Calculations say I'm 6 weeks pregnant but due to bleeding we've had 2 ultrasounds already and haven't saw anything. . . . .is this normal?

So on June 28th I took a home pregnancy test because I had been sick to my stomach every day all day for a week. Although I had my period June 13th (or what I thought was my period; I had light bleeding the first 2 days and spotting the next 3 days which isn't normal for me) I still thought I could be pregnant because we have been trying for the past year. I took the test at 6:30 that morning to make sure my urine was at it's peak. It showed positive right away. I took 2 more that day which both showed up positive. Over the next week I would take one every few days just to make sure they was still saying positive (as I was in shock that it had finally happened; even took one 2 days ago that said positive just a few seconds after I peed on it). We went to the doctor on July 9th for an ultrasound because I had started bleeding after sex the Saturday before (I now think I may have been one of the unlucky women who have their periods while pregnant) and our midwife had suggested we go in just to make sure everything was okay. They done an abdominal ultrasound and didn't see anything so they done a vaginal ultrasound and still didn't see anything. The doctor told us to come back in 2 weeks and he should be able to see something by then. Well that appointment was today. By our calculations and all the online calculators I have done they say we should be exactly 6 weeks today. He done a vaginal ultrasound didn't see anything, done an abdominal ultrasound didn't see anything, so he done another vaginal ultrasound and still didn't see anything. He told us it could be 1 of 3 things; we aren't far enough along to see anything, it's an ectopic pregnancy, or it started and just fizzled out. They drew blood and we go back on Tuesday to see what my HCG level is. He said it has to be at least 1000 to 1500 before he can see anything so if it's less that's why we are not seeing anything and if it's more then he has to assume it's ectopic. Has anybody else had this happen or been in a similar situation? (p.s. all the ovulation/due date predictors say with the first day of my last "period" being June 13th we shouldn't have got a positive test until July 12th but we got one on June 28th. Could we have just been one of the few to find out as soon as it happened?) HELP!!!!!!!! I have 2 other children with whom I had perfect pregnancies so this one is taking a toll on us.

It really could be that you are too early. There was no sack present in the uterus? Hopefully your beta will tell you more. I know with my blighted ovum we saw a sack and yolk sack but no baby. My betas started going down which meant an inevitable miscarriage. Good luck.

I'm thinking we are just too early too. I've not really had any cramping or hurting to think anything is wrong. No they barely could see the uterus (not sure what that was all about). Thanks for your reply! Any help is greatly appreciated as I'm trying not to stress out (easier said than done).

They weren't able to see anything until I was about 7 weeks. I only had a little spotting but no bleeding like a period. I had luteual cysts on both sides for 3 months which is why they said i was cramping and spotting. Hope it's just too early :fingerscrossed: GL:)

You said that you had your period, or what you thought was your period, starting June 13th? And it wasn't normal for you. When was the start of your last 'normal' period? It does seem highly abnormal for you to have started the 13th and had a + on the 28th, even with you ovulating like way early in your cycle. And when you're talking positive, do you mean like a faint line or a blaring line?

Thanks MissPrego I'm hoping we are just too early too!!!! CeCe 1975 the last normal period was May 14th but of course if you go by that date I would definitely be far enough along to see something. And the lines are in your face positive. Nothing faint about them and they show up as soon as the urine hits them.

Well, hopefully you're just too early to see anything. It has definitely happened. Go in one week and there's nothing, and go in 2 weeks later and there's a tiny bean with a heartbeat :) Will be praying that the betas tell them something and the next u/s you have will show a tiny babe. KUP

Had a little blood when I wiped last night and a little today when I used the bathroom only. Got home was going thru pics and a few hours later felt a flow of something, went to the bathroom and it was blood. Not much but enough to feel. Went and got pads and picked up a pack of digital tests. Took one and it's 9 p.m. and it came up positive. I'm not hurting so I don't know why we are getting so many positive tests but all this bleeding with no pain and ultrasounds with nothing showing. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!:conf:

Hopefully the blood test will give more information. Did you have your blood drawn once, or twice? It's good to have it done twice so you can see if your levels are rising the way they should.

Only once so far which was yesterday. Either going to a different doctor today or the emergency room!:conf:

You may actually want to hit the ER. This kind of worries me with the bleeding and positive tests that you may have a tubal pregnancy. Although many woman continue to bleed the first few weeks of a pregnancy.

Because we don't have insurance I'm afraid what the cost of the E.R. would be. I'm going to my previous ob-gyn at 3:45 to see if they can help! Thanks for your concern and advice. It's greatly appreciated at a scaetime like this!

So we went to the doctor again yesterday because of bleeding. They done ANOTHER ultrasound and still didn't see anything either in the uterus or outside of the uterus. He sent me to have my hcg level checked. Got the results this morning and it's 3368!! He thinks we have been miscarrying but my level is still really high. Gotta go back again Monday to have it checked again. Wish we could figure out what's going on!!!!

That is very strange. Although, I will tell you my numbers were 13,000 and we only saw a gestational and yolk sac. They were 43,000 before we could see a baby and heartbeat. I hope you get some answers soon.

Yeah very strange! Things just aren't adding up right unless we miscarried and got pregnant right afterwards. Hope to get answers SOON!!!!!!

Samething happen to me!

Hcg level last Thursday was 4900 on Friday it had dropped to 3368 so unfortunately we lost our baby. Thanks for all the input and advice tho. You ladies have been a great help! :aww:

I am so sorry Momma. It took my levels forever to drop too. I ended up going the D&C route because after 2 weeks of waiting I had nothing going on.
