You can get toxoplasmosis from a cat anytime if you're in close proximity, pregnant or not. They say most people who've lived with a cat long term probably have been exposed at one time or another, but there is a risk of birth defects (deafness, for one) or miscarriage during pregnancy so they emphasize being careful if you're pregnant. In the past, they didn't think it was harmful if you weren't pregnant, but that is changing.

I don't really mind spending $ on her, and if it ends up being the $15/4 lbs is the best option, I'll stick with it. But I am a little concerned about buying something expensive that she cannot tolerate.
