I'm soooo jealous! It's supposed to be in the low 50's this weekend here. BRRRR!!! Right now it's 41, but feels like 32! It's crazy! Last weekend was beautiful here, sunny and warm... 75 degrees. Now it feels like winter!

Thanks HollyJo, I really feel like I know some of you so well because I have been a lurker for SOOOOO long.

About weather, I even asked DH what I was supposed to do with Amanda this morning. It has always been so hot since she was born. I'm not used to dressing her warm. Socks? Ha! I'm getting better though. I had to pull out the hats and blankets this morning.

I'm looking forward to the snow. I can't wait to introduce it to Amanda.

I guess that means Christmas is just around the corner. I was in Wal-Mart yesterday...they have Christmas stuff out!!!! All the decorations looked so cool!

Here I am over here in hot 'ole Texas, super duper jealous of ya'lls snow & cold weather! Today, it got a little chilly in the morning, but by the afternoon it'll be back in the mid 70's! Lame!! Do you know the last time I saw snow? Ummm...I can't even remember! It's like every once in a blue moon! :( Enjoy it ladies, or move to Texas & then we can all hang out in the heat! :D Now, that would be fun!

P.S. Just wanted to say I love all you girls & I hate drama & that's all! :D Oh, & I hope it's ok that I posted in here, 'cause I just like to pop in on this thread every now & then! It's hard work to keep up with it!

Christmas is the one time of year I wish I was more religious because I LOOOOVE Christmas songs SOOOO much - and not the secular ones - the real christmas songs. I would so love to sing in a church choir - but I don't belong to a church and it would probably be a little hypocritical too.

But oh my goodness I love to sing and I love Christmas songs!!!!

Honestly though, that was the last Karaoke song I sang. My show had closed, I was 9 months pregnant with Stella and we all went out (Karaoke is BIG in Hawaii) and we sang Christmas songs! It was so fantastic.

I wish Karaoke was hotter here. Instead of the joke it is. People in Hawaii are good... they Karaoke for real.

It was foggy this morning - and I LOVED it! Its burning off now though making way for a new bright sunny day!

So for my job at BRU, I have to go shopping today. The dress code requires slacks (don't own any - make my thighs look chunky) a belt (ha!), and a white collared or t-neck shirt (yeah, I'm a mom. I don't do white.) Oh yeah, and I donated all but my favorite 5 pairs of shoes (3 of which are fancy) so I have to get shoes too. Just when I had decided not to spend any more money shopping!

Holly Jo and Diva, was yesterday your day with MM? Wondering how it went. Hope you had a great time.

I took Katie to her first football game. Our Youth group went to the UNC game Saturday. We got tixs for 10.00, so we all crammed into 4 cars and headed down. It didn't turn out so well. Katie hates to ride and it was almost a 2hr drive, UNC lost and through the game katie wanted to wiggle and fuss. She kept kicking the people in front of us. It was funny but having to say sorry a hundred times got old. I guess we will wait on taking her to another game. we can try basketball next, we have this cute Wake Forest cheerleading outfit.

Oh no Jai, gald the restraunt saved Bumbo. I take my everywhere also and i am sure one day I will leave it.

so are you taking your kids trick or treating? Katie will be 5 months and can't eat candy but I want to do something for Halloween. I got her a costume and it fit pretty good about a month ago. I am just hoping she will not hit a groth spurt. Here is pics. If any of you have any ideas that I can do with her let me know.

Although I have to say how much I was admiring the real ones the other day. Its been almost 10 years since I've actually been able to enjoy fall. But the best was when I was living on Long Island - they would pile the leaves in the parks and I would take the kids I was a nanny for and we would go and jump in them.

The worst part was me wading through the pile first making sure no one had put anything dangerous under the leaves. Ew. SO much dirt.

I'm thinking 18 months isn't alot larger than 12 months b/c they're supposed to be longer and leaner at that point? Ciara has on a pair of 18 months size PJ's ( a T and capri set) that I picked up on clearance. The T is a little long, but I think once it's been washed a couple of times, there isn't going to be alot of roominess to it...Maybe she's just put on a few pounds, but she only hit the 4th percentile last visit....

