Mal, I LOVE that siggy! June's coming SOON! Does that mean you're on BCP now or does that start in June?
Thanks, Mia. :hugs: AF should turn up the last week of May, so bcp starts then, lupron in June, and, if all goes well, I should be stimming end of June with ER and ET in early July! :yeehaw::yeehaw::yeehaw: I can't wait to meet you in the PAS board!!!

Never thought I'd say it, but....I can't wait to be boring!!!! :lol:I'll have a hi-test one for you this weekend, though. I am throwing DH a big bday party and I'm going to party like it's my last 2WW pre-IVF. B/C it is!!!! :celebrate::dance: :gome:

Sylvia...how'd it go? Can't wait for you update!
It went very well! I am in a lot of pain and bloated but other than that I am doing well.
They were able to retrieve 28 eggs... 22 were mature and 18 fertilized. My doctor called today and said that they are going to freeze 10 today and save eight for the transfer date.. they will pick out two of the best ones (she said three, but i only want two back in). :)
She think I may still be at risk to hyper-stimulate, I am taking it very easy for the next five days... I am so exhausted today and all I did was drive a few miles to pick up something.
hopefully everything will go well with the transfer:pray:

Wow! What great news! You got lots of eggies to choose from. Wow!
It's so great to hear tha tyou had so many good eggs and that so many fertilized. Do you know when you'll transfer or does that depend?
I've been doing pretty well, but definitely getting more and more uncomfortable. One of my girlfriends at work noticed I was walking funny! :) I went for monitoring this am and I am close to triggering. They want me to do one more night of stims tonight and then go back in tomorrow. Looks like I could be triggering tomorrow night w/an ER of Saturday. Fingers crossed.
I hope you start to feel better and that your risk of hyper-stimulating goes away quickly! I'll say prayers for your little embies!!!! :D
Mia.. sounds like you have a couple of softballs in there! I totally felt like that, it's not so bad today... but still VERY tender to the touch and when I walk.
Maybe they should just give us all walkers toward the end of the stims... seriously I was walking like an old lady, shuffling my feet and sort of waddling. Real attractive. I told my husband to imagine his testes about 5 times bigger than usual. He said.. please don't make me think about that. hehe
That is so exciting!! Your follies are going to grow a lot more over night!! and then I guess they will have you trigger on Thursday night?? yeah! We're so close, I hope we both get pregnant and graduate together!!!
My transfer is scheduled on Friday, I'll get a call from the nurse tomorrow the time.
I'll say some prayers for your eggies and follies... !!! This is so exciting!! Let me know how your appointment goes tomorrow. :)
WOWSA Sylvia!! That's a lot of eggs and a lot of embies!!! :cheer: Sending tons of  your way for a great transfer tomorrow.
Same to you, Mia, for a great retrieval!! I cannot wait to see you guys move on outta here!!! :sun:

Amandagirl: you're an angel!! thank you so much. and it is so funny that you asked how much my appendix weighs b/c thats what my bff that took me to the doc for my first follow up asked. She actually did ask the doc. the bad news is that it only weigh an ounce or two. but i did loose a few lbs from being dehydrated in the hospital cuz i wouldnt eat anything and they had taken the iv out, but i gained it back as soon as i got home. Thanks again, you are so sweet. I hope you dont have to have surgery, but if you do remember to only do it for yourself. dont let anyone make you feel like you have to do it. (trust me heavy people can have kids. dont tell her but i am pretty sure that my cousin is over 320 and 5'5" and she just had twins that makes 4 for her). But on the other hand you might get your diabetes under control wich will totally help when you ARE pregnant. (i said when you ARE, not IF, MAYBE, or IN CASE) i just know this is going to happen for you! I know it will.
So here i will do some complaining, buckle up! :
i hate that everyone around me is pregnant. everyone. it sucks the one person who isn't pregnant has adopted her little girl and everything. it was really hard on me at mothers day. first my husband's parents have been taking care of his cousins month 2 old baby, every other weekend it seems like. i kept thinking why cant they be playing with/feeding/loving our baby. Then the big announcement that another cousin who has 4 girls already, I think the oldest is 7 or 8 and this cousin is younger than me or my age. then i call my step mom and my step-sister-in-law is pregnant, and i am happy for her really (she and my step brother have been married 4 years and they both work and are responsible and will be able to take care of a baby)but i am fixing to start my fourth round of clomid and if this doesnt work i am out of options. my doctor said if clomid doesnt work we will have to try something else. i cant afford something else. really i cant and i dont have time to waste either. Even one of my other friends has a new grandbaby on the way.
by the way: have yall noticed how it sooooo popular to be pregnant. celebreties are preggo, there are preggo movies, (dont watch knocked up my husband and his friend wanted to see it when it came out on dvd and i had just got AF-i cried all the way through it) why is it all the sudden something like this that we hold so dear and yearn for from the bottom of our hearts can be made trendy like keeping a chiahuhau in a purse??? :headbang:
ok thats all for now, i guess, better not rant too long or i will get kicked off the board LOL.
lots of prayers & love

We have been taking Clomid for 2 cycles now and yesterday our doc informed us that we have growing folicles! I'm so excited!!! This is great news but this morning I woke up with a yeast infection. Is it okay to take diflucan when I'm so close to ovulation? And since I've been taking Clomid? I don't want to mess up our chances to get prego.

Mistyms~ Glad to hear you're feeling better!
It is so frustrating when everyone around you is pregnant...and I totally agree with how popular it has become to be pregnant in the entertainment world!
{{HUGS}} to you...
labane~ :welcome: Congrats on the growing follies!
How close are you to 'O'ing? I'm sorry about the yeast infection...those are no fun! I'd call your doc and ask about the diflucan...
Thanks Malf... :) We're taking you with us... We'll be here with you cheering and praying for your softball sized ovaries and you many follies and eggs!!
They haven't called me yet, They usually have a short meeting after lunch and then call patients. So... probably around 3 or 4 today.
TMI... I am so freakin' constipated, the pressure is awful. Are you having this yet? I've haven't had this problem in about a year. arrr!!
Mia...how did your appointment go today?? What time is your retrieval tomorrow?? I'll be praying for you!!!

I know, Mal, I'm dying to hear back about Sylvia's transfer!
No news from me yet...reporting to the hospital tomorrow morning at 7; retrieval's scheduled for 8. It's hard to believe it's here already, but boy could my ovaries use the relief!
Hi ladies!!!
I had three embryos transferred back this morning.... We had one that is perfect 'A' quality and the other two were 'B' quality. We have a cute little picture of our three eight cell baby's. :)
When we went into the transfer room, they had a stereo playing some jazz music and a bouquet of flowers next to it... I guess to give it a spa type feeling. After the nurse left, I told DH to "quick.. put on some Barry White, and light some candles." haha I don't know why the setting kept making me laugh.
My DH then decided that classical music would be more appropriate. Just as she was about to put the embryos in the music became climactic and I started to laugh. She said ok.. you need to be relaxed. I literally had to bite my fingers so I wouldn't laugh.
Anyway, It went very well.. just hanging out in bed for a little while now. hoping one of these will take!! :)
Sticky, sticky vibes Sylvia!! I can't wait to see your BFP! Mia, hope all went well this morning. Waiting on the embie count!

Hi girls!
Back from retrieval! They got 14 eggs and all went well! DH said they even cheered each time they got one! :silly:
I won't know what fertilized until tomorrow...have to call late morning. Biting our fingernails here!
Sylvia! Congrats on your transfer! Sounds like a fun time! Hahaha! I'll say a special prayer that your embies burrow in nice and tight!

Hey Group, I found you last night.
I'm Robin, 30, in NC.
I had ER on Monday 5/12 and ET on Thursday 5/15.
They put back 3 -Stage 1s or (Grade A)
The 2ww is killing me.
DH and I haven't told our friends about our cycle (this is our second).
And he will barely let me out of bed to pee. I am going stir crazy and looking
for some friends to talk to.
2 of my local cycle buddies are cycling two weeks after me and they have started to
get stand-offish. Which I understand. I'll get my 1st test results the week they
go in for ER.
How are all of you doing?

Girls I am finally joining your ranks...after 2 m/c (at 10w & 5w) and 11 months of trying we are moving to IVF. I started the BCP on the 13th and have a saline HSG and trial transfer Monday at 9:30 where I get my injectable instructions and schedule. I am excited but a bit nervous...especially about the retrieval process. Any tips and suggestion would be very welcomed. Good luck to you all!!

