Anyone make pickles - not the fridge kind but the real kind? My cukes got crazy out of control! I am happy but there are way too many for fridge pickles....I may need a barrel or something!

Here is my Great-Grandmother's recipe. I've made them once and they were good, but it took a lot of time. Now I just make a fride kind because it's fast and easy. We have a second fridge in the basement and we keep them in jars or ice cream buckets for up to a year.
Real Dill Pickles:
Pickles, Dill, Garlic
16 cups water
2 cups vinegar
1 cup salt
3/4 cup pickling salt
6 Tablespoons sugar
1 Tablespoon pickling spice
7 quart jars
Bring to a boil. Pack pickles in jars with dill and a garlic clove in each jar fill top and bottom with dill. Pour solution over pickles. COver jars but not too tight. Put jars in boiling water bath. Boil until pickles turn slightly yellow about 2-3 min. Take out and tighten lids.
**Let pickles stand in ice cold water before washing and packing into jars.
we do a recipe where you pour hot (boiling) water over the top and return the lids and they seal...you don't necessarily have to hot water bath them(I like mine a bit more crunchy) you just have to be sure they seal...i've never had an issue with them not.
