    Default Mastitis in a baby?

I think Kennydee has mastitis in the right breast. Crazy I know, but she has been running a fever for three days. She vomited 3 times during the night Sunday and then nothing yesterday. Started vomiting again today and then when I was putting her in her costume for the school event tonight I noticed her right breast is swollen, red, hard. I called her pedi at home to see if that is something they would see in the clinic or if I needed to go to the ER. She said she would be fine seeing that in clinic tomorrow unless something gets really bad tonight. So tomorrow I'm off to the pedi. I was 32 years old before I ever got mastitis and that was during breastfeeding the girls. Anyone else heard of a baby with it?

I have never heard of such a thing, but I wasn't that familiar with it until I started breastfeeding either. Let us know how she is, okay?

It's mastitis and so she is starting antibiotics. The pedi said they do see it from time to time in babies, not everyday, but often enough that they wouldn't call it rare.

I have a friend who got mastitis and has never been pregnant. I guess it can happen. Hope she feels better really soon!

I have a friend whose newborn (1 week old) baby has mastitis. It was the first I heard of a baby having it- I guess it does happen fairly often.
