HI Jenn397, welcome.
Ladies the results are in for SA,
128 count...wow! but here are the issues
39% motility
3% morphology
so, i feel great that we may have our answer with this, i was giving him the target he just wasn't hitting it. I am scheduled for the IUI next Friday. Do you think we have a chance with the morph being at 3%? the RE says since his count is so high we can find enough good ones to work with. Would love any advice/experienc.

Hi all. I was actually came across your post while I was trying to get some info for my sister on blighted ovums. Anyways I became enthralled by your stories. I am a past clomid user and while I do not have time to go into every detail by reading your posts I am wondering if those of you who have PCOS know whether you have the insulin resistant form of PCOS. I have the insulin resistant form and what was found to work best for me to ovualte and conceive was taking clomid along with metformin (glucophage). If anyone would like more info on this I will check back in here later.
Jenn
Hi Jenn, I have insulin resistance (last test showed I was glucose impaired) mine is due to PCOS. I'm on clomid .. I've done 17 cycles since 2001.. So far this year I have had 5 cycles at 100mg days 5-9, I found out this past cycle after a Chemical pregnancy that I had a hypo-thyroid and that my glucose was impaired.. I already knew the last one.. I had been trying to get them to put me on Metformin for the last 5 months.. but after I went over the test results with one of the doctors who was on staff at the time.. I asked him about Metformin.. and he told me that if I'm not pregnant by my next appt. that should be my next step. Is metformin with my clomid. But the thing is .. he's not my doctor.. so I have to get my doctor to think like that doctor.. I'm also on Syntyroid for my thyroid issue. I would love to know more about your experience with the two.
Thanks so much Jenn.. It's always helpful to hear others experiences.

Carol, I think you will be fine with an IUI. You may also want to start your DH on some supplements as well.. it take a couple of months to make a diference but it will help a lot.. Good Luck and let us know how the IUI goes.

hey where has everyone been? let's all catch up, where is everyone at in their cycles? 2ww? CD1?
here is my update. I have my appt Wednesday to measure follies and decide when to take my trigger and schedule the IUI. everyone please say a prayer to make this Saturday instead of Friday. of all the days this could happen, Friday is the worst for both me and DH...work obligations that can't be changed. I am excited about this month, i really think this is the answer, even though it isn't the way i pictured conceiving my first baby. but we are going to use the condoms to make it a little more special - hey as you all know you do what you gotta do and keep your eye on the prize.
tell me how y'all are doin'.

I'm new to this forum. I just started taking Clomid a few days ago. I'm on CD 6. I have one more day of Clomid and another 6 days of dex. I can tell the Clomid is working because I have some cramping and have actually seen CM! (You know how long it's been since I've seen any of that?!) However, it's making me terribly hungry, sick at my stomach, and one other thing.
TMI: Does it make anyone else's urine a little cloudy? I wouldn't have noticed it, but I had to pee in a cup for my OPK test (Yes, I know I don't need to do an OPK yet, but I'm doing one EVERYDAY until I O so I don't miss it.) Anyway, I dipped the stick in and it just looked funny. Clomid?

Okay, I'm posting in here hoping someone will see this. I guess no one saw it in regular ole' ttc....or at least no one had any info to give me.
Did anyone else have mid cycle bleeding with clomid? I took my last dose of clomid yesterday and today I was spotting a little. I did bd yesterday morning and this morning, but its never caused spotting or anything before. I was just curious if anyone else had ever experienced this.
paula0471
09-02-2007, 10:47 PM
Tara, are you still spotting? What color is the spotting? As long as I've been taking Clomid.. I've never had spotting this early before.. in my 2ww yes.. but not before "O". What days did you take the clomid? 3-7 or 5-9?
You may want to call your ob and run it by them if you are still spotting. Also sometimes during sex your cervix can become irritated and may be bleed.
I'll see if I can find anything out about it on the net.
As far as Cloudy urine.. I have noticed sometimes mine is cloudy.. If I remember correctly that can may be protien. Idon't know if Clomid can cause cloudy urine or not.
Kristen, How are you doing girl!?!? I'm on 5 dpo and will test on Sept. 12th.

after you have taken clomid do you have symptoms? I took clomid for the first time last cycle and everything seemed fine. I had only one emotional day where I cried about something that I can't even remember now. I did not have any bloating, but I did feel extremely tired.
I just started my cycle today and I am supposed to get in touch with my re and start a second round of clomid.
Last week I was an absolute beast!! I was arguing fussing and fighting like a mad woman even up until sunday evening when I just threw a plate a food on the floor. I mean I was so angry that I wanted to hit someone I mean really have a physical fight!!!
Was this pms or was this the result of the clomid? Could the chemicals still be in my system? and if this was the clomid what in the world is going to happen if I start taking them again.
Please someone tell me that I am not going crazy I just don't know what to do

You are not going crazy.. It doesn't happen every month.. but because of the high hormones from Clomid.. it can and will affect you.. Personally I'm more moody in my 2ww .. the closer to AF sometimes the worse it is. Hopefully next month will be better for you. Did you have 7dpo progesterone test done? If what what were your #'s?
Do you have a chart.. I would love to see what type of "O" you had this past cycle on Clomid.
Some months on Clomid I even have pregnancy symptoms. This is because of the elevated progesterone levels from a strong "O" on Clomid.
DaughterofZion
09-04-2007, 02:15 PM
no I did not have the progesterone test, and I am still new at this and have not started charting.
I have looked at different charts and all of it seems so confusing. When I finished the clomid last month my re instructed me to buy cbe opk....well long story short I missed my ovulation. I couldn't figure out how to read the thing.
You would think line or no line easy right? Not so much for me....so I called my re's office and I went in and they took blood which showed that I had ovulated which meant that we could not do the iui and I would have to wait to the next cycle.
but good god if you only knew how I felt last week and even at this moment. I feel really psycho. and I don't like it. I am on the verge of crying right now and I have no good reason, but I just feel this way......

hey there,
i wanted to respond to your post and let you know i feel your pain. I have been on 4 cycles and if the IUI didn't work, i think i am off clomid for awhile. it does change your moods, the hot flashes and i have bloated up to where none of my clothes fit anymore. but i found one way of working throught the mood swings is just recognizing it is the clomid and not really me. breathe deep and know this is what you need to do to have a baby. it gives you control back and i have been much better this last cycle...but i also knew my DH threaten to cut me off the baby drugs too!
hang in there,

I just finished my first round of Clomid and I have been a crazy woman! MOOD SWINGS! However, I think most of mine is from the steroid/hormone my doctor prescribed me to take with my clomid. I'm still on it and still moody....I think the steroid and the clomid together made me even worse, though. I guess any med that messes with your hormones can make you emotional/irritable/angry, etc.
The steroid is making me SOOOO hungry too! Like, starving to death, hungry. NOT cravings....I mean, my stomach is literally growling within an hour of eating a good meal. I better get pregnant quick....my waist line can't take much more of this. Not that I'll have a waist line when I get preggers, but you know what i mean!

Hey Paula,
I have a question. This has never happened before. I don't know what to make of it. I went into the RE last Friday and I had three follies (15,13,8) with an E2 of 120. They told me to come back in on Sunday for another scan and E2. On Sunday they did a scan and E2 and the scan showed follies (19.9, 9 and free fluid). I asked the tech what does free fluid mean and she said that means that I am ovulating or about to ovulate. This was funny because on Friday I had 3 follies and Sunday I had two. So I think I ovulated on Saturday. I was told to use the HCG trigger that night at 7pm. So my E2 went from 120 to 86. This means I 'O'd already. But how can I release another egg with the trigger if I already released one on my own. I am so confused but I have been BDing every day since Sunday. Hopefully I will catch one of them.
Any advice...Please help I'm going crazy.
Kimmie

Sholanda the trigger will mature teh other 2 and release them as well as the one you released on your own.
Alana2007

Thanks Kimmie
I didn't know that was possible so this means I released the other one this morning. I hope one of them sticks. I started using the preseed and I canceled the IUI because of the cost. She wanted me to do IUI on Monday and Today. Could not afford that.
How is your cycle going Kimmie?

