Avatar doesn't look that amazing to me, but everyone talking about how good it is makes me want to see it. We don't get a lot of chances to go see a movie though...I wanted to see A Christmas Carol and I never got around to it.

I was a little disappointed in A Christmas Carol. Only because it was my first 3D experience though and I expected a lot more 3D action. The main 3D it had was the snow falling. I hear most 3D movies are far better.

I find porcelain dolls creepy.Or any lifelike doll. People would give them to me as a kid too. And my stepmom would display them in my room, I hated it. When I moved out, I kinda just left them there. She tried to give them to me, but I "forgot" them. I think they're in a box at their house somewhere.
Yeah I saw Toy Story in 3D and wasn't really impressed. I just kind of wanted to see A Christmas Carol because I really like seeing all the different versions, seeing how they portray the ghosts and all that.

ugh - my best friend in high school had one of those Good Guy dolls (Chuckie from Child's play) and it sat on a blow up chair in her walk in closet- which didn't have a door.I find porcelain dolls creepy.

I confess that dbf and I went out last night. I feel like the town I live in is so strange. Well, it's strange to me anyway. We went to several different little pubs and we both commented on how everyone looked at us when we walked in the door but no one smiles or says hello. Several times during the night I'd notice a group or pair of women talking and looking at me. I'm not a paranoid person so I know I wasn't imagining it. Dbf also would tell me that when I walked to the bathroom, these woman would talk and whisper. WTF? Who knows. Maybe they liked my shirt.
It was just so different in Honolulu, and even in Madison, the city I group in. If you went out, people would always strike up conversations. Even the bartenders were totally indifferent to us. We stopped at one place that is literally at the end of our street. Everyone was drinking out of these nice big glass mugs and the bartender gave us little rocks glasses. When dbf asked why our were different she said the other ones were for locals only.
Like so many tourists are rolling through this town!

Whoa, weird. It sounds like those small towns that are in movies and books where after living there for 20 years, you're still the 'new guy'.
Anyway, you should set them straight at the place down the block from you. But I guess to be *really* local, you would have to go out and drink more...which is probably not terribly likely!

Bridget, when I graduated from college I took this job for the state in this small ho-dunk of a town where if you hadn't been living there for 100 years and didn't know so and so, man forget about it. 3 months was all I could take.
Dh and I are watching Serenity right now. I had to tell him about the soft porn. He has no desire to see it.

I'd like to see Avatar, but I'll have to settle on 2D- I can't see 3D since I'm blind in one eye. I took Lorelai to see her first movie at the theater today and she had a blast. I had a blast just watching her. I love that kid. I'm thinking about taking both kids to see a movie next weekend, I really want to see the Princess and the Frog, but I don't know if Griffin will sit still that long. We'll see.

When people do start talking to us they are often like, "Ohhhh, you're the lady with the daycare" or "Ooooh you're the people from Hawaii."
So maybe it's that they know of us that they look, but come one people. Smile and speak.
If you see Princess and Frog, let me know what you think. I have to know if there is a dark/scary part to it because Savana is not having that at all these days. We took both kids to see the new Chipmunk movie and they did awesome. It was so fun. I'd like to do it more often.

We've seen it. There are some dark/scary parts. My kids handled it okay. Dancing skeletons, glowing heads, spooky noises, that sort of thing.
It wasn't really a recipe. Just to puree the veggies, which really makes the soup. I got a rotisserie chicken (because it's cheaper then buying a chicken and baking it myself.), pulled all the meat off, and boiled the carcass for about 2 hours. Then strain that and add some carrots, celery, leeks, 2 heads of garlic, an onion. You can leave them in big chunks, just cook until soft. Then take all the veggies and puree them. Add back to the broth and add some carrot and celery slices and some chicken. Cook until soft. Serve over noodles. I also made pepperjack and cheddar grilled cheese for dipping. It's soooo good! I'm so glad Bridget shared.

I think that I know somewhat were you are at and I think that I have been up that way once...not sure why tourists would be going there either! Did you tell them you were locals and get the better bigger mugs?
Haven't tried bars in my town over on the western side but seems like this town is really pretty friendly.

Guess what I did last night!? I made pita bread!!! Small victories, I know, but I was pretty impressed with myself. I cook a lot but NEVER bake. I'm so intimidated by baking, but really wanted pitas last night and just did it. They turned out great! Wheeeeeee!
