I get really upset like that, too, when I think about death. Didn't Bridget have a good book suggestion about talking about death with kids?

Cass that sounds awful for all of you.I wish I had easy answers. Bobbie is 18 and still struggles with the idea of me being an Atheist. She was just saying this weekend that having nothing after death is very sad, that that is like hell to her and she told me that I'm too good of a person to go to hell. I just told her we don't know what we don't know. Which is true...we really don't know.
It is easier to talk about when they're older though.![]()
I spoke to my dad a few days ago and he said he hasn't spoken to my brother in 3 months; I found out it's because my brother let his house get repossessed (and this was after my dad and mom had been paying his mortgage for years). My dad had said to him to not ever ask him for another penny and now my brother doesn't want anything to do with them. That just makes me so mad that they've helped him all these years and now he just turns his back on them. What an idiot!
They've probably spent over $100k on him over the years on cars, groceries, rent/mortgage and kids' school clothes.
I guess he's been renting to own; he had about 7k left on it and they just up and moved in to another rent house, so all the money they put in to the first house is just gone! He's never been able to be sensible with money. And now at 35 years old, my parents are finally cutting the money ties with him.
He's always been like that, too. I've always sort of tried to talk them out of giving him so much money because he just blows it. They always help him buy a new truck and then he never changes the oil or gets it serviced, so within a few years, he goes and buys another! And they just have kept shelling out the money to him. I think this was the final straw for them.
I'm reading but very limited computer time lately! I have been procrastinating everything I need to do before my advisor comes tomorrow regarding a $500 grant for excellence I'm trying to get for my daycare. Basically cramming 6 weeks worth of busy work into 3 days.

Good luck, Bridget!
At a party the other night, one of my friends was telling me that her little boy had gone out for the day with her in-laws. He's 5. As they were driving along, he said to his grandma, "When Grandad dies, you'll come to live with us." To which his grandad gave him a look like gee thanks. Lol. So, the grandma said, "Well, I'll be very sad when grandad dies." And my friend's son said, "Oh, you won't be sad long. He'll only be dead a little bit before he comes back alive." My friend had to explain that they've just been learning about christianity at school, so he thinks everyone will come back like jesus. She said she did clarify to him that it was only jesus that got that privilege.

I hope you get the grant, Bridget!
Katy, (first off I'm happy to report autocorrect has taken note of the fact that I type your name so much that it autocorrected me correctly with it; and secondly...) I hope all is still ok with your house and kitty. are you back from Dallas already? I hope you weren't evacuated and remain safe.
Ash... Lol!
On the topic of saying hi, one of the moms in my DD room told this funny story about how her little girl said hi to some strangers in a dept store and they ignored her. So, repeating something she must've heard before, her response was: "That's right. you better shop around!".

I have to leave work early. My bus is coming at 1:30 due to flooding in my county. I also just learned that my kid's school (the smart one that I liked?) opted NOT to send the kids home early and now their bus garage is flooded. Various roads in and around town are flooded and they're asking parents to come get their kids. Goodness gracious what were they thinking?! All the other schools in the area closed!!!
Some local friends are posting that at least one bridge is totally wiped out already. It's not an important one for me to get my kids or get home, but since it's going to take an hour to get to our hometown from Cornell, I'm a little worried about the bridges I will need to cross once I get there. I hope they're all still there and sturdy!!
Stay safe everyone!
The meeting went well, as well as a meeting can go with 5 children in the room.Actually the kids all rock and they were great. Still 2 more meetings before I get my (hopefully) money.
Savana has been in her own room 2 nights now!
Go, Savana!
Yikes, chrissy. I hope you and your loved ones all stay safe. Fingers crossed.
