Jess, I hope that was implantation bleeding.

Welcome, newbies!!!

I am crampy today, but it is likely from the Prometrium. It has that effect on me. And my boobs are SORE but again, normal for me in the 2ww.

Hi Ladies! I wanted to join in on this thread, I hope you don't mind. I just had my 2nd IUI last Saturday (5/31). Last month we did the IUI without any medications, and this month I took Femera CD3-7. I am hoping this does the trick. We did get pregnant without any assistance back in February, but I had MC in week 5.

I m not sure how I feel about if this time worked or not. It's funny because I never had PMS symptoms my entire life..I just always started like clockwork, and didn't get cramps until the actual AF started. Now since I am looking for them, the symptoms seem to be there very early, and of course, I always think they are pregnancy symptoms, not PMS. Last month AF played a cruel trick on me. I was about to leave for vacation, and POAS 2 days before AF was due. I had what I thought was a very faint 2nd line, so I took 2 more tests with me. I test again the next 2 mornings and there was no trace of a 2nd line at all. Then AF came 1 day late. I have never been late by even 1 day before in my life. So this month I am promising myself not to test until the day it's due!

I only have 1 more IUI that will be covered under my insurance, and DH doesn't think we should have to go through the IUI's anyway, because we were ableto get PG in February without anything. The reason we pursued IUI is because I turn 40 in December, and we have been trying for almost a year. It took 8 months to get PG the first time, and I just didn't want to wait another 8 for it to happen again. Of course at the rate we are going, it could very well be that long. My goal was to have a baby before I turned 40, but not I just hope I can get PG by then. If I don't, I will probably just stop trying so hard, and look into adoption.

Best of luck to all of you, we all deserve to have this work for us!

Hiye ladies!

I have been TTC for 9 months already. Just got DH's SA and his diagnosed with severe oligospermia (4 million sperm count with 38 mobility). We both know the cause (which is smoking) so I did'nt want to waste anymore time waiting for a miracle (that is for him to quit smoking). We want to go ahead with IVF as soon as possible. I'm CD3 today. Do you think I'm moving too fast? It's just after 9 months of TTC, I'm tired of waiting....the disappointment (BFN after BFN).... I just want to do something so I know I'm on my way to my BFP! I'm new to IVF (just read some information on the net) so please pardon me if I'm clueless about the medications and terms.

Hi, and welcome!

I had a similar thing happen with the second line. I think I picked up a chemical pregnancy. :( I also had AF a day or two late, and I am never late...just early on occasion.

How is everyone today?

Ok ladies so my IUI did not give me a bfp. I also found out yesterday that I have a 19mm cyst on the right. Yesterday (CD 2) I started a 21 day cycle of birth control to shrink and hopefully get rid of the cyst. Then after I get af from that I will start my stims. If I have 4-6 eggs from the stims I will do IUI. If there are more than 6 eggs then I will most likely be moving my cycle to an IVF because I don't want to waste the cycle after paying for the meds. It seems so funny because we are doing IUI just so that I can have my sex life back and take away the whole timed intercourse lifestyle. So I won't be doing anything this cycle.

Thanks ladies...
This cycle has been pretty bad so far...not good when I'm only on CD4! I'm still cramping pretty bad which is unusual for me but hopefully it will be done soon. Just so you're in the loop...dh and I are on our last cycle of actively TTC if we don't get a BFP this cycle then its on to adoption which is good. We're not going to prevent a pg but we're also not doing any meds, iui's, etc. I feel good about our decision and I don't feel that it's too soon to be looking at his option. (dh's dad called yesterday dh's mom and dad feel we're being IMPATIENT) Anyways...thank you for all of your support. I'll check in when I can...even if I'm not on here much I'll still be praying for your BFP's!!!

Luv ya!

Hello everyone, I am new to this and I hope you dont mind. I am due to have my 1st IUI cycle with my new RE sometime this month. He is doing a ministim cycle so I took Clomid for 5 days and Gonal-f for 2 days. I am on CD11 today and had my first ultrasound. He anticipated 3-4 follies. Well, I have about 12 follies. He said that they are not all mature and that the biggest of the follies measure 13-14. He also said that there may be a chance that we will scrap this cycle. He wants to do another ultrasound on Thursday to see where I am. He told me that my husband and I can have relations leading up to the next ultrasound. Has anyone else gone through anything like this???? Has anyone had IUI with more than 1 folly? Anyone with success stories after having taken clomid and gonal-f and did IUI??

I know it's only four more days. But I still won't know anything until they call me. My appt is at 6:30. They don't usually call with blood test results until the afternoon. Even more torture.....:pokey:

I am on my 4th round of clomid (150mg) and I am confused about something. My progesterone levels the first 3 months were 8, 44, and 7. My nurse made it seem like it was unusual for them to be so different!! anyone else have this, or know what it means? Thanks in advance for your help!!!

DZ- You're so close! Torture is right...tick tock tick tock - I pray it goes quickly for you!

Well, girls. I had an appt. w/my RE today. He said the good news was I got pregnant. Now we just have to hold onto it.
DH and I were pleasantly surprised that we'll be cycling again fairly quickly. Basically, we have to wait for my HCG to get down to zero and for me to get AF. I thought I had AF already, but the RE seemed to think that it was implantation bleeding. I thought that was WAY heavy to be implantation. Hmmm.
Anyway, I will go on BCP and start cycling again as soon as AF arrives. The RE's going to change my protocol a bit (I think like yours, Lee Ann, no Lupron) so I hope that's the ticket.
Mal, what's your timing? I might be right behind you!

