Oh and i saw your post on the 2 moms thing. I wanted to post here because I didn't want to keep that thread alive and well I didn't read the whole thing but i'm sure it got heated. But I wanted to tell you that if my son asked about another childs parents and they had two moms I would just simply tell him the truth. If he said does that boy have a daddy. I would say YES because he does. But I would follow up with but his daddy does not live with him. He lives with his mommy. And see where that takes it. If he says but he has two mommies. I would just tell him the truth about the situtaion. Then we would read about what the bible says about that. Then go from there. Isaiah's uncle has a boyfriend. Though we do not see them because they live far away. He hasn't asked yet but when he does we will tell him the truth.
Thanks Brenda for the advice and for keeping it here. The more I think about it, the mmore I think about how much of a fight we have in store for us (my family) against so many things that are celebrated in our secular society.

I tried PTing using the bare bottom method, too. He did not seem too resistant until day 2 and I said forget it. We will try again after DS2's birthday. Plus, thing are finally settling down with DH and his work commitments, so things are a little more ccalm in our house. I probably chose a time that was really too hectic to start the first time.

We're doing ok. I wish D would sleep more at night, but oh well. I feel like we're in a routine, or at least I can steer the girls toward their typical evening and bedtime schedules, which is nice. I'd say it's about what I expected actually. Maybe I'm just really pragmatic. Though, I'm still not sure how I'm going to go anywhere just me and the kids.

The thing that's throwing me off is this gallbladder stuff. But we meet with a surgeon tomorrow, so hopefully we'll have a plan. But I am NOT looking forward to having to recover from another abdominal surgery.

Today, the pastor was talking about faith and jumping around the Bible and reading his sermon, and all I could think about was DS2 down in the nursery, wondering if he was ok, and when I got word he was not, I was not at all disappointed that I had to leave. Anyone else ever go through that?
That would be so hard for me. Our church has a great community, too, but we also have amazing preaching/teaching. In fact, that's why we stayed at our church when we visited.

I would say I enjoy the sermon as much as the singing. They both serve different roles in worship. But my pastor is good. However my fav pastor is near where I went to college. I can hear him preach all day.

amanda-d will sleep it just may take more time they are still so young. Hang in there. How is bf going? My pastors wife bf her twins. I think after the 6 month point she supplemented with bottles. Yeah going anywhere with four would be. Little daunting. I would pobably have one in the carseat, one in my carrier, and just pray my other two cooperate with walking close to me.

yes it is unfortunate that society moves more ungodly. We still have to stand for truth. The situation with my bil is tough for all involved. But we have to stand for righteousness and truth.

Bfing is going really well actually. The girls are gaining just fine (actually faster than ds gained weight!) and I've got about 140 ounces in the freezer. I'm so grateful my supply has been so plentiful!

And it's good I have all of that since I'll have to pump and dump after my surgery tomorrow. Prayers for my gallbladder surgery (that it would go well, that they wouldn't have to open me up further, that I wouldn't have a lot of nausea or pain, etc.) would be much appreciated!

Lisa - I'm not really sure what to say about the church situation. That would be really frustrating. Do you know if they are looking at hiring this pastor permanently?

Amanda - Glad BFing is going so well! Will be praying for your surgery tomorrow.

Amanda - I will pray for you.

Polly - They are interviewing candidates now. It's been 6 months since we have been without a permanent pastor, so I guess that is not too long. And, i guess it's a good time since Anthony usually naps at 10 am, and our only service is at 10, so I can't make it every week. The first time we went back after a while, we did not like at all the changes the interim pastor implemented. A collection bag was passed around, there was back and forth recitation of some verses. Just more formal than it had been. The recitation reminded me of a Catholic service. I grew up Catholic, and it is not something I enjoyed (the recitation). When we returned again, it was back to the way it was - a joy box for tithing and no recitation. Guess I was not the only one who did not like the changes!

Lisa - Yeah, if they are interviewing then I would probably hold out until they hired someone and then see. Definitely something to pray about!

Amanda: praying for your surgery today and a quick recovery! KUP on how everything went. Oh...and on the breastfeeding..KUDOS to you with 2 small children and breastfeeding twins! that is so AMAZING! My mom did the same thing when my brother and I were born and i do NOT know how she did it. So great to hear that you are so successful with it!!

Lisa: I am with you on the sermons. That is probably my favorite part of the service, but it's probably because our pastor is so awesome. And I am sure that's why you liked the sermon so much is cuz your old pastor was amazing. It would be really rough to go to an interim pastor who doesn't do for you what the old one did. I would take Polly's advice and wait to see what they do for a permanent pastor.

