She's here!

Elena Juliet arrived via emergency c-section at 7:08 pm on 1/25/13! We are doing well, but she has SVA, a minor heart condition and will be in the NICU a few days. The good news is it is treatable and she should outgrow it between 6 months and a year! We will have to keep her on meds until then and monitor her heart every 3 hours until she does.

I went in because I checked my Doppler and her heart rate was upwards of 220! I am so grateful I thought to check and went in. Please always go in if something feels off!!!

She weighs 8 lbs 6 oz and is 20.75"! She also has a ton of hair. :)

On another note, they checked my cervix and I had gone from 0 effacement on wednesday to 60% today! Thought that might encourage some of you ladies with stubborn cervixes. :)

Sorry to hear about her heart problems, if it helps ease your mind at all -my middle son had heart issues and he grew out of it without any major complications. The monitoring alone can be scary but really it flies by when you are enjoying your new sweet baby.

Can I ask, did you have lots of heartburn? I've hears heartburn=lots of hair on baby. Oh and what was your due date?

Thanks ladies!!! I had zero heartburn! And I was due feb 2, so she was born at 38w6d. Other than the heart issue she is doing as perfect as a baby can! She is nice and pink and breathing beautifully. And obviously is nice and plump!! :)

Ozzy - I had started epo so maybe that helped?

As far as them not noticing, this is not a structural issue, and her fhr was always normal. The cardiologist told is it is likely a brand new development. If I hadn't caught it when I did, it is very likely other problems would have resulted, but since we caught it so fast, she got on med right away so no damage seems to have been done!