As far as I know....and I'm hoping other people will respond as well....REs like follies to be around 20mm+ before they will trigger or do an IUI. That is how my RE is anyway. So, I'm sure they want your follies to mature. I also know that lots of women do IUIs with more than one follie. That is how I would prefer to do an IUI...because in my opinion, more follies = more chances to get pregnant! :) I hope this helps a little!

Each time I've done an IUI (I've done two) my Dr. schedules an ultrasound right before to check my follicles and if I have more than two they won't do the IUI. Basically, they say that if by some crazy chance, you have two or three or even four viable eggs that ALL happen to get fertilized and then the ALL or even some of them split into twins or more, you could be pregnant with a risky pregnancy and face numerous complications.

I see their point, but it's really hard sometimes when they tell you that your chances of getting pregnant are TOO GOOD so they don't want to risk it! You just have to trust your Dr. or else you'll drive yourself crazy. That's why it's so important to go to a Dr. or RE that you feel super comfortable with because it's really easy to get bitter when you walk away from appt. sometimes.

I had my first IUI in March unmedicated, using frozen donor sperm.
Had a 'slight increased' OPK, but not positive in April, thought I had just missed the cycle.
Had another 'slight increase' in May and decided it was not a miss this time.
Had an U/S and trigger shot and IUI on June 9th, and now am looking around and chatting with peeps and trying to keep my mind off the 2ww.

Hey You, I know, it's crazy, right!? My neighbor and good friend who also was STC for a while and goes to the same Dr. as I do had that happen to her and she had 3 viable follicles on cycle. Not only would they not do the IUI, but they told her not to even have sex that cycle! They totally put the fear of God into her that she was going to have triplets or something! She was on meds that cycle so needless to say, they adjusted them the next time around and she was fine. She actually got pregnant on her second IUI. :bellyrubs:

Okay, I guess I should join in here!! :)

I had my first IUI in April with the amazing sperm count of 900 thousand (insert sarcasm here, but hey, it only takes ONE). Needless to say, it was a bust, and the dr was pretty much like, there is almost no chance, but we are doing it anyway cause miracles do happen. But not for us that month!

May IUI- sperm count was amazing, 15 mil, Dr was in SHOCK when he read the results, and DH thought he was a god!!), but again, bust.

Had to skip our next IUI because DH was on the other side of the country for the ONE convention his company has ALL year, which totally sucked, but we made it through!!

Now, have to call dr today to let them now AF has arrived, and so we should be scheduling for either Wednesday or Thursday (6/25 or 6/26) for u/s, and IUI either Thursday or Friday (6/26 or 6/27).

DH and I are really, really excited about this cycle, and even happier because AF arrived when I wanted it to for once (if it arrived Saturday, I would have had to skip a second IUI cycle cause we will be out of town the last weekend when it would have been scheduled!!!). So, good luck to all those currently waiting to test, and good luck to those waiting for O's to have IUI!!
YaY for IUI's!!!

Amandagirl:
I am so sorry you did not get your bfp. I will be praying for you and i hope your surgery goes well without any complications. I am glad you are doing it for yourself too.

ok here is my typical ranting:
my 19 year old sis in law is pregnant AGAIN! My neice is a year and a half, what the hell were they thinking? ANd she has PCOS, yet i have pcos, some of yall have pcos, and that heffer is pregnant? and shes 3 months and i am just now finding out. Because they didnt know how to tell me without hurting my feelings, well **** me i am too crazy to deal with it or something. whatever. just whatever.

Ok so here is some better news:
my progesterone was 74!!!:hooray:
and i asked my doc to check my thyroid and blood sugar and they were normal too. That is awesome.
and i am 3 days late. but i am not excited yet because POAS was BFN twice so i dont want to get all hyped up and then let down, again, i cant do it again.

Do yall just want this to all be over? not contemplating suicide or anything, but it would be so much easier if someone said, yes you can get pregnant but it will take a while, or no you cant get pregnant at all. Think of all the trouble it would save. I dont know about you but taking BBT is a pain in the you know where. Or the Clomid or making your man BD every other day at least. but thats a long story for another day. I think ill write a book when this is all over one way or another.

girls i want the best for each and every one of you!

I just had my first IUI on Monday. I was on femara from CD 3-7, then did an hCG trigger on Sunday night (18 hours before my IUI). The nurse was excited at the timing (I had a 17 mm follie on my right ovary on Saturday).

I am currently driving myself NUTs in the 2 ww, but was wondering if anyone ever had s/e from the hCG? I have been crampy and sick to my stomach for the last two days...but it is only 4 DPO. Any suggestions?

Tarabithia
06-13-2008, 07:39 PM
ohh!!! welcome and good luck!!!

The bad thing with the hcg is that it can give you all the symptoms of being pg, and be careful with testing too early because it can take as long as 10 days for the trigger to leave your system, which can give you a false positive. I know there are a bunch of ladies that "test out" their trigger, by taking hpt's every day until it stops showing +, thus allowing for a more accurate reading when you start testing for real.

So, unfortunately, the hcg can play with your mind and your body, so the best thing to do is wait 12 to 14 days to test, and  for that :bfp:!!! I know that is not really comforting, but don't worry, we have all been there, and will help you through as best we can!!

I had the HCG shot and no symptoms. Today at 9 DPIUI it is out of my system, too.

KC
06-14-2008, 05:57 AM
Thanks gals! So I think I will test 9-10 DPIUI and see if it is negative and then wait until 13-14 to test for real. On 14 DPIUI, I have to go in for a beta-hCG, but I don't think I will be able to wait for the RE to call with the results!

Sorry girls I have been MIA for a while but with work and stims and monitoring I hardly have time to breathe lately.

I had my first u/s last Sunday and we had 5 follicles on my Left and 1 on my right so RE upped my FSH dose to the MAX

Well...second U/S on Thurdsay we had 7 on my right and 6 on the left so we are progressing. Next U/S is on Monday and possible retrieval on Tue or Wed...It is coming up fast!!

