So now that you've helped me figure out how to address the issue of how/what/when to tell the mom about Eamonn, what should we bring as a present?

Its a gymnastics party. How much is the appropriate amount to spend, and what sort of presents are good?

Both my girls' favorite gifts and most used gifts from that age-and in fact they are still being used almost daily-was an art/craft box. It's just a banker's box with a pad of construction paper, a couple spiral notebooks, scissors, glue stick, pipe cleaners, pom-poms, elmers glue, colored pencils, ruler, protractor, etc. Just basic stuff, no glitter or stickers or anything like that. I've replenished it a few times of the last few years and just have loved that someone thought to put it together in a kid-friendly useable way that can still easily be packed up and put away.

My DD is 5 and we have been bringing almost the same gift to every bday party lol  It's a friendship bracelet maker. I am not sure if it is liked but my DD would like it I think? It may be for age 6+ though - that is what all the kids in her class are turning.

Like Tif said, a crafty gift is nice because you may not know what the kid is "into" - like Barbies or princesses or whatever. My DD isn't into those things but would probably still like a gift that was princess themed - even so, I'd prefer to steer clear of it and get something neutral.

If you have a Michael's Arts & Crafts near you they almost always offer 40% off coupon and have nice crafty cool stuff like sand art and science experiment stuff.

I have been spending $10-20. We have been to at least 2 bday parties/month. Can't afford much more than that!

Oh and m younger DD (age 3) got a lite brite for her bday and DD1 (age 5) loves it and is more able to do it. So the lite brite is a great idea too....

Love the idea of the lite brite! I didn't know they were making them again! I love that it's flat screen and not the huge thing I had when I was a kid!
