Glad everything was ok Brenda. and for new furniture! I'm still living that mix-matched hand-me-down furniture dream - though we splurged on a king-size tempurpedic bed a couple years ago (which is still on the wheel/metal frame thing).

Oh that is so, so sad That has to be difficult for her to process. At least she is doing so with wonderful guidance.

This morning, I saw this on a blog I read:

The kind of tree hugging God blesses:

“[Wisdom] is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called blessed.”

    —Proverbs 3:18

I'm going to two women's bible studies/gatherings this week. I'm excited to be doing more fellowship things. But I'm nervous to be trying new stuff. The first one (tonight) is a Bible study, where one woman from the church gives a talk or something. The second one (tomorrow) night is for young married women, discussing how to meet our husband's physical needs. This is the one I'm really nervous about. Not about sharing, I don't have a problem with that, especially with these women. I just don't want to be thinking about my friends being intimate, you know? But I've been assured no one gives details.

Oh, and I'm nervous about being away from the kids for two nights. It'll be good; at least that's what I'm telling myself.

Jenn - 'Tis the harvest season! What did you guys plant this year? My parents are crazy busy with their garden, too. Every year my dad says "We are going to cut back and have a smaller garden this year" and every year it gets bigger. I think of the verse in Malachai (had to look it up) that says God will "open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it." For my parents, I think they really are saying "We don't have enough room! Where are we going to put all these 'blessings'??"

Brenda - I'm glad everything is ok! How exciting to see your ultrasound! Its so neat to actually see LOs in there growing.
Congrats on the new furniture, your DH is so sweet!

Katie - I just can't make sense of things like that. I just don't know how people become so hard and apathetic. It sounds like you and your DH are handling your DD's questions wonderfully, though.

Amanda - @ the tree hugging quote
That sounds like an interesting bible study! lol Hope it turns out to be a good time and encourages everyone involved.
    Oh, and yay for TTC!!

So in lieu of counseling (for now) DH is ready to start going to Celebrate Recovery. I actually think that this is a better first step for him, and us. I'm really excited that he is going to go!

I would really like to go with him, since I know it would be helpful for him (he is really shy, especially going to big groups of strangers) and it would be beneficial for me as well, since it also has support for spouses.

The problem is that they do not have childcare. They just started CR at our church a couple months ago. The overseeing pastor said that he hopes they will eventually be able to provide it, but no luck right now. I do believe this is important enough to fork out the money for a babysitter, however, the funds just aren't there. *sigh*

I think we will pay for a babysitter this Thursday, so I can go with him on his first time. After that, I just don't know.

But I am really really excited to see how God will use this in his life. I am praying hard that he will find an awesome group of supportive people that he feels safe with.

Amanda, I'd be nervous about that kind of study too! Im sure it will be fine, you'll have to keep us posted.

Polly, could you ask your pastor if he'd recomend any of the high school girls from church for baby sitting? Maybe you could work out a deal with one of them. At our church a few are very gracious and consider it their ministry to babysit for a low cost (usually just gas money) once a week so a family can attend bible study type stuff.

Hope you can work somthing out!

Thanks! We were worried for a little bit about our baby..but then we both just gave it over to the Lord.

Yeah the mix matched hand me downs have gotten some good use. In fact we handed my dresser/mirror down to my sisters future step-daughter. So yay...it's going to get more use. We got our DS new furniture before us I don't think i've had a headboard or footboard on my bed since i was living at home with my parents. We've been saving up money here and there for a new bedroom set. But I wasn't expecting to get it so soon! We also upgraded to a king at the same time. FINALLY. I love my DH but were just as content rolling over kissing each other good night and then retreating to our sides of the bed. I don't like bumping into him all night long. Most of the furniture should arrive this saturday but a few pieces are back ordered until beginning of Nov. That's ok. Right now i'm living out of plastic crates full of clothing because my dresser is gone.

We are dedicating Adriel to the Lord this Saturday. I am really excited. We did a short parent orientation this past Sunday and got to record a 2 minute message for Adriel that we'll get along with the dedication ceremony on a DVD.