Your next cycle of Clomid I have have them do a mid luteal phase progesterone test. This will let you know if you are truly ovulating.
Which OPK's are you using? I am so sorry you missed ovulation!
Well, with the fact you are hormonal from the clomid and the fact that you missed your "O".. I know that help set the bad mood as well.
Well, just find a place to be by yourself and let it out.. have a really good cry.. Maybe you will feel better.. I'll be praying this next cycle goes better for you.
Fertilityfriend.com or Babymed.com both have really good online charts.. We all can help you with any charting and temping questions. Also OPK quetions..
I use the Answer 20 pk OPK's

Bad news Paula,
I went in for my P4 yesterday and it was only 3.4 meaning I didn't 'o' but I know I did because I had three follies and when I did the u/s it was only two and my lining was 19mm and the other follie was 19.9mm so they had me do the HCG. What happened I don't know. The RE is wanting to go straight to all injectables and I am scared and I think I don't want to try anymore right now. I had a nerves breakdown last night. I balled up on the floor and just cried...cried about everything. I told my DH I am tired of all those appt, u/s and bw. I just want another baby so badly. I miss my DD so much and I cried about that. I was a mess. I don't know what to do....I need any advice. I will be starting Metformin XR tonight. I wonder if 100mg of clomid on CD5-9 will work for me?
Help please I'm losing my mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Baby alert!!!!! baby needed.
Sorry for rambling
Cycle 1
Clomid 50mg CD5-9 with hcg trigger
"o" CD 20 BFN
Cycle 2
Clomid 50mg CD 3-7 with gonal f 150iu on CD 9 and hcg trigger
"o" too early on CD 17 with an E2 of 120 (follie not mature)
Thanks Shalonda
Kimmie

Yes Kimmie,
I'm so depressed now i don;t even want to go through another cycle. I am losing hope. I don't know what messed up my cycle this month. Was it the combo of gonal f and clomid? Should i just go for the all injectables or should I push for another cycle of clomid at 100mg?
I am so confused.....
paula0471
09-11-2007, 10:25 PM
I am so sorry Shalonda! I agree with Kimmie.. I'm so sorry it didn't work out this month.. I really don't think it was the combo of the two.. I do think that 50mg of clomid is probably not strong enough for you. It wouldn't hurt for them to switch you completely to injectable, if you are not responding well to clomid.. But I wonder why they didn't try you on a stronger dose of clomid and a trigger shot?
Don't give up hope it will happen. Go ahead and vent and grieve for now..It's ok.. We all have to do it each month.. in order to move on. If you need to talk.. You can always pm me.

I'm jumping in late... but... I'm on my second month of Clomid (50mg). My doctor said it worked and I'm now ovulating. I've had SEVERAL girlfriends take Clomid and they refer to it as the "evil drug". I didn't know what they were talking about because my first cycle I was fine, then AF came and boy was I a mess. Then this day on the last day of taking Clomid I was a freaking mess. Also right around o day I felt like my ovaries (both sides) were going to rupture. My girlfriend said that was normal...... she is on injections now and said that even though she hates needles, it's much better than Clomid... I guess we have to take the "bad" to get the goods!

Second-what do i do as far as "you-know-what"(i dont know what you can say here) my dr said every day or every other day after the clomid. When will i ovulate with this stuff? I am so confused.:dunno: any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. THanks!!

hi misty! did you find the thread with the abbreviations yet?
as for clomid - people O at different times on it - if you temp, that's the best way to see when you O. i still O on the late side even on clomid - anywhere from cycle day 16-18. there is still a chance that you won't O on clomid if you don't O on your own now - you'll need to get a progestrone blood draw to confirm.
as for when to "you know what" (we call it BD on here (baby dance)) it really depends on sperm count and what you are comfortable with. every other day is what a lot of drs say - others say as many times as you can around O day.
hope that helps!
mistyms

Thank you sooo much. I do already O on my own but the eggs dont seem to be mature enough. so hopefully the clomid will help! Thanks! BD that is so cute, i wouldnt have thought of that. thanks again!

Hi Susie,
I am also starting my 1st round of Clomid this month (50 mg CD 5-9). Dr. told us to BD on days 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18. Never heard of the OV watch. Sorry.

Hi Leigh:
Never charted, not sure why either. Basically relied on OPK. They want to do a u/s on monday to see how my follies are looking. Surprised to have no side effects with the clomid thus far. Hope you are feeling well too!

Hi Danielle,
Until this month I had been relying solely on OPKs too. I'm going to start temping this month. Last month was my first month out of 6 to not get a postive by day 36- which is why I'd like to start charting. Were you getting postives with the OPKs?
I had about one minute of nausea this morning, but it passed quickly and haven't felt anything unusual sense.
I'm crossing my fingers that it will stay that way.

Hi Susie-
I'm on my fourth month of using the OV Watch. I did the "get pregnant in 3 months or 3 months free deal".. .unfortunately I had to take them up on the free 3 month deal :yuk:
I also tested it against my CBEFM and the were off by one day... so I felt pretty good about the fact they are consistent.
Paula, Amy and Kimmie-
You all seem very knowledgable regarding clomid and prometrium with progesterone tests....
Thoughts on my results?
June 07- progesterone came back at a 7.4, got a BFP, but lost the baby at 10 weeks (based on what I've read already in this thread it was probably an immature egg).
Nov 07 progesterone came back at a 2 (anovulation) was put on 50mg of Clomid
Jan 07 progesterone came back at 16.43
Feb 07 progesterone came back at 54
I was stoked about the 54 but I got a BFN on 2/29/08!!!
I'm also on 200mg of prometrium....
I'm on CD5 on my 3rd round of clomid and I'm trying to keep my spirits up... I was just wondering what you thought.....

Ben's Mom~
Well, I'd say with the progesterone results you got last month...I would have been stoked, too! :winks:
My guess is it means you ovulated well, and the prometrium is doing it's job.
I'd say let's hope 3rd times a charm for you! :luck:

Hi, this is the first time doing this blog thing. I have PCOS and am on my 2nd month of Clomid. I "O" last month at a 12.6 and I thought that was good but reading through these I found that maybe it is not as good as it should be. I start bding on Friday and would like some advice as I did not get preg last month.
Thanks,

Are you charting? How many mg of Clomid and on what days?

I am not sure what you mean by Charting but I have a calender and have a 35 day plan on when I take my Clomid and I am on day 11, right now. I am taking 50 mg of clomid, but when I called the doctor to find out my 12.6 number they did not say anything about moving my dosage or anything.. wierd.
Thanks for the invite, watch out for the hot flashes.

Amandagirl,
A lot of us on here use fertilityfriend.com to chart our temperatures and a variety of other things. It is completely up to you as to whether you want to start doing these things or not. It would help you know whether or not you ovulated.
Our doctor told us to BD on CD10, 12, 14, and 16. You should be getting somewhat close to O, so BD away.
Thanks for the hot flashes warning. That's one I haven't heard before. I'm feeling better today. No symptoms so far.

Thanks, I have tried the tempature thing before and my doctor told me not to do it anymore as it is not always accurate. I sometimes have been using the O strips to see if I am or not but I found out that when it says yes that means that you are going to O, not that you are. I hope I get prego this month but all the stuff I have been reading it kind of gets me down. I found out that if you do everything right and BD when you O that you still only have a 20% chance of getting preg...... kind of sad. I hope you are feeling good today.

Hi Amanda, I would make sure your doctor continues to do MLP Test (Progesterone at 7dpo) This will show how well you are doing on the Clomid. He will most likely leave you on the dose you are on for three months. I feel you will most likely have to have your dose upped to get a stronger O. On the progesterone levels for a medicated cycle with clomid your levels should 15 or higher and for a NON-medicated cycle 10 or over. So you can see you fall a little bit shy of what your levels should be.
ALso some doctors feel that charting is not always accurate.. but that's because if you do it wrong it's not! I've been doing this for many years and do chart with temps, cm and opk's. It has been very accurate for me and many other ladies here..
A lot of doctors now days just ask their patients to do OPK's.. You will get a surge and about 12-36 after your surge you should release.. most women about 24 hours later.. So it's a good indicator.. Once you know when you O on the clomid.. at least the next month.. you can better plan your fertile window on the clomid.
YOu are right not all women release after they get a surge.. But if you do not release you will have a MLP of a very low amount.. 5 or less. Anything 5-10 is a very weak O.
Good Luck.. Hope your journey with clomid is short and you get pregnant right away!
HOpe this helped some :)
Good Luck to Babyhopes and Photogrl as well!!!!

Hi, Everyone
My name is Rebecca and I have been reading everyone's posts, it is so great that people across the country can speak to eachother. It took me awhile to write a post becasue i was trying to find the right board to post. So after reading everyones post i decided that this was a great board to post and speak to others that are taking clomid.
Well here is my story, I am 22 yrs old and I have been married for 3 yrs in May. I also have a 3yr old healty boy named Diego.
In 2005 when I got pregnant with my son I was diagnosed with gastional diabetes. Some time after I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I have been on metaformin for as long as I remember after I Had my son in Feb 2005. I having been TTC for about more than a 1 1/2, I think.
On Jan 20, 08 I started clomid on day 3 of my period till day 5. I have been BD everyother day, just exactly what my doc said. This is my first time on clomid and I hate the fact that it makes you think that you are pg and it is disappointing when you know it is from the pill. The doc says all my tests are ok and my overies are not resistant, so the pill will work. When? I don't know but hopefully soon. I just wanted to say good luck to everyone and hope that you dreams of being a mother come true. I will be here to support you in anything that you need, and i hope that everyone the board will support me througth this journey to motherhood.
Good luck,
Rebecca

Hi Ladies
*long time no posts*
i am back and here to stay but not for too long i hope.
I wanted to tell you i am cd 29 when i usualy get AF on cd 28. Yay-not really I know Clomid plays havoc with cycles. AlSO. i got very yucky bladder -hopefully not kidney-infection and i hope if i am BFP than maybe this will not hurt little fetus,if it is infact there. Does anyone know? I told the doctor.
I would really like to POAS but i got burned too many times spending $$ on them and then being BFN and crying about it. And i even more against POAS, when i have had BFP and dh got too excited and told EVERYONE and then mc or chem preg.Id rather wait til the dr does blood HCg and i know positively for sure.
Good Luck to everyone here! I hope you all will be on the due date boards instead of clomid very soon!!!

I know your hesitation. We've had three suspected chemical pregancies. DH and I agreed that we will tell our immediate family after our first ultrasound (my mom will probably find out after the blood test) and everyone else can know after the first trimester.
It's an emotional rollercoaster. Hang in there.

Hi Rebecca-
These are common abbreviations used in these forums. There is a sticky in the TTC forum that will break down the abbreviations for you.
CD= cycle day
AF= aunt flow
BFN= Big Fat Negative
BFP= Big Fat Positive
I hope this helps and welcome!!

Thanks Babyhopes! it means so much to me to know that i am not alone in all this. I do need to update my signature i now am the proud owner of 3 suspected chem. pregs. Maybe this is gonna be it. My aunt dreamed i had a boy. LOL! Good luck and lots of prayers!

ps i am near nashville. what dr do you see?
Rebecca,
I know what you mean about Clomid making you "feel" like you are pg. I just started my 2nd round of clomid yesterday. I did have some hopes that it would work the first time, but I knew deep down that it wouldn't. My progesterone levels were really low and I was ovulating late and not well. But with the clomid I ovulated well! My progesterone levels tripled and I could tell that it was a good ovulation rather than the mild to nothing little cramps I would get on just my left side. I cramped on both sides and felt a little sick....thankfully the nausea and feeling like poo subsided. I hope that it works for us this month! If not then we will be trying it for one more month (DH SA after this cycle...hopefully that will be normal)! Then she will check my tubes and depending on what she finds or does (she my flush em out) and what the SA says we may be on our way to see an RE. Hopefully we will not have to!
Good luck to everyone this month...and take care of yourselves! :luck:

Hi all,
I am back from my vacation and I am going to talk to my doctor about MLP Test. I hope that I do well this next time. I take my blood test on Saturday. What is a chem preg???

A chemical pregnancy is when you get a BFP and then AF shows up :dunno:

:welcome: to the new girls this month! I hope we ALL graduate soon!
I'm on CD 13, waiting to "O" and have a horrible head cold. :fever: Yeah, I really feel like BDing right now....but a girl has to do what a girl has to do!
U/S scheduled on Friday...hoping for many follies!
:luck: to everyone!
Okay so I was wondering if anyone has O'd as early as CD 7 or shortly after (I know you can O earlier in your cycle) ? My cycles last anywhere from 23-29 days...usually 25 or 26, but other months if really varies. I am taking Clomid and started 2nd round on CD 5....on 50mg and have had some cramping but I noticed that I am starting to produce CM...which this is ssssssuuuuper early for me. Some months I would not get it and others it would be late in my cycle. Hence why I had to get put on clomid to begin with! Anyway, just curious. Even though my doc told me that the OPK's might give me false + based on my Dx, I still had some left over so, I may as well use them and see if I get the surge and see if it matches up with the consistancy of CM or close to that 24hr window!
Good luck to all the March testers!:storkbaby:

You will usually "O" 5 to 12 days after taking your last Clomid pill.
At least, that's what the professionals say...I don't ever count on my body doing what it's supposed to do!
Good Luck!

Thanks, BensMom
Thank you for clearing that for me, while reading the posts I could not understand anything.
I talked to my doc today and he said that all my tests are fine and it looks like that i will be O this month. Is it possible that i could get pg this first month or does it depend when I BD. I did BD on the 3rd when I O ed. Another question is does you BB's hurt all the time until one has there period. Can anyone give me advice in how to push back thoughts of me thinking I am pg, because I know it is the clomid that is giving me all these symtoms. I hate it!
Thanks
Rebecca
Wishing you all luck!

So what is Aunt Flow?? I worry that I am O enough. Should I tell my doctor that if I don't get BFP this time that I need 100mg?? I am not sure why but I have a bad feeling this time that I did not O well this time and I only got a 12.6 last time *(which was my first time with Clomid).
With the cramping thing. After my bding week my first month on Clomid I cramped sooooo bad for about 7 days then I stopped for two days and started my period with more cramping. Is that normal?? Is cramping on Clomid normal??
Hope eveyone is doing well!!
Amanda
thanks! That is what I thought too about the timeframe for Oing...but like you I never count on my body doing what it should! At least I am not Oing late in my cycle this go around even if it does come early! My doc told me that with my cycles that I should ovulate somewhere b/t days 7-17. But that was before I was put on Clomid. Anyway! Good luck to you this month as well :)

Is it safe to take a pg test after the period is missed? I just want to take one now, I have some symtoms but I honesty think that it is because of the clomid. So it would be safer to wait till i miss my period? Clomid is evil.

Hi Rebecca:
If you are on progesterone you may not get AF until you stop taking them. Are you scheduled for bloodwork? While many urged me not to, I did take a hpt at 11dpo after my first IUI, which was negative and basically ruined any plans I had for that day b/c I was so upset. It did however prepare me for the BFN bloodwork a few days later so pros and cons for both.
Rebecca_08
03-13-2008, 09:02 PM
Thanks, Danielle
I'm sorry what type of bloodwork? Do you mean pg test or O test? sorry what is AF? Is that period? sorry i don't understand. Porgesterone? The only thing that I took was the Clomid i am on nothing else. Could you please explain what (dpo)? I would be able to answer you if you could tell me what they mean??

Rebecca_08
03-13-2008, 09:07 PM
Oh sorry, for all these questions but, what is all cm before a period is it normal? Some say that one may be pg with all this CM.? Anybody have any advice.
good luck to all baby dust!!!!
mistyms
03-14-2008, 11:12 AM
OK I will see if i can help. i didn't know any of this either, i hope its correct.
DPO means days past ovulation.
AF means Aunt Flo (flow?) that nasty old B***** is your period.
CM stands for cervical mucus. I dont really understand how to check it.
Also, progesterone is hormone that some people have low ammounts of. I think you have to have a certain ammount to sustain a pg.
Did you see the thread with all the abbreviations. I dont remember but you could search and find it.
you might already know these but i will give them to you anyway.
BFN is Big Fat Negative.
BFP is Big Fat Positive.
BD is baby dance. (you know)(that one i couldn't figure out)
A chemical pregnancy is when your egg is fertilized but not attached itself to the uterus.
(that is to the best of my understanding)
Hope it helps! God Bless-Misty

an update on me.
AF arrived Wedsnesday. I called my OBGYN to get a refill of my clomid and the gave me the SAME DOSE!!!! ARRRGH!
i wanted to choke someone.
oh well maybe the doc is right. at least this one is actually doing something for me.
THat reminds me. no bladder infection. I have heard a yeast infection can travel past the usual area and into the urinary tract but i dont know. I got diflucan refilled so maybe it will clear up.
Also. Can you all give me advice on a delicate matter?
My dh works 60+ hrs a week. We really have a hard time with him being to tired to bd as often is "required". I have tried a lot of things, but sometimes he just, even if he wants too, is too tired to "perform".
i know this is a really sensitive issue so i dont bring it up to him much but i would really like to move past infertility and get on with my life. Sorry just about to go into a rant. So beyond all the tricks i know, (lingerie etc) and a lot of him laying out of work i really dont know what to do.
Thanks Gals Good Luck and God Bless you all

My U/S went well....I had 3 follies on my right side, with two of them measuring over 16mm. Got a + OPK this morning, and also had my 1st IUI this morning. Doc gave me a trigger before I left, and I will go for another IUI on Monday morning....all because he isn't open on Sunday, when he would have rather done 1 IUI!
So, I'm in the 2WW, and feeling pretty good....I just hope it goes quick!

