How many of you had light lines that never got as dark as or darker than the control and went on to have a healthy pregnancy?

It may be because my second test was a different brand, but you would think a week later it'd be pretty dark. It's darker than the original test for sure. It's just bugging me and I need some reassurance so I don't drive myself nuts.

You can't really count on the darkness of the line. It's not a quantitative test really, it's yes or no. Hang in there until your first appointment or you are going to drive yourself crazy. You're pregnant girl!

I was using wondfo cheapies and the line didn't get darker than the control line until I was at least 6 weeks. Look at this, for example. Now, this was from 11dpo on the top to 14dpo on the bottom. My hcg at 11dpo was 40 and at 14dpo it was 358. Looking at that line, you'd never think that the hcg was that high, but it was. It just goes to show you that you can't rely on tests to see how your numbers are rising. My lines aren't drastically different and when the nurse called with my 14dpo hcg number I was in complete shock. I was basing my estimate on the test color and it was way, way off! :)

ETA: I tested for "fun" at 8 weeks or so and the control line still had a lot of color. I expected it to be all test line and a barely there control line but it was only a couple of shades darker. Just fyi on tests like that.

Yea! Thanks I feel better. :) I just remember doing it with Elliott and my test was super dark for 11-13 DPO and I tested a week or two later I think and the test line was darker than the control.

I'm feeling "okay". I get nauseated here and there, but nothing that affects me too much. Occasional headaches, fatigue, a lot of bloating. Some cramping. Overall good though.

I don't think the cheapies lines get as dark as the control lines. W/DS, my lines did get darker, but not by a lot.

Well that sounds about right for almost 6 weeks. :hugs:

Don't worry. On HPTs, the darkness of the line doesn't make a difference because it's not a quantitative test. If there's HCG present, a line will show, and if there isn't a line won't. As long as there's a faint line, it's +. Only an evap line or a "if I squint and turn the stick into the bright light, I can see something" line aren't really +. Also, the darkness of the control line means nothing. The control line is just there to show you that the test works. It's all good! Best of luck with your PG!
