So my blood pressure was 88/46 at my Dr.s appt today (lowest in a long time)...It usually runs low (100's/??) I've read that having an epi can cause blood pressure to drop even more...I'm only 14 weeks but just curious as to if any of you ladies have/had low blood pressure & if any of you who've already ahd chiclred had an epi with low blood pressure & everything be ok....I asked the nurse if my BP was ok & she said it was a bit low, but nothing to worry over as long as I felt ok, which I did...
This is my 1st pregnany, so I'm scared to death of everything going on...I just want everything to be ok & NORMAL! lol I also WANT the epi is why I asked....
Oh and I'm 29 with a family history of heart disease (grandpas family)

I'm thinking it should be okay. Specially if your doc said it was okay. I have low bp as well, although I don't think it was as low as your last reading, but I've always had a low bp and they told me the same thing. If I feel okay, it's okay. I do get dizzy easily and lightheaded when pregnant. Also your bp tends to lower early pregnancy and regulates itself during the third trimester or so.
I had an epidural twice and everything was fine. They will definitely monitor you throughout. I am going for a natural birth since this is our last time. Good luck and don't b afraid to ask the doc. It's worth the piece of mind :) H&H

I have low bp (98/60 at my last appointment), and it tends to drop in the first/second trimester, then go back to my "normal" (still low) in the third trimester. I had an epidural with Abbey and although it seriously stalled my labor, my bp was totally fine.
Just be aware that as it gets lower sudden movements can give you 'spots' and feeling like your going to pass out. My old OB told me that if I feel like that to take a deep breath and lie down, even if I was in the middle of the grocery store, and lift my legs above my heart (like knees to my chest). It did happen at home a couple times but not out in public. :truce: Her main concern was me passing out and the baby getting hurt that way.

I would just ask the doc about the epi- they can tell you. But I agree with the PP - usually your BP drops during 1st and 2nd and comes back to a normal level in the third... so chances are good by the time you deliver, it wil be back to what it usually is anyway.
I usually run 120/80 exactly... with this pregnancy it's been low 100s / mid 60s for the past couple of months... but with DD1 by the time I hit my third trimester it went to normal.

Normally blood pressure SHOULD lower during pregnancy. But of course not too critical or anything. So it is a good idea to check your BP from time to time. I am luck as in my compound we have a community health clinic where I can do this for free or in any small hospital for a low fee. So I don't own a tanometer.