Rebecca~ I have no words of wisdom...but I can offer you {{BIG HUGS}}. Feel free to express yourself here...that is what we're here for!
Mistyms~ My doc said that if you "O" on dose of Clomid, upping the mg, like going from 50 to 100 mg, doesn't increase the chance of getting PG, or "O"ing stronger. I hope your infection goes away soon! That is NO fun.
:luck: to you both!
Rebecca...you do need certain amts of progesterone to sustain pg (tough some women have carried with low amts). Depending on the doc they want your progesterone above 15-20. Progesterone increases with pregnancy will be around the 300-400 range before birth. It drops before you go into labor (much like it dropping before AF).
I too wish I could get passed these emotions...as normal as they are for all of us going thru this! As photogrl said big hugs to you!
I can say that finding this discussion board has helped me b/c I know that I am not alone! I would seek help though if you are finding yourself depressed for more than a couple days. I get depressed around AF, but then once I know I know that I have hit my fertile days (actually once I start my first dose of clomid now) I get excited and think we get to try this again then I sit and calculate what the due date would be if I did get pg this time....so for the most part I really try to stay positive. I talk to DH and my parents about it (some friends too). That helps talking about it....even if I get teared up sometimes. Good luck to you and hang in there...we are all on this crazy baby making roller coaster together!

Hi ladies, I am new to these parts of the boards. I belonged to the struggling to conceive boards before my twins. (Clomid babies) We will be officially trying again in May. So far we have had every test in the world and even had an egg evaluation. It looks as if we will be turning to the provera and clomid combo again because I have had 3 pregnancies since the twins and have not been able to keep any of them. I lost two before the twins when I wasn't on clomid. It took us three rounds of clomid for the twins, but I hope that isn't the case this time. My first two rounds failed and we were doing 50 mg on days 5-9. Then my doctor changed it to 1-5 at 50 mg and that's when we got the twins. My infertility doctor says that his patients have always had a higher rate when clomid is given earlier, but it also may increase your chance at multiples. I love my twins, but I am really hoping for an uncomplicated single pregnancy, so that i can have that experience. I will take what I get though because I am obviously not in control. If I was I would have a ton of children here right now. Anyways I wanted to introduce myself because I don't think I know any of you. Having been there once I know what a letdown all of this can be and I am praying for everyone and sending tons of twin babydust your way.
Welcome..I am really new to this whole thing! :silly: Why were you on clomid before?
jaycee01
03-15-2008, 06:52 PM
I was on clomid the first time because we had been ttc for 2 years with two miscarriages at 4 and 7 weeks. These last three were at 9, 5, and 8 weeks. I have had a hormone panel done and dh has had two s/a's done with good results. We also had pathology examine the embryos after the last two miscarriages and those were normal. For some reason I have problems sustaining a pregnancy, but it was only with the last miscarriage that I had my hormones tested and my progesterone took a major dip. My doctor thinks that this is our best bet since it worked last time.
Sorry about the m/c. I am talking clomid b/c I O poorly. My progesterone levels were in the dumps too! Arg :O Good luck with your new round!

Amy - awesome news!!!!!!!!!!!
Rebecca - so sorry for the delayed response, it took me a long time to get all the lingo down and I still get confused!
Welcome Jaycee - hope your stay is short:)
Have any of you used pre-seed, if so what do you think about it? I thought that I had good CM and then thought it is not far from EWCM b/c of my location of my cervix and the creamy CM and moistness (since Wed)....but yesterday afternoon I felt dryer and then today I am dryer but cervix still high and CM is clear but not really a lot...so confused...I do take clomid and I know this can cause your CM to dry up...anyone experience this? Is it possible that I O'd super early his cycle...even thought my last dose of clomid was on Friday! I did have O cramps Wed afternoon and someone into Friday late am...mmm kind of strange!

hello everybody,
I just want to thank those gave me inforamtion and feedback. For the last few days i was feeling ill, and having a lot cm. So i took an pregnancy test today and it came out positive. OMG. See everyone do not give up everything will come out ok. I promise. I felt the world was on my shoulders and i would never become pg again. but as you can tell i found out today. I know it is hard and once you get your hopes up they come down hard. So again, i can't express that everything will happen the way you want, never let your faith down.
thanks again for so who gave me feedback and information.

1st of all COngrats Rebecca!!
so i am on day 8 of the cd 5-9 clomid. I went to obgyn this morning, my progesterone was like 42. thats a big jump. before the clomid it was at 8.
so thats why they didnt increase my dose. The dr also said to start BD when you start the clomid. Thats fine and all but heres the catch for me.
remember that UTI i thought i had, well uroligist said it wasnt. A few ppl told me it might be yeast traveling upwards. But it is "bacterial vaginosis":(
no BD for 5 more days and its been at least 7. What do i do. My dh is already tired and stuff. It feels like everything is stacked against me for getting PG.
:boohoo: And thats not so bad going w/o bd, until you have to do without for a RX that cost me $120. again want to choke some one. no one to choke. not the pharmacys fault, not the drs fault, could try to choke my aheh, girl parts but that would hurt and it would look pretty funny cuz im at work. ok girls,
i got to go ahead and say it. Is anybody else but me jealous of Rebecca08? I am really happy for her but its so hard to have the same problem as some one and they get out and you are stuck there with the same problem. another dose, anothere cycle, another 2ww,another AF, maybe even another BFN. Its just so hard and if i cant spill it here than theres no where that i can and that would be unbearable.
no harm intended to you rebecca, none at all and i hope you do well and have a health pg and a healthy baby (babies?)!:silly: It was nice to have you here for a little while.:sadbye:

Mistyms: {{BIG HUGS}} to you! :hugs: It's really hard to see people move on quickly, and still be around. I've been TTC #2 now since Sept 2005...Trust me I "get" it!
As for your BDing issue, I'll pray that you hold off from "O"ing until you can BD again....remember our bodies aren't machines...we don't all "O" on CD 14, even with Clomid! :winks: Expect to "O" 5 to 12 days following your last pill...just make sure to BD ASAP!
Good luck & keep that chin up!

Thanks Amy! I have been thinking about what a terrible thing it is for me to be so self-centered that i cant forget about my problems for a minute and be happy for someone else. I am glad you "get" it! But trust me I wish you didn't have to get it. Thanks for being so supportive.
I will try clomid 50 for this month and maybe 4 after, as long as my nuerologist
will let me keep trying.
Well thanks for being my shoulder to cry on. Hope we both get off this board & on to the due date boards soon.:comfort:

It's a hard journey. I am lucky to have the twins and I even feel selfish for wanting another. At the same time though i always wanted a big family and having one has been the hardest journey of my life. It took me 2 miscarriages and 2 years to get my girls. After my girls I tried to get back on the baby train because of my premature ovarian failure. I lost all 3 of my last pregnancies. Two (well three because one was a twin pregnancy) of them I had seen on ultrasound a couple of times and had gotten attached. It's rough, it really is, but it will happen and you just have to let it happen and not analyze it all. The scary thing is that when it comes to medicine and especially the reproductive system we can't control it! You are scared you won't get pregnant, and I am scared I will and lose it before 13 weeks. We all have a journey and we can all do it together. We have all been through heck to get to where we are today, but in the end it will be worth it. I have been through a lot with my twins, my little Autumn has preleukemia and they were both preemies and I couldn't even go home with them after they were born. It's all rough and once you turn the conception corner it will be the pregnancy corner and once you turn that one it's the baby, toddler, preschool corner. There is always something to worry about. Now I am starting to gab, but I have no doubt you will get pregnant. It will happen.