Well, girls...got our news today. Of our 14 eggs, 14 were mature and 13 fertilized. They said all 13 looked good so we'll have to wait for tomorrow for an update! Looks like I'll be going in for the transfer on Tuesday!
Sylvia, I am TOTALLY w/you on the constipation bit. And gassy! Ouch! What's that all about? It's driving me crazy.
Robin and Lee Ann, welcome! Robin, I hope your wait goes by quickly, you'll be in good company.
LA- can't wait until you're cycling too! You and Mal will probably be cycle buddies!
Sylvia, how are you holding up? Spending lots of quality time resting and letting the bambinos get tucked in? How many days do we have to wait for that BFP??? :pace:
Mia, WOWSA that's a lot of embies! How many will you put back? Sending lots of good dividing vibes and cannot wait to hear your update!!
Robin, welcome! I hope your 2ww is short and the results sweet!
Lee Ann, welcome! Looks like you and I can keep this thread alive together. :silly: I won't be too far behind you - should start bcp last week of May. What's your protocol? It will be so nice to have someone here with me!
lsolt
05-18-2008, 03:39 PM
Malf...I have been on the BCP for a week...I end them on June 2nd...I have been off BCPs for so long I have no idea how long it takes for AF to arrive after I stop...I was thinking 2 days after. I will find out tomorrow what my protocol is...can't wait. Dana, Robin and Sylvia...how much time did each of you take off after retrieval?? I kind of want to plan to take it very easy for the week of retrieval and transfer and I have no idea of what to expect.
Miabella
05-18-2008, 04:20 PM
Lee Ann - I rested most of the day of the retrieval (yesterday) and today was pretty much normal (though a weekend and w/ a 2-hour nap tucked in there!)
After transfer, my doc wants 3 days of "couch potato status". If I transfer Tuesday, I'll probably just take the rest of the week off since I have the time; that'll transition me nicely into the long 3-day Memorial weekend, so I'll have a whole 7 days to let my little guys settle into their new home! :silly:
lsolt
05-18-2008, 06:14 PM
Dana...What great timing for you. I will plan to take a week off just to be safe. I am starting to get nervous
Mia, that is awesome... you did very well with making those eggs!!! I am finally feeling like my ovaries are 'normal', I still have some pain here and there but nothing like the four days after transfer. geez, that was sooo painful!!
Welcome Lee Ann and Robin!! Good to have you here! My transfer was at 10:30a on Friday... so I spent all Friday and most of saturday in bed. I couldn't take it anymore... so my DH and I drove up to Mt Wilson last night to look at the city lights. I just wanted out of the house. But then I got car sick and forgot to bring a snack and was hell on wheels - literally... I made him hand over the keys for me to drive. hehe
Today I pretty much vegged out, I decided to take tomorrow off work and I told my DH that I really want to go somewhere, I'm going stir crazy. So we're going to a museum, I think the science center or the Huntington Libraries. :)
So all together I have dedicated 8 days to the process. I totally recommend resting AFTER the retrieval, and at least a day after transfer. I was borderline hyper-stimulation, so I took it really easy. The embryos are pretty snug in there, so I think they are ok.
I'm just worried because we had only one 8 cell A/B and two 8 cell B... no 'A's. So... who knows. It may or may not work. I guess that's why they have these IVF refund programs!! I just don't want this to be all for naught. So i'm a little stressed.

Hi there -
I have a question regarding IVF. Do you have to go on BCP one prior to starting the IVF process? Just trying to plan our next steps. Wishing you all much success:)
Danielle
Miabella
05-19-2008, 09:10 AM
Danielle- I think the decision to do BCP depends on your doctor, your history, and past cycles (if any). The idea is to suppress you, so if you're doing Lupron the BCP will overlap w/that. There are alot of different protocols, though and generally your doc will pick one that has worked for them and that they think will fit you. Good luck!

Back from my initial IVF appt: the trial transfer went well and we have "THE PLAN". I take my last BCP on June 1st...and my IVF Start Appt. is June 5th where I have an U/S to check for cysts and get my estrodiol checked and start my meds.
SO I start with the stim meds on the 5th and add in a med called Ganirelix after I have been on the stim meds for several days to keep me from ovulating before the kids are RIPE (no Lupron), and I will have u/s checks every 3-5 days. Retrieval will be the week of the 16th with the transfer being somewhere between the end of the week and the following Monday or Tuesday depending on how early they retrieve. Well Girls I should then know the week of July 1st if I am a mommy or not.

Hey Isolt,
How did your appointment go?
My suggestions for you are to stay as organized as possible and carry your stuff
with you almost everywhere. If you get a phone call on your cell phone about
needing to change your medication you can pull out your med schedule and make a note.
Also track your weight change on your schedule.
I gained 30 lbs with my first cycle, but this cycle I didn't have the weight gain.
My husband and I think the weight gain was because we didn't eat very well and my hyper-stimulation side effects were not as bad this cycle too.

Are any of you ladies going to do a HPT before your first beta?
If so, what day are you going to do it on, how many days after Hcg Injection?
Robin0472
05-19-2008, 07:03 PM
Sorry, I was a little behind on the thread. I guess it is important to REFRESH before replying.
I am a Stay at Home Wife, Thank heavens, so I don't need to be anywhere but on
my back. (has a whole new meaning when your IVF-ing, HA)
I got very sick after retrieval, RN said my hormones were really high.
So I definitely needed the next day too. They put me on Phenergan so I slept
well.
Constipation - My Dr. has me on Colace (softner). I started it the day of my HCG,
Had not had a good movement in 5 days and called RN - She told me I needed to also take Fiber for you to go. So I am on 2 Colace and 3 Fibercon a day, with my Prenatal Vitamins. HALLELUJA! Being IMPACTED is not Good! Call your nurse if you are having difficulty poopin' and ask what they recommend.
Thursday was Transfer and I didn't do anything until yesterday - Sunday, I took the dogs out 2 times.
Today, Monday, I went to lunch with hubby, and I did a few loads of laundry.
Hubby may need to put them away.
I Experienced a little cramping today. Anyone else?
YAY Mia!!! so excited for you... report back tomorrow!!! I can't wait to hear!
My suggestions for you are to stay as organized as possible and carry your stuff
with you almost everywhere. If you get a phone call on your cell phone about
needing to change your medication you can pull out your med schedule and make a note
I totally agree with this!! I actually carried my 'notebook' and all misc papers with me, all the documents in a tote bag when I went to work, etc. you never know when they are going to be asked for something or your schedule or meds change, or you'll need to contact the pharmacy, etc..
Also, not sure if any one here uses google calendars or have an iphone or what not. But I entered ALL of my dates and medications dosages right before the cycle started and then updated as it changed. I love graphs and calendars so this worked well for me. But with all the injections and visits, it's easy to get a little confused at times.
I wish my doctor put me on Colace. I was in SO much pain. I spoke to the doctor the day before my transfer and she told me to take some Milk of Magnesia - worked wonders!! Definitely ask your nurse or doctor toward the end of your stims, it's not pretty...
Robin - Besides almost hyper-stimulating and having ovaries the size of softballs, I just felt like I had done 100 sit ups, it was painful and I was bloated. I've been up and about doing some things like a little walking here and there, driving, etc... cooking, laundry, but taking it easy. I got really depressed yesterday from being stuck in the house. I'm not at home much during the week, so with the hormones and being on 'house arrest' as I have called it... I was pretty miserable. We went out today for a little drive, lunch and a quick stop at the mall. I feel so much better now... sort of excited to go back to work tomorrow. sick.. I know.
Do you still feel really bloated? I feel super bloated and I get crazy hungry whenever I get into the car - seriously... similar to a overwhelming heat and near vomit feeling until I have something substantial in my stomach. I tried taking glucose only, but that didn't work. I have only gained 2 pounds so far and trying to keep it at that. bleh.
About 4 hours again, I started feeling like I am having period type cramps.. sort of a heavy feeling in my uterus. did you experience this?
It's starting to worry me again, because I feel like I'm about to start AF now.
Also.. I had a thought, since I am so freakin' bloated, I have thought about buying a couple of bella bands, just so I can let my gut hang out while at my desk. Has anyone here tried them, even just for pregnancy? I'm not sure how tight they are etc... but this was the only work around I could come up with for my severe bloating problem.

