I like The Birth Book by Dr Sears for choosing your options.
Pushed by Jennifer Block is good too, but it deals more in statistics and it terrifed me....(Granted, these are the only two I have read so far)

BabyCatcher: Chronicles of a Modern Midwife by Peggy Vincent is a good book of a midwife and her stories.

Birth, The Surprising History of How We Are Born by Tina Cassidy

Obstetric Myths Versus Research Realities by Henci Goer

The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth by Henci Goer

Bestfeeding, How to Breastfeed Your Baby by Suzanne Arms, Chloe Fisher, and Mary Renfrew

The Birth Partner, Third Edition: A Complete Guide to Childbirth for Dads, Doulas, and All Other Labor Companions by Penny Simkin

Pushed: The Painful Truth About Childbirth and Modern Maternity Care by Jennifer Block

Childbirth without Fear: The Principles and Practice of Natural Childbirth (Import) by Grantly ****-Read and Michel Odent

The Complete Book of Pregnancy and Childbirth (Revised) by Sheila Kitzinger (I personally recommend this one to every one of my clients.)

All but one of these is on my lending library. The one that isn't I'm getting as soon as I can! :) Obstetrical Myths Vs Research Realities can be hard to find, so contact local Bradley teachers and other childbirth educators to see if they have a lending copy.

Another good DVD is "Orgasmic Birth" not as wierd as it sound (I promise). Anyway it has alot of good info on natural child birth and homebirths. Plus in the special features section alot of info on stats and studies that have been done showing where the US stands in maternity care.

I found this site helpful in finding a hospital/OB who would attempt a VBAC in my state, as well as general information about VBAC itself:

Can we add a link for Brio Birth? www.briobirth.com (http://www.briobirth.com) Similar class style as Bradley, but a more modern feel and approach (not stuck in the 80's with their materials...)

My Bradley teacher actually switched to this and I love the changes I've seen from when we did the Bradley course.