Jaycee~ You have hit the nail on the head! Well put! I too am TTC #2, and I often feel guilty and selfish that I'm trying so hard to have another one!
And we really don't have any control over fertility, do we? All we can do is think positive and pray...
Thanks for putting it in perspective!

Hi all: Well yesterday I found out that my O number came in and I just knew it!! I did not O, I was a 4.... last month was my first month and I was a 12.6. I don't understand it. I think I know what I did wrong. I remember that if you take vitiman D with any of your reguar pills it can block your other ones from working... also I have not exersised for the last three weeks. I am usually pretty good about it since I am a big girl I really try to go three to four times a week. but I got lazy and maybe that stopped me from Oing????? They are upping my Clomid to 100 mg. Can anyone tell me what kind of Oing numbers that they have been given. With a natural AF it should be over 10 is what I heard and that is what I had the first month.
I know what you mean about being upset about other people. I just went to a baby shower for my cousin that is 18 and not graduated High School. It was an accident. Why can they get preg and not me who has the house and the time and the LOVE???
Thanks for letting me vent!

So sorry Amandagirl. I think that on medicated cycles, they want you progesterone to be above 15. My estradiol test came back low (89) and I just had my profesterone test (and another estradiol) on Friday. I should know results on Monday.
Hang in there AND try not to blame yourself. Your low numbers may not have had anything to do with anything you did or did not do.
And- yes- it seems like everyone around me is getting pg- either by accident (several friends) or on their first month trying (my little brother and sister-in-law). It can be hard. Again- not mad about them- just mad it is not me.

{{HUGS}} to you Amanda!
Docs like to see over ten for a non-medicated cycle, and 15 or up for a medicated cycle.
Don't beat yourself up too much, so people don't respond to 50mg well...take the next few weeks to get back on the wagon with exercise, and hopefully, 100mg will do the trick!
Good Luck!
Yeah, my doc wanted my progesterone to be above 20 on a medicated cycle. It was 12 before the clomid. Keep your chin up and like photogirl said...maybe 100mg is what you need :)
What is the story about the Vit. D and other pills?
Amandagirl
03-22-2008, 05:39 PM
Thanks for the encourgment guys!! I have been doing my exercise like crazy since I heard about my 4. I will ck to see if I am preg anyway (per the doctor on march 31st and if not they are going to put me on 100mg. I just heard that if you take Vitaman D with other drugs it will block the other drugs from working. My sister got that from her doctor but I have not heard of that otherwise. I am going to just take my prenatal only, just in case.
My doctor said that because I had a reg AF with out meds then my 12.6 was great. She even saw someone get preg from a 8 before. She said to try this and keep exercising.
I'll have to ask my doc about the Vit. D...it would be nice if they all followed the same guidelines!

hey i appreciate your thoughts but i have gotten pregnant 3Xs and lost them due to chem.pregs. I know not everybody believes that CPs are real pregnancies but it hurts to know that it did happen and my body rejected it. My husband didnt even believe me the first time. i was crying over it for two days and he was like "The test was wrong" and "I dont see why you are making such a big deal about it" when all I needed from him was to be like "Im sorry, we'll try again." I dont know maybe i am overdoing things. I am afraid that everyone who doesnt know what i go through thinks i am living in a self made pity party and they have to be part of it. I have heard enough of "just relax" or "you can try adopting, then you will get pg". If i hear that again i will scream!!!!!!!!!! (its also statisticaly proven that adopting wont get you pregnant faster)

In the mean time, I have an appointment with the RE on April 28th and I will continue charting during the break for information. I may also take FertilAid vitamins to try and get my cycle under control. And try to lose weight (I have about 20lbs to lose).

Fees generally range from $50 to $90. I pay $65. Key is to go to someone who specializes in fertility issues. Not sure if you have been following the Acupunture thread in STC, but alot of the ladies have found it to be a very positive experience. Let me know if I can answer any other questions for you. I'm 11DPIUI and I'm climbing the walls! I even took my temp this morning (I stopped after my IUI 'cause I had the trigger shot), just to see if I have any hope for this cycle. All my symptoms from the trigger have pretty much diminished, but I'm trying to be positive still.

Well I did take clomid before with nothing else just time intercourse, no luck. We have moved on to IUI and both months numbers were great!! My progesterone level last IUI cycle was a 53 and this month a 38.7. I tryly hope this test I did this morning was WRONG! Why else would i not get preggo.... I am hoping the Dr will let me keep trying at least 6 times with IUI, I don't think I want to do IVF.

That's awesome!!! How was the appointment??
It took me one month after we decided to move forward with the IVF, there were blood tests and a few other things we had to do before we started. Also figuring out the finances was a big job for me. I also changed R.E.'s about a week or so after I decided I didn't like the R.E. I had been seeing.
So... I guess one month. I needed some time to figure things out, I'm not one to jump head first into something unless I have done all my homework. I'm a planner and need to mentally prepare myself for something like this.

The appt was SO quick. Seems like I always wait forever for 5 minutes of facetime, which is monumentally frustrating, but anyway, here's the lowdown:
-DH's SA was worse than we thought. All the morphology issues that we knew about (99% abnormal) and only 4% alive.
- RE says our only viable option given DH's issues is IVF ICSI.
- In order for ins to agree to go straight to IVF ICSI (w/o trying the other stuff first) we need another SA w/bad results. So, DH has to go in on Tues for another SA. If it's not terribly bad, he has to go for another until we have 2 bad ones. Can't believe we're actually hoping for a bad SA! Weird. Life.
-Dr. says we will only transfer 2 good embryos at a shot and freeze any others we get. He thinks we'll be pg w/in the year and that our ages (30 and 34) work in our favor.
- The only thing that irritates me is that they didn't call and just tell us to have DH repeat the SA back in early March. WHY did we have to wait a whole flippin month to get to our follow-up to then schedule his second SA and the next follow up w/the RE?! I'm so frustrated. I'll be starting AF in a week and now I have to wait out that next cycle until we can do anything! Plus, my cycles are interminable! 40-someodd days!
DH says I should call the nurse/doc and just say that I'm starting AF in a week and is there anything I can do (ie- start BC) so that we don't miss out on this cycle for IVF. Do you guys think that's a reasonable thing to do? I know I'm impatient, but I don't want to BE patient. I want to GET STARTED!
Thanks! And good luck, Sylvia! I hope to be right there w/you!

When we started IVF it took 2.5 months from initial visit until first beta - and that was even with a 1 month delay due to a corpus luteum cyst. A lot depends on how quick you are to get the testing out of the way. Best of luck to you all.

GL, DaughterofZion!
Mia -- I would ask about getting starting on the BCP, and also ask if there are any blood tests you will need to do. I had to do the infectious tests, blood typing, and DH had to do those along with Cystic Fibrosis test. It took about 2 weeks to get the results with my last R.E.
But it may be quicker with yours... I think CarrieK got her results back in about 1 week.
I also had to get a Rubella vaccine, but the last R.E. was willing to let me get the Rubella shot and then wait 3 weeks for IVF. I just got re-tested for it at the new R.E. to make sure I have the immunities.
I would call them today and see what you need to do to get started... you have to get those tests done anyway, even if you start the cycle this time around or on your next cycle. so, I would go everything rolling as soon as you can.

