Ok, I've had a couple of people PM me for the recipe. These are easy to make (even for those of us who are sleep deprived, LOL) and are so yummy for that chocolate or sugar craving. Plus I tell myself that since they are made from oatmeal they are helping my supply... Anyways, here's the recipe:

(side note: I make mine a little differently - instead of making "cookies" I put foil cupcake liners in my muffin pan and scoop the oatmeal mix into there. One batch will make 12 "muffins". I find they stay softer that way and are really easy to pull out of the foil and eat. Plus two "muffins" = one serving of oatmeal, LOL)

3-Minute No-Bake Cookies 2 cups granulated sugar
8 tablespoons (1 stick) margarine or butter
1/2 cup low-fat milk
1/3 cup NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Baking Cocoa (http://www.cooksrecipes.com/cookie/3-minute_no-bake_cookies_recipe.html#)
3 cups Quaker® Oats (quick or old fashioned*, uncooked)
In large saucepan, combine sugar, margarine, milk and cocoa (http://www.cooksrecipes.com/cookie/3-minute_no-bake_cookies_recipe.html#). Bring to boil over medium heat, stirring frequently. Continue boiling 3 minutes, stirring frequently.
Remove from heat. Stir in oats.* Drop by tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper. Let stand until firm. Store tightly covered. Makes about 3 dozen.
*If using old fashioned oats, cool mixture in saucepan (http://www.cooksrecipes.com/cookie/3-minute_no-bake_cookies_recipe.html#) 5 minutes.

Mmmm, these were my favorite treat growing up. My kids love when we make them, but we call them "frogs". I think you can put coconut in them too(I don't like coconut, so I make them this way, but if you like it, it's 2 cups oats, 1 cup coconut)

Mmm I love no bakes, but have had a hard time finding a recipe that would actually set up instead of staying mush. Isn't there a way to use peanut butter in them? Now I need to see if I have any cocoa left.

Hmmm, I don't know, but if you find a recipe let me know. Peanut butter we be good too, and then I could say I was getting my protein by eating them too! LOL

That's so funny you posted this! My sister just made these last week for her coworkers at the base. As you may have figured out, they were not for lactating women! But we use to eat them when we were little too! One guy liked them so much he got the recipe from her and called her to have her walk him through the steps to make them! I thought that was hilarious!

LOL! He must not cook much - dump everything in the pot....boil...stir in oatmeal...serve...not a very hard recipe!

Here's mine (with peanut butter):

2 cups sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 cup butter

3/4 cup peanut butter
3 cups quick oats.

Mix first 4 ingredients in a pan, boil for a minute. Add PB and oats, stir and plop on wax paper. I let them set out overnight and the are not mushy.

I think you can but you just reduce the amount of butter/margarine since peanut butter has quite a bit of oil in it.

Sounds delicious!! Guess what I am going to be making tonight? :P

Question about the PB ... I thought anything with peanuts was a no-no while BFing a baby younger than a year? Is it a myth?

I dunno...I've always eaten them and no problems - but no peanut allergies in our family either.

A good tip (my grandma taught me) for checking to see if they are ready to drop on wax paper is: Take the spoon and let a drop of the mixture drop into a small bowl of cold water. If it turns into a lump, it is ready, if it stays liquidy, cook it for a little longer. I have always done that and have always used the her recipe with PB in it and I have never had a problem with them not setting and staying mushy.

Well, I live on chocolate some days (especially the ones that AF is in town) and none of my kids have complained...why does your mom say it's a nono?

I thought it was no giving nuts to the baby till they were a year . . .

If I can't have no bake cookies while BF, I'm not going to be a nice person. I love these things.

She thought it was, but its been 22 years since shes had a baby which is why I asked. I hadn't heard anything about it either way, but have heard of people eating it while bfing

A lot of people who are really careful about caffeine during pg avoid chocolate. If you avoid it during pg, sometimes the baby can't tolerate it in bm. Also, it is acidic, so it might not agree w/baby, but those are the only reasons I know of to avoid chocolate while bf.

I see. Though I never counted the caffeine in chocolate as "real" caffeine, LOL. I just didn't do anything like drinking Mt. Dew while preggo...

I made these a couple of weeks ago and I swear they helped my supply. Yes I ate more than I should have but I also started pumping like 5 oz +!

LaurenB brought me a bag of these in the hospital before I was discharged.
They were SOOOOO good - it had been a year or so since I'd had any and haven't made them myself in years!

Going to have to try to make some myself soon.
