I found out yesterday that I have mild polyhydramnios (too much amniotic fluid). Apparently the normal level ranges up to 25 and my level is at 26. The doctor did not seem very concerned and said that since I had a normal anatomy scan at 20 weeks that I shouldn't worry too much about it. I have another scan in 2 weeks.

So.... I did what no one should do and googled polyhydramnios and now I am freaked out. Please someone tell me stories about how everything turns out fine most of the time. And I realize that my case is very mild but then I talk to other people who are around the same gestation as me and they have levels of half or less. I'm also assuming that there must be some small margin of error so maybe I'm 25 or 24. I wish the doctor would have explained more but they acted like it was no big deal.

Please don't worry--I had this with my second child, and it was absolutely NO big deal--except I was HUGE :) I was also at 26 or 27, so they ended up doing a level 2 u/s to be safe, which showed everything to be totally normal--SO unnecessary. I also Googled it after initial diagnosis, and was also freaked out. Again, the pregnancy progressed normally and by 34 weeks the fluid level was well back into normal range because Casey had gotten much bigger. He ended up being over 9 lbs--big babies pee a lot! :) Seriously, it's not a big deal at all. My aunt had a fluid level of 40 and it was also unexplained and baby was totally fine. The docs have to have some cut off of "normal" levels--so of course anything beyond that is going to be considered poly. No worries!!

Don't fret. That's not bad, and it's totally normal for fluid levels to drop a little at the end of pregnancy. It's still within normal range.
