Rachel- I don't start stims same day as Donna. I actually start on 10/3 a couple of days later. I'm also a slow stimmer. First cycle I stimmed 10 days, second cycle I stimmed 11 days. Tentative ER is 10/15, but my luck it will get pushed out a day or two. This cycle they changed my protocol. I'm doing the microdose flare (lupron) with my gonal-f. Not sure if that will improve my stimming, but I think RE hopes for improved stimming.
Also, someone inquired previously about taking anti-anxiety while doing IVF. I have an appointment with the IVF clinics psychologist and she said she will start me on Lexapro the day before I start stimming just so I can keep the chemicals balanced during my IVF cycle. I told her I had a tough time with the second cycle dealing with anxiety and stress. I just don't want anything to prevent this cycle from working. Though I appear to be a 42+++ year old 'superwoman' who manages to dish out a decent number of quality eggs per cycle, I have to deal with a handful of those 'crazy old lady' symptoms! Whatever it takes, I'm going forward full force and there ain't no stopping me! Woot Woot!!

Melissa- You are one egg producing machine! I can't wait to hear how many are retrieved tomorrow. Sounds very promising! I bet you will go to day 5 no problem. Sounds like you will have a few frosties as well...and if you go to day 5, you know you will be left with those strongest ones, which improves your chances of getting prego!!
AFM - Went to doc this morning. It was quite humorous, this is the first doc appt DH has been on where they do an u/s and he looked white lol he said he was uncomfortable before going in and I said Hey buddy I hate it for ya but 1. you are not the one spreading your legs every 5 minutes for the doctor and 2. Lord willing if this is successful there are going to be way worse things you are going to have to experience. As you can see I am not one of the wives that says "oh its hard for him to see that or oh its hard for men" nope it was VERY uncomfortable for me when I had to be felt up the first time and I got over it  And guess what? He did and he got to see everything the beautiful follies and all
So we are seeing about 7 on each side that are ranging from 15-19 so I am very excited. My doc also says my uterine lining is at 10...he said that is good I have no experience with lining so I don't know. He will call with specific instructions this afternoon but I am taking HCG shot tonight and isn't tonight when I get to take the pg test to see if I did it correctly? If so I am pretty pumped about that :P I just want to see a BFP ya know? So ER is Tuesday and Lord wiling ET is Saturday. Ladies I cannot believe it is already here! This whole experience has been amazing and nothing too bad at all I have really enjoyed it so I hope and have been fervently praying it continues to head in that direction. I just want to see everyone from now on say :bellyrubs:

Rachel- I am glad I start stimming soon because I am super anxious to hear the results of your cycle that if I didn't have my own injections & visits with RE to keep me busy, I'd go  waiting on your results! LOL
Hope everyone has a nice week:wub:.

The difference with doing beta is that you know the numbers, if that's important to you. But either way you're getting your bfp :hooray::cabbage: so it's your call
I don't really care about the numbers. Either they go up or they don't. Knowing the exact number will not change me being PG or keeping it, right? BUT, the beauty of a beta is knowing something earlier...Unfortunately, that does not always mean the good news is here to stay, so I think I will just wait it out. Well, we'll see.. I have plenty of time before I have to worry about that. 13 days to go... :winks:
Oooooooo! That's awesome! :babydust::silly:
Thank you!
Awesome!!!! Prayers said for some super :stickyvibes:
Thanks, Kim!
RAchel - We have to take a HPT and call the doc after that. He likes to make sure it is in you properly so I took one this morning and can you believe I just grinned so wide when I saw those two lines lol. It made me so so happy.
I'm glad you got to see the lines! How fun. Just wait when in a couple weeks you will be seeing those lines again and they won't be from the trigger. :babydust1:
Congrats on the transfer - now look who's in live for trips
Wishing you all the baby dust there is lady - have a wonderful 2ww :hugs: I can't wait to see your BFP!
Thank you! RE said the chance of trips is 1%, twins 20% and a singleton is 28-30% with my age, etc.. So, really the odds are against me. No more of this negative talk, though. I'm just going to pretend it's BFP until proven otherwise.
How are you doing? Are you moving towards FET soon? :hugs:

Stimming starts Saturday then. Well, that's in no time. I really hope this time the stimming improves with the new protocol. You ARE a superwoman, and you are blessed with good, strong eggs. I'm interested to know how the Lexapro helps. My first cycle turned into a failed IUI and the second was so bad that it was cancelled and I was such a wreck through the whole thing - stressed, angry and feeling sorry for myself. This time (attempt number 3) I feel totally chilled out. I hope third time is a charm for you, too.. and that we both get knocked up already!!! :fingerscrossed:

You should have a consult set up immediately following HSG as you don't want to waste anytime. They usually make you have one AF after an HSG before doing IVF. Also, they will do some baseline testing to see how your egg reserve looks and anticipate how you will do with ovarian stimulation (what drug protocol to put you on). Hopefully they clear you for IVF quickly so you can dive right in! KUP!!!

Serena, I too went down that road after my last failed IVF and yeah, it hit me pretty hard then too! My HR heard from me this year and I am pushing real hard for them to cover the IVF meds at least. We got them to add the coverage for infertility related medical services (but they exclude any coverage for IUI and IVF), which means they pay for the b/w and u/s. That is a huge help, but we still pay a nice chunk for ER/ET plus the IVF meds. Keep pushing them. I work with health insurance underwriters and infertility is not a huge additional cost if they do a limited type of coverage (dollar limit, # cycles, add in an age limit, etc). In my case, too many limits pulls me right out of the candidacy, but it does make sense for insurance to put some limits on how they pay for IVF or the cost of insurance would sky rocket!

I work for a really large company that is based out of California... Even though I live in Ga. We have over 40,000 employees (worldwide) and by the time they break it down I figure they could get us a really nice plan for a few dollars more. I am praying that she (HR) really pushed my request on up and did not just chunk it to the side.
I will know in a couple of months because we have to make our choices for 2010, I'll let you know if they make any changes or not.

Wow, I work under similar circumstances. Our company is based out of Ohio, but I work in SC along with about 100 other employees. The larger the pool, the smaller the risk, so you are right, it should not be too expensive for a group as large as yours. I am the Account Manager in SC for our employees and I work closely with HR to look at new benefits every year at Open Enrollment, but that is all based on how the plan is running and what type of increases we have to pass onto the employees. Hopefully this was a good year and we can afford some nice enhancements like adding fertility drugs to the coverage. Let me know the outcome on your end! Very interesting...

Hope your consult goes well today. I can't think specifically of what to ask, just that you shouldn't be afraid to ask anything that's on your mind; make sure you are satisfied and clear with all the instructions. But you don't have to try to remember all the questions while you're there; you can call them anytime after your consult if you forgot to ask something. That's what they're there for. Taking notes may help too :luck:
So we don't think we'll get to start IVF when AF starts.. the money we were expecting to come from DHs job for the procedure hasn't come on time. :(
I start AF around OCT 3 and we needed the money by then and now, it doesn't look like that is a possiblity.. ughhhh So NOW I may have to wait until NOVEMBER :headbang:
I know that isn't a big deal one more month but in girl-wanting-to-get-pregnant time its AGES.
:comfort: I'm sorry you won't be getting the money in time. I know you were all excited and anxious to get started, and I agree that waiting an extra month seems like AGES, but the time WILL fly by. Think of it as more time to continue preparing mind, body and soul for your bfp. :hugs:

Wow.. so much action in here..
I started AF today and after this cycle ends, I will be starting my IVF cycle.. I am getting excited as well as scared...
Hoping to see more BFPs..
:cabbage: for AF and getting the process rolling! Good luck!
Ok ladies I had my blood work and ultrasound tomorrow I meet with the nurse to go over my protocol.I am so used to iui and having to take meds the third day of my cycle so not taking any meds by now is really throwing me off.Can anyone give me suggestions on anything I should ask the nurse?
I agree with Donna to take notes and call if you find yourself with questions later. One thing that I always double and triple check are how much of which meds to take when, and which of those need to be kept refridgerated and which should just be kept away from heat. I'm always fearful I'll screw that up, though I've been on the same meds for a few rounds. Also, where exactly to inject (stomach, leg, butt..). Good luck!!

Rachel - you transfered 3 right? I was just reading on another board I post on about a lady who's 1st round of IVF was a BFN. She is on the same schedule I have been on. They did her second round immediately after the neg test with her next AF. Anyway, they tranfered 3 embryo's and now she is 10wks preg. with triplets.
I thought of you immediately when I read that... So any signs of morning sickness yet? :)

Serena - I don't think so ... Yes, we transferred 3, but the chance is 1%.. We have names picked out just in case, but I really doubt it. If that happens, we are definitely done with TTC, though... Twins would be preferable, or just one, fat, gorgeous LO. :bellyrubs:

Hi everyone. Hope it's okay I join here. We decided we are going to start IVF instead of doing anymore IUIs with medical assistance. We have an appt with the RE today to discuss starting IVF. The RE has been wanting me to do it but I was really afraid, still am super scared but I need to do it. I'm sick of all the constant appts. I know IVF involves alot of appts and is a huge process but we're sick of the disappointment month after month. I think when AF decided to show today, that really made up my mind that I have to do this.

