Low Vitamin D
I got a copy of my blood work from the midwife today. Everything looks good except my vitamin D levels were insufficient. The blood work had a note from the midwife saying we'd talk about it at my next appt (on the 12th).
Anyway I'm not super worried, but I googled vitamin D rich foods and came up with fish which I can't really eat right now and I don't eat ever in my non pregnant life, milk which disgusts me, and whole eggs where I don't like the yolk :(
I guess a supplement would be best in this situation but I'm going to wait until my appt before taking anything. I think a vacation to an island somewhere wouldn't hurt either haha :)
Anyone else need extra supplements right now?

I had very low D levels before getting pregnant with my #3...so 3 months prior I was put on 50,000 IU of vitamin D for 3 months, we checked it at 2 months and it had elevated to a perfect level so I stopped it then, but have continued 2000 IU since then and during pregnancy. You can't buy 2000 IU, I just buy 1000 IU and take it twice a day as instructed even during pregnancy. you can safely take 5000 IU during pregnancy too! I would start taking one, won't hurt anything at all.

I have been taking it since our first cycle back at the RE when we were TTC this baby. I asked my OB if I should continue to take it and he said that it won't hurt anything and that some docs say that it can be beneficial. He wasn't very clear about what the benefits were, but I have continued to take it every day just in case it will improve my health or the health of my baby.

I have been taking vit D supplements for a while now, and am still taking them during this pregnancy. I just take a Nature Made vit D gel capsule. I'm in Western NY - and women here have a high incidence of low vit D because we have such little sunlight! It's really no biggie. Good luck! :hugs:

it can be a big deal if it is excessively low...mine was. To the point where they tested me for osteoporosis because it was incredibly concerning.
Most of the time it's not...but it can be :)

I hope that you can get your levels up to the right amount. I am good on mine but then again I have always taken a supplement and they have never said anything about my levels. A vacation would be nice though... can I go with?