I was wondering if anyone else has had side effects from the stims. Ever since I have upped my dose to 5 Bravelle and 2 Menopur plus my Ganerlix (ovulation inhibitor shot) I have felt quite ill. Nauseous and now Diarrhea (TMI...sorry). My appetite sucks too...has anyone else had a similar experience?

I am supposed to have a beta on the 17h, but I am going in on the 16th, I think. Mainly because if it is negative, I want to go off the progesterone and get this show on the road for the injectibles cycle.

I am so sick to my stomach I haven't wanted to eat and it is bad at the other end. The nurse asked this morning if it was bearable and I said yeah~what else am I supposed to say! LOL

So I had another U/S and labs this AM. Nurse just called and my E2 went from 134 to 455!!! Yeah! I only had 6 follies on the left and 3 on the right and they were small but the RE is OK with that and I go back on Monday!

Hi Ladies...

Just thought i would drop in and say hi!! Also... I finally scanned in my embryo pictures and thought some of you might be interested. It gives a good idea on how my R.E. was grading the embryos.

If anyone else has some... I would really be interested in seeing them... I would like to know how other clinics grade, etc... I'm thinking about the next time we have to do this, and it's been hard finding multiple photos online. Anyway... If anyone has some to share I would greatly appreciate it.

It will get better. After the transfer it will take about a week or so for the swelling and everything to subside. hang in there!! :)

Girls, if no one minds, I am going to make a sticky for BFP successes for IUI and IVF cycles. I know that when I was contemplating IUI, I really wanted to see/read successes. So, if you get/have already gotten your BFP, please post and let us know what your meds were, how many attempts you had before your BFP, and anything else you think is pertinent. I'm thinking--how many hours after trigger you had your IUI, whether you had a 3 or 5 day transfer, (if you know your E2 numbers and FSH, that would be helpful also) etc.

Inspire us!!!

Mine was an IVF cycle which was canceled since I only had one follicle so technically it ended up being Ovulation Induction with injectable meds. I'm still glad it was scheduled to be an IVF otherwise I don't think they would have treated me as aggressively as they did when the goal was as many eggs as possible.

Reason for IVF: low ovarian reserve
FSH during cycle: 22! :shocker:
Number of antralfollicles on CD3: 3
Projected chance for live birth: less than 1%
My age: 37
I was on BCP for 40 days to make sure my cycle was in tune with the projected IVF date of "week of June 3rd". DH and I were also both put on a strong antibiotics at the beginning of stim.
Planned protocol: 7 vials of repronex IM in the morning, 525 IU of Gonal-F in the evening. I did however have a cyst so they cut it down to 1 vial of repronex and 450 Gonal-F. Later they upped the repronex to first 2 and then 3 vials.
I stimmed for 16 days due to poor response. My "best" follicle moved out of the ovary and disintegrated. I had to take ovidrel (I think) for 3 days to suppress spontaneous ovulation before my 2nd follicle to get close to 20 mm. At 19 mm they canceled the IVF but I still took the HCG trigger at 6 PM on Thursday night (June 7th) and was told to do BD Thu, Fri, and Sat night with no lube not even saliva and to lay down for at least 15 min after ejaculation. Oh, how romantic! :eyeroll: O was estimated to happen 36-40 hours later so Sat June 9th.

I started PIO shots on June 10th. My first beta was Fri June 22nd at 13 DPO 15 days past trigger. I never asked to get the beta numbers but it was positive! :D I did not take any HPTs (before the beta that is. I took several AFTER it and saved them all :winks:).

We also did no alcohol or caffeine for 3 mo prior to the cycle and both DH and I loaded up on extra vitamins. I also stopped working out once I took the trigger shot and didn't go back until I was about 10 weeks PG and then only lightly.

I hate to do that but I have to do what is going to work for me. So today DH was giving me my injects and I just started crying. They hurt really bad today for some reason. Probably because I am just really sensitive right now. I know it will all be worth it! I have another U/S and labs tomorrow AM.

Best of luck tomorrow DZ! Keep us updated!

I was going to edit, but it will not let me:

# of cycles trying: Success on the first one!
DHs S/A was "excellent" we don't have the exact numbers
My FSH for the two months prior to IVF were 11 and 14, so it changed quickly
My E2 levels during the medicated cycle were very low for IVF and never reached over 400.

ICURN - I hope that you're feeling better today. It got kinda of ruff for me towards the end before the retrieval. I don't understand why you can't get FMLA on your job. I thought that was a automatic benefit. I think that you should check again.

...We had our 3rd U/S today and had more follies. We had 11 on the right that are about 8mm and 7 on the left around 6-7mm...so 17 in total. That's a huge climb from 6 the first u/s. He says the retrival will be on Saturday, so now we have more of a plan and a more pinponted timeline.

Oh yeah I forgot about that :winks:

I did mine in the abdomen, it didn't hurt as much, but its probably because I have a lot of belly fat to pinch :winks:. You look like you have a flat belly. No belly fat. Have you tried icing it before the injection?

LOL...I have plenty of fat to grab and I have been doing them in my belly too...I was wondering if I could put them in my hip, I have a nice fat pad there...much more than my abdomen.

Have any of you had to give yourself your own IM injections. DH is not too up to it and I would do it myself but fear the whole "pull back" the plunger thing.

Lee Ann, at least if you are miserable you got all of those follies as a result. :shocker: Great jump!! Wow, Saturday will be here so quick!!!