Oh man, you have my toes curling  That's not bad stuff, that's some great $hit  Go for it girlfriend :winks: that's bound to relax every muscle in your body  and that's gotta be a big plus. Now you have me thinking about having one last fling too before I start stimming on Thursday. Mmmmmmmm :chinscratch:
Tell me about it, frosties are the next best thing to getting your bfp; it's  how much less an FET costs than fresh. :fingerscrossed: that you get your bfp on your FET cycle; maybe in time for Thanksgiving too. Ooooh, that would be the best thing to be able to give thanks for.
:cabbage: YAY AF started, now you're even closer :hooray: It's natural to be scared, most of us were until the first shot. You're going to be alright, just try to take everything one step at a time. Hoping to see your bfp too :luck: :hugs:
Hope your consult goes well today. I can't think specifically of what to ask, just that you shouldn't be afraid to ask anything that's on your mind; make sure you are satisfied and clear with all the instructions. But you don't have to try to remember all the questions while you're there; you can call them anytime after your consult if you forgot to ask something. That's what they're there for. I got a letter in the mail on Saturday from my OB of the last 12 years. He delivered my DD and has been with me through ALL my losses. He's closing his practice as of October 1st! :shocker:

I had my second IUI today. I am sooooooooooo unhappy!
I get there and the person that I have been getting poked, prodded and jabbed by does not come in the exam room but some other woman. She introduces herself and tells me that the other nurse had a hard time doing my IUI yesterday:shocker: When was I going to be told this! She said she wasn't even sure if she gave me the complete insemnation. :wtf: Are you kidding me! I knew I felt "wet" when she was done ( I didn't feel that my first time). Yesterday's procedure was virtually painless...which I was shocked at. The nurse pract. today didn't even tell me what the count was! I was toooooooo upset! Although I read the paper and saw what the count was NOTHING was explained. After I laid there for 15 minutes the other nurse comes in just talking away. I'm in tears now. She's like what's wrong... I just told her I wish I had known I was having problems. I couldn't even say anything else to her...she left the room I got dressed and left.
*Back in July I had to go to a surgical center to get my cervix dilated because of cervical stenosis. The nurse today said she had problems with the procedure yesterday. I just upset that I should have been told this verses someone I didn't know just coming in and going up my vagina!
Help me ladies if I am wrong. I pray this cycle works because I can't even do this again!

Awwww honey, now calm down, some people just have a hard time getting the cervix to cooperate, it sounds like the nurse was a bit dingy if you ask me, dont you worry about it, your little guys are up there and you WILL get your bfp!!! I forgot to check, is this your 2nd IUI? Oh and yes the counts can very greatly with the spermies, our first iui we had a total of 11 million for both days, the last time we had a total of 43mil for the two days, talk about a big difference. All you need is one, look at Janeen, she was sooooo sure it would not work with only 4mil(I think thats what it was) and she now has her bfp!!! Think positive, this will work!!! :hugs:

okay, i have my HSG scheduled day after tomrrow i.e thursday at 11.30am.I am teriified at the thought of it, I read several painfull stories regarding this.
My infertility doc says its not necessary, as i dint have any type of infection before and when i had laprosacopy 3 years ago to remove cycst on right ovary, it was declared both my tubes were fine.
the clinic gave 6 antibiotic pills today for 3 days to avoid infection.
The 2 things that are scaring me most are pain and infection.I heard it will extremely painfull and may cause infection.
I am totally confused.WHAT DO YOU GUYS SUGGEST? I trid 2 perfect iuis, with clomid both failed.I dont have pcos and all my hormone leves came back fine. The only test left is HSG...Its killing me :ohno:

:hugs: Oh Karen, I'm so sorry! My first instinct is to tell you to get on the phone and talk to your RE's office. You should never have to walk out of a procedure (let alone an IUI) upset and/or confused. You need to explain to them your frustration and get your questions answered. It's going to be a looong and unsettling 2ww if you don't. I really encourage you to call them, honey. I'm a firm believer in being your own best advocate and if you don't take charge..no one else will. All that being said, I'm sure you got the spermies right up in there and one or more of those beautiful follies is just waiting to be "romanced". I'm prayin' for you, sweetie:hugs:

Mel- :cabbage::hooray: You ROCK!!! Can't wait to hear the report tomorrow! You will do great with a 5DT on Sunday and I know you will have some healthy frosties to go!!
Pinkgirl- :hi: and welcome!!! We are here to support you and answer any questions we can:wub:.
Uma- YAY for AF!! Let's get this party started!! This month will fly by for you and you'll be in pincushion city in no time!
Stacie- Can't wait to hear about your protocol. Just listen carefully & take notes if needed (they tend to overwhelm you with info & you can't think of questions until after you get home:wub:).
Christal- :hugs: I think you should tell your clinic that you know you will have the money, but it may be a few days or a week later than what they are asking & to see if they will work with you. I pray it all works out & you aren't forced to wait another month.
Amy- :ohno: about your fav OB. Well, the main objective is to get preggo & the rest just kinda will fall into place. You have time to start visiting OB's in the area & take your time picking one out that you feel comfy with. Plus, gives you another thing to do to occupy your time & thoughts as you approach IVF. It will all work out in the end:wub:.

Welcome!!

Thank you so much for all the warm welcomes everyone. Dr appt went great. Starting BC pills Friday and having my retrieval around Nov 2. I guess I will need all the info I can get. I honestly haven't researched IVF much because it was a spur of the moment decision to just move onto it. I am sick of the constant disappointments and all the meds. I'm sure you all know what I mean.
I'm going to read back a little tomorrow so I can try to catch up on what's going on with everyone.

:hi: pinkgirl, of course you can join here :welcome: :hugs: I hope your first cycle will be a success :fingerscrossed: :luck:
So, I'm a little freaked out right now...
I got a letter in the mail on Saturday from my OB of the last 12 years. He delivered my DD and has been with me through ALL my losses. He's closing his practice as of October 1st! :shocker:
I don't know what to do!?! I'm getting ready to start my IVF cycle, and I have no OB if it works!
There's more than enough time to find another one. I can understand your attachment to your current one because you've been with him for so many years, but you'll find another who's just as good and nice. Don't worry :hugs:

20 :shocker: :cabbage: I'm excited for you too, CONGRATS!!! I'm even more anxious now to hear today's report; I know it's going to be just as awesome.
Oh WOW! I think I would rather have the shots as well - better yet I know I would. You are the first I have heard of taking the suppositories - ouh:silly::silly:
I did supps too, just not 6 a day :shocker: I started off with 2 and when I started having pains they upped it to 3 to try to save my little bean...the rest as they say is history.
AFM - Took my last BCP today:winks: Got my meds & needles all layed out and waiting on Saturday:pokey:.
YESSSSSSSS!! The day seemed like it took forever to come huh? That's how I kinda felt on bcp and I was only on for 2 weeks. Just as I was getting sick and tired of taking them, I was almost done. So you're not shooting anything now? I started lupron while I was on bcp and I'm still shooting up while I wait to start stimms. I have my first u/s and b/w this morning, so I'd better be suppressed enough(not too much :fingerscrossed:)so I can get this show on the road tomorrow :cabbage:

Shucks, I'm gonna have a Margarita one night this week for all my sister-friends going through this difficult journey of TTC with Medical Assistance (and only the good stuff...Don Julio or Patron)! Ok, so I've been craving a special Margarita & delicious sushi and my time is almost run out, so I plan to have my one night of bad stuff before I start stims on Saturday! :winks:
Oooooo...that sounds so good. Whenever I hear someone say sushi I just really crave it!
Boy I sure do wish I had more frosties... I just called and got the quote for the price of the transfer $1927, that sure beat the price of a fresh cycle.
I guess we are looking at doing the FET in Nov/Dec - I am now waiting on AF to show and then I have to wait for her to show again before I can start the FET cycle.
I keep e-mailing our HR department; trying to get them to take out a policy that will cover more for infertility. However, all I get is, "Your request has been forwarded." I would love for them to shock me and have a really sweet package for 2010. Otherwise, this will be our last round.
I will be keeping tabs on everyone for the month of Oct all you ladies get busy growing them eggs and babies - Looking forward to all the BFP!:hugs:
That's great you have some frosties for a FET! My DH and I debated on freezing but since my insurance doesn't cover the cryopreservation we are going to not freeze this time and if it doesn't work we will freeze for the 2nd and 3rd round of IVF if we need that many. My insurance covers 3 attempts per live birth. I just hope I get enough to freeze at those times. Keep working on your HR! Hopefully they can get you some great coverage.
I converted to Decaf some time ago, but once a week I have to have a pepsi for a caffeine fix. I do sprite as much as possile, but I have to slip that caffeine in there somewhere!
I still need to curb my caffeine intake. I'm a soda junkie and I have a really hard time drinking anything other than soda. I need my coffee in the morning too. My doc says one serving of caffeine per day but I haven't been very good about that. :ohno:
So we don't think we'll get to start IVF when AF starts.. the money we were expecting to come from DHs job for the procedure hasn't come on time. :(
I start AF around OCT 3 and we needed the money by then and now, it doesn't look like that is a possiblity.. ughhhh So NOW I may have to wait until NOVEMBER :headbang:
I know that isn't a big deal one more month but in girl-wanting-to-get-pregnant time its AGES.
I'm sorry your schedule got changed. Its really frustrating to look forward to something and then have to wait again. I get impatient too!

