I told DH I wished I had a job that makes me happy, but I don't know what that is anymore... then he said "don't you want to be a SAHM?", my answer was "yes, but I know that is never going to happen (HINT HINT IDIOT) so I have to find something I would be OK doing".... I don't think he got the hint

Funny thing is...she seems fine. Playing like normal. Go figure!
My sister is an overachiever. My parents have said they do not want to host a formal Thanksgiving next year, its too much (work) for them. My house is too small and my sister lives in a one bedroom condo in Buckhead Georgia. So my Dad suggested we have Thanksgiving (mind you I haven't even gotten past New Years or taken my tree down from this year) in DisneyWorld. My parents are paying for the hotel rooms for all of us. My parents and my sister are paying for my two older kids tickets into the theme parks as their Christmas presents so basically Rick and the baby and I just need to show up! How cool is that!
So I just get an e-mail confirmation for our room. told you she was an overachiever!

I am doing WW points, so I am bad with that stuff. But, I've had
Raisins, a banana, and a subway sub. (6 inch, no cheese)

The bran is good...full of fiber which should help keep you full longer!!
How many calories a day are you striving for?
sja1508
01-02-2008, 01:10 PM
I haven't tried WW but alot of people swear by it. I do know the lean cuisine meals are very tasty though. The only problem with any packaged diet meals is the sodium. :(
Lynn is doing awesome on her diet and has lost a huge amount of weight. Maybe she can share her tricks.

Well... google says that for my weight and height I should be taking in almost 2,000 calories but I really don't see how I can lose weight eating that many calories. So I am trying to aim for 1,500. I know that probably 500 to many for most people but I had beter take it baby steps or I will never make it. :)

Pam, Increase the amount of proteins you take, YOU NEED THEM, and keep with the all bran, that should help with the constipation problems!! veggies also help a lot
Bel, you have the cutest family.... if Uncle Jose is single, send him to Pam, ok???
Ali, I do have those days when I don't talk to Dh at all.... they say when THAT happens and both parties are comfortable about it, that means you are OK in your relationship

I plan on bringing mine. I was thinking, imagine us all going out to breakfast the next morning and asking for 7 high chairs  hehehe. Will we need to let the restaurant know ahead of time that we are going to have a large group?
Claudia - eww sorry you had to be part of that accident.
Pam - The thing that helped me "go" too was taking an EFA after every meal. I mean my bottle of EFAs says to take one capsule 3 times a day and I have to take them with food. So I take it right after I eat and man things are good!

I have a single stroller I can bring if anyone doesn't want to lug their's down. It's a Maclaren Triumph. Doesn't have a full recline, but it's great and lightweight.
We went to BG on New Years Eve and Ella is still too young to walk the entire park, so I'll need to rent a double for her and Ronin...OR....if anyone wants to share a double with Ella and their child, and I can use my single for Ronin...that would work too.

Pam~ try a protein with each carb. It slows down the sugars and keeps you from getting hungry faster.
You know, when I was on WW they had me on a 1600 calorie diet. It was perfect and I lost 20 lbs fast. Btw, I still swear by it, even though I suck at self control lately.
I was going to ask about that anyway. I seem to lack motivation for anything. Anyone else? I mean, I need to get healthy and lose 45 lbs before it gets worse. I need to clean, but I can't get up and going. Is it the holiday??
Ugh. Now, I see why today's the most depressing day of the year.

On Friday's after I get done with work Morgan and I have what we call "fun Friday" and we cook some thing together of do some thing special like a pic nic in the living room just some thing random and fun.
Any way this week I had planed on us making pizza. Thats not such a good idea with my diet but I thought if we did a veggie pizza with parmesean cheese on wheat it might not be to bad what do you think? Also we normally use the crust that you roll out of the can and then bake. Bad I know.... any one know if you can buy some thing like that in wheat? What do you guys plan to do after the park closes? Perhaps we can meet up after that??
I know my family doesn't have plans. Do you know of any place in the area we could all get together?
Maybe my house?? I'll have to check with dh first, but if he says YES, then we can meet over here for some late night fun?? No doobie dock though....not with the teens around.
Ack! I'll leave them at the hotel!

Ahhh!!! and here is a question for you all.....
I am bad at making bread by hand so i figure I would mess pizza dough up the same way.
I thought Pillsbury did wheat too. If not, I have some Watkins dough that you just add water to and let it rise. It comes in wheat thin crust.