As for me, I woke up sick as a dog, which didn't make the first shot so fun, but...I did it! I think everything that's happened since is just a result of being sick, but for those who took lupron, couple of questions just to make sure:

1. Insta bloat? Like, leave the shirt untucked and don't even think of anything but the fat pants bloat?

2. Insta overheat? Too hot and a bit damp?

3. Any injection site reaction? I got what looks like a mosquito bite, a little bit of bruising and a little...irritation, I guess. As in, if the fat pants rub up against it, it's....irritated. Totally not a big deal, just wondering what I should expect over the coming days.

Thanks, ladies.

Yeah, Mal! Congrats on that first shot! That one was for sure the hardest for me.

As for Lupron...

I didn't really have any reaction. Mine came later w/the stims (and the subsequent need for fatpants). The Repronex, in particular, gave me momma welts, which I have heard it's known for, but I do remember a little red, itchiness w/the Lupron.
Hot flashes? Didn't have 'em but I heard that's pretty typical. You are in "menopaus" afterall!

Icurn congratulation on the cycle going well so far.

Malf - I swear by my accupunture that my bloat and side effect were less this time. But I forgot I was on Repronex on my 1st cycle and Menopur on my second. I don't know if that had anything to do with it.
Now that I think about it, I had mosquito bites with the Repronex but didn't have any marks with the Menopur. I did have one friend that got welts from one of her shots.

Well in comparison to your journey Lisa, mine seems to pale. I was TTC for 2 1/2 years. I was diagnosed with PCOS and have Lupus. I was not ovulating so I took clomid for 5 months with two IUI treatments. The second IUI was successful and we are expecting twins in November. We also had male infertility to work around so DH had to take about 6 vitamins per day plus follow strict rules. I have been taking Metformin since we began the process with our fertility specialist and am still taking it during pregnancy.

All in all, all the stress, tears and monthly heartache were definately worth it but so hard to get through. I felt pregnant every month and was let down every month so I do know the dissappointment & heartache!!

I should have bought shares in Clearblue Easy for as much as I spent on tests every month!!

Good luck ladies and if you have any questions, let me know!!

I wish I had joined APA while I was TTC, but I was too scared to share my feelings with anyone. You ladies are amazing support to each other!!

what a great idea!
me-33, dh 35.
we'd been trying for over two years.
4 very early m/c's..as in the day or so after my missed period.
2 failed iui's
1 failed ivf-we didn't even get to retrieval-i only made 3 eggs. and they were very small. an AWFUL response at IVF.
after that we gave up! so, we were adopting and planning on a donor IVF cycle. (docs thought my eggs were crap.: )
fsummer 2007 started taking lots of folic acid for MTHFR.
oct-diagnosed with major depression (though, i had known in my gut for along time) i started taking a light SSRI. started to feel better than i had in my whole life. though, it was the christmas season, so i was still pretty sad to be childless.
oct-dec-i started drinking a glass of wine a day and i even smoked (i know!!) a little bit.

how it happened; how we won the greatest lotterydec>
we had sex ONE TIME about five days before i o'ed. no preseed (we used ky) i pee'd right after. though, to this day, i remember what fun we had. seriously, i think because we weren't trying, it was soooo good.
i tested on my birthday and got a faint line. i am teary just writting this.
-RE says i have bad eggs, DH has low morph (less than 1%) and we had sex one time, well before o'ed.

what i think did the trick-
who knows? i think going on a light SSRI that wouldn't have gone into effect until dec. the month i got pregnant helped. there is a significant link btwn depressiona dn infertility. also finding out that i had MTHFR and needed the extra folic acid.

LET MY BODY'S TRIUMPH OVER EXPERIENCE BE YOUR HOPE.

It is suposed to make your CM or cervical mucas thin so that the sperm can get where it needs to be.

I love seeing everyone's stories!

Me:37 DH:37
First positive pee stick - ended up an ectopic. I had two methotrexate shots to resolve it. Was told it was a fluke, it happens a lot in first time pregnancies..should have no further trouble conceiving.
Second positive pee stick - yup, ectopic. This time, the embryo had shot out my tube the wrong way...into space you might say...and ended up attaching to the OUTSIDE of my uterus and began to grow (doc had never seen that before - sweet, I am a freak)...filling my belly with blood. Severe pain, vomiting, emergency surgery to remove "it" - I hated how they called my baby "it". Doc also did a bit of exploration, could find no obvious reason for ectopics. Said I might have small holes in my fallopian tubes that trap eggs.
I have never gone through such heartache, sobbing multiple times a day over my losses and in constant fear I would never have a baby. The second loss hit me much harder, as I was farther along and the embryo had really begun to form, but in the wrong spot. I was just so devastated.
I wasnt sure if we could afford adoption, but we began to explore that option. Dr. said I could just keep trying because he couldnt find any reason for the ectopics...but I was too scared to go through such a trauma again...so we went to see the RE. He suggested IVF would be the way to go to skip my tubes altogether. The DH and I agreed, mostly because my excellent insurance covered it all...I know how lucky I am for that.

First round of IVF - success!! IVF was intense, and I was sure it wouldn't work, so I was very negative and cried a lot. I did get acupuncture through the whole process, but it did nothing to relax me. I tell you this, because I know ladies worry during the process that they aren't totally zen...thinking their emotions will somehow hurt their chances of IVF working...but NO ONE was more crabby then me, and it still worked!

Amazingly - we got 34 eggs, 20 matured...we put back ONE blastocyst and froze 19!!
Got my BFP in May 2007 and here I sit with my beautiful sweet son Nathan.
Never give up..never...

Kate, your story is amazing to me, because I have had one ectopic and am incredibly afraid of having another one. I was wondering IF i did have another one....if they would go to IVF....and I think they will. My left tube is already completely blocked. Thank you so much for your story!

I was 31 and DH 32 when started TTC. I had been pregnant twice before- one full term baby I placed for adoption at age 18 and one abortion a few years later. I didn't think I'd have any trouble getting pregnant.

We tried for a year and nothing. I saw an RE and immediately had a HSG which diagosed that my tubes were blocked. He thought both tubes were also filled with fluid (hydrosalpinx) which lowers the chance of IVF working. Later by ultrasound they determined that only one tube had fluid. They recommended I have surgery to remove that tube. I didn't want surgery so we went forward w/ IVF with the tube in. (meds: Long lupron suppression, gonal F 150 twice daily) I had an OK response and got 9 eggs, 4 mature, 3 fertilized (this RE wasn't the greatest, I later switched). Due to my tube issues he wanted to put all 3 back, we relunctantly agreed and had a 3 day transfer which resulted in a BFN. At this point I changed to a much better RE at a better clinic.

I knew I had to get that tube out. I convinced my OB to do the surgery a few weeks after my failed cycle, on Dec 12, 2007. My left tube was removed, my right tube, although blocked, appeared healthy so she left it in. No complications.

I was able to enroll in a study at my new clinic. I got the entire IVF cycle for free (thank you God). The study med was a long acting Gonal F. So I got one injection subq which lasted 5 days, then I started the regular Gonal F injections. Retrieval was on Jan 19. 2008. I had a great response this time -16 eggs, 11 mature, 6 made it to blast. We transferred 2 and 3 others made it to freeze. It worked!

Me-33, DH-43
Infertility due to low sperm count, low morphology and high % of abnormal sperm.
We TTC'd for over 2 years.

We tried naturally for one year and then I went to an RE and had all sorts of testing done and my DH had an SA done. That is when we found out the problem. It was devastating to us because DH has a 12 year old from a previous marriage and he had no problem conceiving her. Secondary infertility for him, it was very upsetting. The only problem I had was irregular ovulation which clomid fixed for me.

We went to another RE and they told us IVF or IUI w/donor sperm. We couldn't afford IVF so we decided to do IUI w/donor sperm. We were two weeks away from the IUI and my DH's insurance changed and we found out that it covered IVF up to $15,000. So we decided to do IVF!

I started on Lupron injections and then they added Menopur and Follistim shots. The Lupron was 10 units to begin with and the Menopur was 75 and the Follistim was 225. WE did the Ovidrel trigger shot on Friday 3/28/08 at 9:30 pm and had our retrieval at 9:30 am on Sunday 3/30/08. They retrieved 13 eggs and out of those, 9 were mature enough to use for ICSI. Out of the 9, 6 fertilized. We transferred back 3 8 cell embroys (day 3 transfer) and froze the remaining 3, which were two 7 cell and one 6 cell embroys.

We got our BFP on 4/14/08. We were due for our first ultrasound on 4/30 and on the day before I had major bleeding/cramping. I thought that any babies in there were gone. Well, the doctor said to wait and come in on 4/30 as planned. We did and saw our baby's heartbeat! So one baby, I thought that we had lost one, but they examined tissue/blood that I had passed and there was nothing in it. I had a huge spot in my uterus where the blood was and they couldn't explain why it happened. I was put on bed rest for a week and then went back and the blood area was shrinking. My RE then released me to my OB Gyn. A week later, another u/s at OB's office and they said the blood was clotting and shrinking and that was a good sign. I had another bleeding episode (not as bad as the first) a couple of weeks ago. We went to the ER and everything ended up being ok again. They said I will spot on and off until the blood is gone or if my body absorbs it.

It's been a roller coaster ride. And I will be 14 weeks tomorrow. I'm still very nervous about the blood that is still in there but am trying to enjoy my pregnancy.

I lurked in the STC/Med Assistance boards for a long time and was inspired by everyone that graduated. It was the toughest struggle I have ever gone through, but wouldn't change it for anything. It has changed me for the better!

Good luck ladies!! I agree with kateypie35, never give up....never!! God has a plan for all of us!!

kateypie35 - Thank you for sharing your story. I've had one m/c and one ectopic. In fact, I'm currently waiting for my beta #s to come down after methotrexate injections a couple of weeks ago. I'm worried about going through this again for emotional reasons and b/c I'll be 42 in August and don't have time to keep sitting out for 3 months. I was wondering whether IVF might be a better option with a history of ectopic pregnancies. Guess we'll have to wait and see what my RE says when we see him, but your story gave me hope that there is still a way for me to become a mom.

My struggle doesn't feel like much after reading those but I will share anyways if no one minds.