Hi girls! Thanks for the well wishes and thoughts! The transfer went well this am. Transfered 2 7-cell "perfect pedigree" embryos. I'm a little confused, though, cause RE said they had a "perfect pedigree" but only rated them grade 2. ???????
Anyway, the other 11, unfortunately, were pretty poor and wouldn't even make it to freeze. I can't say I'm too surprised because we have severe male-factor issues, and RE says that men w/DH's issue have trouble making strong embryos. Thank God for our two good ones! Let's hope that's all we need!
So far feeling ok. I wish I had thought to ask for something for the gas/bloat/constipation. The last few days have been AWFUL! Today seems better, but I'm still pooping out "deer droppings" (I know, WAY TMI. Sorry!). Ugh. So frustrating.
Robin- I'm not sure about the HPT. What are you girls planning to do? I'm not sure if I'll wait until my beta (6/1) or break down and test beforehand. I'm trying to figure which would be less psychologically damaging if neg.
Well...it's "house arrest" for me now! (I love that, Sylvia!) Hugs, girls! :D

Hey Silvia & Everyone
It sounds like you are showing signs of moderate Hyperstimulation.
The day of my HCG I was really beginning to feel like crap and this clinic (I was in DC last time) told me to drink Gatorade and V8 juice (I did the mango/peach stuff). I rolled my eyes and said "whatever". But it worked. The next day I felt good, only tender inside if I sat down the wrong way or I sat too fast. PRUNE JUICE is good for constipation and has 8% daily iron - Drink w/ a straw, not that bad.
My first cycle was HORRIBLE!! (April/May 2006) I was waddling, I was miserable, my stomach was so bloated, I had the stretching feeling around my ribs/belly/back. I couldn't sleep in bed.
I cried at the second IVF orientation b/c I didn't want to go through it again.
This second cycle has been so much better than my 1st, I told DH, I won't mind doing this a 3rd time if we have to.
My Dr. told me my symptoms were not as bad because this was my second IVF and my ovaries had done this before/been this size before.
I've had a couple of cramps. (pretty sure they are normal). I've had some pain in my inguinal area (pubic bone on sides). Yesterday morning I had a sharp pain up the side of my belly. I wake up in the AM a little nauseated, but that could be my imagination.
Your comments about your ravished hunger: I had the same problem after I started BCPs. I would go from sweet and loving to RAGING HUNGRY CRYING WITCH in .002 seconds. My acupuncturist suggests NUTS for snacks, Macadamia and all Peanut mixes. I think it is because they metabolize slower and you avoid the sugar spikes. Try to be careful about sugar snacks and try to cut out sodas, they can cause bloating.
Keep a zip-lock bag of nuts in your purse and get a container for work just grab a few even if you aren't hungry. This has helped me.
Sending out **Sticky dust**.... sticky sticky sticky sticky stickies!
HPT - is anyone going to do it before your beta?
I know some women use them to keep track of the HCG in their system.
6-days until beta!
Have a great day all..
Robin
Anyway, the other 11, unfortunately, were pretty poor and wouldn't even make it to freeze. I can't say I'm too surprised because we have severe male-factor issues, and RE says that men w/DH's issue have trouble making strong embryos.
It's good that you got two strong ones!! I guess I'm ignorant, because I didn't know that about the male-factor and embryos. I guess I sort of did. But didn't think that it could be the cause of why some of our embryos were grade C, and one was fragmented. It makes sense though.
let's just pray that we all find out we're knocked up by next week!!! I'm crossing everything for all of us! I REALLY want us all to graduate together! I'm staying hopeful! A bit hormonal and all... but hopeful!! :)

Miabella,
Congratulations on your Transfer!!
We are also male factor we used fresh TESA in 2006 and froze the rest. This time
we used on frozen vial. We had 11 eggs, 9 fertilized, 3 survived to transfer.
We are right there with you girl!
Call your RE's nurse and tell them you need to poop and what they recommend. You paid massive $ for them to try to make a baby, they can AT LEAST give you the Dr. recommended meds. Most stuff can be OTC, but maybe anything stronger can be called into your pharmacy.
**HIGH 5**
If you want an interesting website to look at, go to www.peeonastick.com
yes that would be PEE ON A STICK. DH doesn't want me to do HPT, but
I might the day before my beta, we'll see.
**sticky sticky sticky stickies!!!!

Sylvia, what's your plan re- POAS?
I totally want us all to graduate together too! It's been a silver lining of all this IVF to get to know you ladies! Y'all are awesome!
Oh, and Robin, I tried one of my girlfriends Bella bands. It was great! I didn't try it when i was stimming so I wasn't bloated, but it was firm but not super tight (I guess they're designed to grow w/you).
Go on girls!!! You all are blowing this pop stand and soon!!!!:dance::dance:

I must admit.... I had two 99 cent EPT's under my sink in my bathroom... and guess what I did yesterday and today?? yup! knowing it is way too early I did it anyway, I just had to pee on something. I also saw an old OPK I never used as well. might pee on that at some point too!! :)
I think I'm going to order one of those bella bands, for my freakin' bloating issues. I'm busting out of pants that were big on me before this, but I have only gained two pounds... But apparently ALL in my belly area. ugh.

Sticky vibes!!!!!! I am so excited for you, Mia!
Thanks, Lisa!
Sylvia, I know what you mean. I haven't DARED to weigh myself, though. But, it's pretty much all belly (and a little more dreaded softness b/c I haven't worked out in heavens knows how long). I was wearing my "fat" pants the other day and they fit everywhere except for the fact that the poor button was straining not to bust right off! Ugh.
I have so say, though, I've been drinking a lot of mango nectar w/seltzer and it has helped I think (a la prune juice)
Here's a question...how inactive are you guys being? I was told to be a couch potato for the next few days...but how strictly should I be taking this? I swear the time is going by more slowly as a result!

Hey Miabella,
It sounds like the walls are closing in on you.
I'm laying around not doing much. I'll go out for a few
hours. I'm doing my progesterone suppositories every 8 hours so
I make it back home by 2pm an sit around for an hour or two.
My Dr. said 48 hours after transfer not to do anything.
Then I read on another website 72 hours.
My Dr. Didn't want us to lift more than 5 lbs.
But I think that was after retrieval - but I'm not telling DH that.
I went on my first outing 3 days after transfer.
But Husband was home with me and we just snuggled
down and talked to the bubbles and watched movies.
Slyvia, I can't believe how close to testing you are!!! I can't wait to do the happy dance. :gome::gome::gome:
Mia, try not to climb the walls now. Just think of it as getting the rest you won't when the babe(s) arrive! :rolly:
Good luck to all of you trying not to go stir crazy today! Someday soon, I aspire to be under house arrest.
My update - just had my injection class today and will start bcp next week. :yeehaw::yeehaw: See you in PAS!!!

GIRLS,
I beta on Monday but Monday is Memorial Day!
:ohno:
Just now my RE's RN called, I can't beta till TUESDAY!!
Even if I did beta on Monday, they
would not get the results till Tuesday!!
I AM SO GOING TO do a HPT this weekend.
ARGGGGGGGGG!!!
:headbang:
Oh, woke up at 4am, feeling like it was 90 in the house. I checked the thermostat and could not go back to sleep.
I wanted McD's Sausage Biscuit (healthy huh?!), so left the house with one of the dogs at 6:30am. Hum...Was this a real craving?
Please please please.
So DH got breakfast in bed.

Yes I agree with the celbs's all getting pregnant. A girl I work with has been trying to have a baby too and she is a lot older then me and I just like 5 min ago found out that she is pregnant!!! That sucks, I work with her everyday and she has only been trying for like 9 months and was sooo depressed that she wasn't, I wanted to tell her guess how I feel!! Anyway that is my rant.
I just got my last O number and it was 11.7 which means that I did O but not that great. I am going to try it one more month and if not then I am going to have the surery. I am doing it for me not for anyone else but My blood sugar is good.
Here's a question...how inactive are you guys being? I was told to be a couch potato for the next few days...but how strictly should I be taking this? I swear the time is going by more slowly as a result!
I was pretty inactive... but did go and do a couple of things. I think I posted about this earlier, but I am not one to just stick at home. I get super depressed if I am not outside or doing something. So I had to at least be able to walk around and experience life a little.
I've been walking around work too... hopefully I'm not screwing anything up, but I haven't been on the treadmill or weights or anything since right around the first few days of stims.
Today... I have a massive headache, hungry as usual, slight menstrual type cramps here and there, but that is it.. I think it's just all the progesterone and estrogen in my body right now, those supplements makes me nuts.
Thank goodness my mind is so distracted right now with work, my DH (taking care of him now after his shoulder surgery). I also am working on my resume too, I just got a call from a headhunter, which was so awesome. I'm going to see if I can have her look for something for me by beginning of November at that company, after I have reached five years at this company. So.. I'm trying to have stuff to look forward too if this doesn't happen for me right away.
Keeping my fingers crossed... and staying cautiously optimistic.
I was thinking... Maybe we should rename this thread 'IVF blog' sort of like the Clomid Blog??
Or maybe even ask for an IVF room so we can have multiple threads about IVF related issues? I know medical assistance covers it as a general room... so maybe it is better to just keep it as a sticky??
It just such a huge process to go through and I sometimes visit IVF boards that discuss IVF, but I always like being here more than the other websites.
What do you think?
Robin0472
05-21-2008, 03:10 PM
You could call us the April/May-bees.
Maybes.. MayBees, MayBee Babies, Maybe Babies
Sylvia, I think it would be a GREAT idea to rename this sticky!:clap::clap: Since I'm more June/July than April/May, I'll keep the torch burning here. And I couldn't agree more - APA is "home," even if I do ocassionally "vacation" on other boards. :rolly: Yep, when I start making jokes like that it is time to leave work!! Good night, all.
Maybes.. MayBees, MayBee Babies, Maybe Babies
:rolly: I love it!!
I think I will ask the mod to re-name the thread to something more general, I'll think of something... because we're sort of a collect all of several start / completion dates.
That way can just keep adding to it. It will be like our very own IVF sisters diaries or something! :)