LOL Sarah!!!
Pam, Dh makes a pizza dough from scratch, I am sure you can use wheat flour... check foodtv.com, he makes the one from Tyler Florence.
Fridays at your house sound like fun!!
BTW, you need to increase the amount of protein you are eating. Try fish or chicken or turkey, those are lean and will make you feel fuller. The GD Nutriologist told me for lunch and dinner your plate should be
1/2 vegetables, 1/4 good carbs, 1/4 protein. And that for breakfast you should have proteing (like a slice of bread with ham/turkey or an egg). I had that for breakfast today, and I am still full (amazingly enough)
Jenny, it does suck that you cannot go to BG.... we should arrange something afterwards, definetly :?
Lynn, sorry about the fight with DH... I know how hard it is to be on blended families... that is why I adopted the "not my kid, not my problem" attitude, because in the end, it is not my responsability to tell DH how to raise his son, right?? (( HUGS ))
Hey Amy & Tonya!!!
I have more than enough work to do, but no motivation... I dislike working here so much it is hard to find motivation... it is again like Middle School where everybody is too busy with the he said/she said crap, and I am stuck in the middle

I prefer the small meal schdeule every 3 hours or so. I stayed full and didn't worry about hunger. It just depends on what works for your body.

I think the 5 small meals is a good idea, so you don't get stuffed when it is time to eat and you are starving!
Remember to eat slowly and to wait 20 min after eating to see if you are actually hungry, before eating more. The other thing that works is eat your veggies first, and drink a glass of water before you start eating
You are inspiring me to do better with the diet thing, I should tell DH to take a hike and eat whatever he wants, I would eat healthy!
If I could only go back to having light dinners, that is what made me super fat :?

I think you answered your own question. If you overeat because you wait until you are hungry then don't do that. I think eating the 5 smaller meals even if you are not hungry keeps your motabolism burning, but it also depends on what you put in your body. Eating 5 small orders of McDs fries won't work... Eating 5 small portions of protien veggies fruits and carbs does.

I bake them for myself. If I want something a little more "unhealthy" I slice the potatoes lengthwise, sprinkle them with McCormick's Garlic & Herb and bake them. Right before they're done, I add a thin slice of cheese. I feel naughy, but it's somewhat low-cal.

Now days kids show up at the party and expect that they should get to go home with a goodie bag. You are not a bad Mom. I am a budgeted person as well. Even her first birthday wasn't a big party just immediate family but she doesn't go to a day care so she doesn't have lots of friends. I will only do family parties until she gets to a milestone birthday like maybe at 5 then 10 and after 10 I refused to have parties until their Sweet 16.

I hope I didn't offend any one with my post! I know some people like to have the big parties and thats great I just can't afford it this year. Her party not counting her gift cost me over 200 last year. I wish I could but I just can't.

My parentys always help me, and I always start buying here and there 3 or 2 months before, so then I dont get crazy and buy anything expensive  but family parties qre awesome, rfemember ceci´s las year? I did invite her friends but we just had hot dogs, ice cream and cake, I did make a candies table, but nothing too expensive, as march is still pretty hot here the only attraction was the pool BINGO! I spent I believe 150$. Ten santi´s party was a gift ($) from my dad YAY!

Good morning ladies,
Had a rough night with my little Miss Ella. I ended up sleeping with her in her bed (thank goodness for a twin bed) for a few hours and then she was up at 6am, but I was able to get her back down until 7:15am.
She's not napping during the day, and that's totally affecting her nighttime sleep. Thankfully I can function on 3 hours of sleep. Thankfully I am reading The No Cry Sleep Solution for Toddlers and feel good in knowing that 50% of all toddlers still wake up at least once a night and need a parent's help in falling back asleep. Gives me comfort to know that I am not alone.
We're leaving here at 9:10am, for a trip to our local bounce house!!
poor Ella and poor mama! :? hate non sleeping nights because they give me headache all day after...
what is a bounce house?

Morning ladies!!! it is Friday!!
Jenn, I am sorry Ella is having a hard time sleeping... Dani went throught that for couple of weeks, but she is back to sleeping and napping... I hope the phase goes by soon!!
All the lurkers are welcome in this place!! just jump in with a comment, it doesn't matter, everything and everyone is welcome here
Lynn, how is Katelyn doing?? no more fever??
YAY FOR A GOOD APPOINTMENT STACY & TARA!!!
DH made a very hurtful comment yesterday. I was telling him how proud I am that Dani is talking a storm, and he said "I hope she starts speaking more English, otherwise she is going to be in trouble at school... I hope you don't mind me, but your parents talking to her in Spanish is a BAD INFLUENCE on her"....... WTF??????? I want my kids to learn both languages because that is culture, and this idiot comes back and tells me my parents language is a bad influence??? I am so hurt I am holding the tears writing this down
My answer was "my cousin heard nothing but Spanish for the first 4 years of his life, and he had no problem learning English when he went to PreK, so I know Danielle would not have any problems either"
 I just want to run away!! :(
but your parents talking to her in Spanish is a BAD INFLUENCE on her".......