I have never talked much about it but I've had two losses. One of which was the reason I joined APA (for support) at 5 weeks 5 days back in May of 2007. The other one that I don't talk much about was at 11 weeks back in 2002 (I was 17). The one when I was 17 went unexplained, baby was fine then one day I had some bad cramps and pain, thought I could time them but was just imagining it so I ignored it. I went to the doc the next day and was dilated and ended up losing the baby. This was not dh's baby. The second m/c was mine and dh's first pregnancy after trying for almost 2 years. Up until then we had no idea anything was wrong except that I didn't have normal, regular periods. Since dh was in the Army we hadn't put much effort into resolving it but when the m/c happened he had just been released and so we went to the OB to see what was wrong. I was diagnosed with a thyroid disorder (I don't recall over or under active) and PCOS. This was May of 07 and between then and Feb of 08 I lost almost 35 pounds to help combat the PCOS. I was also put on Metformin and Clomid. I had 2 annovulatory cycles, both lasting 2-3 months each. One was at 50mg, one at 100mg. I was referred to a RE and he decided one more cycle of Clomid before moving on to something stronger. At the same time dh and I decided that if that cycle didn't work then we were taking a 2-3 year break so I could go to medical school and we could take some time off. The RE put me on 8 days of Clomid at 100mg and a trigger shot. I went in for a total of 3 folly u/s's because the first 2 showed that the follies were still too small. On my third one I had 4 follies, 2 around 17, 1 at 16, 1 at 15. We were told to trigger 24 hours later to give them a little longer to grow. We bd'ed that night, the next morning, the evening of the trigger, morning after the trigger, evening after the trigger and morning after that :) At 11DPO I got a faint positive. I went in for a beta and it was around 45 I think. My progesterone was high and upon going back 3 days later my numbers had more then doubled. We did an u/s at 6 weeks 4 days and found out we were having twins! I had some spotting around the 9 and a half week mark and went in to find out that I had a subchorionic hemmoraghe around both babies. The sac of blood was pretty large and they told me we were more then likely going to lose the babies. I passes tons of tissue, blood and clots, even went in for an u/s where they were unable to find heartbeats (where we had always been able to before). We thought we lost them. We scheduled a D & C for the following Tuesday (the u/s w/no heartbeats was a friday). I went in on Tuesday to be informed that I was mistaken on my day that it was for that coming friday, I knew I hadn't heard her wrong but said ok. I had to have another u/s to measure my uterus for the procedure on Wednesday (at least 48 hours before the surgery) and the u/s tech was (I thought) rude. She kept asking if we had really wanted the pregnancy and why were we having a D&C and then she turned the monitor and you could see both heartbeats fluttering and the babies moving! They are both now big, healthy boys measuring a week ahead and the pregnancy has been boring thus far.

I include the last part for those who sadly have been through m/c and loss, I know its hard to not worry and stress but sometimes even with bad signs good things still happen. I truly thought I lost them but have had my miracle, I still continue to stalk and pray for each and every one of you. Don't give up hope, as cliche as it is, miracles do happen.

...it seems like this cycle is going on FOREVER. I had another U/S today (CD 15) and I had 17 follies on my right that were about 11mm and 8 on my left...most 10mm but one 14mm. RE wants me to have more day of stims. I have an u/s check tmw, and then on to HCG. He thinks the retrieval will be either Sat or Sun.

To all of the gals who had to do IM's on their own...I need a pep talk about the IM injections...the needle is HUGE and how in the Hell am I goiing to give it in my hip by myself??? Any suggestions would be appreciated

Are you talking about the HCG shot (novarel)? If so we only had to use the large needle to draw the fluid into the syringe and then change it to a smaller needle for a subcutaneous injection in the stomach or thigh. It was much less painful.

Hi girls! Glad to read all's going well in IVF land!
DZ, congrats on the great numbers! :hooray:

Mal, I started AF exactly 3 days post BCP. It was light, but there she was! I hope she come quickly for you so you can get the party in your ovaries started!

LA, I certainly hope your trigger will be subcutaneous. I used the Ovidril and I also remember the box saying something about IM on it, but my RE instructed it to be subcu -- fortunately. That would be great. Let us know. But, EITHER way, you'll get through it great! :hugs:

ICURN, glad to hear you're progressing so well! what's your schedule now? Must be close!

ShasD, Not sure when I'll be cycling again. That all depends on my body, I guess. Once I get AF I'll start on BCP. I'm not doing the long Lupron cycle this time, so I'll go right into stims after BCP, so that's good. I am guessing I won't have AF for a few weeks, though. I guess it's good for my body to have this month off...gotta see the good in it, right?
How're you feeling? have you been tempted to POAS???

Good luck girlies!

Livliv - Sorry I can't help. I am older and have other issues. My dr has me on Clomid and I did get pg last November but m/c. Things were going great after that until this last cycle which did not start after a Day 21 Progesterone test result of 0.2!!! Took Prometrium to get it started and it did. Did Clomid CD 5-9 and I am pretty sure I o'ed on CD 12. The line was pretty dark. I go back for a Day21 Progesterone on 6/27. I have had FsH tests resulting in 19.5, 8, 12, 15. Better if under 10 for ovulation. What tests have you done? Have you done any of these? I don't know if any of this helps but it may give you an idea of different tests. Keep us posted!!

paula0471

Livliv, On your first month of clomid your doctor should do a MLP test (Mid Luteal progesterone test) 7 dpo, Some doctors do this around CD 21 unless you are known to O late. This will determine weather you Oed or not and how strong of an O you had. Progesterone should be 15 or more on a medicated cycle and over 10 on an unmedicated cycle.

On your next medicated cycle I would ask your doctor to do the test that way you know weather the clomid needs to be upped or not.

Are you charting? You may want to chart along side the OPK's. I can help you with any of this if you need help. PM me anytime.

I have seen and known many women who have graduated on Clomid. I wasn't one of the lucky one's, I've done 20 cycles of clomid. Anyways I've done a lot of research and even though I'm not on Clomid anymore.. would be glad to help any of the girls here.

Good Luck to you all.

