Hitchens :(
Such a great mind---no longer with us....
I had the good fortune to hear him speak. My husband was able to meet him and talk to him and have one of his books signed- about a year and a half ago. My stalker DH went outside after the debate (instead of queing up for a signature at the table)bc he knew Hitchens would be out there smoking a cigarette...so he was able to talk to him for a bit.
Oh, no! I didn't hear this news til now! So very sad.
It's very sad. The world could use more people who are fearlessly outspoken about their atheism like him. May he rest in peace... or in whatever state of nothingness he was so comfortable with the idea of.
It makes me very sad. As much as I was annoyed by some of his views (women aren't funny, pro Iraq war), I could only admire him. Especially for his ferocious, smart and common sense defense of atheism. Sad loss.

Absolutely girls! He wasn't perfect, but he was brilliant and fierce.
His articles were always a highlight for me in Vanity Fair, whether I agreed with him or not.
