it's normal for your cycles to be different lengths at this point. I'd wait a little longer and then test again. If AF doesn't show and you don't get a positive test, then yes, you should go to the doctor to see if something else may be going on. Are you trying to get pregnant? Best of luck!

Thanks guys. My husband and I will be married for 3 years in April and we're not actively trying to concieve but right now we're more kind of if it happens it happens. But I've definitely been feeling baby fever and am hoping often enough that when my period does start I'm a little bummed. But I will definitely test again on the 1st of February and go to the doctor if it's still negative. Thanks again for the support