Hello hello hello ladies!
Just thought I would give you anupdate...sorry it's so long: This cycle I have had a totally different attitude going into my IUI. I was pretty sure that I wanted it to be my last one but prayed that God would make it very clear and asked for some sort of sign. I went in for cd12 u/s on Tuesday and they found one good size follie, I triggered that night at 7pm. By 8pm I had terrible cramping, sweats, nausea, and the shakes, by 8:30pm they were getting worse so I took Extra Strength Tylenol, at 9:30 they were still really bad and dh and I were getting a little worried. We called the ER in my little town and they said I should be checked to make sure everything is ok. Went in and they decided it was all side effects and gave me a med to make me sleep through some of it. They said to go to Bismarck to the ER if it continued or got worse. The next morning I was ok...just really groggy. Thursday I went in for my IUI and had the run to the bathroom kind of flu all morning! By the time I had to go in for my IUI I was still feeling pretty crummy but figured I've come this far I'll just get through it. Since I was two days late last cycle I ended up with a different doc than the one I've been working with. (he comes to my town once a month but they don't have the capacity to do IUI at our hosp.) Anyways the lady was amazing! She asked if we were going to be looking at doing IVF if this didn't work and I explained that this was out last IUI (after all the crap I'd gone through this week I took it as a big sign that we should be done!) and that we would be moving on to adoption if it didn't work. She got this big smile on her face and then said "well as a practicioner we tend to push our patients and try to fix everything for them...however...you see that picture there...that is my 22year old adopted son!" She went on to tell me all about her story and sat in the room with me for an extra 10minutes while I had to wait. I didn't even know the IUI was done because I was so in awe of the whole situation! God works in mysterious ways! When she left she said that even though I wasn't one of her regular patients she tends to get attached to some and that she wants me to come in a give her a thumbs up if it works and if not to bring in our adopted baby to celebrate! I figure whether or not we're pregnant this month we're ending on the best possible note!

Hope all is well for you! Sorry so long!!!

Ladies, thank you so much for sharing the success stories. It is hard to read the bad events prior to the BFP, but we all know that it must rain before the rainbow. I am in the mist of rain and it is refreshing to read about the possible rainbow. I mostly like the comment...................NEVER GIVE UP!! I intend to quit when I am holding my baby.

Thanks in advance!!

Thank you so much for sharing your stories. They mean so much to me to be able to read. I know I have personally never had a m/c (though my heart goes out to each and every one of you), but I am going in for IUI #3 this week, and reading all these posts have given me so much hope :)

God bless each and every one of you, and your dear sweet babies!!

Jess- That is a great story! I'm glad things are looking up for you! Good Luck!

Cariann- I would start OPKs tomorrow. Most people ovulate within 5 days of taking their last Clomid pill. Will you be doing an IUI without an u/s? Just OPKs? Hmm. I guess it is possible that you will get enough information with OPKs, but I'd rather have an u/s. Also, I hope this cycle works for you, but if it doesn't, I would ask about a trigger shot next time. Actually, its not too late to do one this month. If you order from Freedom Pharmacy, they overnight them. You may want to call your doctor and ask about this option. KATRINA says that she wouldn't do an IUI without a trigger shot again. Good Luck!

That is a fantastic story, Jess! I am glad you feel comfortable with whatever direction your life takes. Praying that this is your month :) Positive thoughts :)

I usually start my CBEFM on day 9, and I am usually at "high" by then. I have my u/s on day 13 (when they waited for day 14 the first time, follies were getting too big), trigger, then do IUI the following day. I get my trigger shot from Schrafts (?!?) Pharmacy, and they will over night mine as well, though I usually call it in as soon as I schedule my u/s. We have to send the meds to Dh's office since they have to be signed for, and I don't want them coming to my school.

Good luck to all!! :)

So, I go in for my beta tomorrow am. Last week they called with my progesterone results by 2 pm, so I am hoping they are just as quick this time. I am trying to stay positive...but I have had cramps for a few days now, no real signs that are any different than a couple of days before AF AND I have POAS twice now and both were BFN!

Paula and Sassycagirl68,

Thank you ladies so much for your help! I am currently working with my OBGYN and he will not do any of the tests mentioned above. He told me that if I want to do those tests, I would have to go to an RE. My RE charges $300.00 for the appointment alone!! DH and I are going to go broke soon with these medical bills. So I was trying to use my OB dr but after my conversation on Friday with his office, they stated that they were willing to put me on the 50mg of Clomid for 3 months and then up me to 100mg for the next three months. He said if we did not get a BFP then he would refer me out to an RE. Urrrggg I am so frustrated. Puala, I will PM you soon. I have so many questions for you. I am heading to bed now though.

Sassycagirl68, Good luck to you and I hope you get some good results on the day 21 progesterone test. Keep us posted!

3rd IUI cycle with Femara. Had ultrasound today. One big follie (20 mm). I trigger tonight, then we do IUI on Wednesday morning.

If we're not successful this cycle then we're taking July & August off from medical assistance. My husband needs to do some travel for business and I figured this was a good opportunity for me to start a new workout/diet program and maybe take off about 10-15 pounds. Then if we don't have any success the "old fashioned" way, then in September we'll try a couple rounds of injectibles and IUI.

Anyway, I'm praying the 3rd times the charm and this cycle is the one. :fingerscrossed:

I would start checking at CD 9, and you might want to check 2xs a day if they aren't going to US monitor. I have missed my surge by not checking twice a day.

Lisa, push the Repronex in slowly. It's a LOT of liquid and it did leave welts on me, but it wasn't as bad when I went in slowly. You'll be just fine!

Cheryl,

I can't believe your ob won't do any those tests. Those tests really tell you a lot of info. Do you like your dr? Just asking because that would frustrate me. My previous dr wanted me to go immediately to a specialist w/o even trying!!! She still did the testing, not all, and put me on Clomid. I got pg in 4 months!!! Didn't last but I did. She was shocked. Anywho, changed after that and a few other things. I am sorry your dr won't do the tests. I am hoping for the best for you!!!

Tarabithia
06-23-2008, 07:40 PM
Good luck Cariann!!! Don't be nervous, it is really very easy. They put in the speculum, insert this floppy "needle," then squirt it all in. You may feel pressure when the needle is inserted, possibly a little cramping, but it is over rather quickly. I will have #3, most likely on wednesday (tomorrow is my u/s, and possible trigger shot), and it doesn't really phase me anymore. Just keep positive thoughts, think about the beautiful baby you will have, and relax!! (Hope this all helps!! it's really not that bad, I was scared to death the 1st time, and DH couldn't be there with me so I was alone with the dr and nurse. Honestly, it was more uncomfortable feeling during the 2nd IUI when DH WAS there... but it's over fast, and you may have the results you want in the end!!)

