DO NOT GET ME WRONG I AM DOING THE HAPPY DANCE FOR MY BFP, and thank God that it actually worked, however,
I was secretly hoping for twins, but nurse said that with a 180 she doubts that it is twins, per my doubling times looks like since friday until today it is about 36 hrs. anyone have any input or thoughts?
beta 1=3 on 1/17
beta 2=48 on 1/20
beta 3=180 on 1/23
when calcualting the doubling times from beta 1-2=18hrs, and when beta 2-3= 36 hrs, and beta 1-3=24hrs, so I'm confused!

some people joke about multiples with beta numbers but i know that you could have just as low/high of a beta with singles and multiples. and they can rise just as quick/slow. So I really wouldn't try to analyze it by your beta. when is your first ultrasound?

It looks like singleton numbers to me hon. :) I did a LOT of research on beta numbers because mine rose so so quickly in the beginning with this pregnancy (even faster than yours). I thought for sure it would be twins, but there's just one little boy in there! :)

Thanks for writing this! I have no clue about these things
I've read that betas aren't necessarily a good indication for twins, but that progesterone can be.

This is true! I never found out my progesterone, though, since I was already on supplements.

Beta's are almost totally worthless on being an indicator of multiples. Best thing is to just wait for the ultrasound and not go crazy over it or you will get one way or the other in your heart and the ultrasound could let you down just a little.
With the triplets my beta's were 667 @14DPO and 1752 @17DPO my Prog. was 82 or 83 I think. @6 weeks we saw 3 babies.
With Jericho my #'s were 364 @14DPO and 622 @16DPO Prog. 77. @6 weeks we saw 1 baby.
You just can't tell. Congrats on be pregnant!!!

This post would be more appropriate on the Former TTC'ers section or on your birth month board. Good luck on finding out if it's a singleton or twins!

I moved this to expecting for you hon. I thought you'd get more responses there than in your birth month and I know former ttcers is usually dead. :hugs:

I agree with the others about beta vs. progesterone. My numbers are somewhere in former TTC's. They suspected multiples for me due to the clomid and my progest being 59 when it normally runs low.
My first beta was nice and high, my second was disapointing. The doc I saw and confirmed 3 babies on a quickie surprise sono said that with multiples the betas can have a point where they stall, for lack of a better term, and don't look so hot but then will make a massive jump. But again, best thing to do is sit back & wait to see on the u/s. Congrats either way!

So RE called today and beta went from 180 on 1/23 to 689 on 1/25! said my levels are doubling every 27hrs and said it is very possible there may be twins in there.
So now what does everyone think about those betas?

How soon will they be able to do a u/s to check? There really is no telling until you get a u/s.

I hope it is! That would be such a blessing for you guys! I can only give you my beta numbers for my singleton:
11dpo: 40
14dpo: 385 (22 hours)
16dpo: 985 (35)
18dpo: 2127 (43)
They started doubling off very quickly but slowed down as they got higher. I think progesterone is still more of an indicator of twins. Either way you have at least one super sticky baby in there, although I'm crossing my fingers for two!