I did the typing and infectious tests (CF included) when they did CD3 bloodwork this cycle. He didn't say anything about those results yesterday so I guess all is ok.
So it seems like it would just be BCP at this point! Is it standard that everyone goes on BCP or is that just some REs? I think I'll call the nurse this afternoon and see how we can get this party started. Thanks!
Mia... I'm not sure if all R.E.'s have you go on BCP. I've read some posts by ladies on IVFconnections.com that did not go on BCP. I think it depends on your hormone levels, age and stuff.
I just got my total for the IVF cycles w/ refund package... It's not as bad as I thought. It's about $10,000 less than I thought it would be upfront. Thank God.
I get all the papers to sign on Monday, so I'll be official. I think my injectable meds will come late next week. Then I go in on April 15th (isn't that tax day too??) and learn how to give shots to myself. I'm a little nervous, but it's well worth if everything works out!!! Figuring that I have overcome so many other issues with pain, needles and blood. I think I'll be ok. as practice to get myself going, I have been using little diabetes testing things to prick myself and test my blood sugar. I'm not diabetic, just having some fun... !!
I think we should make this into a sticky.... this is going to be a long two months. :)
I think we should make this into a sticky.... this is going to be a long two months. :)
Amen to that!!! :)
Sylvia, you'll get through the needles - don't worry. I am pathologically terrified, but managed to do it during IUI, so I know I can do it now - so can you! So happy that you're getting going - and that the finances were a pleasant surprise! (Man, that is a change of pace in all of this, no???) :)
Miabella, see if you can't get your behind on the pill! (And did we EVER imagine saying that?!?!) From what I have heard thus far, based on your age (and unless you've got low ovarian reserve - don't think you do, though???) you'd most likely do bcp first, from what I've learned.
Hoping to join you both soon - tentatively beginning bcp later this month. Fingers crossed.....

I haven't called the RE's office yet about the BCP but will do so soon.
Mal- I'm not actually sure about my ovarian reserve. It's actually my borderline FSH that brought us to the RE in the first place. It was 10.36 when the OB did it on CD3. But, when the RE retested it was down to a 5! It's DH's issues that are keeping us w/the RE I guess! So, I'm not sure if the high number was a fluke or not. The RE didn't seem to concerned about it. Mal, maybe we'll be starting BCP around the same time. Do you start it CD1?
Sylvia- I'm so glad the financial hit is so much less than you thought! What a relief! Good luck w/the shots. Let us know how it goes. Pretty soon you'll be the pro coaching us through!
Alison - GL! You're just a month away (less!) from transfer! I hope all goes as planned!

Good Luck Amanda! Have fun at Disneyland...
I leave on Monday to go to Disneyworld with DH & DD...I can't wait either!
Alison & Sylvia - :cheer:ing for you both and cannot wait to follow in your footsteps!!
Miabella, we may be cycle buddies! I should start bcp on CD1 - somewhere around 4/25, but that is never an exact science with me. :eyeroll: So a full cycle on that, with Lupron starting the last three days to make sure all is suppressed. I'll be doing bravelle and menopur after that, although the duration will vary based on monitoring. That's what I think I know so far. :dunno:So maybe late May for ER/T??? Meanwhile, just waiting. :pace:Impatiently. But hopefully this will give me the time to get the new insurance sorted out. Other than that, I think we've had every test in the book already. Although... for anyone farther along, do you know if a mock transfer is required even if you've already done IUI?
So excited to start seeing BFPs, ladies!!

Hi girls we have our appt with the RE on the 17th. I just want to ask some questions then we will decide wether we want to start with the April period or May. I usually don't take BCP and start right into to lupron then to Follistim. It good to see that there are more girls that will be going through this.

Just got back from the RE! Sylvia and Mal, looks like we'll be cycle buddies! I'm SO glad I called and pressed for an earlier appointment because it worked out that we can start this cycle!
Here's the protocol:
-Starting BCP on CD1 (tomorrow? Thurs?)
-Lupron starting CD18
-Lupron/ Gonal-F next CD1
-Lupron/ Gonal-F/HMG (repro-somethingorother)
-Orvidrel trigger
Looks like we'll be doing retrieval/transfer around the 19th of May!:yeehaw:

Well, girls. I started BCP today. I may or may not start Lupron on day 18. It's all dependent upon my insurance approval coming through in time. We started BCP just in case and will have to wait and see if we can proceed w/this cycle. Please say a prayer that we get insurance approval before the 28th of this month!
Fingers crossed, Mia! I will be behind you for just that reason. :aww: Since my new insurance doesn't start until June 1, I have to wait until May to start BCP to allow 3wks for prior auth by the insurer. But I'll be behind you soon!!!!

Man, it's so frustrating. I mean I am so thankful for insurance coverage, but at the same time I'm Ms. Antsy Pants. :scream: Well, at least it's around the corner one way or another for us!
The whole financial aspect of it sucks... I don't have infertility insurance, so I had to find a doctor that offered the shared risk program. That's one of the reasons why I waited a cycle to start.
I'm hoping for twins.. I call it my two for one plan. :)

Are ya getting excited yet girls?? I know I am!! I'm waiting for AF right now. The only times in my whole life that I have got excited that AF started was when I was waiting to start a IVF cycle. She should of arrived to day but since I had dd AF has been all over the place. I go the 17th to ask my questions and get protocol for this cycle. Then mid cycle I will go back for another sonohystogram since my last cycle ended in a m/c at almost 8 weeks. I can't wait to get started!! Good luck to all of you girls!! The injections really aren't that bad either. I find that if I give them to myself they don't hurt as much.
Good luck Uschi!! :) crossing everything for you!!!
I am soo excited today.. I get my first shot of Lupron tomorrow. I just called my SIL for techniques as I didn't get a tutorial from the nurse, I was in such a rush to get back to work that day..
I also watched some Youtube as well, that definitely helped. Lots of helpful ladies showing how to give shots to yourself.

Hollyn, thanks for the info! It's great to see a successful IVFer on here. iIt gives me lots of hope!
Sylvia, good luck with the shot today! You're on your way! Yay!
:)
I started my Lupron today... I must say I actually liked the injection process. It was actually sort of fun to do... I'm weird - I know!! :)
I spoke to my clinical coordinator/RN about my meds, and asked her about progesterone. My doctor only prescribed the vag. suppositories... Is it normal for doctors to not have some patients do injectable progesterone??
Sylvia, are you a needle junkie?!?! :rolly: I'm so excited you started and the first day went well!! I think the progesterone treatment is clinic-specific. Mine uses PIO, but darnit if I wouldn't love to do the supp! I'm not sure there's a truly compelling argument on either side, more about trusting your RE and the protocol that s/he is successful with. Good luck and KUP!

Good luck today Uschi! Sending many sticky vibes your way!
I was given supp progesterone last cycle...a nice change from all the injections.
I'm on day 6 of lupron shots. Dh is the injector. I haven't experienced any of the menopausal side effects that I am aware of -YET. Wed 4-23 I go in for ultrasound and start other meds.
I got this Anji meditation cd online that is ivf specific and have it on my ipod. It has meditations for injection phase, retriev-transf phase and 2ww period. I reccomended it if your looking for a few minutes of calm in the midst of all this excitement.
To this being our cycle! Good luck!

I am going to be starting my first cycle of clomid this month. I was diagnosed with PCOS by my previous dr. My new doc doesn't know if this is accurate. I have a lot of midcycle spotting and in fact, I haven't started AF yet this month and I am on CD 33!! I took my OPK today and it was positive. I am wondering if this is a false positive. I wanted to ask if I do in fact have PCOS, will clomid help to create more mature eggs?? Or should I get on Metformin first. My doc gave me 50mg of clomid on CD 3-7. Any thoughts?

:welcome: to the Clomid corner! I remember seeing you in STC a while back.
I don't know about your ?'s about the PCOS, 'cause I don't have it...but Clomid is prescribed to help your body ovulate, ovulate strongly with a mature egg. It can also help with LP issues.
In my experience, I like taking the clomid on days 3-7 better 'cause I "O" earlier in the cycle, than if I take it days 5-9. You can expect to "O" anywhere from 5 to 12 days after your last pill.
I hope AF starts soon for you! :luck:

Photo Girl,
Thank you so much for the info! Also thank you for the welcome back. It is nice to be back. I had to take a break and release some of my anxiety with ttc. It was really hard for me, but now I feel we are on the right track. I really hope the clomid works for us. I see people on here who have been on clomid for a while and still get BFN. DH and I are parents without a child. I guess that is all of us ladies on here huh? It is so nice to be back on APA and have the support of all of you.
Thanks again!!!