Good luck!!! :)

Lee Ann, thinking of you and hope all went well this morning. KUP!!

Ladies, I am officially right behind you! Went in for CD3 monitoring yesterday and got the green light to start stims last night. I learned that I still ovulate while on bcp (seriously? and I still can't get pg? what's up with this body of mine??) and that lupron over suppresses me. So I am done with lupron, and they bumped my gonal-f up to 225 but left menopur at 75. I'll know more on Thursday when I go back for my next monitoring appointment.

I would like to join this thread, you all seem so supportive of each other.
This is my story. My husband and I have been ttc for 3 years, or at least haven't been preventing for 3 years. We started our "fertility journey" last fall.
My husband had a vericocele repair in December, with no significant changes to his count. So, we moved on to Clomid...thinking that's all we would start with. The doc encouraged us to do Clomid with IUI right away.
This is our first round... We did Clomid days 3-7 and then Hcg shot on day 13, after an ultrasound. I had one good follicle. IUI was on day 15, and that was a week ago.
They have me on progesterone and I feel very symptomatic...dizzy, hot flashes, moody and VERY tired.
My husband feels like this is it, I pray he's right. I kinda feel it too, but I know I'm holding back to protect myself. I know God is in control no matter what, and that's what I keep clinging to.

Update on me is OK, but not so great. After the retrieval and fertilization we are only looking at 2 embies that are on the go. I think in stimming so long the lead embies were all past due and there were a lot of immature follicles. But I only need one for a baby!!

Oddly enough, I DID read somewhere about the pineapple... and totally unrelated, I bought pineapple on Friday, so I will start eating it after the IUI tomorrow (Oh, and hubby saw the pineapple last time when I had my IUI done, and he thought I was crazy for eating it, and he ate half my pineapple!!!)

Yes, it is normal for some people to fell crampy. Your uterus is used to receiving sperm in the unwashed form, so having it washed is almost like having a foreign body in there, so your body reacts to it by cramping, if that makes any sense?? That was how it was explained to me. Your uterus is not used to "clean": spermies :)

The best thing to do is settle down with something to drink (non alcoholic of course!!), and watch tv or read a book, or even sleep!! You will feel much better in a little bit.

I'm so glad I have IUI buddies this time!! The last two were killer on the wait, and I had no one to talk to about it.

Oh, and Cariann, don't worry about skipping a cycle, DH and I did 2 IUI's, skipped last month because he was out of town, and are back to #3 this month. I think it is better because it gives your body a chance to rest. But I am hoping you won't need to worry about that!! :)

hi all!!! I am back The IUI went alright. A bit more painful this time. Apparently my cervix was tipped down today (sorry for TMI!!) so he had to use some tool to lift it up some (FYI- NOT FUN!!). DH's SA was down from last time, but not as bad as the first 1. I am hoping having the other doctor do it will give me a good chance

so, my funny story of the appointment... I'm in the stirrups, he has the speculum in, then he uses the tongs or whatever to bring my cervix up, and I get the WORST urge to sneeze... I mean, we are talking full on, pee yourself sneezing!!! And I am sitting there scared to death cause I am worried that if I sneeze, the tools will pop out and hit the doctor, or that some gas would pass from one of the open areas down there... I mean, I am seriously freaking out!!! Then he put in the syringe thingy, and I totally lost all thoughts of sneezing...

I was laughing sooo hard after he left because I kept having this image of speculum popping out and knocking him in the head,

What CD did you start stimming, Malf? What meds do they have you on?

Just curious... I like reading the various protocols.

Hey Lisa. I started stimming on CD3 after everything came back ok on baseline monitoring. I'm on 225 of Gonal-F and 75 of Menopur.

Sounds like it's working! :hooray:I just got the call, and I have E2 of 82, LH .44 and 11 antral follies, all of which looks GOOD they say. All 11 follies are under 10mm, but they tell me that's ok since I've had only 3d of stims. My only real concern is my lining being 4.5 when it needs to get above 8. This was an issue during my IUI, too. Please send thick thoughts my way, girls!

Hello ladies!
There are quite a few of us in here now! Sorry I haven't been writing much...I do read and stay in the loop with you ladies!!! I'm in the 1ww starting today...no symptoms...not really paying much attention. (big change for me...I usually obsess!) I've been busy working in my studio...I'm going to start selling my stained glass work in my mom's store. I'm pretty excited about it...it really keeps my mind off of everything. We find out in one week if we celebrate a BFP or celebrate sending in our adoption application! :) I'm excited either way. The application is almost completely finished so we'll be ready by next week if we need it.

Hello and good luck to all of you new ladies! I hope we all get exactly what we want out of all of this!!! :)

Good luck to those of you who have been here for a while too! I'll be lurking!!!

Jess

Good luck to you all ladies! I did IUI my last 2 cycles, but am skipping this cycle due to a cyst that ruptured last week. If I don't get BFP all on my own, I will be doing another IUI next month. I am so anxious to see some success stories on this thread!

Just a quick note. I was on Clomid for 4 months. The best month that I had was the month that I exercised a lot. Not to the point of pain but about a hour a day 5 days a week. I did not exercise much the rest of the time because one month I was sick and one month I was on vactation. My advice to you would be to exercise as much as possible, get up and move around especially those with PCOS. It really helps.

Lisa I am waiting for CD 1 to get here finished my 21 days of BC to get rid of right sided cyst on Tues pm. So with any luck AF is right around the corner and then we can start our stims. We are actually very excited about this and hoping that this will lead to some good results. I will keep you all updated, work is really crazy and is keeping me working lots of extra shifts right now.
