Sometimes I read your threads and I feel like I need a little bit of background information before I can understand what you're posting about.

I'll start.

My story: TTC since October 2005. Two confirmed early miscarriages around six weeks. Regular cycles (28 days). Regular ovulations. No luteal phase problems. FSH=3.1 (ovarian reserve), all analytical numbers good. (I've always speculated that we keep conceiving but that I don't hang onto it...)

UPDATE Feb-2007: HSG shows everything is normal. All clear.

UPDATE Apr-2007: RE says everything is fine, and his tests couldn't find anything wrong, so I am Unexplained. I'm reading a book on nutrition and am taking supplements where deficient. Also, I've been going to the chiropractor (after having read about a link between chiropractics and fertility). I started TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) -- herbs and acupuncture.

UPDATE April 5, 2007: Got the Recurrent Miscarriage blood panel done. The test revealed that I have a rare blood clotting disorder (Protein S deficiency) which might keep me from staying pregnant past the 2nd trimester.

UPDATE May 13, 2007: According to TCM, I have Spleen Qi Deficiency and Blood Statis, with a little bit of Kidney Yang Dificiecy thrown in.

UPDATE late July: Consulted a hematologist. Protein S deficiency doesn't normally affect until the 2nd trimester; all other blood tests fine. I'll be on blood thinner when I get pregnant.

UPDATE August: With all this acupuncture and Chinese herbs, my cycles are healthier than ever! No more cold feet, no butterflies in stomache, no bloating, no cramps, nice flow. :) If anything, I'm healthier than ever.

CONCLUSION: I have two issues: (1) Staying pregnant (unexplained). (2) Possibly staying Pregnant past the 2nd trimester (because of diagnosed blood-clotting disorder).

UPDATE August - September 2007: Even though my progesterone always tests at a healthy high and my endometrial lining is always healthy, I'm trying progesterone supplements (oral - prometrium) beginning at 3dpo. The RE says some women get pregnant unexplicably when they try this, even though they always come out healthy in everything. They just don't know everything he says. My first cycle on prometrium resulted in a BFP.

I had endometriosis all along, given that I had half the symptoms and I had a Chinese diagnosis of "Blood Statis" which in Chinese medicine includes endometriosis. About 5 cycles of TCM almost took care of all those issues since my symptoms all started going away and my flows looked healthier. It turns out that the Protein S Deficiency is a non-issue for me. When I took the prometrium, that was my final key. I have read that prometrium can push back the prostglandins in endometriosis (a theory), so that was probably it, although, technically, I had an unexplained situation.

UPDATE: Pregnant with another baby due in April 2010. I didn't try to get pregnant, but we are pleasantly surprised and very happy to receive this rich blessing of a new child. This further confirms that I think I had endometriosis all along and that my pregnancy with my son resolved my issues. For my second pregnancy, I did not go on Lovenox or Progesterone, as I had done with my first; I knew my issues were resolved.

Unexplained IF. Three rounds of IUI and three rounds of IVF. Multiple rounds of clomid. My body is just now getting back to a healthy state after all of the fertility meds I took(which I believe messed up my body).

Diagnosed in Feb 2004 with anovulation due to Depo Provera. Tried 2 rounds of Clomid. Diagnosed in Sept 2005 with LPD and premature decline in Progesterone after 4 early losses all before 5 weeks. Put on Clomid and Progesterone at that time. Diagnosed in June 2006 with PCOS after 5th early loss at 6 weeks. Put on 1500 mg Metformin, Clomid, and Progesterone.

Going to be getting a new RE and medication for quitting smoking to help reduce the risk of m/c and help with infertility.

My Diagnosis: PCOS

My Story: TTC since Aug. 2005, 1 loss in June 2006, I am not o'ing or getting AF on my own, YET. I am on Metformin 1500 per day.

my diagnosis: started ttc in november 2004 after 13 years on BCP. no o'ing or af for 7 months. official PCOS diagnosis in may 2005. i am overweight from the missed PCOS diagnosis (i gained 70 lbs in 2 months after BCP) the dr. thought i was diabetic. 1 loss in may 2006 and 3 other suspected losses. i still don't get AF or O without meds. my drug cocktail: 10 mg of provera for 10 days to bring AF, 100mg of clomid on cd 3-7 to O and 1700 mg of Metformin daily.