I'm not sure, but I think you're right, Sherry. The reason Caleb is in 12 months already is because he's so tall. He's in the 90th percentile for height, but 50th for weight. He's tall and lean already.

Pam, is that a slice of pizza that Morgan is holding in your new siggy pic???? She's just a doll!!

I had to buy Pey an 18 mo coat. They didnt have any in 6-9 mo, and the 12 mo sleeves were only a little shorter. So I got the 18 mo and just rolled the sleeves a little. These sizes are crazy.

We had to buy Caleb an 18 mon. jacket too. He tried on the 12 mon, which fits him now so I didn't want to buy that and have to buy another one in January.

Snowsuits... what are those again???? ugh :?

We gave Dani some pizza, just with the cheese, and she loved it... she actually eats ANYTHING when it comes to table food... gave her fish and she loved it! this morning I gave her some of my yogurt, and she was a happy camper!! gotta go find those for babies!
DH's son is so picky about food I hate it!! that is why I am making Dani try different foods... I don't want her to end up on a mac&cheese, french fries and chicken nuggets diet like SK!!

I got another U/S today because the doctor couldn't hear the HB last Friday... baby is fine!! 157 bpm and he/she was waiving at us!!!

We haven't tried too many table foods with Caleb yet. I'm totally clueless about it and I'm not sure what's okay to give him..... but I guess anything is okay? He's had chicken, carrots, pototoes, toast, roast, meatballs, crackers and if there's been anything else I can't remember. Is it okay to just give him whatever, besides things he can choke on obviously.

DIVADLX
10-17-2006, 11:18 AM
There are some things to wait with - like egg whites and peanuts, but I think after 9 months they can have pretty much anything!

Stella had pico de gallo for the first time and loved it the other day!

Aly - I am in the same boat as you though. Stella has a limited food repertoire because mama is unsure what is ok to give her, I won't give her foods with much sodium or sugar (for the most part) which knocks out "give her whatever I'm eating." Plus she really doesn't like pureed foods anymore, so they need to be finger foods.

She eats a lot of cheese toast and pears. Or pasta and kiwi. Or Cottage cheese and steamed apple in our house.

YellowRose
10-17-2006, 11:25 AM
Caleb's tried cottage cheese... he hated it. I tried mixing it with fruit, but he wouldn't eat it. I don't blame him... I can't stand the stuff either. So far, that's the only thing he hasn't liked. He can have egg yolks now? How would I cook them.. just like scrambled eggs, but without the whites? I really don't know what I'd do without you girls.... I am SO clueless when it comes to this kinda stuff!

DIVADLX
10-17-2006, 11:50 AM
Yep! Egg yolks are good now... After separating the yolk, I'll sometimes cook it more "omlette" style... I'll just plop it into a non-stick pan (or my griddle) and then after a few minutes flip it over and cook the other side. That makes it easier to cut after too.

Stella really likes egg yolk. Its such a great source of nurtients too!

YellowRose
10-17-2006, 12:03 PM
Hm! I didn't know that about egg yolks! We'll have to try that... maybe for dinner, Caleb can have egg yolk! I don't know if he'll like it though... if he's anything like me, he wont. I HATE eggs and always have, even when I was a baby. Hopefully, he'll like them!

NO!! I didn't let her eat it we were just playing!!! I am having a hard time with food. Its not that I don't want her to grow up and eat real people food because I do. Its just I don't want to make her body take foods its not ready for. She has tried meat once and it gave her gas so bad she cried all night. So for right no we are fruit and veggies and yogurt only. I do give her fruit and veggies off our plate but so far no meat. I don't want to be up all night with her and gas again. Dr said to wait until she was 9 months old for meat but I gave it to her on Sunday because we are so close to 9 months. Ugh that was a long/bad night poor thing was in so much pain from chicken baby food. :( Thats what makes the pic so funny to me. She looks like she would love to eat it even though she hasn't even tried it. LOL

I totally understand! I am not by any means a vegetarian or anything, but I have SUCH a hard time giving her meat! I mean, she is still breastfed so she doesn't need it, but I just feel weird giving it to her. Also she has NEVER liked it the times I have cooked her up a little ground beef or given her a little bite of chicken.

I don't know why its hard for me to give her meat. I really don't.

