I figured I might get more answers if I asked here.

When my son was 4 months old I went on the mini pill since I'm nursing. My midwife gave me 6 refills but said that after he turned 6 months old and started solids, I could go on combination bcp.

My question is, if you breastfed and went on combination bcp, did it lower your supply?

I've been doing some researching online and it seems like it definitely will. If its going to lower my supply drastically then I don't want to do it. But right now I feel like I'm having AF every other week and I just want something to help regulate that. But I definitely don't want to stop breadtfeeding.

I always heard most physicians won't prescribe combination pills for breastfeeding moms, even after the 6 month mark. But there obviously are some who do. I just found this on Kellymom about combination pills:

Milk supply: Estrogen-containing contraceptives have been linked to low milk supply and a shorter duration of breastfeeding even when started when baby is older, after milk supply is well established. Not all mothers who take contraceptives containing estrogen will experience a low milk supply, but these unaffected mothers appear to be a very small minority.

If you aren't ready to stop breastfeeding, I would avoid those pills.

Yeah I read that. But with me not working. I sure am going through a lot of feminine products because the mini pill doesn't help with that at all. It's just getting tiresome.

Is mama cloth an option?? or a diva cup?

Seriously consider a diva cup! I had mine for a few cycles before braving it and I'll never go back!

Yes, I went on regular BCP with my DD at six months and it killed my supply. I had to stop the pill and take milk-boosting measures asap.