It will be like our very own IVF sisters diaries or something! :)
In my emotional state:
IVF SISTERS
really tugged at my heartstrings.
That's perfect... I have IM'd the mods... so, we'll see if it gets changed today. :)
How's everyone feeling today?
I am depressed again. I feel like I am getting sick. I had a bad headache yesterday and a mild one today. My lymph nodes are swollen, and I feel REALLY tired and bloated. These hormones are really doing wonders to my body. My muscles also feel tired all over, I fell asleep pretty early last night, and it was hard to get out of bed.
I still have AF type cramping/discomfort... a lot on the right side.. like itchy feeling and just a heavy feeling in my uterus.
I'm just so sleepy and want to go home and sleep. :sleepy:
But I do want some more tacos at lunch. I had some yesterday, but they were not that great... so I'm going for some decent ones today!
How are you ladies holding up???
Miabella
05-22-2008, 11:43 AM
You girls crack me up! I love the idea of a more permanent "home" for us IVF sisters!
I'm holding up ok. I thought I'd be more stir crazy by now but I'm holding up. I have some twingy cramps today (but I KNOW it's too early to mean anything...I'm 2dp3dt for Pete's sake!) but that's all. Must be the progesterone.
Good news is my belly bloat is down and I can fart again! (the things we celebrate). Sylvia, are you out of the woods w/the OHSS risk just yet?
Did a little house picking up today but nothing major. And a friend of mine gave me a visualization CD, enhancing fertility, so I listened to that. I think I slept during the middle track, but at least it served to relax me a bit and breathe!
Sylvia, I agree...I do wish we had an IVF board, though. It's such a unique animal.
I hope all you girls are well! XOXO

Hey girls,
Yesterday I was having really bad AF type cramping.
Today, I have had a type of stitch in my side, around my
ovary areas. I am mildly nauseated.
I went out to lunch with our old realtor, then
I went to the Dollar Store and bought 7 HPTs.
They are small cassettes, you have to pee in a cup (not provided)
then drop 4 drops of urine with this itsy bitty pipette.
The woman at www.peeonastick.com says they are pretty
accurate and for $1 what the heck.
The woman at the register, must have thought I was crazy.
Haa haa haa.
I Let the dogs play outside for awhile, then time for progesterone
and relax.
This waiting is driving me bonkers, as the time moves forward
I'm getting more anxious than excited.
DH should probably get home about 4:30 and he has a 4-day weekend!!
Our neighbor just got back from Chile and gave us a bottle of wine.
And the 21 y/o girl in the condo below us is about to have her 1st baby
any min. (w/in a week). Her MIL just got into town yesterday.
I pray next week won't be HELL.
 Oh please please please please.
:stickyvibes::stickyvibes::stickyvibes: To everyone.
so... Where are you going to Pee on one of those sticks?!?!
You have 7... so using one right now wouldn't be so bad???????!
Okay, nobody move and everybody just zip up and back away from the sticks slowly.....:lol::lol: Seriously, I can't believe you haven't caved already with seven of them in the house, Robin! I will be thinking of you all over the long weekend and eagerly awaiting updates....
Robin0472
05-22-2008, 03:52 PM
Used one this afternoon.
Neg. But it was middle of day.
DH said I could buy one, hee hee.. he doesn't know I've bought 7.
I did find this.
"When does implantation occur?
Implantation can start to occur as soon as 6-10 days after retrieval (I use "after retrieval" because embryos can be transferred on different days of development. Count the retrieval day as day 0). Five days after the retrieval a healthy embryo will have reached the blastocyst stage. Six-seven days after the retrieval, a healthy embryo will start breaking out of its hard outer shell and begin the implantation process. After the healthy embryo has implanted in the uterus it will not start secreting hCG for several more days. You will probably not be able to feel the implantation process."
Today would be day 10 and according to this, I may have no hCG in
system. I will try first thing in AM.
Movies tonight with hubby.
**HUGS**
to you all!
Robin
Right back at you, Robin!!! :silly:

Dana...LOL...I am glad you found relief!!! but 2 DPT is like 7-10 DPO so it's not really as early as it seems...remember they were put right in and that takes the whole "cross Fallopian" travel out of the pic...Come in BFP!!
Robin Good Luck with the POAS this weekend...sending you lots of +++ vibes.

05-24-2008, 05:56 AM
Okay,
I got up at 4am and figured what the heck.
Pulled out the $1 store cassette test and was a neg.
Pulled out the EPT and 3 little dots formed on the positive part of
the test. Was this an error? So I got online and started researching.
I found another website that said the EPT test is really reads a level of 50
not 25. Soooo... I tried to go back to sleep, did my 6am meds, waited until 6:20am took one of my dogs with me to Walgreens and bought a First Response test. I came home and peed. Well, there are definitely 2 lines.
I sound like Rainman, Two lines, two lines, see! Two lines.. Definitely two lines.
It is faint, but there. I have two more of the First Response and
I want to do it again and make sure it is not an error.
I bounced my DH awake and showed him. He says he'll be really
excited if we get THE BFP on Tuesday.
Here is some of our Worries during IVF.
1. You worry if your meds will work/right dosage/ Oh yea and shooting yourself up, I hope you get over your fear of needles.
2. you worry that you might miss a dose of medication or you might do it wrong.
3. You worry about how many follicles you have and your endo lining is thick enough.
4. You worry that you don't miss your HCG trigger.
5. You worry about OHSS
6. Prenatal Vitamins/Are you eating right? - Should have been doing this for awhile - right?
7. Then after hCG trigger, you worry about ovulating early.
8. Are there really eggs in the follicles or are they empty.
9. In our Case, DID THE DELIVERY PEOPLE GET HUSBANDS FROZEN TESA SAMPLE HERE FROM D.C. - They had moved our cycle up by two weeks.
10. Will they find healthy sperm in husbands frozen sample.
11. Will they fertilize.
12. Will they make it to day 3
13. Will they be Stage 1 or 2?/
14. Gotta have full bladder for transfer - Will we need to do Assisted Hatching?/Will we need to freeze embryos?
15. Will the embryos get stuck in the catheter?
16. Then you wait, knowing this would be so much easier if they just
pumped you up with Valium for 2 weeks. Or we could get drunk.
17. 2WW, POAS or not to POAS.
Ok so now I have a HPT positive. - now I worry about
1. False positives.
2. Will it stick till BETA.
3. How many are there? Singleton, Twins, Triplets?
4. Could I have an Ectopic Pregnancy?
5. Will I make it to first ultrasound?
6. Will I make it through first Trimester?
7. If it is multiples will they both make it?
Have a great weekend and I will send out my extra sticky prayers for all of us.
Have a great Memorial Day Weekend!

Congratulations, Robin!!!!
OMG!!!!! Congrats!! That is sooo awesome!! you are soo pregnant!! I can't wait to see your numbers! I bet you have triplets in there!
I'm still trying to pull myself off of the sofa to take a shower and go to Target to buy some tests. My DH said I could get one, but not to get freaked out if it is negative because we have to wait for the blood on Monday.
I think he is afraid of a potential emotional breakdown.
Ok..
I have a VERY light light light pink line in the positive. I think I may have double lines!!! I will test again tomorrow morning.
To be triple sure I took the test apart, and I asked DH to tell me what he sees, he said two lines.
Well I had already pee'd on two 99 cent tests. I dug those out of the trash, I said well... if we can tell that these are definitely negative then we know this one is positive. (looking for residual dye or what not!) Well, guess what? out of those two tests, one was definitely negative, and the other way positive. (all my tests have the pink ink).
So... I think I might be pregnant. My DH said not to tell everyone yet. But OMG. I started to cry and say 'There is a line, right? There is a line... seriously, I think there is a line?!!? OMG... a line?"
It is very very light though... so... that's the only part that scares me. maybe I test tomorrow AM and it should be darker, right?

