Hello,

I am close to my due date. I will be induced next weekend if I do not go into labor between now and then. I had a really traumatic birth when I had my daughter and ended up with more than 30 stitches inside and outside of my private part and was bedridden for almost a year because the healing process was difficult. I am TERRIFIED to go through that again even though my dr assured me it is rare for something like that to happen again. He did suggest C-Section if I wanted to go down that road, but I declined because I want to have vaginal delivery. However, I am trying to find ways to start labor naturally. I have been having contractions but they tend to stop after 4 hours. As of last Monday's dr appointment, I am dilated 2 cm and 75% effaced. My sister suggested I try Black & Blue Cohosh oil because it worked for her. I did some reading online and the blue cohosh has been linked to complications in babies at birth. Did any one of you try this? If so, did it work? Would you recommend it?

P.S. I am calling my dr tomorrow and will be asking about this oil but wanted to see if any one of you have tried this.

Thanks!

Well, wish I had some advice..I'll be stalking. I was 2cm and about the same effaced last week and had NO progress this week at all. I have not tried the oils myself but have been trying other things that just do not work. Hope you find something that works!

I don't think I would use it without direct supervision from a Dr. or Midwife personally.
I completely understand how you feel, I had an extremely traumatic injury from my first birth (4th degree tear, all the way through both my internal and external rectal sphincter) that healed poorly, and has to be repaired after the birth of my next daughter in two months. I'm pretty scared about healing from the repair, because its going to be just as painful as the original tear :(
My Dr. wants to induce me at 39 weeks, and I REALLY want to avoid induction, so my plan is to start red raspberry leaf tea and evening primrose oil at 37 weeks, and then lots of nipple stimulation (I'm going to use a breast pump a few times a day,) and sex starting at 38 weeks. And of course as much walking as I can stand.
Good luck! Things will go a lot more smoothly this time around!

Hello,

Thanks for replying! I called the nurse today and asked her about Black and Blue Cohost oil, and she flat out said NO! They are not safe and the research did find that oil to cause the complications to the baby during/after birth. What the nurse suggested was to eat spicy food, eat mexican food, sex, nipple stimulation, bounce on the ball, and walk.

I think I am going to try the clary sage oil from doTERRA company sometimes tomorrow or Sunday, and I hope it will help me go into labor by myself rather than having to be induced.

I tried them with my 4th. In fact, I've tried every labor-inducing method I've heard of at one time or another - and not one of them work. At this point I don't believe that any of them really work and for those that it did baby was just ready to come anyhow.
