Did you have one? Did you make it full term with no problem?
I just got a positive one and I've been dealing with pre term labor since 29 weeks and was able to stop it. I have procardia now to stop contractions.
What was your experience with a positive ffn?

I had a positive one with Scharae at 28 weeks but didn't go into labor until 32 weeks...at which point I had had a negative one THE DAY BEFORE starting labor.
Many insurances won't cover the ffn test anymore because it's just not a very good indicator. Negative most certainly does not put you in the clear for the 2 weeks like they try to say and a positive also does not most certainly put you going into labor within the 2 weeks.
I was on procardia from 29ish weeks on with Scharae. In the hospital on mag for 4 or 5 days at 32 weeks, again at 34 weeks and finally at 35 weeks on the nose they let her come. The procardia did not by any means stop any kind of labor pattern for me but it would relax my uterus/calm the irritability between my preterm labor rounds. Like instead of having contractions every 2-3 minutes I could get them down to 8-10 minutes with bedrest, 600mg ibuprofen every 6-8 hours and procardia every 4.

Yeah, I was on mag sulfate for 48 hours. Just long enough for the steroid shots to take effect. They gave me procardia a week later and they said that it wouldn't stop true labor, but that it would stop the obvious uterine irritability. I'm hopeful the procardia and bed rest will be all I need.
Also they said they would not do mag again after 30 weeks so if he comes and it's true labor, they won't stop it.

That's nuts and I would be changing doctors/hospitals in a heartbeat. Labor-even true labor-absolutely CAN be stopped after 30 weeks. It has more to do with how dilated you are and the REASONS for the labor and not how far along you are. I got to 4.5/5 and was still able to stop labor 2 days before 35 weeks (they stopped the mag at 35 weeks) because the reason for my labor was uterine irritability combined with a weak cevix.
Sure, they can't always stop it, but I would never put myself in the care of a hospital that is so anxious to have my baby hang out in the NICU as opposed to my body at 30 weeks. 34 weeks, sure. But the difference between being in and out at 30 weeks is HUGE.

Oh yeah I did. The hospital is a huge university hospital with a fantastic nicu. I couldn't believe they wouldn't stop it after 30 weeks:pokey: but hey, why should they when they can make $2 mil from a nicu baby: when I left their l&d after my 4 day stay they said to come back when my contractions were strong and regular.
I have changed hospitals and the new one is the one that gave me the procardia. But the thing is, they don't have a nicu so I would still be sent to the other big hospital(35 mins away). It's a lose lose situation.
Right now the plan is to try to make it to at least 34 weeks. They said that is the time that they wouldnt separate mom and baby.

I don't put much stock in them. I had a neg. one with the triplets at 31 weeks, my water broke 24 hours later. I would just take it as a warning and be prepared just in case. :hugs:

I had a pos ffn at 29wks with my last pregnancy and delivered at 36wks. So a positive doesn't mean too much, it just means to be watchful. I hope your LO keeps baking for another few weeks at least.