It's an even cuter pic just because she wasn't eatting it! LOL She looks like she'd LOVE a bite!!!

Caleb hasn't had any problems with meat. We waited until about 8 1/2 months before we introduced meat, and then when we did, we gave him a veggie/fruit and meat combo. He really liked the chicken and apples or pears and chicken. He didn't like the beef. I don't give him meat very often, I've given him real chicken two or three times and he loves it. He's tried roast and meatballs, but just small bites.

10-17-2006, 01:06 PM

newmami
10-17-2006, 01:35 PM
Pam, I don't blame you from wanting to hold on meats if they upset Morgan's tummy! I would do the same.
I am trying to share my food with Dani, as long as it is OK with my common sense... we haven't tried eggs, I am paranoid and we don't have allergies in our families... but we tried cheese, turkey breast, ham, hamburger meat, chicken, and fish... I am hesitant to try another type of red meat as she doesn't have teeth yet... so she is still eating mushy food (stage 3) for the main feeding, but trying other things as well... including cinnamon rolls and pancakes!!

I say do whatever you feel comfortable with!!

I am going to try with other fruits and veggies... our selection of fruit here SUCKS!! and the pears & apples were too hard for her to chew.... I may steam them or shred them!!

Thanks Jai for the post... I am able to breathe again after the U/S!!!

We are taking Morgan Trick or Treating but just to family. We will only be making 3-4 stops but they will be long stops! I know we will spend at least an hour at my moms!

I need a spot to make a small DH vent...... (hope you all don't mind  )

So Morgan is 9 months today her weight is now at 16 pounds. Well I have started letting her taste things off my dinner plate not all of it healthy  . Any way last night I gave Morgan 1/2 of one JR. Mint (not 1/2 a box but 1/2 of one mint!!) . Dh started going on how she was going to be 300 lbs by the time she is 3. Yes she is a litle chunky and he is right I guess I should only let her eat things that are good for her. But if we are going to make that a rule for her then it needs to be a rule for us too! If she can't have ice cream then DH can't sit in the living room and eat a 1/2 gal while watching TV. Its not fair to her. I guess I just felt like he was saying I was doing some thing bad to Morgan. I know it was wrong but its hard to tell her now when you can tell she so wants to try it. :vibes: Ok I am done venting now. Thanks :soapbox:

BBKCD
10-18-2006, 08:24 AM
I don't think 16 lbs is chunky  Or that 1/2 of a junior mint is going to set her up for obesity or a lifetime of bad eating habits, either.

I will probably just take Ciara trick or treating by the neighbors to show her off  And my play group has a Halloween party, too, so it will be fun to see all the little ones in costume.

We are going to a Halloween Party at DHs aunts cabin on Sat. Theres trick or treating, games, and a pumpkin patch. Its gonna be so much fun. Marissa looks forward to it every year.

On Halloween, we're goin to my moms. Ill take Marissa trick or treating, and Pey will stay at my moms passing out candy in her costume. :)

Pam, first 16 lbs is NOT chunky. Gosh, I hope not. Pey was 15lb 1oz at her appt (5.5 mon). I dont see anything wrong with letting her try things. Like you said, it was 1/2 of one, not 1/2 a box. It was just a taste. I wouldve been mad at DH too.

I would like to think I am going to be supper mom and only give DD things that are good for her but............ My mom didn't let us have pop and candy that often and it seemed like such a forbidden treat that now that I am an adult and can buy it myself I eat/drink way to much of the stuff. When my ex re-married, the witch was putting my girls (then 7 and 11) on a diet when they were with them ( joint custody, a week on, a week off). She was putting them on the diet for her wedding. I was PISSED. As a person who had a problem with anorexia as a teen, I do not put up with that sort of crap, AT ALL. They were not "fat" to begin with.

Pam, I think it's a positive thing to let them have some junk, in moderation, when they're kids. Otherwise they will get sneaky about food, or they become obsessed with what they're not allowed. I think you're right on with the way you look at it.

You know, my mom was the same way with pop. We werent allowed to have it. Once I moved out, and I could buy it and drink it whenever I wanted to......yea.........thats the major reason for my weight probs. I let Marissa have candy, and now shell sometimes want some. But not very often. She doesnt seem it as just a special thing, so its not tempted.