When I did IUI's I did the Prometrium vaginal inserts. Now for IVF my RE uses Endometrium vaginal inserts. I had my choice of progesterone in oil shots or these inserts but I opted for convenience. I was really worried about the PIO. Now if I have to do this again I will be changing to the shots b/c my insurance covers the PIO shots and I had to pay for the Endometrium out of pocket. That was the only med that wasn't covered.

LOL! You are experiencing the effects of the trigger shots and hormones... Just want you to know your not alone, I told my husband if the embryo's had been transfered back I would have sworn I was pg. My boobs where huge and I had all the classic signs of being pg.

:hi:
Thanks ladies for all your input and encouragement. I talked it over with hubby and we agreed to just pray on it and give it to God.
But we did baby dance last night :D
I don't want to call them and express how I feel because for one I don't think I can speak to them and be calm about it. For two, I feel as if I am in a position of I need them because we can't get pregnant without medical attention.
So I'm calm... I can't dwell on a negative situation. Because like many of you said it only takes one! So I am going to trust and believe that we got the one!
I go Monday for my progestrone check....
Have a great day ladies!
Any updates on Janeen?

I'm not doing enough to keep my mind busy, that's for sure. Met with friends for lunch the last couple days, went to a museum today.. Luckily DH is being ultra-sweet (minus making fun of my fat clothes) and has been taking me out to dinner every night and doing his own ironing. :winks:

I had cramps off and on for a few days after the retrieval. The ovaries fill back up with fluid, supposedly, so get sort of back to the size they were pre-retrieval. It will pass. I feel something down there here and there, but it's so much better now. Waiting for the next update!! :fingerscrossed:

Has everyone's re told them how many embryos that they plan to put back our re said 3 for us I am just wondering what everyone else has been told?
I had 3 put back in..I think normally RE does only 2 for my age, but because I haven't been such a great responder to the stims, he went for 3. Usually the better the response the greater chance of success.. So by transferring more eggs he's upping my odds. Everyone is different, though.

Rss73 - I loved Twilight, I read it a few months ago. I read Confessions of a Shopaholic and it was a funny light read. Not sure if you're interested in the silly romantic types of books. I also liked "can you keep a secret" by Sophie Kinsella.
Gerbme - That is amazing!!!! 16 fertilized is great. Keep us updated on the progress. When is your transfer?
So I have a silly question, my RE told us that she will put 2 embryos back in, what is the average embryos the RE's put back in you?
I did get my calendar. I'm starting BCP Friday, Lupron Oct 13 and then stims Oct 23rd. I'm freaked out because I took 75iu of Follistim for my injectables cycle and had 3 mature follies on the left and 1 on the right side. I can only imagine what's going to happen on 300iu of Follistim which is what my RE is putting me on. YIKES!
Soooo, how bloated am I going to get? Am I going to need new clothes? I'm going to work out as much as possible which I don't do very well right now and eat much better so I can try not to gain too much. I really don't want to go find new clothes for work yet. lol. I know I'm being silly but I hate shopping for clothes.

When I was on Progestrone suppositories for my IUI cycle, I was so bloated, I could not button up my jeans and zip them up.. I was sitting at work with my pant unbottoned...

Pink Girl - Thanks for the book recommendations. I wrote them down and will check them out tomorrow.
& to Pray2god - Sorry, ladies, no advice on bloating. It sucks, though. I feel like I have 2 massive slabs of fat added to the back of my thighs..and yes, my pants are about to burst. And my poor boobs... DH leaves for a business trip next week and I'm going to lounge in sweats all week.. Usually drinking tons of water helps (and avoiding salty food), but despite my 3+ liters a day, I still feel huge.
On the upside, if I get my BFP, then I won't really care about feeling huge (and I imagine it will settle down at some point). And if I get a BFN, then the bloating will go away with AF..

Rss - Check out Something Borrowed, Something Blue and there are 2 others this author wrote. They are all by Emily Giffin. I read Something borrowed and am now reading something blue. Good luck.
Okay, I'm bored at work. Sitting in on this conference call since 10am and I am dying to leave work. Stupid AF is kicking my butt hardcore yesterday and today. :headbang:
So I'm still reading back a few pages. It's taking me a while but at least it's keeping me busy on this meeting call here at work. lol.

Melissa- You just keep on amazing us. We are so proud of you!! And we hav to give a shout out :loveshower: to DH who came through with his :happysperm:. I just know you are going to be blessed this cycle. I can't wait to hear the progress reports as you approach your 5dt on Sunday. It all sounds very promising. :babydust:
Rachel- Ok, don't go slipping in the "...if I get a BFN". No negative :frown: thoughts allowed when you're in the 2ww! With those 3 beautiful embryo's tucked inside, you are bound to get your BFP this cycle:wink:. You even said so yourself that this has been a fantastic cycle compared to your prior experiences, so think positive thoughts only! I believe your chances are awesome this time and you will get a BFP. If you are worried about age, let me put in my two cents. I think they need to move the advanced maternal age to start at 38, not 35. We all know that everyone is unique and the information and advise we get regarding infertility is primarily based on statistics. That only proves the likeliness, but sometimes we beat the odds. Can I get an AMEN!!!
Pinkgirl- So glad you had some suggestions on lighter reading for Rachel (I tend to read the heavy stuff, so I would have been no help to Rachel who really, really needs to preoccupy herself these days:eyebrow:).
Stacie- I'm an old lady according to everything I've seen for my age group (41+), and because my chances are sooooo small for success (according to statistics), my doc throws the guidelines out the window. As a matter of fact, if I can get 6 embryo's to stick around for 3 days after retrieval, she will give them a nice home inside my uterus. Hee hee. I've had from 3-4 transferred with my prior cycles, but I'm going for the big 6 this time:eek:. The sky is the limit!
Donna- Need an update cycle buddy...what's the deal from today's b/w & u/s? Are you starting stims tomorrow???

I am almost 40 years old and ashamed to admit that Twilight was by first (reading for pleasure) book eva! I read it in 2 days and went and bought the other 3 and finished them all in 3 weeks. That was about 2 weeks ago. Guess what book I am reading now? Eclipse (book #3) I could not bare to lose Edward now so I am rereading the series again. I am trying to take it slower this time so it will last me until Nov 20th, the day New Moon hits theatres. I feel like an obsessed teen-ager all over again!

Rhonda, you are so sweet. YES, I know that I have to be positive..but I'm just trying to keep it real. We see a lot of people that are shattered by the process, and I've been close to that before. I try to keep myself in check, though, and view it from a more stoic, medical/statistical viewpoint..for my own sanity. BUT, for now, I know - POSITIVE VIBES!! DH gave me a little lecture on statistics last night and said that the chances given are just a mean and don't take into account all the lifestyle challenges people also have (stress, jobs, etc). So far I am doing everything right and I don't have anything to be stressed about and that's all I can do and hope for. :fingerscrossed:

I have to say I was pretty disappointed with the movie; hopefully New Moon will be better.

Don't give in!!! 5 days away is nothing!! Wait at least the recommended days before POAS, if you have to do that instead of beta, so that you have a better chance of an accurate reading. I would test every day if I could, but that would give me stress and now we need to be stress-free. :luck:

I thought he just pricked to see where he wanted it but that was the actual shot! But now that I said that let me say I don't think its going to be the shot that hurts its going to be the after effects  I woke up this morning and instead of aww my abdomen I thought ow my butt! lol but I don't care.

Rachel- I agree that we do have to be cautiously optimistic so we don't get crushed with disappointment if things don't turn out the way we hope & pray for...so, I respect that you are prepared for either scenario. However, I want you to be REALLY EXCITED this time because you have a really good reason to be:wub:! As for my not looking so old, well, I guess I'm just lucky. The pics of me & hubby were both taken this summer. I have been told by so many friends from school that I haven't aged much. I think some factors that contribute to aging are smoking, alcohol, substance abuse, sun, poor diet & stress. I plead NOT GUILTY. LOL. Seriously, I've lived a healthy life (other than my craving for chocolate which is almost daily and my occasional night on the town). Most of my life has been pretty stress free until these past few years dealing with disappointments over TTC.

You should get your AF after you stop the BCP. I stopped my BCP 2 days after I started Lupron shots and I got my AF 2 days after that. Of course some people are different.

Oh that means that if it comes before the 9th I'll be starting stims sooner and hopefully have an earlier retrieval and transfer...if all goes well that is! They have been busy doing transfers so she was about to call me but she said all 16 are dividing. They grade them from 1-5, 1 being the best 5 being the worst, over half of mine are graded 1s and 2s and the rest are 3s. ummm lets see.....I think that is the jist of what she said. This part is over my head lol I don't know that much about the grading and dividing etc. but at least they are being graded well.
So she said tomorrow will show more and she still said it looks like Sunday transfer. Stacie- I did gonal-f with ganirelix my first two cycles. The ganirelix was used later after about 5-6 days of stims in my case to keep me from Oing. I think they watch your estradiol (b/w) and start you on it when the numbers start getting pretty high. You should google the repronex to see what it's used for or just call the pharmacist or your RE. Get used to asking a lot of questions!! It's so easy to feel lost in these complex cycles, but you need to be comfortable with the process and it's best if you have a good understanding of everything so you don't worry.
Amy- Only 4 more days!!!

