    Default Bras/Boobs

I am not sure what to get for bras...I need some new ones, I am spilling out of my previous fitting bras 34D by at least 2 cup sizes. I have no idea what to get, how much bigger my boobs will get during pregnancy and if I'll need new bras for breastfeeding--pending that we get that far and things work out with it.

I know I need to be measured but am not sure of where to go. I refuse to go to Victorias Secret though.

I do like lined, full coverage bras otherwise my boobs fall out if I have a demi cup or something.

    Thanks in advance

Do you have Dillards where you are? Or Nordstrom? They are both good for getting measured.

I didn't know Lane Bryant carried bras....I will maybe look online and see what I can come up with. I'm not sure if they will have bands small enough to fit though since I am between 32-34 around.

We have Nordstrom here, we are about 45-60min away from any mall but I can definitely plan on trying to get there after my OB appointment Tues. Thanks for the suggestions!

I go to Maiden Form to be measured. You can do it yourself too if you have a tape measure. Wear your best fitting bra (yes I know that's easier said than done) and measure around the band and the widest part of the bust - make sure the tape is level around. Every inch of difference between the two is a cup size. For example a 34 band and a 38 bust would be a 34D bra.

As for how much more things will change - there's not a whole lot of way to tell. I went down in band sizes and WAY up in cup sizes my first time around - started a 32B and was a 30F by the time I delivered. When I was measured at my biggest while nursing DS I was a 30I (I was living in sports bras because I couldn't find anything that actually fit). Right now my milk supply is pretty shot and I'm 28wks pg again and I'm down to a 30DD again - smallest I've been in over 4 years. My sister was the opposite - her band size went up and her cup size either stayed the same or went down. Her youngest is 2.5 years old and she hasn't nursed in over 1.5yrs and she's still smaller than when she started. She doesn't even wear a bra most of the time anymore because she was only almost a B when she started. For comfort and ease of use and cost effectiveness I would suggest some sports bras and/or some nursing tank tops with the built in bra part till things even out more (the tanks may not fit the whole pregnancy, but they will be wonderful after you deliver - I would suggest the ones from Target). The sports bras CAN sometimes mess with supply for some people so when you start nursing I wouldn't wear them much till your supply stabilizes and you know if you are one of them. I hope that helps.

I'm a 36/38h normally & Lane Bryant doesn't carry my bra size. I have to go to Dillards or Macy's.
I went to the nursing shop at our
hospital & got a couple nursing bras that had some stretch & they got me through.

lane bryant is more for plus sized women... sizes start @ 14 for pants etc... and bras i think begin at a 38 or 40.. so you can get measured there but won't be able to find a bra...
i was a 34 dd pre pregnancy with ds and when i had him and was nursing him i fit a 36 dd nursing bra (no underwire) when i was about 3 month pg this time i was fitted at a 32 DDD but found them all to fit tight around the band. i suggest fitting yourself and going shopping. fit on a few bras in the size that your measurments are and a few around the same size. and don't worry about getting a nursing bra till you are in the 8-9 month... (thats what my dr suggested so that i would have a good fitting bra for nursing)

I'd just do some self measuring now and wait to get measured and buy any nursing bras until after the baby comes and you start nursing... there's a good chance you'll change during the pregnancy and FOR SURE if you nurse... so I wouldn't put too mcuh money into it right now - I'd wait and spend the money on some nice bras when you're nursing... you'll gonna need them then for sure!

Have you even tried the cheap nursing bras at target or motherhood? I never went back to my previous bra size and I spent sooo much on bra's during my first pregnancy that ended up being useless even for nursing... So I wouldn't spend a ton till your baby is about 2-3 months old... then you kinda have an idea of where your going to be for a year or so...

I agree. You are going to change in unpredictable ways. I found actual nursing bras to be less forgiving. Some of the higher end ones are the least helpful for nursing in my experience-especially keep in mind anything with a hard wire that curves upward in the armpit region is NOT a good choice. I had a blockage bc of one of those-it was really deep in there and painful-a nightmare. And that was an expensive "nursing bra". I am much happier personally with my nursing tanks/sports bras during pregnancy and nursing tanks with cloth pads in the beginning. Then once your supply normalizes you can find what fits the new you. GL!

Thanks for the suggestions and tips.

I ended up ordering a few bras that were on sale plus I had a discount code for an extra 10% off. It was still expensive at $60 for 2 IMO but I need something for now, I have nothing that fits and can't go on any more with the bras I do have--they are way too uncomfortable. I know I will probably change sizes again during the pregnancy and again when nursing begins but I can't go another day with an ill fitting bra where half my boob is popping out of because it's too small.

I did try a few of the ones on at Target and the band around the rib part was not wide enough on any of them and my boobs ended up falling out the bottom of the bra.

I ordered these online and the reviews were pretty good for bigger busted women so I hope they work out and fit okay. I liked that they were sized based on S,M,L,XL type and different sizes fit into each category so I know it should fit for a while if my band or cup size changes.