I LOVE more formal services. Not the mindless chanting (sorry to any Catholics - my dad's whole family is Catholic so I HAVE been many a-mass) but the classic songs from hymnals are my favorites and I would rather read prayers together as a group than have the paster do ALL the talking (that's what our contemporary services are like). Just curious, what was the difference between a collection bag and a joy box? Besides the name? Glad at least the interim went back to how the church had been doing it. Maybe he was still kind of new your first time back and no one had told him yet, this is how we do this service?

Thank you for all of your prayers! Pumping is going well so far. I couldn't pump much last night before bed, but I made up for it by pumping 15 ounces around 4 am, when the girls woke up. I hope to be able to nurse them again at their last feeding before bed.

My incisions don't hurt at all right now, but the gas pains hurt. (They have to inflate your abdomen with gas during the procedure.) And I'll be slowly reintroducing foods over the next couple of weeks.

So glad you could nurse them. And I am glad the surgery went well. OUCH for gas pains. I get IBS a lot and that hurts like crazy. Kinda wish you could have one good fart and get it over with. LOL. Will pray for continued healing for you.

Oh my, 15 oz! You must have felt so much better after that.

I'm glad that you are doing fairly well. The gas pains were the worst part for me those first few days after I had my appendix out. I don't remember having much pain with the incisions in the skin but the underlying muscles hurt for a bit.

I had my baby shower yesterday and it was awesome. We got a car seat, which I have been STRESSING over. It was a fun time.

I stayed with the friend that hosted it until later that night. Her health has not been good lately and she was exhausted from cleaning and decorating and hosting. (I told her not to over-do it, but that is not her style. She always pushes herself.) Anyway, later that night she passed out and had what looked like two back to back seizures. I've never actually seen someone have a seizure before. It was unnerving. I was so grateful her DH was there when it happened, since he has seen it happen before and knew what to do and kept ME from freaking out too much. I am trained in how to care for someone having a seizure, but I didn't know what kind of seizure it was, if this was something that needed a 911 call or not. He knows her medical history and knew that this happens from time to time, so it was not an "emergency". It still worries me. She has so much going on with her health. *sigh*

It was quite a roller-coaster day yesterday.

The gas pains in my shoulders are pretty much gone, which is great. My incision sites are a little sore, but not too bad at all. And I'm hungry as all get out but trying not to just stuff everything I see in my mouth. I'm trying to take it slow and see how my body will be digesting things. And the girls are back on the boob and doing great.

Brenda - Sorry you couldn't be there. It was rescheduled kind of last minute, so there were several people who couldn't come. But it was great getting to sit down one on one and chat with you the other day! Thank you so much for the gift, and the yummy cheesecake bites!

Amanda, I am glad to hear that the surgery went well and that you are healing well.

Polly, that is great you had a shower! I remember you posting about your friend giving away the details by mistake. That must have been scary having your friend have seizures.

Rae, I just saw the question now. The joy box was something that our old pastor implemented when he took over our church before I was ever there. I don't know the correct term for it, but our old pastor basically came to a struggling church and made some changes to get more people. One thing he did was to go from door to door in the neighborhood and asked if people went to church. If they did not, he asked why. One thing that people mentioned that they do not like about church is the public collection of money, so he implemented a joy box where people can discreetly put money (or anything really) in. There is one at the back of the church and one in a different part. The collection bag was a bag passed around. I hated it.

Our church doesn't pass around a collection bag either. We have two boxes at the back of the sanctuary where people can give discretely also. I really appreciate that.

Interesting about the joy box. We sometimes cheer at offering time (for the Lord loves a cheerful giver!) and always pass around the collection bag. I've never seen everyone put something in the bag in our row and we usually only give once a month since my DH is paid once a month. No one really cares if you put something in or not. We also have "automatic faithfulness" where you can have money automatically deducted from your account by the church.

Polly, that had to be so scary with your friend! I am so very glad that you were blessed in numerous ways by your friends.

Yay for no gas pains! Once those passed for me I felt so much better.

Never heard of a joy box either... Interesting. Ours is easy they pass the plate, but when you get a bullion it has a collection envelope in it for you to use and if your not giving that week they ask that you put the envelope in anyway and they recycle the unused ones for next time... So really if your watching you have no idea when or who gives because everyone is putting something in...

how was everyone's weekend? We went to two supper bowl parties. Of course both kids got to bed way too late and woke at the same time they always do. So its early nap times today and early bed time tonight.

I just love love love our christian friends. They are such an encouragement to us.