Katelyn is fine thanks. Fever is all gone. If I had waited one more day before taking her to the doctor we would have known this. Oh well, its only a $5.00 co-pay to know for sure. We took her in and her ears were all clear, but her throat was red with some white dots so he checked for strep. That was negative too. He said it was viral and that 4 -6 days of it and she would be fine but if she still had fever on Sat to let him know. She's A'ok...thanks for thinking of her.

I am to the point where I don't want to be with Dh anymore, I just want to be alone with the kids... he brings nothing to my life, I don't feel like I can talk to him about my problems (because he does a good job showing how much he doesn't care) and he kind of whatevers when I tell him things the kids do (and then gets upset when they do in front of him and I said "yeah I knew that" ... "oh why you didn't told me??"... "I did  "), he doesn't help, he doesn't make me feel loved, and it is all about HIM, what he wants and what he needs.

Day 2
Breakfast
Yogurt 180 Calories
1/4 cup of Bran
20 oz Water
Lunch
1 ½ cups fresh Green beans 85
½ cup black eyed peas 90 cal
Black coffee 0 cals
20 oz water
Snack
Small Granny Smith apple 80 Cals
Dinner
Salad (455 cals)
-Lettuce 15
-10 mini croutons 35
-1/4 cup Almonds 160
-3/4 cup of Cottage cheese 200
- spare 45 calories in case I miss measured something.
-20 oz of Water
Snack -15 mini fat free Pretzels 100 Cals
-2 tbs of Onion Dip 60 calories
Total for the day 1’150
I am disappointed at the number but also have to remind myself that as long as I keep it below 1,600 I am doing well and anything less than 1,200 is a bonus pat on the back. So where did I mess up? Well… I think I should have left of the ¼ cup of almonds on my salad. I was just looking for a way to add some protein but man it was full of calories and didn’t taste that great on a salad any way.
I am proud that I did my crunches and leg lifts yesterday and even added some sweating to the oldies to go with it. I need to get a good work out tape but until I can afford it this one at least gives me some cardo. All in all I think I had a good day I just need to watch how fast dinner calories can add up.

Shannon, apparently my DH became a MORON this year  . I would have not felt insulted if he hadn't used YOUR PARENTS and BAD INFLUENCE in the same sentence.... apparently he thinks Danielle would not understand or would be able to communicate in English because most of what she hears/speaks is Spanish... if he put a little attention to her, he would realize she understands both without any problems, and she is picking on both... but I guess the remote control helicopter is more interesting than your own kids......... .

Claudia, all I can say is
Sarah, you know we are all here to keep you occupied in Matt's absence
Pam, definitely don't go below 1200 and keep into account you get to add on calories for the workouts you are doing. Your body will definitely hold onto fat if it thinks you are starving yourself.
Just fyi with my own experience. Tara did Slim Fast for a long time and lost 40lbs, BUT....she had to have her gall bladder removed a year later. We researched it and using SF for long periods of time has shown to cause gall bladder issues. If you only need to use it for a few months though I think it's great. Long term I still think WW is the way to go.

That said, in my next life I want to live at Pam's house because she does all this cool things all the time, and I want to be a cool, awesome mom like Sarah, and throw parties like Bel's, and have the discipline to lose weight like Lynn, and be such a fun person and take my kids to all this places like Ashley, and be a relaxed & easy going mom like Tracy, and last but not least, be a confident woman and not worry about what people think about me like Stacy

Aaaw, that's such a sweet thing to say.
And I totally understand, Stacy. It's so nice to have such a wide variety of types of women that all seem to understand each other and respect each other's opinions.

Hey Ladies!
Home from the bouncing place. What fun we had!! Ella got so wore out. By 10:00am she kept saying "me tired, go home and nap please" and then she'd rub her belly doing the sign for please over and over and over. But I kept them out bouncing, then out for pizza lunch (I had a salad) and home by 12:30pm, and down for naps. I think I'm actually going to take a nap today myself. Just going to catch up on some school e-mails, and then Haley and I will snuggle up :)
Claudia....your dh is a piece of work. My cousin's 2 girls are tri-lingual and just brilliant. Speaking other languages did nothing to hurt their intellect at all.

Claudia and Stacy... sniff sniff thanks! I feel the same about you all! Claudia - you DH your house sounds like its full of fun too!
Ya know since I have started cutting back on the food I have to say at night when I get hungry and Morgan is starting to get sleepy so there for a bit cranky I just can't take it. Wanting to eat things I can't has given me a short fuse! I know I will get use to it but for now... poor poor Morgan.

Last night I was on edge because Her I was eating a salad with no dressing and after she had ate her veggies and dinner she got to have a kit kat her grandma sent her. Ugh! It was so hard not to eat some of it myself! When it was time to wash her hands I wanted to lick them clean!

Aww poor Morgan. You can have a low-cal, low-fat dressing by using Vinegar and equal or splenda. It makes it a sweet and sour dressing.