Thank you everyone for your well wishes.
My husband, all of you, and a good friend of mine in Kansas
are the only ones that know.
I have not tried again for today, but I want to.
I've attached the pic from this morning. I took the pic
with the camera on my Mac, which is why the words are backwards.
I did find tons of posts about people who didn't test positive until day
of their Beta and some that was negative but Beta was positive.
That is what I was researching at 4am.
I found this website about Beta Experiences.
http://ivf.ca/forums/index.php?showtopic=9063&st=0&p=88116&#entry88116
HcG Levels in HPTs - This is different than POAS.com
https://simplyivf.com/HPT_HCG_level.html
My RE is new in our area, he doesn't have a set of twins yet.
Wouldn't it be crazy! They did transfer 3 Stage 1s. I did ask
in orientation if there was a pool for the first set of twins.
Remember I should Beta on Monday, but can't b/c the lab is closed.
So, I'll be Beta-ing day 15.
Does anyone have a link that charts what Beta hCG levels should be?
Thank you everyone!

Wow...girls...a line is a LINE!!! :clap::dance::celebrate::gome:
:woot: I can't wait to hear your Beta numbers!
:stickyvibes: to you both!
Yeah, I was surprised that the dollar store was darker than the Accu-clear (it was the cheap one at target). I also got a First Response that I will take tomorrow morning. I bought two Accu-clears and Two First Response tests... so between all of these I should know something by tomorrow morning!!
Maybe I will be lucky and have twins in there. I really really want twins!!!
I just can't wait for the beta tests to make sure the babies are growing and will continue to grow as they should.
This is so freaking exciting! I never thought it would even be possible.
Oh.. and my line on the accu-clear is like a teeny tiny shade lighter than yours. On the dollar test it's just slightly darker!
That's a pretty good line you have there!!!!
Robin,
Here's the HCG Beta chart. Check it out.

Also.. Take a look at this, it's awesome, shows exactly where the embryos are through each phase, and then throughout pregnancy!!

Hey Ladies,
Just an update with the different brands of tests.
First Response - 2nd line showed up right away. About the same darkness as yesterday.
EPT - the 2nd line for the + definitely showed up today, yesterday I saw 2 dots.
$1 Store test - a faint line showed up today.
I should Beta tomorrow, but w/ holiday can't until Tuesday.
5:30am in Cali, I wonder when Sylvia is going to wake up.
Have a great Sunday Girls!

I am so excited and the only people I can be excited with
are you ladies.
Sylvia, what time do you go for your BETA tomorrow? Do you go to your IVF
clinic or to another lab? Do you have a specific time to go or do
you just walk in? Do you know what time you will find out?
Will you find out ASAP, or do you have to go home and wait?
I'm interested how they do it out there.
:stickyvibes: :stickyvibes:
I go to USC Fertility, and they have exam hours between 7:30am 9:30am every morning. I get results for my tests results between 4:30 - 5:30pm. They have a lab in the clinic, and then one they use on the outside for like infectious testing, etc..
I am going to call before I go to double check that someone will be there. The nurse was a little stretchy with the dates when she wrote up my return, but I'm told there is at least one nurse and one doctor there everyday no matter what. Because there are always women stimming, etc... and part of the contract if for the woman to go everyday for the week leading up to retrieval.
They are an awesome group of professionals... They are beyond great, I'm just so happy my DH and I found then when we did. They really do care about their patients. The doctors return emails and calls, My doctor checked in on me in the evenings some nights... It's just been a great experience all the way around.

I test again this morning... and the line is a lot darker, so it looks good. I'm not posting an announcement yet or moving into Expecting after struggling until I know my numbers are doubling... which will be tomorrow afternoon. Then I can say I am pregnant for sure. It's still just so unreal.
I've never in my life been pregnant, and have wanted to be so bad for so long... My DH and I just are still sort of in shock, like it could be really happening.

As for me, I took off, impromptu, to VT for the weekend. I have a good friend there who's pregnant, so I figured we could lounge around and do nothing together. Couldn't help to sleep in her house either, right?! Maybe breathe some preggo air!
It was good to take my mind off of the WAIT............ but now that I'm back I'm obsessing once again. What if this, and what if that. Ugh.

if I am not pregnant, (and pardon me if I am seriously skeptical here), by next month, we are moving on to injectibles.

Hi girls! I just popped in to see what's what in the IVF thread because it looks like my DH and I will be heading to IVF soon. Just wanted to say congratulations to Robin & Sylvia and wish you both tons of sticky dust! Good luck to everyone else and may it happen fast! :)

Welcome Elle!! I wish you tons of success!!
Mal...They don't have me on Lupron, They have me starting Antagon or Ganirelix a few days after I start stims. I am on the older side so my RE said the success is better with this protocol...lets hope so

I'm Jennifer (35) and DH (40).
Just had my second IUI today at 9:00 AM. I'm on Femara CD 3-7, then Ovidrel trigger on CD 12 between 8-10 PM. My RE likes to do IUI's 24 hours before O. Then she recommends BD either tonight or first thing in the morning.
If we're not successful this morning (although, for some reason I just have a really good feeling about this month:pray:) then we may do injectibles next cycle. We'll do a sit down the RE to discuss all the pros and cons.
I start progesterone suppositories on Friday. And I POAS June 11th.

Welcome, Elle, and thanks for the positive thoughts! As you can see...we're all maddened by this process (especially Mal...though I'd say she had a touch of that pre IVF too -- love ya, girl!)

Lee-Ellen 30, DH 32
Just had my first (and second) IUI this month. I took clomid days 3-7. I had 3 good follies on cd 14 so BD that night, I did the Ovidrel trigger on cd 15 at 7:00 pm. My dr did my first IUI on cd 16 at 9:00 am and a second IUI on cd 17 at 9:00 am (he did 2 to help our chances he said). I test this Friday (May 30) and I'm really praying for a BFP - we leave for the beach the next day and i REALLY don't want to take AF with me ;)
I've done 7 cycles of clomid and the dr isn't too keen on many more. He said he would 2 more months of IUI and then he would have to refer me to another dr. DH thinks if it doesn't happen in the next 3 months that its just not meant to be. We do have a 6 year old that was conceived using clomid but nothing else so that is his basis for that statement.
Elle, welcome to the nut house!!!
Lee Ann, you'll be PG by the time I'm done with the darn Lupron!!! ARGH - I am so jealous!!! :rolly: Sadly, depending on the doctor (I think different ones have a different definition by a year or two) I am also "Advanced Maternal Age" Isn't that AWFUL?!?!?! I'm 34, Doc!!!! Seriously. But, despite its many, many problems, my body does O pretty reliably, so they're shutting it down first. Are we there yet???? :pace:
Mia, you are BAAAAAAAD, sister!!!!! Correct, but bad nonetheless.

Thanks, girls. I'm glad to see there's so much positivity in here! It makes me much less afraid of the process. If 34 is now considered Advanced Maternal Age, then I'm Over The Hill. ACK!

Argh. Beta just got changed to 6/2 from 6/1, since they're not open on Sunday. Poop. I think I"m gonna have to HPT before that. I'm dying here.
Also, girls. I have a question: OK, maybe I'm a paranoid 2WWer, but I forgot to take my estradiol tablet this am (I take 1 in the am and 1 in the pm) and it's at home! I won't get home from work until 3:30 or so! Did I just mess everything up?! I'm 8dp3dt today. What to do?!
I called doc's office but haven't heard back yet.

Hey Mia, Gals, and Newbies
Oh my goodness,
Missing my med would have freaked me out too.
I'm on three suppositories of Endometium/progesterone a day.
So I do 6am, 2pm, and 10pm. I've set the alarms on my
Cell Phone and it has worked out great. I keep one set in my purse
for Emergencies (Which I had to use today! - thank heavens I had it!)
My side effects: I had AF type cramping, One morning I had a pain
shooting down my stomach, I felt nauseated/queasy - but that could have
been nerves. I had some pain in my groin/inguinal area one day - felt
like my underwear was too tight and cutting into nerves - but it wasn't my underwear. So far I have had no implantation bleeding. I started to get
constipated again around Day 12, I was even on Colace and Fibercon.
I POAS starting 10 days DPO (I wanted to make sure HCG was out of my
system) HCG trigger may stay in your system 10-14 days after shot.
Day 10 - $1 store: nothing
Day 11 - $1 store: nothing, EPT (+/- test): one dot
Day 12 - $1 store: nothing, ETP (+/- test): 3 dots, First Response: Light positive
Day 13 - $1 store: Lt. Positive (Poured my pee out before I tested did the other 2 tests.
Day 14 - $1 store: Lt. Positive, EPT (+/-) Positive, First Response: Dark Positive.
Day 15 - BETA 98.8
Day 17 Beta tomorrow.
I did find this from a Yahoo Group: Military IVF: from Walter Reed.
# Days Past O How Much HCG
10 DPO 10 - 50 mIU/ml HCG
13 DPO 20 - 100 mIU/ml HCG
16 DPO 40 - 200 mIU/ml HCG
19 DPO 80 - 400 mIU/ml HCG
22 DPO 160 - 800 mIU/ml HCG
Make sure you get the most sensitive tests b/c some tests you
you have to have 100 mIU/ml of HCG in your system before they
pop positive.
Some women may not pee a positive but have had a positive on their
Beta. Anything over 5 could mean you are pregnant, so some numbers
could be lower than the chart.
Praying for my double numbers tomorrow!
:babydust: & :stickyvibes: TO ALL THE GALs!