Ok, so today was my appointment with the head lady (psychologist) who does IVF counseling to make sure patients aren't freakin out before (or during) the process. I am starting Lexapro today (my chill pill) & she said it's possible I may even produce more eggs this cycle with the help of the Lexapro. I hope she's right! She also said she was going to let me do 1 injection per day vs. 2 (YAY) by doing the full 450iu per shot (normally we do 225iu in the am and 225iu in the pm of the gonal-f). Plus, she is going to let me do the first 3 days of stimming in my thigh...subcutaneous!!!:hooray::hooray: I am SOOOO DARN RELIEVED! What a stress breaker for me. Last cycle all of my shots were intramuscular, in the booty, and it about killed me! They decided to be extra aggressive last cycle and it didn't result in any more eggs than the subQ shots!! So, I got my wish and if my numbers look good on stim day 3, they will let me do all my stims subQ this time:hooray::hooray:. This is a really big deal for me.
Ok, now that I've had someone to share that with outside of DH I feel much better. So, she also informed me that they had three 40+ age patients last IVF cycle and 2 got prego!! These were first time IVFers. And get this, one lady only had 1 embryo transferred and the other only had 2 trasnsferred. They both hav been released back to their OB's so they made it to their 2nd ultrasound & the babies are doing fine so far!!
Plus she said their office has always had success with IVIG!!
Ok, ladies, I am seriously having my sushi & margarita by tomorrow night. I probably will go tonight because I am feeling beside myself!!! Thanks for listening:wub:.

Rhonda / Donna - I can't believe it's already time for you guys to start stimming! :hooray: Praying that this cycle turns out to be a huge success!!!
Nothing much to report on me. I should get AF in a few weeks and then I'll start my BCPs. I talked to the nurse the other day and it looks like the RE wants me to take vitamin e this cycle along with the delestrogen and PIO injections.
:luck: to everyone!
:ty: I'm :fingerscrossed: that you will have success too on your next FET
Has everyone's re told them how many embryos that they plan to put back our re said 3 for us I am just wondering what everyone else has been told?
So I have a silly question, my RE told us that she will put 2 embryos back in, what is the average embryos the RE's put back in you?
My last cycle I only had 2 embies so they both were transferred. My center will transfer a max of 3 (or so they say). I'm sure for women like me who are of "advanced maternal age: (oh how I hate that overused phrase) :headbang: they'll transfer more if you insist.
Enjoy the ride pinkgirl and hang on tight because you're going to be going up and down  Don't be scared, I'm not trying to frighten you; you'll be alright. I pray that you'll respond well to the meds and have a great fert report when the time comes. You mightn't get too bloated that you'll need new clothes, I didn't. But even if you do, just remember it's all for a great cause and after you get your bfp, you'll need new clothes anyway :P :fingerscrossed:
Donna- Need an update cycle buddy...what's the deal from today's b/w & u/s? Are you starting stims tomorrow???
Morning ladies! So today was my first Lupron shot. OK so I have a question. My protocol says that somewhere in the next 9 days I should get my period. If it doesn't come by day 9 I'm still to call to schedule my Lupron eval. So my question is, how long after starting Lupron did it take to get your period?
AF didn't come until 12 days after I started lupron, which was about 4 or 5 days later than RE had expected it to come, after stopping BCP.

OH really! Awesome! I'm still taking BCP with the Lupron for the next 2 days. Oh that means that if it comes before the 9th I'll be starting stims sooner and hopefully have an earlier retrieval and transfer...if all goes well that is! My tentative dates were based on my period starting 9 days after beginning Lupron. Oh now I'm super stoked! :hooray:
Down girl, you sound like you're about to pop with excitement  I hope AF will come when she's supposed to because she has the lousiest timing sometimes :luck:
Well, I'm T-minus 4 days to starting Lupron! :shocker:
Monday morning I go in for bloodwork to make sure I've ovulated, and start the shots Monday night. I'm sure the b/w will show ovulation, because, man I've had some "O" pain today!
Anyone have experience with taking Lupron after ovulation with NO bcps first?
T-4 sounds good, T would be even better :P hang in there, it'll get here For my first IVF, I did lupron/suprefact after O; I actually started CD 21 but it took me 5 or 6 weeks to get to ER. I pray with all my might that you won't have to wait anywhere near as long. I was probably just a tough cookie to crack :P
The Embryologist called and out of my 20 eggs 19 were mature!!!!!! Then 16 have fertilized :hooray::hooray::hooray::hooray: I am floating on cloud 9 right now!!!! I realize some may die off but at least we have a good number to start with  And I am so proud of DH's men :cabbage:
Thank you for the prayers God has definitely been with us throughout this whole process!!!!
Well I got tired of waiting on the embryologist lol so I called.
Oh another thing she said is by now they should divide into 3-5 cells and a majority of mine are sitting at 4 so that is good! :cabbage: Yay! This all feels very surreal for me....like this is somebody else that I am updating...its weird lol
I told you that you're fert report would be rocking :cabbage: That's some fantastic news Mel, I'm really happy for you. I'll keep praying that your eggies progress as they should. You're going to have tons of frosties, that's for sure :hooray:
So, I got my wish and if my numbers look good on stim day 3, they will let me do all my stims subQ this time:hooray:.
Me, me, I want some Lexapro too  anything for more eggs  Well young lady, I sure hope you get your wish to have all your meds subQ because IM's are no fun. OUCH!! You know, I feel so positive for you and this cycle, especially with the IVIG. I'm not just saying so, but I really do believe this will work in your favor. That and a few little words to the Man upstairs and BAM!!! you're gonna be knocked up this time for sure  Enjoy your sushi and margarita night, it'll be your last for the almost a year :cabbage:

Donna- Can't wait to hear how your appt went today (b/w, u/s). KUP. I am on the micro flare lupron protocol, so it starts with stims, not before. It's not the long lupron protocol. It is different than what most folks do with lupron. I hope you start stims tomorrow! I'm right behind you lady:hooray:.
Yay for all the late Oct/early Nov cycles!!! So many ladies going through IVF these couple of months. Lot's of baby dust to everyone!!! :babydust1::babydust1:
Donna....where are you? We need an update.
Donna...where are you? Everything ok?
I'm right here :P OK, so I had my first u/s and b/w yesterday. U/S wasn't all that great because my RE said he saw some small specks which he is assuming are follicles, and he identified 2 small ones. He kinda threw it out there that I can wait on another cycle to see if I'll have more antral follicles, because of course what you start with at your first u/s is about all you'll have for the entire cycle. I guess he was trying to see if I'd bite, but I've chosen to continue with what I have and hope for the best. Doesn't seem as though somebody's gonna have any frosties  I'll be ecstatic if I even have 3 mature ones to transfer this time (only had 2 last time). My lining was 3 mm but I guess it's early days yet so I shouldn't start worrying.
The nurse called me today to confirm my b/w came back ok and E2 is 64, so I start stimming tonight. I wish I could use those cute little lupron needles to stimm. I'm sure not looking forward to those harpoons :ohno: :headbang:

That's really good news about the Lexapro. This is my first cycle of IVF so I'm not really stressed yet.....I'm sure I will be when I start stimming. You'll have to let us know how the Lexapro works for you.

I've had a question for the longest, and just remembered it now that I've finished jabbing that 10 inch needle :P in my thigh (which is now throbbing like heck). My RE and every stim injection tip say to pull up a bit on the plunger after you've jabbed yourself but before you push the med in; if you see blood in the syringe, withdraw the needle, change it and poke again at a different site. Does anyone do that? After I injected the med and pulled out, I saw some blood in the syringe and remembered the instructions; but there's no way in H-E-fiddle sticks I'd even do that if I'd noticed it before pushing the med into my thigh. I just want to get over with the jab as fast as I can  Does anyone know why we have to check for blood each time? :dunno:

:ty: Traci. I'm stimming with Menopur, maximum dose...1 vial of solvent to 6 vials of powder. I'm down to half my dose on the lupron/suprefact; I do 12.5 units instead of 25. Next Wednesday I go back for u/s and b/w.

Rhonda - I'm glad that you got the Lexapro if you think you need it, although for us you are the voice of reason and it saddens me a little to hear you felt so stressed out last time. I'm a big believer in getting help when you need it, though. And if it produces more eggs - oh my, we are all going to start taking that!! AND, :hooray: how great that you are down to 1 shot/day sub-cut. I had one cycle of just injections in '08 that were booty injections and it was horrible. I'm praying you get to stay sub-cut this cycle!!
Donna - I'm hoping and praying you get some big, juicy follicles to work with. Hooray for finally being at the stimming stage! :cabbage: You are supposed to check for blood with any type of injection. Why? Not sure, but I assume that it's not really helpful to inject into a vessel if it's supposed to go into muscle. Not to mention the pain factor. I was lucky this time around and had no bleeding or bruising (but it was all sub-cut), but last time I hit vessels a few times and it was awful pain. I agree with you, though, in that I'm a counting one-two-three-close-eyes-and-jab-it-in-fast kind of girl! :winks: GL girlie and can't wait for the update.
AFM - 5dp2dt! Nothing really to report. I've got a full day today of errands and meeting people, though, so the day should fly. And, it's the weekend. :cabbage: Happy Friday everyone!

What my nurse told me about checking for blood is that if you pull up on the plunger and you see blood in the syringe then you've hit a vein or something like that in there and the medicine would go directly into your bloodstream fast where you want it to go into the muscle itself and kind of work its way into your system. I'm only doing intramuscular with the HCG trigger so I can see where they would be concerned with timing and that getting into your system too fast since that is timed with the egg retrieval. I'm sure there are other reasons.