TTC since October 2005.

2 losses. One at 4w/5d (August 2006) and one at 9w/6d (October 2006, although U/S confirmed no heartbeat on the second one at 8w/6d and actually measured at 8w/2d).

Diagnosed with PCOS in, oh, March of 2006? Have been on Metformin 500 mg. twice a day since then.

At around that same time I had a cone biopsy after abnormal pap and colposcopy and was found to have had a very small area of cervical cancer which was removed at the time of the cone biopsy. No further treatment required--it was small.

Conceived on my own with the first pregnancy and then with Clomid on the very next cycle. After the second loss, my doctor switched me to Femara instead of Clomid and this is my first cycle on the Femara (December '06/January '07).

Ovulate "on my own" with the help of Metformin but use fertility drugs to help me ovulate sooner in my cycle since I tend to ovulate late (once as late as CD 72).

TTC since January 2005.

3 losses. Two at 4w/5d (May 2005 and July 2005) and one at 12w/2d (November 2005, Missed m/c--baby boy actually died at alittle over 8 weeks--trisomy 21--8 week u/s showed a strong heartbeat).

Diagnosed with nothing--but age being a factor and borderline progesterone. DH seems to be the one with the bigger problems--abnormal shape and low concentration.

Conceived on my own with all three pregnancies, but haven't been able to get pregnant since last m/c.

Attempting IVF in February or March (most likely March!)

Kimmie_n_angus (thank you by the way) told me this is where I should be- so here I am. I've been off BCs for 23 months after using the pill for 10 years. Irregular & missed periods sent me to the doctor who gave me something (can't remember what) that would start my period but not make me ovulate since I'm not married. But DBF and I have been together for 3 years & I'm 31 and he's 40- so I'm not waiting for the marriage to start trying. Anyway- the doctor mentioned Clomid and PCOS but I told him to hold off, so he prescribed the stuff to make me start again and I started the OPKs. That was in October and I couldn't figure out the test I bought because there was too much left to MY idea of dark or darker- so November I bought a digital one and got my first :D- so at least I know I ovulate SOMETIMES on my own and ovulation in October and November were accompanied by BT, ovulation pains, and EWCM - I think---- but I had no signs in December and with the holiday stress and different cycle lengths I started testing too late to be sure for December. So now I'm waiting on AF this week to start again. Dr.s appt. in March will give me a full 6 mths of tracking and hopefully more than 1 ovulation to tell him about.

So sorry that mine was so long with absolutely NO real information since I haven't actually been 'diagnosed' with anything yet. I just know I haven't gotten PG and I haven't been doing anything to prevent in 23 months.

I don't really have a diagnosis. After getting off BCP I have had irregular and short cycles with "weak ovulation". Started clomid 50 mg for cycle 6 in November and I'm now on 100 mg clomid.
I had no problems getting PG with DS 6 years ago. I will try to get an appointment with an RE as soon as possible since my OB truly is not a fertility expert.

No official diagnosis although I suspect PCOS. I've never been tested for it but definitely have a lot of the symptoms.

After 12 years on BCP, had very irregular and long cycles for 11 months. Competely stopped having AF in May 06. Saw my ob/gyn in July 06 - prescribed Prometrium to bring on AF and Clomid to induce ovulation. Early August 06 - a trip to the ER for back pain resulted in a CT scan which showed an ovarian cyst on my left ovary. Mid-August 06 - had laparotomy surgery to remove the 8 cm dermoid cyst. The cyst was so large that my left ovary and fallopian tube were also removed. After a three month recovery period from the surgery, back to TTC. Currently in my first Clomid cycle. Doctor said he would like to try Femara next cycle if I don't get my BFP this cycle.

diagnosis: none - apart from being 38.
regular cycles, ovulation each month, normal LP. I been charting for the last 5 cycles.

story: i wore an IUD most of my fertile life. i tried the pill a few times, it made me nausius and gave me bad migraines. DBF has 2 kids and wasn't too keen about having another one, until our loss (m/c) he is seriously reconsidering his refusal. we are not preventing. He seems to want to go in the same direction I am heading... :D

m/c: one about 2 weeks ago, i was 7 weeks along.