Good luck to everyone doing IUI this month. I think this thread is a great idea. Heather (28) DH (27) I just had my 1st IUI last Friday. I will be testing on the 6th of June. Unlike many of you I choose to do IUI because of a crazy life schedule. I work 5 12 hour shifts a week and I just wanted to try not stressing about how often to BD. This allowed DH and I to resume our normal fun BD life.
I just got my 2nd beta results...
15 DPO: beta 122
Looks like it's doubling every 1.58 days

Hi ladies! Great idea Lisa! I was supposed to do an IUI last month and this month, my body, however, is NOT cooperating! We have been TTC since January 2006. In August 2007 I had an ectopic pregnancy, which led to my left tube being blocked. So, before I can do an IUI, I have to have right-sided eggies. I am on 5mg of Femara. I do a mid-cycle sonogram on CD12, then I will trigger on the same day if my follie is big enough. THen have the IUI 36 hours later :)
I'm hoping next month will be my month! I'll be  for all of you and I look forward to hearing MANY success stories!!

Or do you have to start going to an OB/GYN?

Hi girls!
Sylvia - congrats on those terrific numbers! I'm so overjoyed for you!!!! Can't wait to hear what's next!
Robin - thx for the symptoms. Something good to obsess over :)
I had a little bit of cramping today and then some verrrrry light spotting this afternoon, which had me a little concerned. Of course I had to sob a bit to DH. I'm 8dp3dt today so it could be anything. DH and I did also BD last night (can you still say "B"D if you're on to IVF?). I'm hoping that caused the spotting.
Ugh! It's so frustrating to wait!
Thought I would post my symptoms... I had them listed in a different forum. Mia the cramping is normal and the spotting could be implantation!! :)
7DPO upset stomach, crazy hungry, very sleepy
8DPO starting to get a cold, crazy hungry, swollen lymph nodes and massive headache all day, very sleepy, cramping or tugging on left side of uterus
9DPO mild headache all day, sleepy, cramping on left side of uterus
10DPO feeling like AF was coming for sure, cramping on left side again, worse, no more headache, no more bloat.. gone
11DPO nothing really, just more cramping on left side
12DPO strong cramps on right side, mild on left... bloated.
13DPO today, feel like I am getting sick again, headache, swollen lymph nodes, bloated and more cramps on right side... once in a while on left. metallic "taste" or feeling in the back of my throat the entire days, like I could throw up any minute,Dizzy
14DPO cramping still... but not as bad, very tired, dizzy, and craving Beans... yes Beans, I love beans right now!!
15DPO cramping and bloated, and still love beans.

Hey Sylvia,
I bet that your bean craving is your body wanting Iron or Protein.
My Acupuncturist told me your body needs a lot of iron to prepare your body for pregnancy. Iron helps to build blood and transport oxygen. You can do the Iron thing by eating Red Meats (she wanted me to eat lots of liver), BEANS, spinach or kale, nuts too. Your body needs extra blood to create the new blood supply for the baby.
Makes a little sense.
Haa haa.. Beans! Beans! good for your heart, the more you eat them the more you fart!
If you have a history of anemia, you can take an iron supplement too.
You might want to get the A-ok first.
Haa haa.. Beans! Beans! good for your heart, the more you eat them the more you fart!
hehe, my DH was joking... about how he's going to sleep downstairs tonight to stay away from me. haha but i seriously an not having the gas problem just yet.
Thanks for the tips... I will try to eat more of the other things tomorrow. I'll find a list online of what is good and bad too.
The best thing about this, is that Chocolate makes me ill! I can't even smell it without it disgusting me. Usually I love it... but nope, just beans now.

How is everyone feeling?
Ia m gearing up for IUI #1. Trying to compile meds and advice for IUI 2. Seems weird to order meds when I haven't even had the natural cycle yet, but one does what one must, I guess.
Akw, all it takes is one spermie!!!! A sticky is when the post stays "stuck" at the top...no searching necessary!
Nicurn, I understand completely. This month's lovemaking is finally that again...not babydancing. I feel so liberated.
Lee Ellen and Jennifer, I have everything crossed for you.
Erin, I have a didelphic uterus, and one side is much better than the other, so I have an idea of what you are going through with one blocked tube.

Hi, I was just wondering, can't they unblock your left tube? I was on 5mg and got one follicle so for my next IUI Dr. already said he is raising it to 7mg
I think that they could try to do that, but usually if you have one functioning tube they don't recommend it, because it might work and it might not. The reason it is blocked is because of the scar tissue from my first surgery on it to remove the ectopic. So...at this point my doctor isn't considering it. Plus, it is probably expensive and I doubt my crappy insurance company would cover it. I would rather pay for IVF out of pocket than a chance on my tube I guess. Does that make sense?

I got my second Beta! 276.9.
My 1st Beta 2 days ago was 98.8.
So, it is doubling every 32.1 hours or every 1.3 days.
**Thanks for the calculator Sylvia.
I've been scheduled for my first u/s June 16th @ 12:30,
I'll be 7 weeks and there should be a heartbeat.
I did ask what my worries should be, RE's Asst. told me to call if I have

There is also the possibility of an ectopic pregnancy.
I hope no one swam back up the tubes!

Thank you for your prayers, Lisa.
Momofone is here to aid you!! For me, I had brownish/pinkish spotting for almost a week before my hcg so I thought there was no way in He## that I was pg, and in fact when they called me with the results of the beta I was in disbielf. The spotting continued for a while after my beta too. They kept a close on my progesterone-hope they are doing that for you. They felt it would be benefical to increase my progesterone. After that the spotting stopped. Finally I actually felt pg. Well, at 8 weeks I had a GUSH of blood and extreme cramping--went to the ER and actually passed baseball size clots--figured that was the end. Baby kept on hanging in there. They gave me a rhogam shot because I am rh- in case I m/ced. Well I spent the night in ER because I bled sooooo much. The next morning they did another u/s and all was fine. Sent me home-bed rest for 2 weeks. The next day I got up to pee and gush again. Back to ER again-thought it was over this time for sure. Nope she was still fine. What my IVF clinic didn't tell me was it is common for IVF women to bleed because they have built our Endo Lining up so much for prep of the IVF. Also, it seems to be more common for IVF gals to have subchorionic hemmorages as well-which is what I had. I just posted to a gal in general expecting regarding the SH--so check that out if you want to know more about that. I don't know if I have helped, but just know that it is truely ppossible you are still pg. Take it easy--bedrest if you can-NO intercouse-NO tampons. Make sure they are checking your progesterone level-if not demand it to be checked. And lastly, feel free to pm me with ANY questions-I would be happy to answer any!!!!

Wow. Lisa, thank you for sending out the signal to Heather!
Heather, thank you so much for this information. I think I will call the dr's office today and tell them about the spotting. My RE's office doesn't do a progesterone check, but maybe that's what's in order. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Mia, i would definitely have them, check your levels...
I actually start feeling 'weird' by the end of my work day... I know it's because my progesterone levels a probably lower. It could be something else... But the first thing I do is put the progesterone capsule in and lie down for a while.
just keep in mind there is so much going on in our bodies leading up to transfer, that it could be anything. Don't lose hope, it's still really early.