Good morning all :-) I am back at work today (feeling pretty rough but doing ok).
Rhonda - That is awesome news that you do not have to do all shots in the bootie. My toosh(sp?) hurts pretty bad lol I can't imagine doing all back there.
Donna - Yes. My mother and my husband have done the shots so far and I made sure both of them remembered to do that. The nurse didn't make TOO big of a deal over it she said most people don't but its better if you do.
I should have an update on the kiddos in a couple of hours.
I hope everyone is staying calm and healthy

41TTC- Aww thanks. Well the Clomid and Injectables were already a roller coaster, I can't even imagine how crazy IVF is going to be but I'm ready for the experience and I'm ready for any weight gain. I'm borderline already needing new pants, so I'm just going to get a pair just in case I have days when I'm really bloated. I'm terrified of one thing. lol. I was on 75iu of Follistim during my injectables cycle, I had 3 mature follies on the left and 1 on the right. Well I'm going to be on 300iu of Follistim with IVF as well as HCG and Lupron. That's going to be crazy. lol. I got bloated with 75iu of Follistim, I can't imagine what's going to happen with all these meds. lol. Oh well, I can't wait to get started!!!! :cabbage: I'm expecting my meds shipment today, I'm scared to see how big the box is going to be. The Dr ordered so much stuff.... including valium and antibiotics and some steroid. That's going to be lovely ride with all those.
I think you will all get a kick out of this. So DH told me that if we have to we'll do IVF back to back. I was like "EXCUSE ME?" He thinks that if the first doesn't work that I will get right back into it. Ummm shouldn't I decide what I want to do with my body and Ummmm, won't I need a break? And BESIDES, I WILL GET A BFP ON THE FIRST TRY... I will get my BFP, I will get my BFP. Sorry I'm chanting over here. lol. :cabbage:

Pinkgirl - awww DH's ....they are so clueless sometimes! I think they get ahead of the game too often and don't realize that this medicine really does take a toll on your body. But depending on your health/age etc. you may not have to have a lot of meds the whole time. Mine got dropped dramatically.
My DH pretty much lets me make all calls. He is not really one for showing ANY emotion so I have to look at his eyes, then I can tell excitement..nervousness....happiness etc. Right now he is more nervous than anything and I am the one that is excited. I guess it is good we have both emotions instead of both being nervous!

I am glad you all are doing so well... I was off work yesterday for our phone appt with our RE. He really did not have much to say about our my 2nd round of IVF except that it was better than the 1st round, at least we got a positive even though it didn't last. I asked a ton of questions and he offered to refer me to another doctor if I wanted to; but he did not see why we should not move right on into the frozen cycle. I know we are going to and from the way I have it figured out I should have my next cycle around Oct. 27th so that will be my next start. My RE's office just act like money grows on trees... If any of you are in the Atlanta Ga area they are running a special - up to 2 round of IVF for the cost of 1. There are some small print to it, but if anyone is intersted I will see if I can find the link for you.
Rhonda - I am so happy for you, I was taking tramadol prior to starting IVF and went off of it since it is not safe to take during pregnancy. Maybe I should be on the Lexapro. You know I will be praying for you.
Donna - yes you are suppose to pull back to make sure you are not in a vein. If you are when you pull back you will know, because you will get an immediate flash of blood. After my injections I would say I would bleed a little on appx 1/2 of them. I think that is normal. I am so happy you are getting started and I pray this is the one for you as well.
Mel - have you bought any hpt yet? LOL!
Well I wish everyone a happy and safe weekend... may those of you in your 2ww enjoy your time there.:hugs:

Me too! But my RE doesn't do back to back IUIs. He just demands that we go home and BD 24 hours later. It must just be an office policy thing with them.
In other news, AF is due tomorrow, unless the clomid has something to say about that, and I'm absolutely not going to POAS until Sunday, and I have absolutely no pg symptoms. I just hope for it with every bone in my body.

:wub:Hi there :-) I just got the call from the doc. Like I said yesterday they "grade" them 1-5, 1 being best 5 being worst.
5 are Grade 1
4 are Grade 2
3 are Grade 3
3 are Grade 4
1 is Grade 5 - This one "arrested". I guess they don't discard it because it could just be slow but most likely not. So right now I guess you can say we have 15 which is still awesome and 9 of those are perfect.
This is the part I still don't understand fully but I guess they way they "grow" is by dividing. She told me 11/15 are perfect division. They are 8 celled. (Don't ask me what that means I am clueless lol).
If we just have the 9 make it that are Grade 1 and Grade 2 that will be A ok with me. Although I did get kind of emotional a couple of days ago (which could be the progesterone shots lol) but to me they really do have my "babies" right now. Do you know how excited that makes me. Oh gosh I have to quit typing that I just started crying haha.
Thank you Ladies for all your prayers. Please continue them I know God is carrying us right through this process

Mel- Your babies are sounding pretty perfect to me:wub:. I am amazed at their persistent progress. You got some healthy ones there! By this afternoon, maybe most of them will split to 11+ cells. I am sure you will be pleased with the final report right before they do your transfer. Can't wait to hear how many make it to freeze. Best of luck tomorrow!!
Serena- I hear you on the whole starting again & more money, more money, more money! That is why we've had to put 5-8 months between cycles...to get our money together to start all over again. Ughh!! Well, I'm glad you have minimized costs with the FET so you can go ahead & get started back right away:wub:.
Donna- You will wake those follicles up when you start shooting up & they will surprise you in the end:wub:. Tell the docs to be as aggressive as reasonably possible to get those follicles stimulated & growing! We can do this together cycle buddy (sister-friend)!! You lean on me, I'll lean on you:wub:.
Rachel- Another day down!!! Getting closer:wub:.
PinkGirl- I like your chant:winks:...your excitement is contagious!
Amy- 3 more days...
Stacie/Traci/Pinkgirl - Looking forward to getting to know you ladies through your upcoming cycles!! Best of luck to everyone:bellyrubs:
Ladies...sisters...thank you all for sharing in my excitement yesterday:wub:. I really needed to get that good feeling before I starting this cycle. I love to encourage others, but I do fall short at times when it comes to my own situation. Because I tend to internalize my emotions, RE feels the Lexapro will help to keep everything calm on the inside. That is the whole point, to not allow myself to get overwhelmed with the build-up. Some things that bothered me more than I expressed last cycle was dealing with the IM injections (twice a day) through 11 days of stimming & then once a day with the progesterone in the 2ww; hearing they got 8 eggs when I was convinced the IM protocol and extra day of stimming would surely produce more eggs than my first cycle; and the kicker, the beta at 16 days past retrieval because day 14 was a Saturday. There were days that I felt pretty defeated & turning the emotions on & off was a bit trying for me...hence the Lexapro this cycle:wub:. I feel really good right now and I hope that will show in my end results this cycle. If I get 6 eggs...or 12+ eggs, I'm going to be happy because the IVIG will increase my chances for one to implant and that's all that really matters...not the numbers.

Rhonda - Its easier to show others support and tell them to hold their head up but then walk with our head down! Why is that?!?! Just do everything you can do and leave the rest in God's hands.
Ok Ladies, these progesterone shots, do they give you pg symptoms? Seems like I heard that and I have been so nauseated all morning! I feel hungry but I'm scared to eat anything!

Donna ~ Sorry to hear the injection last night was painful! I'm got my :fingerscrossed:, heck, everything crossed that you will have a great response this time!
Serena ~ :hugs: The end of October will be here before you know it!

What is IVIG if you don't mind me asking? Sorry I'm a little clueless and trying to understand everything right now. lol.
Thanks. I like to chant when I feel like I'm getting sad or depressed... It helps turn my mood around. I'm a little goofy, don't mind me. :cabbage:
By the way, my name is Dena. You can call me by my name if you like. I don't know if I told you guys, DH and I are 27 yrs old. We've been trying since last June and I finally starting going to the Dr's and RE in March. In May I was put on thyroid meds for overactive thyroid and Parlodel for my high prolactin. Everything has been normal, especially the Prolactin since I started the meds. RE says there is no reason for me not getting pregnant now with 3 perfect cycles of Clomid where I had 5-6 mature follies each month and 1 perfect cycle of Injectables with 4 mature follies... I don't have a progesterone problem at all, it's always super high. Who knows anymore. I'm just praying that IVF will give us our miracle baby.
I know alot of you have been trying for wayyyyyy longer than DH and I and I just want to give you all :hugs::hugs::hugs: I can't even imagine how much harder it is when you are trying for years without success. I pray for each one of you to have your little miracles as well. Even though we have been trying for over a year now, I was ready for over a year before that but DH wasn't really ready for kids yet... So I've been waiting impatiently and patiently at different times. :winks: I have definitely learned alot going through this process and it has definitely made my relationship with my DH much stronger (Even though it was already strong to begin with). I Thank God for everything he's given us and done for us, even including the TTC stuff. I think we all just need to be as positive as possible. I know how hard it is to always stay positive and I'm the same way, I am positive like crazy for others and when it comes to myself, I have my ups and downs.

Dena - you and I have a lot in common. I am 26 DH is 27. He was ready from the day we got married and I was the one who was not ready. Then after a year we got testing and there are issues on both sides but mainly his. I often think that God put us together mainly because of this reason alone. You know I think would anyone else be so easy going and wiling to accept what life has handed us as DH? Or would they leave me if I was the only one with issues? We have spent so many nights crying in each other's arms and I feel like we are both are going to go crazy if this works out! If it doesn't well....we have handled a lot and i feel like we can handle anything life hands us!