I try to give Dani healthy food as well, but hey yesterday she ate a vanilla waffer... does that make me a bad mom??? I DON'T THINK SO!!! it is a little treat, I am not feeding her with reeses cups!!

Nope. I was like WTF! I gave my ex heck about it, too. Talk about setting a couple of little girls up for body image problems  And what made it really obscene Jai?--She has 2 little boys who were scrawny, but could eat anything w/o gaining an ounce, so she would take them out for ice cream while my girls would watch! And then she enrolled her kids in the same school my girls went to, and her little boys would look to see what I had packed for their lunch when they were with me, and if they didn't think it was on the girl's diet? They would threaten my daughters that they were going to go tell Katherine!
She was such an evil witch. Ended up making my ex-husband's life h*ll, too. The marriage lasted a year.

Sherry, I didn't know you had more kids. And Katie got up at 6 also but I am so lazy I lay back down with her in the mornings. Today she slept from 930 to 1230. I guess I am a bad wife because I should have gotten up and cleaned, took a shower and got ready but the nap felt so good. Dh doesn't get home till 8 tonight so i have time to clean and shower. And as far as DH letting his new wife put your kids on a diet, i would have smacked her and him.

Pam, 16 pounds is great for a 9 month old. DD is 16 pounds already!! And she was on just formula when she hit 16 pounds. Now that she is eating baby food I am hoping she will lose some but who cares, i love my chub-chub. I was a fat baby, and skinny teenager and now I am a fat mom. OK... this gave me such a headache because I was SO angry!!!!

Michael - How dare she? How did you not run her over with a taxi or something? My mom had me on diets from about 9 years old until I left and I think that it did more damage to my self esteem than being fat ever did. How can someone be so incredibly selfish and stupid - put a 7 and 11 year old on a diet... grrrr....

Pam - Giving her a little something is not going to set her up for an eating disorder. And for the record, at Stella's 9 month appointment she was 18 3/4 pounds, so in my opinion, 16 is not anywhere over reasonable. I would just be careful of chocolate - I have heard it can be very bad for babies (but it sounds like she tolerated it well!) I totally understand what you mean about you wanting him to think you're a good mom. The other day DH and I had a long conversation about putting the spark back in and how I think part of it is that we don't impress each other the right ways anymore. I realized that I was trying to impress him with what a good mother I could be - yeah, how sexy is that... oh honey - I love how you just blew a raspberry on her belly and made her laugh - I want you now. Riiiiight.

Yeah, my little chickadee slept in until 10 this morning. Yeah. I love 'er.

OK I vented this week about DH and the 1/2 a Jr Mint! Here is the newest thing.

He comes to me last night and says...........My mom says Morgan should be walking by now. She says I walked at 8 months. She says its because you put Morgan in soft shoes and not hard soled ones that are heavy..........AhHHHHH!!!

Well I informed him that I was told bare foot or soft shoes are the best for when they are learning to walk. Am I wrong!! And my mil needs to MHOB!! Its not bad that DD doesn't walk yet!! She is doing great! She will walk if you hold her hands and she will pull her self up on things and walk around them.

Ugh why does he insist on making me feel like a bad mom.

OK now that the vent is over should I be buying her diff shoes?

Caleb is just a few weeks older than Morgan, he's not walking yet either. He'll walk holding onto things, like the coffee table or my hands just like Morgan.

So what if you Dh was walking by 8 months, that doesn't mean Morgan will be. Every baby is different and every baby will do things at a different time. I was walking by 9 months, am I worried because Caleb isn't walking? No, he's not walking yet because he's not ready to. I practice with him every day, but he's not going to do it until he's ready. We can't force them to do something they aren't ready to do yet. Don't worry about it! You're a GREAT mom and Morgan is just fine!!!

As for the shoes, my mom and grandma told me that bare foot is best for a baby learning to walk, they can learn to balance better that way.

newmami
10-19-2006, 03:07 PM
No you are not doing anything wrong!! just because DH walked early it doesn't mean Morgan will follow the pattern. She is still young and she is fine!!! maybe Grant needed to learn how to walk b/c his mom would not carry him around!! :?

