Appointment Yesterday

Went great, I'm measuring in a 33 weeks about a week behind, and he is okay with leaving my dd at 3/15 and so am I. I was so excited because I sent him a really long Legal Medical Journal article in regards to CFM being nothing but junk science and how that over the years its clearly been proven that its junk, yet AGOC hasnt gotten behind the evidence. He told me that 20 years ago he delivered a lecture on exactly the same topic, but the sad part is that our "standard of care" is not going to change to evidence based medicine. He also said its tends to be the nurses who will push for CFM rather than the doctors. It really made me feel more confident in choosing him as my care provider, since he is also giving me TOLA2C and shooting for a VBA2C. He is the only doctor in the area that will even attempt this as most will push a mandatory section! I think he also appreciates that I have been doing my research in regards to my pregnancy and that I am educating myself on natural birth as much as possible.

The only proven outcome from the studies show increased in C-section rather than actual prevention of CP and seizures in the fetus.

Guess I'm a pushy mom/woman in labor (especially being all natural) because I refuse to be forced into a laying down on my back position for monitoring while I'm trying to labor. With my first I felt intimidated by my nurses and allowed for the unnecessary and uncomfortable monitoring to happen (for like 6 hours!!!), with Brooke I refused, so for the 2 hours I labored in the hospital before having her I was only monitored 2x for 15 mins each time (even that annoyed me).

Here's the thing about increased cesareans.... women are often given Pitocin to augment and speed up labor (often without much consent other than a nurse saying "we just added some Pitocin to your IV, OKAY") once Pitocin is added labor becomes more unnatural because it isn't the bodies normal rhythm, it's forced. Women can no longer handle the labor and request an EPI. Once the EPI kicks in, some women's body slow down in response to the receptors of pain and feeling being blocked so Pitocin is increased (why not, the women can't feel it right?) Now you have a baby who is under an enormous amount of trauma with unnatural labor at an increased rate, an internal fetal monitor tacked or screwed into their head being constantly monitored for any "danger signs" and dips in the HB. What baby wouldn't be in danger??????? Then all the mother hears next is "Wow your baby is not handling labor at all, your baby might be in danger, emergency C-section!!"

I hope the OB nurses will not be that pushy with me. My doc and I are on the same page. But he won't be there the whole time. I'm pretty good about being stubborn though.
