    Default Just out of curiosity...

Kind of a random question to ask but what the heck, that's why they have these forums right? I've been with my boyfriend for about and 2 years now, and do not use any form of birth control. Im in my 20s and he is just under 10 years older than i am. We have discussed the possibility of having kids but aren't in a rush for that either. Then this week I started to think...if my cycles are generally 29 days, and the start of my last one was January 2...if we had unprotected sex on the 16th, what are the odds of getting pregnant? Like I said earlier if it happens id be nervous yet excited, so would he. And if I didn't want children should have used birth control blah blah blah. More so just wondering what are the chances. No fertility problems with me that I know of. He has 2 kids already.

Any time you have unprotected sex, pregnancy is a possibility.

A normal, healthy couple has a 20% chance, I believe, of getting pregnant each month.

Yeah really I have no idea. 20% seems like a big # then again not all that big either. Thank you

I used this http://www.pregnology.com/ovulating.php to help determine when I was ovulating. It's not as specific as using OPKs or temping, but it gives you an idea of when the chance would be greatest that you would get pregnant. If your cycles are pretty regular, it should be pretty close (it was for me - twice )

They happen like clockwork every month within a day of what I expect and I normally don't track it that closely but after our little "incident" I realized the timing. One site tried to tell me 90% chance of pregnancy but I haven't used birth control for a few years now so that seems insanely high. Thank you

FRER tests are pretty sensitive, I've used one five days before I was supposed to get AF and received a positive. I know some people here have received a positive as soon as 10-12 days DPO. Hope everything works out for you! KUP!

best of luck and you may seriously want the thing about some bc. if you keep having unprotected sex you WILL eventually get pregnant - it's just a matter of how long it will take.

Id rather have a baby than be on bc. Might sound crazy but I've had some bad reactions to everything I've tried. My boyfriend and I have discussed this before so its not a crisis if I am. And we'd be as ready as anyone ttc. Great relationship and communication. We own our house both really good jobs and there's a 5 yr old running around anyway lol so we both know about handling that and having a happy healthy relationship. Its rather exciting actually. Thank everybody for help/input. Ill have to check into those. Wish me luck!