It used to be that the hard shoes were best (I know my parents put those on me), but now they have realized they can deform the feet on babies, so the BEST is either bare foot or those soft shoes!! YOU ARE RIGHT!!!

Grrr, makes me want to find an article online about shoes and sent it to your DH and MIL, so they can SHUT UP!!!!

Edited to say: Found one!!! http://www.webmd.com/content/article/42/1739_50207.htm

ARGH!!!! :x (sorry, I am having a very grrr day!!)

Pam, you are doing GREAT. You are not doing anything wrong. 9 months is kind of early to be walking. And it sounds like Miss M is doing a great job of getting it down pat. Ignore her, and him for that matter.

Pam, are we married to the same man??? My MIL butts into my business and tells me how bad I am but she sent DH away also. What makes me even madder is the fact that they still think thier mommies is all that!!!

Morgan is a doll and doing great. You are a great mom. My Dr told me that between 12-15 months is when to expect walking.

Just to be a parrot... you are not wrong! The OLD wisdom (you know, of the same age of doctors prescribing smoking for nerves?) was that hard solid shoes were better. BUT they've now found that babies can balance and "find" the ground better in soft soled shoes or bare feet.

And as far as him thinking she's behind - tell him to be proud of the baby he has not the baby he "thinks" he should have! She's wonderful and just right.

Tell him to stick it. And then tell your MIL to go and eat dirt with my MIL.

I am a no shoes person too!! I HATE shoes!! I wear them because I have to... but at home, NO SHOES FOR ANYONE!!!

Speaking of shoes... DH hates the soft ones, he said they are ugly... well Dani loves them, so I am going to buy more!!!

I talked to Dh about my frustration at work, and he was very insensitive, he said I better open my mouth and ask for work or I will be looking for another job... so I cried myself to sleep... I feel so alone and without support... don't know what I would do without you girls :(

Can I get some cyber hugs please???????

Thanks Ladies! I just get upset because DH's mom did not raise him and know noting about kids but she tells DH all these things I am doing wrong and then he comes looking down his nose at me. For goodness sakes I just want to say if you mom know so much about raising kids why did she send you away! When you were home why did she make you stay with your grandma. AND WHY the one time we let Morgan stay with her for 45 minutes did Morgan scream the whole time.

Ugh I just have to remind myself this is the same lady that gave her cat Morgans bottle to lick and chew on then help Morgan down and forced her to drink the rest!

I don't care what MIL has to say it just hurts that DH thinks she is right and I am wrong.

BTW thanks Claudia I am printing that off now and I am going to put it in DH's bath room! LOL

How was everyone's weekend?

DIVADLX
10-23-2006, 02:24 AM
It was great! My college roommate got here on Saturday, we went to BRU to do a little shopping and I was able to (off the clock) sell and expectant mother a PISA. Yay! Then we went home and made homemade pizza.

Today was awesome though. We went to Mount Rainier National Park - it was so beautiful! And then we went to the pumpkin patch, had our first ever hay ride and, well, bought pumpkins. It was a fantastic day.

That is until I went to the safeway and watched this horrible woman THROW her kid into the car then proceed to whack her HARD multiple times. Why? Because the kid wanted something at the store and instead of investing a minute in talking to the kid she just said "no, come on!" and started yanking her out of the store. All the way through the parking lot she pulled this crying scared little girl, and she must have been pinching her or something because she was crying "ouchie ouchie ouchie!" Threw her (literally) into the car, and "spanked" (I would say beat) her.

What the heck do you do????? Seriously. I just want there to be something we can do or say in situations like that that might actually help the parent be a better parent. Not just hide their vicious tendencies until they get to the car.

Jeez. They're kids. Be tender.

Yeah, I got in the car shaking and cried.

OMG Jenn!! I don't know what I would have done... I try to mind my own business, but I feel so bad for kids when they are mistreated :(

Weekend was OK, it was so hot it wasn't funny!! (over 90F).... went out to look fo toys for Danielle's b-day and cribs for the new baby!! had a looong conversation with DH about lots of things, and got into some agreements. If his insurance covers PG, we are switching next year... so we don't have to worry if I have the chance to work from home. He is also getting more supportive and understanding... why do I have such a hard time talking to him, when he is nothing but open to hear and help????