That is just crazy they don't check!!! I was doing the injections and when I needed more, they had me do a suppository as well. YES, YES, YES call them and demand they check it. We pay all this money to have this done I think we should be able to have some say in what is going on. Many gals here have proved how important the progesterone is-especially when doing IVF!!!! Well, I don't know what to think. I called the RE's nurse hotline and left a message. Told them what was up and asked for progesterone check. Got a call back (phone was off- I was teaching) and the nurse that left the message said, "If it's just spotting, continue to take your meds and we'll see you for your beta on 6/2. If it turns into a period call and we'll have you come in earlier for the pregnancy test."
No mention of the progesterone. No effort to make me feel like it could be nothing. No nothing.
Normally, I'm happy w/their care, but I don't know what to think right now.
I put in a suppository right when I got home. I'm just going to take a little more at this point because waiting for them to do something is just going to be too late if anything can be helped. I'm only on 2 suppositories/day right now as it is. I'll take a test in the am and if I see a line, I'll call back and talk to the one nurse I know and see if she'll oblige the progesterone check.
Ugh. this blows.
So, I have a question, for those of you who've had IVF and a BFN, did AF show before your beta? I guess if this is AF, I'll know soon.
Thanks for your prayers, girls.

Hey Mia,
First off, We are humbled to be a group of women
who can hold you up, educate, and love you.
My first BFN 2006, I was not required to take a second BETA.
I cycled in Washington, DC but lived in NC.
I took my Beta locally, and had results from someone who had
no idea what I had been through.
My first Beta was negative, but I never asked what my numbers where.
I stopped progesterone and didn't have a period until a month later.
A girl from our group got a BFN on Tuesday and stopped her progesterone
suppositories the same day before her 2nd Beta (was not suppose to stop) and had already started her period today.
Our RE makes you take 2 Betas b/c there is a 1% chance that you are
really BFP.
I have heard of cycles being cancelled b/c of AF.
I'm sorry I can't help you more.
Lay back, relax and keep us posted.
Mia,
My friend had spotting around the time she was waiting to find out, and she did turn out to be pregnant... and the baby is now one year old. She even made a point to tell me not to worry too much if I spot because some women have bodies that do this.
Also, if they are going to make you wait... you may want to see if you can go to your regular doctor or walk in to see if they will do the progesterone test, or demand it from the R.E... tell them you will pay for it, etc... If this makes you have peace of mind, you should do it, and they should comply.
We all pay these clinics for their services and they need to give in to the patients requests. I just think they need to be more understanding of what you are going through.
Also, you should be fine with shortening the time in between when you put the progesterone in... I'm not a doctor, but I think your body just doesn't use the excess. I'm at about every 12 hours, but if I needed to I would do it every eight. But that's just me... since it takes time to absorb. usually when I put them in, I always have more in there than I think is being used. I don't know how much is absorbed from the chalky material, but it seems to hang out for a long time after I put it in. You may want to tell them if this is what you are planning to do and see if they say anything like you shouldn't or just give in and let you come in for the darn test. Pisses me off when the clinics ignore the patients concerns... it makes me seriously angry.
Anyway... please stay positive... We're here for you!! i am sending you all kinds of sticky embryo dust and prayers!!

Dana...I agree with Sylvia, if your RE will not do it go have it done at your OB's office or a hospital lab.
Do you have any HPT at home?? I would be tempted to take one. My best friend had the same issue with spotting and IVF and ended up having twins.

How are my girls this morning?
I am trying so hard to stay grounded. I know that statistically, an IUI working on the first shot, let alone nautural IUI on the first shot, is a long shot.
So I am trying not to get too excited, because the higher you are, the more it hurts when you fall. But--I want to think positively. It sure is a tough balance, isn't it?
Mia, lay low and take care of yourself as long as you need to. Know that you'll receive loads of hugs, prayers, support and love from here - while you're gone, and when you come back. And when you do come back, we will stick around with you until it's time to escort you right on out of here. As you told me once, that's the time when YOUR little bugger is ready and waiting for you. :comfort: Keep us updated when you're ready, and PM anytime if you need to talk.

Hi Girls, I have been so busy lately that I have not been able to check in. I am having my IUI this morning at 11 am. I am so excited.
I am on 5mg of Femara. I do a mid-cycle sonogram on CD12, then I will trigger on the same day if my follie is big enough. THen have the IUI 36 hours later :)
Ditto for me.
LE I am so sorry to hear that it didn't work for you this time. Take some time to regroup and relax.

My first IUI was on the 21st. I had a cd3 u/s and a cd 13 u/s. I'm on Clomid 50mg cd3-7 and did a trigger shot on cd13. Dh's count was better this cycle than his past two s/a's so we were excited about that. Don't have a plan for next cycle just praying this one works!!! Good luck ladies! Hey Girls,
With the sad news about Mia, I thought I would start
a new topic.
How are ways you have dealt with failed cycles?
IVF or IUI or any other ART procedures out there.
Also what are your favorite nasty comments that have been said to you.
These are the comments that you can only share with us.
After my failed cycle, I should have stayed home with my husband but
I flew to Kansas and stayed with a girlfriend of mine. I love her kids and
they are older so that didn't both me. I felt I needed to "get away".
I realized before I started this cycle that I never properly grieved and
I was still holding emotions inside. I had many tears before I started this cycle.
I was thinking about going to talk to someone but My husband had I had a few sit downs and he was wonderful.
Plus some comments from certain people didn't help.
"Well maybe you should have lost weight (I gained 30 pounds w/ my first cycle I was 165 when I started, I'm 5'8)", "maybe you should have taken better care of yourself","maybe you should have eaten better" and My favorite "maybe it will happen naturally, you know it only takes one"(we are Male Factor! husband's sperm count is 0). This is why we have kept this cycle a secret from friends and family, we figured we would secretly go into a 3rd cycle if this one failed and just tell friends we were waiting on more labs, tests, etc.
I think if friends/people want to make a comment to us about what they think would work, they should give us $100 into the comment jar.
At least it would help pay for our cycles & meds.

Hi Girls-
Robin, thanks for the thoughts.
AF arrived this am. Bigtime. It was tough b/c I had to get up and teach an 8am and a 9:30 yoga class, when all I wanted to do was stay in bed and sulk. That's pretty much what I've been doing. Yesterday, after more spotting and a BFN in the morning, I came home from work and DH just sat w/me as I cried. Today, I got home and I've just been laying around. DH brought me flowers, which made me teary (what doesn't right now?)
I haven't had the courage to call my mom and tell her yet. Not looking forward to losing it again. Well, that's how I've been dealing. Nothing pretty, but maybe, like you say, robin, we need to grieve before we can properly move on.
Love to all of you!
lsolt
05-31-2008, 02:10 PM
:crying: Dana I am sorry that AF showed her ugly face. I would take some time for yourself, even before you call your Mom. When I m/c at 10 wks I only told my youngest sis b/c if was too difficult to tell eveyone over and over...she eventually told the family for me. I hope your grief is short and you have a blessing on the way shortly!! :hugs:

Mia, Remember you are not alone!
**HUGE HUGS TO YOU**
Your DH can call your mom and he can screen your calls for awhile.
He can let them know "She will call you when she needs (or is ready) to talk"
He can also send out a mass e-mail to the ones who knew about the cycle. With a
please don't call message. (depending on your personality of course - I didn't want to write the message, or talk to people I didn't have the strength). I wasn't prepared for some of the comments that people made to me - They didn't think they were being mean but it did come off as being very unthoughtful.
I had no one to talk to. I had even stopped talking to my internet group because I felt
I had let them down. We are here for you.
No offense to those of you who have kids, (But we are all ART people in here - so I'm sure you understand).
But I would tear up when I saw a pregnant woman or I saw a new baby, why was it so easy for them?
That then turned into anger and for two years, I didn't care for other people's kids.
They annoyed me and I couldn't stand them.
Plus my mother would love to talk about my brother's baby that was so great and so cute and AAARRRGgggg, Dh was even bothered by the insensitivity of it.
We waited 2 years to cycle again and I felt more prepared this time.
DH and I discussed how I thought I was ready to do two cycles back to back
if this time didn't work out.
I had read a lot more on the IVF process, and I joined
a local Resolve support group. Those women were wonderful!!
www.resolve.org, there may be a local support group in your area
you girls will laugh together, you will cry together and you will make some good friends.
They will talk and have guest speakers about IUI, IVF, Adoption, Embryo Donation, Sperm donation and/or living childless. Sometimes our meetings would go over 2 hours because we would just vent.
There is a beautiful video out on the internet that would be good as an
attachement to your mass email. I'll look for it.
Again :hugs:
Remember we are Sisters

Robin,
First off, thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing that video. It made me BALL (don't need much of an excuse lately, though) but it said a lot of things that I had been feeling but had never articulated. thank you.
Girls-
So, as it turns out, I had a chemical pregnancy. I'm a bit in shock still (got the call this afternoon) and I'm not quite sure how to feel. In some ways, it is hopeful that our embie(s) did grow, and did attach, but I also wonder what happened....was my progesterone too low? could this have been prevented if they monitored my progesterone? What does this mean for next time? Or, on the flip side, is it our embie quality? We had a m/c from TTC the old fashioned way back in November. I wonder if our embies are just too weak? Maybe we're just waiting on that one superstar spermie.
I have to go tomorrow for more blood work to see my HCG level below 2. Hopefully it's down tomorrow.
We have a follow-up w/the RE on Monday. Please let me know if you have any advice on what to ask/how to ask it. I really want to address the progesterone issue but I don't want to come off as insulting...gotta keep the RE on my side, right?
In the meanwhile, I hope you're all doing well. Megan and Robin, I pray that your levels are skyrocketing!
XOXO
Dana (Mia is my cat's name, but I love that y'all call me that :) -- Bella is my dog)
Dana, I don't know what to say...Whether to offer you hugs, hope, condolences, prayers...all of the above? I think it makes loads of sense to inquire about the potential for p level to have been a factor...doesn't seem confrontational to me, at all. Given your previous m/c, can you inquire about a panel, also? If there's something there they should help you find it and give you the best shot for a sticky bean. KUP on the levels? I hope and pray you get armed with new info so we can waltz on out of here together soon, girl. HUGS!!!