Gerbeme - I really hope this works out for you. When is your embryo transfer? I will totally be praying for you! I can't wait to see your BFP. :hugs: Did you do the ICSI or whatever it's called? I think DH's morphology isn't very good and the RE is having us do that with our IVF which is totally fine with me.
Well don't think that a man would have left you if you were the only one with issues... I had issues and DH did not, granted, I feel that my hormones got all screwed up from BC pills but still. He would never blame me and he leaves all the decisions up to me but he fully 100% supports me in anything I decide. On Sunday I was crying to him that I was so sick of all the appts and I just wanted a break. He told me that it was my choice to make if I wanted to do another round of Injectables after I did the first round last month or take time off. Well Tuesday when AF showed her ugly face, it clicked to me that I just wanted to move onto IVF and quit with all the stuff that obviously wasn't working for me. I made an appt with the RE for that day and called DH and told him my decision. lol. He said he'd do anything I wanted and was on board. Luckily we had talked about IVF alot and I wasn't sure I wanted to do it, but when AF showed her face.... my decision was already made. lol. I'm just thankful that our DH's support us during this stressful heartbreaking time. It definitely makes us stronger. The cool thing is, I get a break for 2 weeks while I'm on BC pills and I'm excited for that.

Dena I have been doing acupuncture since about February/March. I love it! It helps with stress and your uterine lining
So I can vent for just one second?!?! Ok I was at work Monday and then out Tues, Wed and Thurs back today. So I am limping. I can't help it I have this huge pain in my a@@!!!! So when anyone says Oh we missed you blah blah anything like that or asks about my limping I just say oh had a little medical procedure and then say I am fine to end the conversation. It is obvious I am not sharing any more information. Well this one guy peeks his head in my office and says "So what was the medical procedure" and I sat there smiling like for a good 5 minutes thinking he is totally joking! And I said "its personal" and he said "well its none of my business I just wanted to know" You have got to be kidding me! The nerve of some people!!!!! Especially asking about a medical procedure! Who raised you! ugh anyway that flew all over me :ohno:

Mel- That guy was simply a jerk with no manners! You must be jumping up & down with excitement over the success of your stims/ER. Also, since DH was the one who had issues, and considering your youthful age & how well you did with egg production/embryo development, your BFP is pretty much a given. You just need to take good care of yourself from here on out! I think this is a wrap and you will have many future siblings on ice!
Amy- I had sushi last night (couldn't wait), but decided to wait until Friday for my Margarita. So me & DH will have drinks, play a game of pool and watch a movie on the big screen tonight. Just hang out:-)
Dena- Thanks for giving us a background & we like to be silly too, so you fit right in:wub:. IVIG is intraveneous immunoglobulin (drug therapy given intravenous) to address immunological disorders/deficiencies. I have a dx of implantation failure. My RE said both of my prior IVF cycles were very good & yet they both failed, so she recommended additional testing which we did. I had two abnormal results which indicated I have an immuno-deficiency. So, this treatment should balance all that out so my little ones can actually have a chance at implanting. We do ICSI and assisted hatching with our cycles along with baby aspirin, prednisone & lovenox shots. It's quite a protocol and now we add in IVIG once before transfer and again if I get positive beta.
Ok ladies, tomorrow is u/s and b/w for me & if all goes well I start stims tomorrow!! :hooray:

Oh wow, thanks for all the details on it. I always wonder if our problem is whether the sperm meets the egg to create an embryo or if the embryo gets created and it just doesn't implant every single time I've been on all these other meds. I never realized they can do testing to check all that out. Very good to know. That's really great to know that they are doing all they can for you especially if you've had a great response and everything looked great with retrieval and transfer. Good luck, You are in my prayers hun.

Dena- IVF is one of the more detailed assisted reproduction techniques, and the more expensive. The neat thing is you are given fertilization reports after your eggs are retrieved and mated with DH's swimmers. You get reports from the embryologist on how well your eggs and sperm performed, and then how well your embryo's develop. Many embryologists will even give you pics of your embryo's that make it to transfer. It's way cool. Your embryo's are graded so they can give you an idea of your chances at success. If you produce a lot of eggs (like Mel), then RE may recommend a 5dt, instead of 3dt. It's kind of a process of elimination for the weak embryo's so they know the ones chosen for your transfer are the ones most likely to implant & turn produce a pregnancy. Older patients (like me) generally have 3dt as the embryo's may not make it to day 5 and they may have a better chance to survive back in the uterus.
Everyone is unique in their situations, but one thing we all have in common....we are all very strong women who are true to heart in our desires to become new moms. God bless you all!!!

Rachel- One week down and one to go (or close to that anyway)!! Have a relaxing weekend, but find other stuff to focus on if you can. Wishing you lots of :stickyvibes:...
Donna- Be faithful in your drug habits this weekend...and no blood in the syringe (open your eyes when you jab that needle in)!! Don't have me fly to Jamaica to administer them myself!! :pokey: That's what cycle buddies are for, right???

Awww, thanks:-) I agree that me & DH make a fab pair (hee hee). The sushi was great...had my fav...Pink Dragon. I especially love to eat sushi with sushi lover friends so we can order like 5-6 specialty rolls & I get some of everything:drool:. I do not plan to give up my sushi rolls if I get prego, but I will eat them sparingly and only at the top rated sushi bars in my city. I've read lots of articles about the possible risks of sushi for pregnant women and it all depends on the handling of the fish. Most sushi is not really fresh, it's frozen fish they thaw out, which makes it safe. If it was truly fresh fish, there are reasons to be cautious. I hope you get to have some soon (but I will stop making you  talking about it)!!

Hmmm' I can't wait for them to retrieve my eggs so I can get the reports from the embryologist! I'm super excited now just because I want to hear how the eggies and spermies are doing. lol. :cabbage:
I guess we'll see what happens come November. I just got all my meds in the mail, I think it's all my meds. lol. OMG, it looks crazy! lol. They gave me these crazy needles like the lab uses to draw blood from my arm, I don't know where the heck that's going to go! But there is no way I'll be able to give myself that shot with that monster needle. I hope thats the needle for the progesterone or something. lol. For some odd reason they sent me 2 Ovidrels but it was listed as 1 on the receipt I think. I dont mind giving myself the Follistim, all the other shots are going to be a challenge but I'll do anything I have to for my November miracle. :winks:

Oh lots to update lol. First of all did go anywhere last night. After my mom gave me my progesterone shot I went to go get chicken fingers because nothing sounded good...pretty much a baked potatoe is all that sounded good so I went and did that ate one potatoe one chicken finger and still felt nautious. Well I took all my many pills. After about an hour I took a zofran because I still felt like poop like as soon as I tasted the zofran I ran to the bathroom lol oh geez! Is this my reaction to the progesterone? Because my body got rid of everything but afterwards I felt good woke up this morning and was nautious all over again but I don't mind. I feel like I am "preparing"
So update on my babies:
1 more arrested :-(
So now we have 14.
1 embryo is 14 cell
1 embryo is 17 cell. These are the slower pace ones.
12 embryos are morula and 7 of those 12 are Grade 1 :hooray::hooray::hooray::hooray: I know the embryologist must think I am a nut because I go crazy on the phone with her! I have set up my acupuncturist for tomorrow so at 8:30 a.m. my babies will be back with me  Ahh cannot wait!!!!

Rhonda - Did you have that margarita yet? Sounds so yummy. I had a fruity sour cocktail (don't worry, it was a 'virgin') at a restaurant last night and I pretended it was a margarita. It was delicious!
AFM - Nothing to report, other than I've been a raging b*tch to my poor DH. It's the progesterone, or the estrogen, God only knows. All I know is that I am VERY easily irritated. And I feel bloated and miserable. I went shopping today, though, and that helped, although if I get PG I won't be able to fit into any of it soon. I'll just take that chance. Tomorrow begins my 1ww. If I get 6 eggs...or 12+ eggs, I'm going to be happy because the IVIG will increase my chances for one to implant and that's all that really matters...not the numbers.
3 days to go for me!
I'm scared, excited, and nervous...it's almost here! :)
Dena - I did all of mine with ICSI and my transfer is Sunday. And I will GLADLY accept any prayers you offer!!!
Kimmie....you threw up huh :winks: MS here we come :bellyrubs: I'm right behind you girl!
Big Sloppy :hugs: all around!!!