Glad to hear you and DH could talk about things. I hope you find a way to work from home so you can stay home with your kid'os.

Jenn, I dont know what the heck I would have done besides what you did. How horrible. :(

Claudia, Im so happy that you and your DH talked and came to some agreements. Im so happy for you. :)

Fri we just sat around. Marissa and I made cupcakes for a party the next day. And fri night DH and Marissa made personal pan pizzas. She had a blast.

Sat we went to the halloween party. THe kids dressed up, trick or treated at the cabins and played some games in the clubhouse. Marissa went on a hay ride with her couisns and got to pick a pumpkin. It was a lot of fun.

Sat night we went out with a couple (friend of DHs from KDG, and his GF) to a sports bar and watched the Tigers game. But they lost. :(

Yea, its pretty chilly here too.

Aly, of its too cold to go to an actual pumpkin patch you could always just get a pumpkin from the store. When Marissa was little and it was too cold to actually go to a pumpkin patch, DH used to bring home a couple from work. That way I could still get pics of her with a pumpkin. :D

Claudia I cannot watch anything remotly freaky when DH isnt home. I watched The Butterfly Effect one night when he was coaching a hockey game. Yea I almost freaked out. So Id turn it off, then wanted to know what happened so Id turn it back on. It ended up being a VERY long movie.

I am soooooo bad. Me and Marissa were sittin here watching Scooby Doo before I got her ready for school. Taking advantage of Pey still sleeping. Marissa went into the kitchen to get a juice box and says "Mom I have early school today". Me - "OMG YOU DO" School started 20 min from when she said that. So me and her are running around getting her ready, and luckily DH was plannin on driving her today since I would have never been able to get her and Pey ready. Well there gone. Hey all, I feel like I haven't spoke to you in days!!

Having some hard days my way. DD is not sleeping!!!!! This has been going on for about 5 days now. I thought it was because I put her crib back together (i had it into the day bed and up against my bed), so the other night i told DH to sleep on the couch and put her in my bed, well that didn't work and last night I put her crib back against mine and that didn't work. I have snapped a few times also  I feel so bad, i am the worst mommy in the world. Katie normally takes a 3 hr nap in hte morning, so the other day I put her down and and she woke up a few mins later crying. She cried from 9-11, i tried every thing. Well I snapped and spanked my poor 5 month old baby. She woke me up last night at 2am, she thinks it is play time!! She is not hungry, not hurting, no teeth coming through. She justs wants to get up. It is already a chore to get her to go to sleep. We now have to give her a bottle ot get her down!! I want to break her from that but I really need some sleep. i have screamed all day today. I know it is where i am going on 2-4 hrs a night. Any suggestions please let me know. Especially something to help me not lose my cool. I can't think about the other morning when i spanked Katie without crying.

Being a mom can be so frustrating sometimes!! Just remember that sometimes, you have to walk away. And if it really comes down to it, put her in a safe place and go and get some sleep while she's awake. Or maybe ask dh to take her for a few hours so you can rest. Lack of sleep can do crazy things to you.

You have such a sweet little girl and just try to remind yourself that she is *only* five months old. That's all the longer she's had to try to adjust to this world... you've had ump-teen years! She's still learning so much!

Is she hungry when she wakes up at night? Could she have gas? Could she have growing pains (a very real thing - I remember!!)? There are just so many things that could be keeping her awake and I really hope you figure out what's going on soon.

How long has she been waking up like this?

Just remember to breathe! I am praying things get better for you!

Dani is feeling better! I think it was her teeth, I took her to daycare and she was fine... I also think she misses Daddy A LOT!!!

I am sorry Katie has been waking up! I can imagine how frustrated and tired you are... my best suggestion when you start losing it is to leave her on the crib, SAFE, and walk out of the room to cool down... crying babies are frustrating, and on a tired mommy I am sure is worst!
Maybe she is hungry or gassy? or teething?? what about trying some tylenol and see if that helps!!

