So add Bunny and stars to his list. Plus he signed Baby, signing, time, at the beginning of the BST DVD today.
We were playing outside and he grabbed the watering can and ran inside while signi g water. Went to his Dad at the sink (he was washing dishes) and he signed "more water please" without prompting. He also signed soap when he wanted to go and play with the soap and water in the bathroom!
Top the whole day off, He called me Mom and Mum for the first time EVER!!!!! I'm floating on cloud 9!
Before I've always been Ma.
Yay!!!

Audiology and ENT were normal. There could be a hearing issue, but they won't be able to tell until he is old enough to talk. Speech went GREAT today! Wyatt's case Manager suggested on Friday to meet with the Psycologist. And was going to talk to him today. After that then we'll move forward with developmental neurologist. But he's still picking up 3-4 signs a week.
More great updates!

It is exciting!
Make sure you're tracking words in context, though. Did he hurt and was telling you he hurt, or was he copying the DVD? Imitation is an important step to learning new words but you know he knows what they mean when he pulls them up to talk about what is happening, if that makes sense.

Correct, he signed Hurt, but he's not using hurt yet. He finally signed juice and started using Juice last Saturday. His SLP was asking why I don't use Drink. Ummm because he want juice to drink. I guess she still hasn't seen many of the signs he uses. She did mention OT to help with fine motor to help with sign language.
is there a difference between a late talker and CAS?
DH's brothe just remembered last night that he remembered Dh being a late talker until almost 3. But he as born premature. So maybe he just takes after his dad.
Yes, there's a big difference between a late talker and CAS. Late talkers are kids who, well, talk late. About half of those children go on to have language disorders (CAS is a speech disorder that can lead to language disorder, but isn't a language disorder itself). The other half of late talkers are perfectly fine, no problems.
If your SLP is like me she really wants to push him to use verbs in addition to nouns - so drink as an action to describe what he is doing (instead of "drink" to mean something generic to drink), or even better drink + juice (I really want to see 2-word combinations once vocabulary reaches about 50 words/signs). So I suspect that's what she was meaning. Verbs are important to allow those combinations to happen.

He is requesting things in three word sentences such as juice more please. These are a list of the words I saw him use yesterday.
Hat, shoes, socks, juice, milk, more, water, please, swing, cat, dog, fish, car, airplane, bubble, these are the ones I remember off the top of my head. There maybe more.
Cat is signed with sound "mea"
Fish w/ sound "-sh"
Car w/ "rummmm"
Airplane w/ "back of throat clearing sound"
He is saying MOM and MUM with the ending M sound. I swear I heard home say bubble yesterday "buh-bah" but I only heard it once and the daycare teacher heard it too". The sounds above he does every time he signs those words.
I"ll look up more verbs. Do you have a good list of them we should focus on?
Monday is his Psychologist appointment here at the house.
This site has a good starter vocabulary for device users - it would be equally appropriate for signs.
This links to Stage 1 lesson plans - click on each area (directing activities, negatives, etc.) and then it asks which device you are using. Since you have no device select the page with the highest options which would be Unity 144 sequenced.
Hope the meeting goes well!

Thank you Gwenn. UNC just posted an opening for CAS kids 5 and up. I emailed the director of the study and told her UNC is awesome, we have much respect for the university.. We'd be willing to pay for travel. Please keep us in mind for future studies or send our information on to anyone that might be able to help us. Send up a Prayer! Please, Please , please!
Prayers, of course.
Oh - also - because he's requesting, work on "want" to initiate a request. More is good but it should mean "more" and not "I want." Those two frequently get confused in the little ones and I've had certain kids who will come up to me out of the blue and say "I want more X" when they haven't had "firsts" if that makes sense.

Brain dead moment - don't worry about clicking on the device. Click "read more" and you will see the entire lesson plan. You don't need the chart.

Last Night Wyatt was signing "swing" and "shoes", DH didn't think this made any sense. And I said maybe he is trying to tell us about his day. So I asked the Daycare Teacher today, did anything happen yesterday with Wyatt on the swing with his shoes. And she said he loves it when she swings him by pushing on the bottoms of his shoes. He was trying to tell us about his day!!!! About something that happened in the past!!! I am So excited!!!
Found a woman at our church 4 of her sons are apraxic. Including first son of her DH with a different mother. Her three kids are beter now, one still has a speech impediment. And the first son is smart and in college and is about to be tested for Aspergers. We are going to be camping together this coming weekend, so DH will get to meet the 3 boys.
The woman from the CAS support group called me back yesterday. So I was ab,e to get more information on the meeting.
Meeting with the psychologist here at the house tomorrow. Not sure exactly what that will entail.

Is the psychologist part of the EI team or is that part of Tricare?
And I'm glad you're meeting some other families!

The Psycologist came from EI, Wyatt has above average IQ and motor skills. Delayed in communication and social skills (no surprise). But because of the apraxia is part of the issue in those areas. At this time he did not feel Wyatt falls on the PDD spectrum. He will be reevaluated in 6 months well before he turns 3. If we do get info back about our niece being on the spectrum to call back and let them put that in their notes. It sounds like a good possibility Wyatt will get a slot this summer in the Sandhills Children's Center. Then he can stay at that private school until he starts K. All his specialists have offices in that school, including his current SLP. So he will see them on a daily basis, walking by his class or passing in the hallway. I'm looking forward to the CAS support group meeting on Wednesday night.
Wyatt signed Banana today for the first time.
