i need advice
im pretty confident im pregnant but the problem is i dont want the father to have any rights. he is sort of mentally slow and unemployed. i would have to pay for everything and i cant bear the thought of being imprisoned in this state forever. I just applied to a job in another state and have an interview by phone. is it a crime if i left him behind? i dont want him holding me back !
thanks

Certainly not a crime and you need to do what's best for you and your child, however I think you might want to look at his point of view and how you would feel if you had a child that you didn't know about. Also if you raise your child as a single parent... You of course will be paying for everything anyways.

Just a heads up....in most states, if he finds out you have a child together he can sue to get rights...
Why not just go about it the correct way? Tell him you're pregnant and ask him to sign off on his rights. That way, you won't have to worry about him or his family finding out and making demands. I've seen it happen before... Good luck!

Do it the right way. Your kid will deserve to know who their father is, whether or not you like the guy or not. (And the guy deserves to know he has a child.) You chose to sleep with the guy, it's the honorable thing to do to let him know.
But first, find out for sure if you are pregnant or not. If you're not, it's a non-issue.

he wont sign his rights away. and ill be imprisoned here forever

If you are pregnant, you're the child's mother and you are the only one that can make that decision. However, I do agree with the other posts. He does deserve to know, and your child deserves to have a chance at having a relationship with his/her father. Whether he's mentally slow or unemployed, he could end up being an amazing father.

You're not "imprisoned" in the state the child's father lives in. My ex lives 2500 miles away. There's no law that says you need to be neighbors...you just need to do everything the right way. When I wanted to move for work, I told him I was going and notified the child support agency. It took a whole 10 minutes.