I've been trying to get the house in order since we have family/friends coming over to our place after the dedication for cake and coffee/tea/hot chocolate. Putting up those pictures that have been waiting to go up; rearranging furniture, cleaning etc.

We're ordering a cross shaped cake from this local bakery. It's $47 for 24-30 people with a marble flavor and whipped creme frosting. DH and I decided to do 1 Samuel 1:27-28 (NASB) as the scripture on the cake which is: For this boy I prayed and the Lord has given me my petition which I asked of Him. So I have also dedicated him to the Lord; as long as he lives he is dedicated to the Lord" with his name underneath. I have these napkins that are black and green polka dots with prams on them so I'm thinking of asking them to do a green and black polka dot border with the scripture in black and his name in green. Prayerfully it'll look how I am imagining it to.

I am really looking forward to it; just praying about anxiety and stress as I tend to get a bit panicky before events especially when people are coming over.

My first bible study was awesome. We talked about community. And about how we need to be confessing our sins to each other. It was very good. And it was also nice to have others talk about the hurt involved with people leaving the church. I can say I felt no bitterness or anger, just sadness (grief, I suppose). But we talked about forgiveness and about God being in control and it was very good.

On to the sex study tonight.

DH and I are going to CR for the first time tonight. I'm excited. I think DH is more nervous.
The ministry leader's daughter offered to babysit Lily for free tonight! She doesn't charge when she is helping her dad with his ministry. What a blessing! It is a one shot deal though, so I will see what I can set up after this, but at least I get to for sure go with him on his first day.

Ayles - what beautiful, fitting words. The dedications sounds like it will be wonderful. I have to admit I'm glad I'm not the only one who has been delinquent in putting up pictures it's happening this weekend but good ole indecisive me has a hard time choosing what to print! I should just print a lot.

I also have to admit I also have your name in the back of my head if we ever have another girl. Beautiful name from a beautiful girl.

Just got done praying for you and KC. CR changed our lives and truly helped lift DH out of his addiction to alcohol. I praise God for the people we met, the love we experienced in that ministry, the growing pains and the spiritual breakthroughs. It was definitely a process, sometimes extremely painful, but so worth it in the end. Even though DH has been alcohol-free for over a year now we still go every week because of how powerful the ministry is and because we want to give back and encourage those who are just walking in the door for the first time feeling hopeless about their situations.

Let us know how it went

So I have a very dear friend that I met in college. She is from Jamaica and just has an enormously loving heart and has been there for me during some of my most darkest times; especially in college she encouraged me with God's word and songs before I even came to know Him for myself.

I have been concerned about what she considers her vocation, modeling, for some time now. Some of the things she has compromised (such as type of clothing, photo shoots etc.) seem to be outside of God's design. The biggest thing God has put on my heart to pray about these past four years she has been modeling is for her to receive God's word about not causing her brother to stumble by how she carries herself (in modeling this is almost inevitable).

About a year ago she discovered a passion for writing Christian fiction and drafted her first book. It has not been published yet as she cannot find an editor. The book is pretty explicit in terms of interaction between the main characters (the man is a preacher and the woman is his congregation member). I have read parts of it as she sent it to me for editing and legal purposes in terms of verifying that it is her work. She says that she wants to be real since this is how the world is.

God is telling me to share with her, in love of course, that we live in the world but we're not of it. That God's standards are not the world's standards and we are called to be set apart from the world and those who are in it. I believe that "nervousness" she says she's experiencing about the explicit content is the Holy Spirit convicting her of representing Him inaccurately, you know?

Still I feel a bit nervous about saying it because these days people (even and especially Christians) feel like others are putting a damper on their dreams etc. which is not my intention at all. In the same breath I am learning that to help another brother/sister out it is okay to walk boldly in the knowledge of Christ and share that knowledge with them in a loving and gracious way. I know in the past I have missed the opportunity for God to use me to encourage someone else and in retrospect wished I had not allowed fear/nervousness to stop me.

Please pray for me as I find the words to talk to her and for her to receive them in love. Thank you, ladies.

Beloved, if God has loved us so we also ought to love one another. ~1 John 4:11