Glad you joined us, Icurn! You're just a bit ahead of me from a timing perspective, so I'll be the one asking all the annoying questions to prepare for my next stage....So how's the lupron going? Not sure I'm looking forward to it, but less than 10d away from it. :hooray:

Thanks for the welcomes! The Lupron actually hasn't been too bad. I have been having some "hot flashes" and a "little" emotional but I think this is an emotional time no matter what! I didn't have a mock transfer either so no advice here but if I can help in any other way..don't hesitate to ask! Best of luck!
That cracked me up DZ!! Major shaking to all of us. :loveshower::loveshower::loveshower:
Mia, anything new? Still sending prayers your way, sweetie...
Icurn, if by a "little" emotional you mean standing in your closet BAWLING over what to wear, uh, yeah, I'm with you. :shame: I should put in a disclaimer 1) That is NOT me normally. I'm a flip-flops and jeans girl. 2) It was while on a BOATLOAD of hormones. 3) I was trying to pick out an outfit for a christening. Of twins. A week after my septum removal. So all of these IVF meds should be super fun, I'm sure! ANYWAY...
The mock transfer was a piece of cake. Got to watch it on the ultrasound, which was very cool. Better yet, I'm told it went "perfectly." That, ladies, was a novelty. I've spent the last year wondering where to send in this bum uterus for a refund, and this guy uses the "p" word? Please, the only time I've heard THAT in this process is about DH's super :happysperm: So it was a good day. After all this waiting I am so excited to be moving. In fact, tentativey ER on 7/2, ET on 7/5 or 7/7 depending - woo hoo!!! :hooray: Our goal will be a single 5day blastocyst. But I'm getting ahead of myself, so must be time to call it a day...TTFN!

DOZ & Icurn,
Hi! and Welcome to the group.
DOZ, good luck with your wait.
Icurn - good luck with the meds.
Mal, I know you have probably already had the transfer by now but it is just like a PAP, easy breezy. They stick a thin catheter through your cervix into your uterus and measure how deep your uterus goes and where would be the best place to stick the embies.
Good Luck Ladies

(waves of dizziness, nausea, headaches, slight cramping/pulling) No real af cramps and the cramps I do have are mostly in the middle - I usually get focused cramps on one side or the other when af is coming. Af was supposed to get here yesterday, no sign of the old hag yet, but being realistic I did have a BFN yesterday so she could be coming. Ahhh the wait!

Ahhhh, Jess! I am going crazy FOR you! I can't even imagine how you are feeling! I'm sorry about the BFN and I'm hoping it was just too early!

Urgg..
I can't believe it has only been 1 week since my second beta. I think I may be spending way too much time on this website. :silly:
Okay, So my Dr. only does 2 Betas and won't do any more unless there is spotting or severe cramping. So I HAVE to wait for my ultrasound. urrrggg..
I told them that if RE changes his mind about how many Betas he does than feel free to call me ASAP.

Mal, when I was on Lupron it wasn't so bad, but I was appalled when I was getting towards the end of stims and my fat pants fit...snugly! Ugh! It was mostly just bloat (combined w/a bit more inactivity than normal) but ain't that just the crappiest feeling?
Robin, GRRRRR!!!!! I know how much you want peace of mind right now. I like your quote about calling you if the RE changes his mind! Very cute! You have nothing to worry about and SOON you'll get to see and hear your little bean. Yay! ONly 11 days to go!

Welcome DZ!!!
Malf... I totally understand with the outfits!!! when I started the Lupron injections I had exactly the same problem. I changed atleast three or four times before work everyday! hehe something about those Lupron injections that either makes us super picky!! It's less than a month before your ER!!! :) so exicting!!
Oh.. and I just got my third Beta results back today! 1962!! yippee!!
Beta results:
1. 5/26 = 51
2. 5/28 = 122
3. 6/2 = 1962
now doubling every 1.24 days!!!!!! :)
Sylvia, I just noticed that you had ivf + icsi and were successful. Congratulations!!!
How many days prior to your next cycle did they do the transfer? I was looking at my calendar and noticed that my transfer was Monday. AF is expected to show up tomorrow. I am getting a little nervous. Was it too late? Is it normal to do a transfer so close to when the cycle is supposed to start? Or am I being a little paranoid?
DZ - You know.. I never really thought about that! I tracked my cycle but sort of gave up on tracking when I knew we were going to start IVF. I don't think it matters. You're IVF cycle is so medicated and your hormones are pretty much being monitored and tweeked through out the cycle. After all we get our AF twice, First on own own to start the cycle, and then when on the Lupron and birth control.
I wouldn't worry about it... :) I think you're fine.

I didn't do Lupron or birth control. Just 6 vials of Bravelle and 2 vials of Menopur since cycle day 3 and ganirelix in the mornings the last week before the retrieval last friday.
I just want tomorrow to come and go with no problems. :ohno:
Oh... some how I thought you did Lupron. But in any case you're covered with the hormones... I wouldn't worry about it. The R.E.'s have perfected the hormone cocktails!
You will be fine, and tomorrow will be great... I was so nervous before my transfer, but everything turned out well. I tried to stay focused on other things, but it was very hard.
Anyway, I will be thinking about you and praying that everything goes well for you tomorrow!

OH GREAT!!! I'm coming up on 3 years STC, and let's just say I've self-medicated during some of the more depressing moments...with margaritas, chips and salsa...I AM ALREADY IN MY FAT PATS!!!!!!!!!! :P D@mn, there may be two ruthless weeks on South Beach in my future before these pills run out. I REFUSE to buy a larger size unless it's for a really good :bellyrubs: reason!!!

DZ, with or without lupron, I agree with Sylvia. Things are soooooo medicated that anything resembling a normal cycle is out the window. Nonetheless, will pray that tomorrow comes and goes with no problems. :silly:

Went again today....not sure they had the catheter in right, though. I really hope she went in the correct cervix (I know TMI for those of you who didn't know I was the double uterus girl).
of course NOW i have EWCM. Today. And TODAY the OPK is positive. (though I know it could be trigger shot).
DH and are going to BD like crazy to cover it. And let's hear it for DH--35 million day 2 post wash.
A very dear person gave me their leftover follistim, when the doctor said that was what I needed. I hope this brings me luck....I am amazed at the generosity of people. My eternal gratitude.

I caved and POAS this morning and got a BFN...nothing is worse than seeing 'not pregnant' flashed across the screen. I didn't use FMU since I had peed twice before 7am so if af doesn't show in a few days I'll test again. I'm 14dpiui today and don't really feel like af is coming but most times a BFN brings her on.
Good luck to you all!
Jess
When I did IVF, I tested and got a BFN, I was in tears for 2 days. I went the RE later only to get a BFP with the blood work. So hang in there !
Im off to Mexico tomorrow. I packed tampons and 2 pregnancys tests. Should be interesting :eyebrow:

Spotted for a half a second yesterday evening (not even enough to get on a pad...sorry TMI)...nothing since then. Tested again this morning and another BFN. I'm going to call my doc today to see what we should do next. Dh and I changed our minds and will only be trying for one more cycle before starting the adoption process. I've let this consume me and that's not healthy. I may not be on here for a while...I need to clear my head. Thanks to you all!
Good luck to you all!

Thank you ladies. I went to the drs this morning and the nurse said the same thing. DON"T WORRY. That seems so easy to say, but I'll do it. Thank you again. How many days is it before next Friday?:eyeroll:

I'm okay. Just waiting for next Friday. I've also feel very sleepy lately. I wonder if it's the progesterone. You know it's bad when you're at your desk and you start snoring :sleep:
