My wife is going through a stage in which she is depressed about being pregnant and I'm worried she might develop post-partum depression. I've heard bonding with the child by making the concept more "real" can be helpful. 3D ultrasound images apparently can help the mother connect with her child - it's like a face to the thing growing inside her.

Has anyone had any experience with this? Thanks.

How far along is she? What are her specific concerns? Does she have a history of depression?

IMO, the safest course of action is to talk to her OB about what is going on. They should be able to suggest a way forward.

having a bout of depression during pregnancy does not mean that she will definitely get post partun depression.... when i was pregnant with my son i went thru a period when i was depressed but after meeting him i fell in love and didn't get post partum d.

i agree with suja... i would definitely talk to her OB about it and move on from there. the ob will know what to do and probably knows of a good therapist that your wife can talk to.

Thanks guys. Good advice - therapy appointment booked. We talked to our OB about it. She's 24 weeks.
