Ultimately I plan to get an Ergo but probably not until the girls are 6 months.
For the infancy (I expect 3 to 4 lb babies) what is a good wrap/sling/carrier? Specifically one that might hold both girls or one that works well with breastfeeding.
I remember having a Hotsling and somewhat looking it for one baby. Tried Moby and despised it.
I have actually been wondering the same thing... Been looking but can't find anything that looks good for little little ones.
I know the moby can do twins :)
I like my moby so that's not much help. I plan on doing two in the Moby and one with someone else in a sling or just rotating in a sling but not counting on BFing. Hoping to keep up with pumping.
I have an Ergo and it's great but I really love my Boba which is similar. You might look into it as well.
I was going to say moby because I loved mine with the girls. Sorry.
Moby was pretty much the main one that could hold both babies well, and mine held both twins even after 10 months while standing and walking, and well after that for just sitting.
However, I found that having both twins in a wrap or carrier, or even one in a carrier was pretty difficult for me. My babies have tended to cry with every pee, and that is super-frequent in infancy. I was having to take one baby out or another every 10 minutes to change them. I couldn't do housework because I had to support them when I bent over. I couldn't cook because I was worried about spattering them with something hot, or when they were older, having them grab things. I was pretty disappointed that I wasn't a natural at wraps or carriers, because my mom, way back in the early 70's, used to design and sell her own baby slings in flea markets for extra cash, and even now she makes my children baby-sized slings. I have this legacy of baby carriers I've grown up with and I just don't do well with them.
The only time it worked for me was during nap time or on airplanes. They always napped on me, up until about 18 months old, so I could support them in a wrap and sit at the computer or have them sleep on a plane without having to hold their heads up.
I can't think of any other good sling or wrap that would be good for multiples, honestly, but maybe one of the babywearing websites might be better able to help.
PS: I'm going to merge your two threads so people will just reply to one.
For those who used a Moby with 2 babies, did the weight of the babies affect how long you could comfortably wear both (meaning how many hrs per day, not how many months overall)? Also, did you find that your wore them more at home, more when you were out, or both? Thanks!
I don't have multiples but I know someone on another board that wrapped her twins with woven wraps. Not as stretchy as a Moby so maybe more secure?