Hope she gets back to sleeping well, so you can get a good rest

Thanks, things are still the same. She crys because she is fighting sleep. We always go through about 45 mins of crying to get her to sleep and very few times she will cry for up to 3 hrs. I normally am cool headed but for some reason that one time I flipped. Now i didn't hurt her by no means. I popped her butt and i know she barely felt it but it hurt her feelings and scared her to see me so frazzled. I hope and pray it is a faze and she will get back to normal. Last night I got about 2 1/2 hrs. She is asleep right now but I can't sleep because my son has his girlfriend over.

anyway on a lighter note, what do you buy a 7 month baby for Christmas? I have no clue what she might like then. Right now her favorite toy is the remote or my cell. LOL!!!

oh Tracy that sucks! Stella would go through sleepless phases right before a tooth... and your beauty is right at the cusp of teeth and a growth spurt. Are you feeding her every time? I only aske because
I remember right around 6 months Stella had this enormous growth spurt where she seriously ate every 30 minutes. It got to the point where I had to put her down crying in the middle of the living room and go into the kitchen... where I let out the biggest "ggggrrrrr! What do you want?????" and I went back in and picked her up and fed her AGAIN. I was SO frustrated because I was like "you need sleep, but you keep crying because you are not sleeping, but you won't sleep!!!!!"

I say this without judgement - every mom loses it sometimes - but remember that leaving her to cry is better than hitting. Both suck, but just my $.02. I am so sorry you have that memory... but the good news is that it was just one time, so the likelihood that she'll remember it is pretty low. Its only really if you set a pattern that she'll start to be affected by it.

I hope that it gets better! Man, can that be frustrating!

On the lighter note... Stella is getting a glockenspiel, a potty, and probably a little Superman Laptop from Costco. She'll probably get a few other little things, but those are the biggies. Her birthday is just a week later so we'll have to think about that too.

7 months - I can't believe it but I cannot really remember anymore!!! Darned mommy brain!

I'm sorry your having rough nights, Tracy. Hopefully it'll calm down and you'll both be able to get some sleep soon.

For Christmas, I want to get Caleb one of those Fisher Price baby grand pianos, it looks like so much fun! I also saw a stuffed dog toy from Walmart that I want to get him, it plays Abc's, numbers, colors, body parts (head, eyes, ears, nose, mouth) and like 6 different songs. We may get him a play cell phone too.. he loves to play with ours. I'm sure he's going to get sooooo many presents, between my mom and Dh's mom, he'll be super spoiled!!!

7 months.... I can't remember either. I think we may have gotten his jumperoo between 6 and 7 months, but I'm not 100% sure. I really can't remember either!

Christmas is going to be so much fun!!! I can't wait to see how Branden reacts to everything. He might be crawling by then, oh no!

I have no idea what to get him. He'll be about 8 months but he already has a ton of stuff because my sis sells Discovery Toys and brought him all the stuff her kids used to play with.

I love hand me downs!

I'm so nerdy, I'll probably get him books.

We're traveling to Northern Kentucky to dh's parent's house for Turkey Day (actually for Turkey Week). They're cooking, but I'm sure I'll help out. It's right outside of Cincinnati, OH (which I love) so I'm really excited. There are so many good restaurants and things I want to do when we get there. WOOT!

OOOOOOH! Is anyone waking up super early on the day after to go shopping? We might. Brett and I did that two years ago and we actually had a ball! He was the one who asked me if we were going to do it again this year because it was fun:shock: My dh wants to get up early and go shopping... I think I just saw a pig fly!

I am going to my Grandmas (about 7 miles from my house) for Christmas dinner and we always go for a hike after dinner. I went last year and I was so preggo at the time. My grandpa didn't want me to go. LOL

The best part about thanksgiving is........ MY MIL goes to visit her family for a week!! And they live about 12 hours from us!! Wahoo a week without MIL!!! I get DH to myself! DH has two wifes his mother and myself and it falls in that order. Sorry didn't mean to turn this into a vent!

I love love love Thanksgiving!! I get up at 4 and go shopping the day after! I love love love that too!

I'm making Thanksgiving dinner this year. I did last year, just for Dh and I. This year we're having people over. I love cooking and I really enjoy cooking big holiday meals. I have so much fun!

This year Dh and I are getting up super early to go shopping the day after. We didn't get to last year because he had to work  , but this year he has it off. We are going shopping whether he wants to or not!