I'm enjoying my lovely Lupron AF right now... yippee!! I have no desire to do anything except lounge around all day, I've done nothing since Friday night.
But on Friday night I went to a wrap party for work and was really bad had a couple of cocktails, some caffeine and rode a roller coaster... I guess that was the time to do it!! So now I'm back to my healthy ways... It was only five hours of no-no's. :)

Sylvia, sounds like it was a fun 5 hours!
Girls, I had my first Lupron shot this am. It was a bit overwhelming. I'm not sure if anyone else experienced this, but I had difficulty sleeping last night and then when it came time to stab myself I got totally emotionally overwhelmed! It wasn't so much the needle, but the "I can't believe all that we're about to do" feeling. It's almost like it moved so fast that I hadn't really fully processed the weight of IVF. Anyway, I made DH do it. Not too bad. I feel ok. Just a little itchy/achy at the site but so far so good.

Hi everybody, its been a long time, Just wanted to wish you all BFPs:pray: and also ask a question.
ok so here is my question but let me explain it first.
I just found out I actually do have PCOS because about 3 weeks ago I got this terrible pain in my side. I have had pains before but this one, i knew something was wrong. I woke up my husband and told him to take me to the doctor. I went to my GP who did labs and ordered an US. The labs came up negative for any signs of infection. Then the pelvic US showed a very large cyst on my ovary. They could not get a good look at it so the US tech called my doc and he had them do a TV (transvaginal) US ~~awkward!~~. Anyway the cyst looked bigger on the pelvic so my GP says go to my OBGYN, because at this point they are saying big cyst or ectopic. So i go to OB who admits me, finally gets preg.tests results back (bfn but at this point i was relieved b/c its not ectopic pg) has me to a CT scan, (i am starving at this point) and after the CT scan the decide they will have to do surgery.
Yay! They are going to cut me open to see the cyst, right. So I have to sighn the consent form, and it says they might take out a cyst, take out an ovary or take out a fallopian tube. NOOO way!!!! :XThey said that had to be on there just in case.
So i am in surgery and they find the cyst is not really that big, but my appendix is about to burst!! Well I am glad its not the ovaries and that the appendix is out and i dont have to deal with it!!! My doctor says skip the clomid this month and let everything heal. Thats good advice, i dont have a problem with that.
But here is my question. I have been soooooo irritable and aggitated. I know its stupid, and usually over nothing but i just totally cannot help it. I get mad when my Mom calls at work, and its not a new thing She calls all the time and it never used to bother me.
Soooo, my question is have any of you been more crazy during your time off from clomid? Its not that I am taking time off, its actually been nice not to watch everything I do, eat, and everything. (No clomid this month so yesss to margarita at dinner Friday night) Anyway I really appreciate anything you all could tell me about your time off were you worse with the moodiness?
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

To Misty,
I just think that it is normal to feel irratable all the time because we are woman and hormones suck. I think that with all that you have going on and having to wait for everything to heal is the mentally hard part.
Hang in there.

By the way I am on Clomid day 33 today and no AF. I feel a little sick today so cross your fingers. I O'd at 17.1, which the doctor told me was great.

hey suzie - good to see you again!
thx Victoria - how are things going for you
Mia... I know what you mean. I've been thinking about the IVF more and more. The hormones are really getting to me. I've tried to stay light hearted about everything, but yesterday I seriously had a breakdown. Most of mine is because of work. In general it is a HUGE emotional rollercoaster... the needles are nothing in comparison.
I feel like because I am going through IVF my supervisor does not see me as a serious employee. Essentially she has me by the balls (if I had some). Not the other way around this time. It sucks in that way... I just hope I get pregnant considering all of this because I am compromising so much right now. It seems so unfair, but I guess we do what we have to do.
I also have to be open about what I am doing because otherwise it would be difficult for me to get the time off, etc... I essentially had to tug on some heartstrings and present a sob story in order to be taken seriously about coming in late multiple days and then taking a week off during the most hectic time of tv season. Normally this is not tolerated at all. Work comes first, and they make this very clear to everyone.

Wow! That's great! One less hurdle to that baby!
It's so interesting how this all plays out in a work environment. I totally know what you mean. I am lucky because my boss and I are close, so she knows what is going on and understands. However, my other coworkers don't, so I'm envisioning them wondering why I "get" to take all this time off. I just remind myself that there is a bigger reason for all of this.
Have you gotten any Lupron side effects yet? I'm still good, I think. Was a little nauseous yesterday and STARVING, but that could be from anything. And then there are the emotions...but I think that's just IVF in general!

Misty - glad you're feeling better! Clomid made me an emotional mess and even after going off of it, I still felt very irritable and overly emotional. It eventually passed and I am sure it will for you too:)
Mia - I've had some side effects at the beginning, but now I am just very emotional, hungry and then NOT hungry at all, and tired. I can fall asleep an hour after I get home most days now.

Warning: here comes a . I am sooooo :po:. As I've  to you all many, many times, I've been in limbo due to my stupid company changing insurance. Which has taken about 3 months longer than it should have :duh: but that's another story. To get to the point, the company picked a BCBS policy which offers IVF coverage. :celebrate: Or so I thought. The @#!U()@#*()! cheaped out and opted out of that coverage, as I've now found out in the fine print.:scream::wtf::scream::scream::ohno: I know I shouldn't :boohoo:over this too much, since we did qualify for a shared risk program, and were going to do that before we found out about "getting coverage," but I am just FURIOUS that I've lost five months and feel like I've been JERKED AROUND! :pokey: And, just to rub a little salt in the wound, I'm finding this out a week too late to catch my April cycle and start BCP. :headbang: Please tell me that this is just another (number 8,947,632) test in this insane process, and that it will pass, and that I will get that BFP.... Today I just don't know.... Ok, sorry for the :hijack:. Please carry on with your IVF cycles.

SH*%! That is NOT what I was planning on reading when I saw you had posted. Grumble, grumble.
OK. Here's my take:
#1. it sucks, sucks, sucks! Waiting sucks and hoping sucks and thinking you'll have coverage only to have it set you back sucks. I'm frustrated FOR you. (this is not to rub it in but to validate what you're feeling)
#2. Stupid company. I'm giving them the finger.
#3. Here's my thought on setbacks...when you have your perfect, little bambino in your hands you will be thinking, "s/he is just the most precious thing." You'll realize, that if the timing had worked out differently, you wouldn't be holding that exact little bugger. And you won't want it any other way. I don't know if I'm making any sense here (sometimes it works in my head and then I try and write it down and well...). I guess I find some peace in the that fact.
#4. This is just another (number 8,947,632) test in this insane process, and it will pass, and you will get that BFP.
#5. :buddies:
I'm sorry hon...
Waiting sucks!!! Insurance companies suck!!! I had a number of set backs just trying to figure out that we needed to do IVF.
I say we were at least three months set back from starting... due to my diverticulitis problem, and then DH morphology issues, etc...
I was set back on my last cycle... I skipped an entire cycle to "research" IVF and get my DH and I warmed up to the idea and mentality prepared... and it was worth it for me... because I had no idea what was going on. I know you're not in the same place I was, but the wait will be worth it!
Hang in there girl!
How's the menopur treating you today? I'll be on Gonal-f...are they the same thing?
I think they are similar... I just started the menopur last night. I'm actually experiencing hot flashes already. But maybe that is left over from the Lupron?? My Lupron dosage has dropped down to 5 units. :)
I tried a new place for my Lupron shot this morning, in my side, my love handle area... holy cow, that was painful. But still sorta fun. I know... I'm a wacko. My DH calls me his little junkie wife. hehe
How are you feeling??
#5. :buddies:
:lol:Thanks, Mia!! It does SUCK, so thanks for thinking it sucks, too. And for giving them the finger. :rolly:
And what made sense in your head also made a lot of sense written down. I'd never thought about it, but maybe there is a specific little bugger with my name on it....can't wait to find out.

I am not on Metformin because it does not work well with my stomach but I take Actos and insulin as I am type 1 and 2 diabetic. We have decided to try all 6 months on the clomid before we do anything else. I really hope this works well for you as you are stopping soon.
You have MS??? I am sorry does that mean that if you don't get prego that you won't be able to later??
Amanda
This darn left ovary hurts!! Is this pretty common that one side would hurt more than the other during stims??? It feels like someone is poking me in the ovary!! :pokey:
It's enough to make me want to just lie down... I did laundry and cleaned today, but going up and down the stairs is so uncomfortable. So now I'm just being a bum. I so want to go on the treadmill, because I hate not being able to work out. But I don't think it's a good idea. any thoughts???
I also lost a lot of my water gain after my Lupron dosage went down, so I don't feel totally bloated right now, just the pain on the left side.

