I didn't want to take over the other thread but I'm curious who is getting or has already done the 13 week screening? I didn't do it with Mia because I had heard about false positives. This time a lot of girls at my work are all pregnant and have all done it so I kind of felt like it was the norm now. I scheduled it for 8/23 but now I'm thinking of cancelling. I guess I was just excited to see the baby again..

Not me. I'm too scared of the false positive and my insurance won't pay for it.

I opted not to do it either. I felt that it wouldn't change anything that I would do for the fetus - even if something turned up abnormal, we'd probably wait several weeks for the full anatomy scan to verify the results. So now if something comes out abnormal at the anatomy scan, then we'll deal with it then. That was my thought.....

I did it and mine came back clear, but if it had not been for our past history and resulting risk factors I would not have bothered.

Hi, dropping in from Jan with my 2 cents. As an AMA mom, I opted to have the quad scan and the NT scan done. It wouldn't have changed anything if there had been a problem, but I wanted to have time to prepare if there was an issue. It was reassuring to have that knowledge.
I didn't with my first two, for some reason opted to this time. I think it's because I feel like I'm pushing my luck having a third healthy child. Crazy, I know.
Anyway it came back with one in 10000 chance of trisomy 18 and one in 2922 chance of downs. I have another blood test to do if I feel I want to for the downs, to get a more accurate result, but not sure I will. They seemed like ok odds to me.
Oh and I am 32 this time. I was 27 and 28 with my other two.

Those sound like good numbers to me, too.

I have always chosen not to because the outcome wouldn't make a difference for me and there's no sense in worrying about it. I can wait until my 20wk u/s to find out if there is something to be concerned about.

I just had my first ultrasound and I'm 13 weeks but that was just because they couldn't get me until then lol I have never had one at 13 weeks and I LOVE the pictures I got. So sweet the the little profile. I thought I saw something on the ultrasound (boy?) BUT I didn't ask any questions about gender because I didn't want to risk getting my hopes up one way or another.

I did, kinda felt a little pressure to do it.. it was all of a sudden and they kinda talked me into it with the promise of a great u/s. :) I regret it now and wish I had just stuck it out for a few more weeks for the big u/s! :) Whatever you decide, we are behind you! Try not to let yourself get pressured either way though. What ever you think is best, probably is! :hugs:
