    Thanks ladies!

It was better yesterday because my sister-in-law FINALLY made it a day where I was there! She showed me how to use some of the machines and that helped. I did a lot of 'strength training' yesterday (for the first time). I'm always intimidated by those machines, cause I don't want to get on them and look like a re-re doing it wrong. I feel better now that I know how to use some of them. I rode 4 miles on the bike, also. Slowly but surely it is getting better. Thanks for asking!

    Good job!

A thought about the machines...can you you tube videos on how to use them? That way you can see someone live action using them and explaining what they are doing.

What's a girl gotta do to keep my thread 'visible'??? ...other than posting every.day! UGH!

Now that I got that out. LOL

Just wanted to share here... (I sent this email to a few friends and my mom, so I'm just copying and pasting)

    Sassy Water -

This is good! I made it last night. I found the idea on pinterest!!! I wanted to know ‘how’ it helped boost weight loss so did some research and found that cucumber & lemon both naturally boost metabolism and mint is a natural appetite suppressant. See the links below! It doesn’t make the water ‘overly’ flavorful, but definitely better than just plain water. Also, I added a packet of Splenda to my 24 oz. cup of it to balance out some of the tartness. TRY IT...it’s pretty inexpensive!

    Sassy+Water+2.jpg

2 Liters of Water, 1 Lemon (sliced thin), 1 Medium Cucumber (sliced thin), 12 Mint Leaves (no stems). Put all in pitcher and steep overnight. Stir, pour, & drink! (...and add Splenda if you need some) ALSO: One teaspoon of grated ginger can be added to ‘soothe the GI tract’, but I didn’t do that (the original recipe I found didn't have it on there) I will be trying it next time, though.

Thanks! Will try this out as well. I agree, this is one of the easier things to do and is cheap

I really like lemon water and grown peppermint in my backyard so this should not be difficult to do. Will probably bring some cut up lemon and mint leaves at work and put them in my bottle at the end of eveyday for the next day.

Weigh-in tomrorow!!! I'm a little anxious both good and bad. Aunt Flo is in town so I may be holding onto some water weight, but I know I've continued to do well with diet & exercise, so it could be either way. I will NOT let it discourage me if I'm not down any...as long as there is no 'gain' (water weight or not), I will be content and know that I will have a GREAT number next week. I have been trying to flush my system in hopes of getting off any access water weight. I read yesterday that lemons when consumed in warm or hot water acts as a natural dieuretic and laxative. I drank some in some hot tea last night and I acutally felt the 'laxative' effect today!

Wish me luck...I will weigh as soon as I get to work tomorrow morning, 8 am CST.

I hope the scale treats you right after all the hard work you have put into it! AF always messes with my numbers too so I wouldn't worry too much about this weigh in and you're right, you will rock the next one if this one is thrown off by her.

Spent the entire weekend away from home...Friday at 10:30 a to Sunday at 4:00 p and still stayed under my calorie goal each day!!!

Spent a fun-filled birthday weekend with my family, out of town.

I ate some normal stuff, but still counted calories and still stayed within range, actually had calories left over each day. Since I have three little ones, I got a lot of exercise in as well. We did a lot of walking, did a lot of pushing in the stroller (which means more calories burned), it was a VERY successful weekend. It showed me that I'm really dedicated to this lifestyle change and that I CAN DO IT. Normally, that would have been my window of opportunity to jump off the wagon and go back to my horrible eating ways!

ALSO, today was another hurdle for me. One of the companies we do business with brought us 6 (SIX) king cakes!!! UGH!!! I ate my grits while everyone else feasted on yummy, filled king cakes! I'm STRONG!!! (Victory)

Way to stay on track over a weekend away! That's awesome. I'm not sure what King cakes are but good for you to stick with it in the face of sweets!

King Cakes are a big thing around Mardi Gras here in Louisiana, or southern Louisiana (as far as I know). I live close to New Orleans. The ones brought today are filled with cream cheese, strawberry, etc. Just yummy deliciousness!!!

Geez those king cakes sound heavenly.

GREAT JOB on sticking with the plan!!! that is really an achievment. I am sure I would have caved

Once this 'being healthy' thing sticks to your mind, you can really achieve it. I am still not 100% in that zone but I know it coz I have been there before.

Stay with it and you will lose weight and get healthy before yiou know it

    Thanks, Wady!

I can definitely tell I have the right mindset. I forgot my gym clothes/shoes at home today. I packed my bag and everything, just forgot it on the washing machine!!! I am beating myself up! Prior to this, I would be like "YAY, an excuse not to have to workout!"

On another note: There are some ladies here at work that do Zumba and Pilates on Tues, Wed, & Thurs at a local church (because they can do it for free there). I am thinking about joining them on Tuesday and Thursday (my days I do not go to gym). I will just be doing the zumba workout, though.

I am looking forward to having something 'extra' to do, and also that I will have others doing it with me...keeping me motivated.

    Weigh-in tomorrow!!!

That sounds like fun. I've not done Zumba yet-I finally conquered my group fitness hangup with spinning but have been thinking about Zumba also. I just don't want to be the only one in the class who doesn't know the moves!

Good luck with tomorrow's weigh in!

Good luck with tomorrow's weigh in!
I thought about that too. One of the women who goes and has been going encourged me to go. Said even if you don't know the steps, just keep moving! I'm going to try it out once and just see how it goes and if I like it. YOU CAN DO IT TOO!

My SIL goes twice a week at the gym I go to. Maybe I could get her to sort of give me a rundown on the moves ahead of time...