Dena- Maybe you are seeing some "mixing needles" in your package! The progesterone needles are big also, but the rest should all be small (except mixing needles if you have any meds that require mixing, like gonal-f single vial 75iu). Good luck!
Kimmie- Sounds like MS to me!! 2 more days:hooray:.
Amy- 2 more days:hooray:
Rachel- I ended up with a huge headache last night and missed out on the margarite:shocker:. So disappointed, but it must have worked out that way for a reason:winks:. I'll be having a virgin drink like you to get by soon!
Mel- Fabulous report :cabbage:(as usual)...we can't wait to hear how tomorrow goes:hugs:!!
Donna- When is your next u/s & b/w? How are the shots going?
Kim- Thanks for the love:wub:.
Ok, so today I woke up with that same killer headache, but dragged myself to my stim day 1 u/s & b/w. I was given the green light, but I didn't even ask about # follicles or size, or E2 level. Take my first injection tonight of the lupron (microdose) then start gonal-f/lupron/low dose hcg in the am. So, by morning I'm full blast on stim day 2. I don't go back until Tuesday 8am to get a progress report. I promise to get the details on that visit. Hopefully this lingering headache will go away before tomorrow. Hope everyone is having a productive & relaxing weekend!! Much love...Rhonda

I'm sorry to hear about the headaches. I hope you feel better.
But :hooray: for being in the stimming game. Don't worry so much about not getting numbers from your first appt -- the next one will have better info anyway. :luck:

I don't even want to think about how many IUIs we'd have to do to get 8 million. Yikes. Maybe no more IUIs - tomorrow is POAS day, unless AF shows. Stay away, AF! Do Not Disturb! I'm trying to be pregnant over here!
Karen, how are you feeling? How's the 2ww treating you thus far?
Tony'smom - I think it can work without back to back IUIs - just go home and BD a lot afterwards. Please let me know how you are!
:hi:Cathy....I'm feeling ok. I am refusing to POAS this cycle. Just trying to keep busy. I have b/w on Monday morning at 7am.
I'm praying for your :bfp: :hooray::hooray:

Hi ladies, I haven't posted in about a year, last I was on I had 3 unsuccesful IUI's and then the insurnace said that they would not cover the IVF, then in order to get new insurance I had to wait until I was no longer under a pre-existing condition to get new Insurance. So here I am again with great insurnace that just agreed to cover 2 IVF cycles, so I am on day 3 of the Lupron, and here we go!!
Good luck and Congrats to all the woman here.
God Bless you all

Sorry I haven't been here since my first post. I've had a bit of a disappointment and haven't really felt like logging on of late. Our cycle was cancelled because the egg donor did not stimulate well. :( Her estrogen dropped dramatically. It should have been over 1600 and was at 400 something. :( Hopefully November...I'm starting Lupron again on the 12th.

I am glad you all are doing so well... I was off work yesterday for our phone appt with our RE. He really did not have much to say about our my 2nd round of IVF except that it was better than the 1st round, at least we got a positive even though it didn't last. I asked a ton of questions and he offered to refer me to another doctor if I wanted to; but he did not see why we should not move right on into the frozen cycle. I know we are going to and from the way I have it figured out I should have my next cycle around Oct. 27th so that will be my next start.
Well I wish everyone a happy and safe weekend... may those of you in your 2ww enjoy your time there.:hugs:
Thanks ladies. Now I feel more pressured than before, because I don't want to see blood so I get all worked up when I'm about to jab :headbang: I'm so scared of pulling back on the plunger because I find that it doesn't pull easily and I'm afraid I'll yank it out too much :headbang: AAAAAARGH
Serena - Great news that you've definitely decided to move right into your frozen cycle. :fingerscrossed: that you have a stickybean next time :stickyvibes: :stickyvibes: The 27th will be here before you know it, especially if you keep yourself busy the time will just seem to fly.
I knew your fert report would be fantastic; 9 is awesome but you also have others that have probably progressed more by today (haven't got to the last page yet ). Today's ET day :luck: After today you become queen of your empire; have DH cater to your every need, don't even lift a finger  Can you believe it? In a couple hours you'll officially be in the 2WW and I know it'll end in a bfp :cabbage: :hooray:

Mine is BCP, Lupron, Menopur, Follistim, Estrace, Endometrium
Traci, how many vials of powder and solvent of Menopur are you using? I ask because I see you're also using follistim and they're both FSH meds. I know RE's use different protocols but I'm wondering if you're using maximum dose of menopur along with the follisitm. Max dose is 6 vials of powder to 1 solvent. That's what I did for my first IVF and doing again for my second. I know it's kinda late now but you have me wondering if I should've been taking both meds this time around since I didn't get many eggies the first time on just menopur :dunno:

Hey sisterfriend.....take a deep breath, you have to check for blood to make sure you are doing it right. Yes you may be bruised a bit more but keep your chin up and the eye on the prize....you can do it!

Well I went in this morning around 7:30 for my acupuncutre session then went on in for my transfer around 8:30. I got set up and everything and the doc told me we are transferring 2 perfect 4BAA embryos today  Can I just say that they handed me a picture of them and you would have thought I saw the faces of my babies. I am obsessed with the picture and can't quit looking at it!!!! I just keep staring at how wonderful this is. So I had my transfer and I got to watch them be "dropped off" and the doc said "Now they are finally at home" and I said "Awwww Mommy is glad they are at home" It was very emotional.
So then I had another acupuncture session and then headed out. I have been laying on the couch and reading/watching tv. I am so excited. I have been praying and of course talking to my embies lol so 9 days and I will find out if I am a mommy!!!!!

Well today has to be the worst day ever for me. Just found my SIL that I don't get along with is 7 wks pregnant. That is the last thing in the world I ever wanted to hear. She and I don't get along. I know her and her husband are just having a baby to have one. They are very selfish people and don't like kids. Also theres a history of her saying really awful things to me about kids and her trying to persuade me to not want kids. Of course that didn't work. Well she's pregnant now. I haven't been handling it well and I've been crying since she called. I just don't know how I'm supposed to be able to handle all of this. I used to think I was a strong person but I'm not so sure anymore. I'm just so tired of everything. I just want to quit now because I feel like were never going to get pregnant. I feelmore than ever that God is punishing me.
I'm sorry I'm not trying to bring anyone down. I'm just really devastated and depressed and don't know where else to turn.

Dena- Those feelings are natural because you really want a pregnancy and now someone in your life that can't appreciate a pregnancy like you do ends up prego. Listen, you will get to be a mommy. It's hard when someone else gets there before you, but your turn will come...hopefully very soon:wub:.
Mel- Your two babies are perfect and safe. Enjoy the rest & relaxation!
Donna- Don't stress too badly over the blood. Depending on where you inject, it's hard to not get some bruises & some blood. Your estradiol lets the docs know if the injections are getting into your system like they should. I'm sure you are doing just fine. Tell your RE on your next visit or call them tomorrow about your concerns...just don't let it get you too worked up, ok? :winks:

Thanks so much for your kind words. I'm just suck a mess right now. I cannot get it out of my mind. I'm so upset. I just really really wish she never called to tell us. Right now is just such a hard time for me that I don't want to hear someone that close is pregnant. I am happy for EVERYONE else, just not her. Thanks girl. I know, I just need to try to forget that she ever told us anything today. You know, I am very happy for EVERYONE else that gets pregnant, just not her. DH and I knew this would happen. I think if I was still on Clomid, I would have handled it alot better. I think that now I'm onto IVF, that's what is making things harder for me.
I really really hope this is it for you. I hope this is the end of all the heartbreaks and disappointments. You so deserve this. :hugs::hugs::hugs:

Hello everyone,
I'm bck in action so 2 speak... I use 2 post on APA about a year ago while using the OV Watch, but that was a failure. I went through charting, temps, and even had a HSG to see if my tubes were clear(which they were), but kept on getting tht dreaded BFN every **** month. Well, I took a much needed break from TTC & now I am bck with a whole new plan. I started 50mg Clomid on days 5-9 this month, and have been using the Clearblue fertility monitor. I usually O on days 16-17, but I guess the Clomid gave me a longer luteal phase bcuz the monitor had me O on days 14 & 15 as my peak days... I have been BDing since day 13.
I also started taking baby aspirn & Muncex the day after my last pill. Unfortunately, I ended up with the Flu (even though I got the shot 3 weeks ago), a viral infection of the throat & an upper respratory infection all @ once!!! :ohno: I swear there is some evil workings going on here!!!!! :pokey: So I didn't get the wet CM the way I would have wanted since I was put on prescription meds 2 dry me up!
Lord have mercy!!! All can say is that I am on day 16 of my cycle & I have had some pinching cramps on my left side.
As far as Clomid side effects... I only have a severe migraine on the first day, but quickly learned to eat with the pill, and never had one again... I got lucky there.

MelDonna- You will wake those follicles up when you start shooting up & they will surprise you in the end:wub:. Tell the docs to be as aggressive as reasonably possible to get those follicles stimulated & growing! We can do this together cycle buddy (sister-friend)!! You lean on me, I'll lean on you:wub:.
Thanks, Rhonda; we WILL get through this cycle together successfully. I pray you're right that my follies will wake up and surprise me now that I'm stimming. I love wonderful surprises :P
I can understand what you went through with your other cycles, expecting more and not getting what you think should be a given; that can be devastating. Please don't bottle up your emotions, it's not healthy;  :hair::hot: all you need to, DH and we will be here to listen, support and give you great big :hugs: :hugs: Yes, we'll lean on each other for support  I know I've probably said it a million times and I'll keep saying it because I believe...I feel sooooo positive about your bfp this time around (especially because of the IVIG). Everything looks so perfect for you now and falling into place that if it doesn't happen I'd just throw my hands in the air. But I'm not even going to go there, because I KNOW it's going to happen for you this time
Ok Ladies, these progesterone shots, do they give you pg symptoms? Seems like I heard that and I have been so nauseated all morning! I feel hungry but I'm scared to eat anything!
Without a doubt prog makes you feel pg; but in 2 weeks it won't be the prog talking
Donna ~ Sorry to hear the injection last night was painful! I'm got my :fingerscrossed:, heck, everything crossed that you will have a great response this time!
Awwww thanks Amy  T-1, aren't you :bounce:? :cabbage:
Trust us Dena, goofy helps you cope when you're on this rollercoaster ride  So don't feel :shame: It's great to hear that your prolactin and thyroid are back to normal, and that your doc has such positive outlook for your IVF cycle. We all have our ups and downs We'll be praying for your miracle baby too :luck:
Mel, some people just don't know when to quit, or not start. He was just downright rude. What kind of man is he? Is he even one? It would be terrible if a woman had asked, but a man? That's even worse :ohno:

