I have the same heart rate issue. Meaning that when I exercise if I exert myself too much my heart rate goes CRAZY high and my chest feels like it was going to explode!
I don't think I could do spinning, even at a normal weight. I think part of it is mental. I don't like cycling or running if I'm not physically going anywhere - my brain just shuts down right away.
I hope the doctor gets the note sent soon! And you like the new doctor too!
I got the doctor's note in the mail today! Guess they ignored my instructions to fax it to the gymI'm going to take it in with me tomorrow morning and leave it for them so I can get moving on to my next trainer appointment.
My weigh-in was 190.4 which is my new low! I need to update my ticker. I'm officially at -12.2 pounds
I am heading in to the gym in the morning. Hopefully going to hit it T-F this week. I leave Saturday morning and will be in Holland for a week so I'm really really hoping to at the very least maintain. Not really expecting to lose while I'm there! I might get myself in to a Zumba class on Thursday with my SIL-we'll see how ready I am for the trip or if I need to focus on my home a bit more to have it organized enough for my husband and dad to handle the girls and school and meals, etc.
Great job!

Fantastic job on the new low!
Great job on the weight loss!
Let us know how there trip goes...I am thinking of taking DD1 to Amsterdam for spring break.
I'm home! I got home yesterday afternoon. Today was weigh-in day and I really really wanted to skip it because I was sure it would be devestating. But it wasn't! I actually lost .2 pounds since last Friday's weigh-in! While eating all the yummy treats and chocolates in Belgium and Holland! I guess the good news is that I can certainly maintain (which I already knew-maintaining's not the hard part for me, losing is!)
Now to get back at the exercise and back on track with my points!
WTG!!! It's a new week with a new start. As my leader always say "Quiting is not an option".

That's terrific!!!
losing on vacation! wtg
Good job losing on vacation, and Belgium/Holland...awesome! Did you have a good time?

I had a great time. Too short of a trip, though!
Tomorrow I have an appointment with my trainer so I can see what torture he has in mind for me for the coming month!
It was great. Apparently I have 3 more sessions-I thought I was down to 2-because this one was termed as an orientation and not an actually training session.
I've got about 10 minutes of warm-up in the form of 5 minutes on the treadmill and then some squats, lunges and balance work. Then on to some exercises with the ball-wall squats with biceps curl/shoulder press, laying with the ball at my shoulders/neck and doing chest press and triceps curls, sitting on the ball doing shoulder raises and then laying on my stomach on the ball doing rows. I'm supposed to do 3 sets of 12-15 reps with 5lb weights to start. I'm doing 2.5 pound weights for the shoulder raises because I've injured my shoulder and needed cortisone shots before so it makes me nervous. Then at the end I'm doing some crunches, planks and back extensions. All except that last one I can do at home so I'm actually hoping I can get to where I'm doing them at the gym 3 days a week, with an hour of cardio on the other two, and hopefully on those two days I'll still get the workout in at home so I end up doing it all 5 days a week. We'll see how it works, though. It felt really good to be getting back into a structured workout. And more than once he commented on needing to make adjustments to what he had thought he would have me do because I was "stronger" than he expected. Here I am in literally the worst shape of my entire life-both inside (my heart/lungs) and my muscles-and he's commenting on my strength and balance abilities!
I made shepherd's pie for dinner tonight with leftover mashed potatoes. I'm not a fan of the stuff so I didn't eat any. I think I'm just going to have a salad and a hard boiled egg to go with it, maybe add some shredded chicken and feta to it.

Sounds like a great training session with a lot of good info! Why does everyone go for feta these days? I haven't tried it but, it seems like the latest "good" cheese choice. I am a pretty picky eater and it stinksso I have yet to try it! Tell me something good about it that will make me want to eat it

So I've done my outlined workout 3 days in a row. I hurt. Mostly it's just my legs and it's a good hurt but bad at the same time. It's stupid because while I'm doing the workout-like this morning-I don't hurt, I don't have a hard time getting all my sets in. But as far as being fully functional the rest of the day, I'm having a hard time with things like stairs, squatting to get on or off the toiletI can't decide if since the workouts are going well maybe I should just keep going or if since the rest of the day is a bit difficult as far as moving around goes, maybe I should do a rest day? The trainer told me it was up to me and to do at least 3 days a week. I'm thinking tomorrow I'll just do an hour on the elliptical or treadmill instead of doing the circuit workout and then doing 1/2 hour or cardio.
Hmmm...could you ask the trainer for a suggestion? I have always heard you can work out the soreness![]()

I worked through it, took Sat/Sun off and had a trainer appointment this morning. It was tough. He added some pretty intense (for me) cardio in to it which had my HR monitor beeping at me because I was at 190. He backed off a bit so that I wouldn't get up over 185 and making sure I only stay there for about 1 minute tops and that my recovery time is good. We'll see how I do this week. My girls have Thursday-next Tuesday off so it's totally going to mess with my workout routine! I might have to leave them with my grandparents or....go at night *gulp*
I did a hard workout on the treadmill today. It was all hills and I am feeling it. The running I did for cardio in between groups of lifts yesterday was like being back in high school basketball and having to run lines. My left hip had been feeling fine with my workouts all last week and is now back to giving me grief. It definitely does not want me to be a runner again!
I'm sort of intimidated at the thought of trying to push myself hard enough to get the same workout on my own tomorrow. I never thought a personal trainer was the kind of thing I would be into but I'm tempted to see if DH will get me 6 months worth for Christmas, even just twice a month and not weekly or something.
My brother's wife had lap band surgery about 18 months ago and has officially lost 105 pounds and is 130, so 5 pounds under her goal. She looks fantastic. She is really encouraging me. She had the surgery at 235 and got to about 200 before it seemed to quit "falling off". She started WW and the gym I am at and has worked it off that way. I'm at 190 and am hoping I can have the same drive and motivation to keep me going! I've passed my 5% loss and am only 8ish pounds from my 10%! If I make my first big goal of 150 that will have been 25% which I know will feel so good!
You go, Tif. You are motivating me to get my bee-hind out of bed early in the morning and get to the gym!
I've known a couple of women who had lap-band surgeries, and neither of them seemed to lose 'all' their weight. I mean, both lost weight, especially right at the beginning, but they are both still obviously overweight. I guess there is a lot of lifestyle change and exercising that has to go along with it. Dangit all. I want there to be a magic potion or something.![]()
Actually that is the first success story I have heard about the lap band. My cousin got it a few years ago and lost a bit of weight but she is still obese for sure. A friend of a friend who is HUGE - like he auditioned for the biggest loser and must be at least 400lbs is getting it. I can't imagine it working at all.
Anyway, go for the goal!![]()
For my SIL it was totally the motivation she needed to make some major diet and lifestyle changes. She had been on WW before and south beach and other diets but just had a hard time losing any weight at all. Between 18 and 21 she went from 135-235 both due to graduating and being out of all the sports and leading a more sedentary lifestyle and her thyroid hypo so she gained weight. She lost the first 30 pounds in like 2 weeks after the surgery and then stayed there for about a month before she realized she needed to do more than just the surgery. I think with certain types of bariatric surgery you need to depend on exercise a lot more than others.
I think my cousin also lost about 30 in the beginning. I guess the point is you don't lose it automatically but need to work at it like your SIL. I think lots of people getting this are doing so because they are not successful with diet and exercise and assume they don't have to do anything once they get it? I don't know....
