Well... I have to go to Japan for work, which I'm not looking forward to. The work days are long there, and then you have to spend your evenings "being entertained" by colleagues. I'll come back home exhausted. Beyond that and a trip back east to see DH's family, we have no plans for a pleasure trip anytime in the near future.
:(
We're not opposed to last-minute getaways like the kind you find from Travelzoo, so who knows? Maybe we'll get lucky.

We're going to Hawaii in December! I've been there twice but DH has never been. Talk about excited. We're going to the big island which neither of us has been on.

The only one that is on the plans is Mexico in November, to visit my family

We are having a really hard time deciding! We have three weeks off in November. We are thinking of the following:
1. Rent an RV and tour the Southwestern United States. It's easy, safe, on the boring side, but we wouldn't have to worry about childproofing hotel rooms or dealing with how to get the twins to sleep in different places.
2. South or Central America. It's complicated, difficult, and involves a long flight with two toddlers, but is definitely more interesting, and we've never been there. We would pick a reasonably inexpensive country where the dollar is still worth something, and select a couple of home bases. From those home bases, we could make day trips out and about, but would only have to worry about unpacking/packing two or three times at the most. One more potential downside would be the possibility of foodborne or other illnesses in a vulnerable age group, outside of our health care system.
3. Southeast Asia. DH would prefer Laos--he's been there, I have not. Same issues as #2, but with the additional complication of more time zones and jet lag for the babies.
Anyway, there are a lot of issues to think about. I just read a collection of child-related travel stories called How to Fit a Car Seat on a Camel and it was frightening and inspiring at the same time. I felt like a wimp for being at all nervous about traveling with the babies, but then on the other hand, they can't even sleep if they're not physically touching me, so how does that work in a hotel, when we're not safely on a mattress on the floor? I just go back and forth, back and forth....
Sorry for the long reply.

We are going to my parents' place in Sarasota, FL in October. DH really wants to go back home to Slovenia, but I cannot handle that long flight, 3 plane changes, with a new baby.

In November I will go to NYC for my BFF's wedding, it is going to be like the traditional Chinese wedding...I can't wait!
Then I come home and pack again because 10 days later we will go to Peru, we'll stay there for 3 weeks and hopefully have enough time to visit another town or even take the Amazon River cruise that takes you to either Brazil or Colombia...sounds like fun!
Next year I am planning a trip to either Puerto Rico again or Dominican Republic, I will know by the end of the year...if anybody wants to join us, you are welcome to come!! I am looking for vacation buddies.