Donna- Be faithful in your drug habits this weekend...and no blood in the syringe (open your eyes when you jab that needle in)!! Don't have me fly to Jamaica to administer them myself!! :pokey: That's what cycle buddies are for, right???
  Would ya? would ya please? Tonight I went to visit friends and one of them is a doctor. I knew I was going to be there past my shots time so I packed up the kids...I mean meds...and took them with me. Now I know that I've been doing something wrong; when he injected me I felt nothing. I'm still wondering if he did it right and if all the med went in  I mean literally seconds, I turned my head away because I didn't want to look and by the time my head went thata way, he was done. I told him that I wish he were my neighbor for the next week. It takes me about a minute, literally, to inject the needle all the way because I go veeeeery slowly. Then by the time I push the plunger and slooooooooowly remove the needle, another 2 minutes go by :headbang: So could ya fly to Jamaica every night  I know, I know...I've got to put on my big girl panties and do what I gotta do.
Ugh! vomitted this morning...not a good feeling. Trying to come around now...2 more days!! im super nervous about this all of a sudden.
:comfort: I'm sorry you got sick; hope you're much better now. That might be a good sign :cabbage: :fingerscrossed:
Oh lots to update lol. First of all did go anywhere last night.
Kimmie....you threw up huh :winks: MS here we come :bellyrubs: I'm right behind you girl!
I'm sorry you weren't feeling so great. Congrats on your ET today, I hope that it went very well and you're feeling much better. Your fert report just keeps getting better and better. I'm sure you've reported on the ET, just haven't got there yet. Now get some rest and relaxation, think happy thoughts and let DH do all the work. You're now in the 2WW and I'll be counting down right with you. :luck:
Donna- When is your next u/s & b/w? How are the shots going?
I go back on Wednesday, the day after you, for more u/s and b/w. I'm trying to be positive but don't want to be overzealous but I'm looking forward to some good news, if my ovary (only have one :()is any indication. It's been hurting but I know that's supposed to be good news, right?
AFY - Welcome to pincushion city finally :cabbage: looking forward to great reports on your follies and eggies. I'm sorry you're having headaches; if you'd had a chance to have your margaritas then we could narrow it down to a hangover  but :dunno: I pray it'll go a way soon if it hasn't already. I wish I could fast forward to Tuesday for your report, hope everything goes well.

God Bless you all
:hi: Briana, welcome back. I'm sorry IUI's didn't work for you and you had issues with ins. But now that's all behind you and you have great ins now :hooray: :hooray: :fingerscrossed: you won't need a second ivf. Do you have your ER and ET dates yet? I'm guessing you'll have lots of cycle buddies in here.
:comfort: I'm sorry it didn't work out this time. :luck: in November
Hey sisterfriend.....take a deep breath, you have to check for blood to make sure you are doing it right. Yes you may be bruised a bit more but keep your chin up and the eye on the prize....you can do it!
 :ty: I'll be the little egg producing machine that could :)
Oh, yea I forgot you get to be the lucky one who doesn't have to join the 2WW. I can only imagine the pride and joy you must have felt to look at pictures of your 2 perfectly beautiful babies. It all seems so amazing doesn't it? Well, here's to one more moving on to the July due date room :hooray:
God isn't punishing you. It's understandable to feel stressed and frustrated ttc with med assistance, and see women with big bellies in front of them or hear of someone getting pg and you're not one of them. You are a strong and persistent woman, otherwise you wouldn't be here trying so hard to overcome the challenges you face ttc. You will get your bfp too, just try to be patient and not make SIL get to you :hugs:
Donna- Don't stress too badly over the blood. Depending on where you inject, it's hard to not get some bruises & some blood. Your estradiol lets the docs know if the injections are getting into your system like they should. I'm sure you are doing just fine. Tell your RE on your next visit or call them tomorrow about your concerns...just don't let it get you too worked up, ok? :winks:
Donna - I agree with Rhonda. It hurts worse to worry!!!
OK. Thanks ladies, I guess I'm probably trying a little too hard to make sure this works. It means I need to start relaxing some and stop worrying. I WILL :)

The things she's said/done to me are just too much to ever forget. :headbang:
I'm going to call the clinic and get started with Acupuncture ASAP. I'm hoping that will help me.
Pink - Honey, God is not punishing you. This is just part of the game and I know how much it hurts. It's perfectly natural to be so upset when you feel she doesn't appreciate it. Since it's your SIL, I guess you can't just avoid her..but keep some distance for now. And try to fake it as much as possible - it helps and eventually it won't hurt so much. Your time will come anyway.. You need to gear up and prepare yourself for your upcoming cycle!! Squash those negative thoughts and focus on YOU!! :luck:

Traci, how many vials of powder and solvent of Menopur are you using? I ask because I see you're also using follistim and they're both FSH meds. I know RE's use different protocols but I'm wondering if you're using maximum dose of menopur along with the follisitm. Max dose is 6 vials of powder to 1 solvent. That's what I did for my first IVF and doing again for my second. I know it's kinda late now but you have me wondering if I should've been taking both meds this time around since I didn't get many eggies the first time on just menopur :dunno:
Hey there! Sorry I'm just seeing this. I'm not sure on my dosage of these yet. I know that my RE wants to use the Menopur and Follistim b/c the Menopur has both LH and FSH where the Follistim I believe is just the FSH??? I won't know my dosage until I go in for my b/w which hopefully will be this week. I'm sure my RE gave me more of an explanation but I can't remember what it was.

I'm sorry you had such a bad day. I understand how you feel. A few months ago one of my SIL's announced she was pregnant and it was completely devastating...however we do have a good relationship so I was happy for her but just sad for me. It's so strange what STC will do to you. It flips your upside down and makes you completely sensitive to all things baby ya know? I spent a few days crying as well. Eventually you won't feel like crying anymore. Please don't let this news discourage you and loose track of what you are trying to accomplish. We can't control the people around us and sometimes we need to just look past them. :hugs:

Baaaah! I had one of those nights where I couldn't friggin sleep. DH was up until 2 watching that Mummy movie with Brendan Frasier and I tossed and turned. Finally I ended up turning on Roseanne reruns on Nick at Night and watched until 4:30. I think I dosed off around that time but when the alarm went off at 5am I was wide awake again! Time to give a shot! So I went ahead and got a shower and came to work while DH slept like a little baby. He's off today so he'll get to catch up on his sleep. Me...my eyes feel like they are on fire and they are about to shrivel up and fall out of my face. Thank goodness tomorrow is my flex day b/c I'm going to need the extra sleep! Ok...rant over.

I called a doctor that does the beta tests in my area and it would cost $260 for the blood test!! :shocker: I want to know earlier than Sunday, but not that badly!

I went in for blood work this morning to make sure everything is a go.
Freaked out, pretty much explains how I feel right now.
Long story short...my little sis and I go to the same RE. While the nurse was pulling my blood today, I was asking questions about what I'm to do, making sure I'm ready to go. About 3 questions in, she tells me I'm NOT starting lupron today!?! :dunno: I question her a little more and she says, "This time you don't take the lupron 'til I tell you." At this point I realize what's going on, and say, "I'm Photogrl, not - - -." :shocker: She apologizes profusely, but I'll be honest this has really freaked me out. I don't want to be confused, and I sure don't want THEM to be confused, KWIM?
So, my progesterone came back at 8, showing ovulation. I start 10 units of Lupron tonight.
Here we go! :)

Morning!
Went for the bloodwork this morning!!
Ive had this urge to pee all morning when I get there its just a little tinkle...so annoying!! im so anxious I hope they call me asap!
I had a dream lastnight this little boy was freezing and asked me to share my sheet and I offered him to sleep next to me but he had to put hus head near my toes....I guess this might be a good sign in some cultures that If I am then I would be having a baby boy...eeeekkk!! I hope its all True!
ill post in a little while the results

Awww I did, didn't I?!?! I love it.
So I got the final call and we were able to freeze 3 more and 3 more arrested so in total we have 9 frozen and 5 arrested and 2 at home
Aw that is a good number, I'm sorry about the ones that didn't make it but :cheer: for 9!!!
:cabbage: for starting.....I don't blame you I would be freaked out too! I would doubley and tripily
make sure they had YOUR chart and YOUR name on everything. I would also keep repeating it to the drs, nurses and techs....one can not be too careful!!!

Yesterday they froze 6 that looked the same as the ones transferred, they were letting the rest continue to grow today before freezing.
Thanks I'm excited. I have always wanted twins so I joke around with DH and say that I asked for it and God made a way for me to get it
Wow! You are going to have a big family, girlie! I can't wait for your beta.. I'm almost as excited for your test as for mine!! I'm dying to know if you have twins! :luck:

Ay.. That's disconcerting. I agree with Kim to double check everything going forward. On the upside, she must think you are the younger sister. :winks:
Congrats on starting Lupron.. Gettin' there!