Is this the doggie you're talking about (why can't I talk normal anymore...doggie  ) Donovan loves this thing...he especially likes chewing on the ears. I'm sure Caleb would love it. You will too...not only does it have an off button, but it also has 2 volume levels. The lower volume level is perfect. He can hear it just find but it's not obnoxiously loud. BTW, I saw this at Walmart too. But, believe it or not, it was cheaper at BRU...$19.99.

Speaking of it getting cold... I've noticed this year that many of the deer in my area are really dark... I wonder if that means they have more fur and that it's going to be a bad winter. Has anyone else seen any signs of a good/bad winter (other than it snowing already  )?

YellowRose
10-30-2006, 06:52 PM
My grandpa noticed that there's a lot of corn this year... which supposedly means a bad winter. :?: I heard on the news that they are predicting it to be about 20 degrees COLDER this winter than normal! But I've also heard that it's supposed to be a mild winter because of El Nino. Personally, I think it's going to be a bad winter, for one it got cold super early. Two, we had a mild winter last year and a mild summer which usually means a bad winter.

mombeemer
10-30-2006, 06:59 PM
Well, I don't know about deer and corn, but the cold fronts we've had so far in Tampa have been extra cold for this time of year - early for us. And yes, cold is a relative thing! But I think it means the winter will be colder. Is this a La Nina year?

We are fighting about how we are spending Thanksgiving. I think I'm going to stay home and have a tv dinner!

I havent seen any signs either way of a bad winter or not. But Im REALLY REALLY hoping for a mild one. Its so cold already. And it sucks taking Marissa to school and bundleing them both up, and then having to take Pey in and out of her car seat over and over. (Drop off , go in school, come home, go back, go in, and then home) GRRR........

Thanksgiving will be with my in-laws I am sure.

It was close to 70 here today. I took Katie on the mountain to have pics taken. And tomm for Halloween they said it was going to be around 65. That is not normal for around here. I want to see snow but I am not prepared for a really cold winter.

Katie is starting to like cell phones and remotes. So i may get her one for chirstmas. And my mom has already bought books. I am going to have a train around the tree, i can't wait to see what she thinks about it. Ds loved it when he was that little.

Getting better. Last night she didn't wake at all (other than the normal wanting paci) and so far tonight she has been out since 830. I even changed her diaper and put on a footed sleeper without waking her. She wasn't eating all those times and still no teeth. I think she may have had gas or just too tired to sleep. Actually she has not been eating well for a few days. I keep thinking she is getting sick but one day she will show signs and the next be just fine. Thanks for asking.

Dani has an ear infection and I am starting to feel like crap... my tummy hurts and I want to lay down and sleep :?

A little late, but whatever!! DH is the one who does all the cooking for Thanksgiving, it would be us + his son (yippe  ). I am excited for Dani, but not that the Sk will be here.... Friday DH is going to work, so I will lounge at home and do NOTHING with Dani (I don't like shopping crowds)... I just hope he doesn't expect me to take care of his son!!

Tracy, I am glad Katie was able to sleep... I hope she is not getting sick!!

Well, DS loves the phone, remote, my sister's blackberry. My sis bought him this really colorful Fisher Price phone. He would still trade his right arm for the boring old "real people phone". A couple days ago, he was on my lap on the couch and caught a glimpse of the remote on the floor. He took a nose dive to get to it. Thankfully, I had a good arm around him. But, he was like a crazed person on crack or something the way he was struggling to get to the remote. Crazy boy! :)

So far this year I have already stood in line once at midnight to get a Elmo TMX and its not even November yet!! Man that was a sight you were only allowed to buy 2 (who needs more than two Elmo TMX's any way right!). Last year I culdn't shop being 8 months pregnant and 1 week from opening my show. This year working at BRU I'm not sure what'll happen! I'm not a crazy, but I love shopping on that day!

By the way... I had a oops last night... For the first time in all my 33 years of life I had unprotected you-know-what. I had been trying to convince myself that it would be ok, until I looked at my calendar... The first day of my last AF was 2 weeks ago tomorrow. yikes.

So please be praying that my cycle is off enough that this oops doesn't turn into a OH SH!T.

But on the bright side, my now 11 month dry spell has ended!
