I used to love being on the Nursery Schedule, but now that I'm teaching preschool all week, and Nursery is held in my classroom, I find it better for everyone involved if I am NOT the one volunteering in there, since they totally ransack the place, and let the kids play with the toys in the Dirty Toy basket (the place where we put toys that have been drooled/chewed/snotted on or are in some other fashion in need of being sanitized). I mean serioulsy, it says DIRTY TOYS on it in huge letters and is up on a counter up against a wall where smaller hands can't reach it ( I teach 1-2's) . The parents are just too lazy to watch the bigger children (nursery goes up to age 5) and make sure they don't get the basket. They also use up all our baby wipes if I don't either hide them very well, or take them home, which is just not right since I know all the parents leave a diaper bag.
Every Monday I have to go to work early to undo the damage Nursery has done. I have to locate all the toys that were in the Dirty Toy basket (if I am able to remember which ones they were) and put them BACK so they can get sanitized, and then put things in their proper bins. It's all labeled baskets...you'd think it would not be that hard. Farm Animals, Blocks, Cars, Food, Dishes (for the play kitchen). But they seem to think if they just toss anything anywhere and throw it on a shelf, it's cool. Most weeks they are too lazy to even wipe up the rings left on the counter by the adults' coffee cups.
...sorry...got off on a rant there! Now you know why I don't work Nursery!![]()

Kate - Oi. What a pain. No wonder you prefer not to volunteer there!
I'm wondering if church is going to be canceled tomorrow. We have quite a bit of snow and its still coming down. If I still lived in Idaho, I wouldn't think twice about it. Life goes on, snow or no! But here, we get two inches and everything shuts down!![]()
You know I certainly wonder the same thing. I don't want to miss church. I plan to go if I can at all, but the problem I currently face is that, living in a subdivision of condos, our parking lot is graded, meaning it slopes down and away from our doors, and down and away from the doors of our neighbors' doors in the condos across the parking lot from us. This is great when it rains, as all the water runs away from our doors, meets in the middle, and then runs down the grade to a storm drain further down the lot (the parking lot is also graded to go up the further back in the community you go).
However, as it has been sleeting and freezing rain, we have, instead of our usual "river to the storm drain," a rather nice frozen pond. If I were to release the brake on my car, it is nearly certain that it would roll slowly backwards, hit the "pond," lose traction, and crunch into the back of one of the cars of my neighbors across the lot.
So...I'm pretty well stuck at this point.

So I've been feeling sicky flu-ish for the last week or so, and AF is late (I think). With my last pregnancy, the flu feeling was what finally made me test again. So I was starting to wonder if maybe....? But then it hit full force and I experienced some symptoms that are definitely NOT pregnancy related.
Yeah... turns out, I'm not pregnant. I'm just sick. Miserably sick. Ugh.
sorry you are sick!!!![]()

Sorry you are sick!
I braved taking both kids to Church by myself because DH was working. It wouldn't have been bad except Abby cried on the way in because I made her leave the blanket in the car and wouldn't put on her jacket to leave.I strongly considered just watching online instead of going... yeap they broadcast our services online!
Kate - that would annoy me about the nursery as well. I'm thankful that doesn't happen at our Church. We have teachers for Sunday school (different ones for each of the 3 services) then I work the Saturday service and the Tues/Thurs Bible studies and everything is always cleaned after each service and put away at the end where it belongs. Same goes for the classrooms that have preschool in them during the week. I love our Children's department. It's one of the big reason I love our Church so much!
Polly just remember last time you started out sick, but then....just saying!!!!![]()

Hi everyone, mind if I join you. If not, I'm Shelly, I've been registered on APA for a bit, but just now being active.
Polly, I so know what you mean about people and snow in the area. I used to live in Northern Kentucky and it was the same way, a snowflake would hit the ground and everyone would go mad. I live in Alaska now and have to laugh at that thought.
Welcome Shelly!

That would really bug me,too. We have a great group of ppl working nursery and the 2T class. We have 3 services at the end the workers are to clean everything, put toys in their proper place. As soon as one of the babies put a toy in their mouths we retrieve it, wash it and put it on the counter to dry. The sooner you take care of the stuff it tends not to pile up. Of course we are very fortunate to have a bathroom and wash sink right in the nursey so that helps ALOT!