Well, girls, AF came this morning!:silly: I go in for bloodwork and u/s tomorrow for the supression check and if all is well I'll start stims this week! I can't wait. I really hope all continues to go smoothly!
Sylvia, you ARE a totally needle junkie! My DH calls me his little pin cushion! I still make him give me my shots. I know I could, but I like keeping him involved. I had one shot yesterday that hurt like a mofo! Holy cow! We must have hit a blood vessel or something because I have a nice, purple blotch on my belly there now. Ah, well...the sacrifices we make...
As for your ovary, I've heard it's normal to feel pretty intense O-type pains on stims, but of course I don't know from any personal experience. When do you go in for your next u/s and check? Hopefully it's all just lots of big, fat follies getting ready to vie for the role of mommy's little embie!
Mia, yay for AF!! I'm sure everything will check out fine and you'll be stimming in no time! :)
I just went in for my ultrasound this morning, and so far I have 38 follicles. Holy moses!! No wonder why my ovaries are killing me! My lining is exactly where it needs to be right now, so that is awesome.
They still need to continue to grow, and I hope I'm not hyper stimulating... When I get my blood results back this afternoon they will tell me if I need to cut down on my stims or keep at the same pace... here I was worried I wouldn't respond very well.
I'm just hoping and praying that my follies continure to grow and I'll have at least a dozen+ eggs.
and.. I totally love the needles! I keep asking my DH if he wants me to give him a shot os saline... I make him watch sometimes, I think it disturbs him that I love the needles so much. But they are so fun to mix, etc... I'm nuts.

Hey Amandagirl,
good luck with your BFP this month, I will be praying for you!
I was wondering about the Metformin b/c a lot of the girls here list it as well as clomid. I read that insulin resistance has something to do with pcos & inf.
so i have been trying to loose weight, i cant exercise all that much, like i want to and DH wants too (he wants to go jogging and i just had surgery 3 1/2 weeks ago + ms.) but i started counting calories-that sucks bad!
but i guess it needs to be done.
Oh, you asked if i could not get BFP if i dont right now, technically i could but it will be a thing of coming off meds for 3-6 months after being on treatments for 3-5 years; and also the older I get it seems it would be harder to get BFP.
I dont know what is going to happen; I have been praying for God's will for my life. So whatever happens I know that is what is supposed to happen. Maybe now that my appendix is out and I am starting to loose some weight I will get a BFP.
Lots a love

I hope so too, I will pray for you as well. Well how much does your appendix weigh,... lol maybe that will help you out with your lbs... I am trying to lose weight too, but it is hard with two issues making me gain weight, so after the clomid if I don't get prego in the next three months I am going to have the gastric bypass surgery and maybe that will help but after that surgery you have to wait a year to TTC again. Oh well maybe that is God's way for me. Hope your treatments with MS go well.
Amanda :)

Sylvia, you're a nut with the needles! I'm glad you're enjoying it...better than the alternative! How great that you have 38 follies! Grow, babies, grow!
I went in the am for my u/s. The tech said all looked clear. No cysts and my lining was properly thinned. Just waiting on the b/w to come back and get a call with directions. They had me cut my Lupron to 5 units this am, so hopefully I'll get to start stimming tonight!
Btw, is anyone doing acupuncture during the IVF cycle. I have an appt. tonight. I've been seeing her for a while now, but since this is my first IVF cycle, I didn't know if I should have her focus on anything in particular.

I had my first shot of stims last night!!!!!:yeehaw: Woohoo! I'm officially cycling!!!!! :hero:
Mia - Yay! for the stims!! How are you feeling??? bloated and tired yet? Maybe you're doing better than I am on stims.. I so want to go exercise. Even walking (strolling) for more than 20 minutes makes me tired.
My retrieval got pushed to Tuesday... I was on 4 menopur amps until Friday, they brought me down to 1 amp because they didn't want me to hyper-stimulate. Now they want me on 2 amps tonight.... The doctor just called to tell me the news.
Sort of bummed, but I want the best eggs... Monday is my wedding anniversary... we so wanted to "conceive" on that day. But Tuesday is good too! :)
Hope you are well.. Let us know how you are feeling!

OMG, Sylvia! I can't believe your ER is Tuesday! Woohoo!!!! May the force be with you! :hero: I'll be thinking of you!
I'm doing pretty well. I had b/w on Friday am (after 3 nights of stims) and they kept my Gonal-f at 225iu and added in the Repronex (HMG). I was a little concerned because originally the RE thought I would drop down to 150iu of the Gonal-f and they had me keep it the same. I asked the nurse if it was b/c I wasn't responding well...she said I was responding "fine" but if my E2 were higher the doc would have dropped my dosage. I think I'm a little, um, weepy, cause I freaked out, worried that my ovaries aren't doin' there thing. My E2 was 175...not sure what that means for day4? Well, I go in for b/w and u/s tomorrow am so I'll get to SEE and COUNT my follies. Hopefully that's all good. Fingers crossed!
As for how I'm feeling...TIRED! Oh, my! I can't believe how much it knocks you out! Hopefully that means my body is taking my energy to develop those follicles!
Eeek! I'm so excited for you! C'mon eggies!
Will you go under general anesthesia or sedations for the retrieval? I just found out I'll be out totally. Good luck and keep me posted! Yay!
Mia - sounds good!!! you're on track, my day 4 E2 was 358, they backed me off a little a couple days later... my E2 almost doubled overnight from day 7 to day 8... I think 175 is pretty normal. They were afraid that I was going to hyper-stimulate.
I give myself the HCG injection tonight at 11:45p, I go in tomorrow for another ultrasound and blood work (running out of veins!) My retrieval is set for 10:45a on Tuesday!! I'm so excited.
It will be general anesthesia for me... which is totally fine. I've had surgery before and it's just that yucky feeling afterwards that I hate.
I can't wait to hear about your follicles!! Mine started off a little slow, but I have quite a few that at 18/20mm+ :)
I am REALLY REALLY tired today. I worked all last week, and was going pretty strong, but in bed when I got home. so much pressure on my belly... are you getting any pain??
My DH and I walked to the park today and I got really dizzy... I'm just laying in bed all day, because I also feel a little sick to my stomach. :X
I feel like a loser right now just sitting all the time and in bed, I would usually be out and about or at least walking or exercising or getting stuff done around the house. I just feel so drained... like when you have the flu and are in bed all day. But whenever I get up I feel yucky in about 10 minutes. I just have to suck it up for now... It will be worth it when all is said and done.
Report back after your next RE visit!! Grow follies.. grow grow!!!!:bellyrubs: (ovary rub...) hehe

Sylvia, I LOVE that ovary rub! Hahaha! I lay in bed and put my hands on them to "incubate my eggies". I know, I'm a loon.
Sooooooo....I went this am for my first follie check! I'm so happy because everything's on track!
So here's the deal:
My right side is leading the pack...she measured about 6 (I think they only measure the biggest ones) at 14 (4 of them) and 13mm (2 of them)
On my left she measured about 5 at 12 and 11 mm
Basically, the u/s tech told me that once they hit 12mm they will grow about 2mm per day on these meds. Once I have 2 follies at 18mm or 3 at 17mm, we will trigger! :yeehaw:
The tech thought I would probably be back in tomorrow or Wed am for a check (and maybe every morning this week). Looks like, if her calculations are right...I could be triggering by Wednesday evening! This is INSANE! That would put me at the egg retrieval THIS WEEK! OMG! Can you tell I'm crazed?
When you asked yesterday if I could feel any pain, I didn't feel much of anything, but when I woke up this am I knew they were there! Woah!...and I'm running for Mayor of Bloat City, USA. But it's aaaaaaaall good.
Good luck tomorrow! Let me know how it all goes! I'll be thinking of you LOTS! Yay!
Mia... That is awesome!!! Glad to hear everything is on track! You have some good follies... and trust me they WILL grow everyday.
I triggered last night and went in this morning, everything looks good so far... The doctor counted 30 decent sized follicles. Now I'm just getting ready for the retrieval tomorrow. I am really excited. :)
This is so cool!! I can't wait to hear more. and I will report back about my retrieval tomorrow to give you the low down.
I am less bloated today, but OMG I felt like I would throw up this morning... and I woke up with really full boobies... I think the HCG must do that.
I am taking is easy again today, watching more movies and will veg out for a while. :)