My diagnosis: TTC after vas reversal.

Story: We had 3 girls before I was 21, (all under the age of 4) we were both young and that was stressful. I felt like a crazy woman. Anyway, we decided we didn't want more kids so DH had a vasectomy in May '98. I wish now we would have tried other stuff, but I got preggo on Norplant with #3, so we didn't trust any birth control. Well now life has calmed down a bit, the kids are great and I want more. We have talked about it now and then over the years and Jan 06 DH surprised me with baby stuff for our anniversay, he had decided he was as ready as I was to see if the reversal would work. So he had the surgery and we have been trying ever since with no luck, I didn't think it would take this long. We will try for another year and if nothing happens then I think we will be grateful for the kids we have and move on with our lives. :?

July 2003 became foster parents to twin 2 mo olds. Wanted children of our own, obgyn said if we haven't gotten prego by now we were infertile. DH & I married 4 yrs.

Adoption was offered to us in 2004. We opted to not persue infertility issues (insurance was poor) and persued the adoption. I became prego with quadruplets. We were to have 6 children under the age of 3!!!! We were shocked and pleased.

I m/c at 10 weeks. The adoption fell through 8 weeks after. We lost 6 children...... in three months.

July 2006 went to infertility specialist. Had blood work done--normal. MRI of uterus (because of a bicorrnet uterus) no infertility problems. Had my fl. tubes x-rayed (or flushed) no problem. DH sperm great. Took 6 weeks of every 2-3 days going to dr to check for ovulation. Nothing.

My problem? I don't ovulate.

Began Clomid and 500mg Metformin (dr wanted me to take 2000mg but couldn't tolerate it, due to my Multiple Sclerosis dx 2002) 12/06 getting ready to start round two.

This is really interesting to read. I notice alot is VETs have PCOS. I didn't realise that.

My Diagnosis.

We have been trying to conceive since October 2005 (15months) I'm 39 (37 when we started TTC), DH is 35. Both of us have been pregnant before in different relationships but no children.

DH has low motility which we improved with exercise, diet and fertility blend for 3 months. I have no infertility issues apart from advanced age. I have 29 day cycles always, I ovulate on day 15, 123lbs, healthy, exercise often.

Test done:- sperm analysis x4, die test on uterus and tubes (all clear), STD check on both of us.

We have tried clomid (1 month), 2 IUIs, 2 IVF (one fresh, one thaw), but we have not been successful so far. We will try another thaw cycle in Feb 2007.

TTC since March 2006

After developing ammenoreah (sp?) and slight milk discharge, I went for further testing. Diagnosed Oct 30, 2001 with a prolactinoma (a type of Pituitary tumor). Periods returned a couple of months later.

Medicated and under control and bloodwork stable for the most part since 2002. Diagnosed with mild hypothyroidism in 2002 as well.

My fertility tests have been normal. I appear to be ovulating...last month was supposedly anovulatory, though. DH has a decent S/A...some irreg but Dr not concerned.
I need to schedule my HSG this month if I don't get my bday wish!

Hi, I am new to the board. we have been TTC for 2 years now. We have been seeing an RE since 03/06 where we had 2 IUI, and 2 IVF, results were 2 M/C, both Ectopic, 1 needing emergency Lap. It was a rough year!

My DX- Poor Egg quality and High FSH ranging from 10-13.5

I am 31 years old, no children, 1 ovary due to Rt ovary being removed in my early 20's due to complex cysts. Due to having 1 ovary I do not produce amny eggs and they have aged rapidly since my surgery.

B/C in the past: B/C Pills for 5 years and 3 Depo shots which resulted in 13 months of No AF

We have decided to go with an Egg Donor for our last IVF in Feb/March 2007

Hi! I am new to the board as far as posting goes.

History: M/C October 1993, and February 1994. TTC until I was diagnosed with moderate to sever endometriosis. I had surgery to correct and remove adhesions in June of 1995. became pregnant with DS in December of 95. Then, my surprise baby--I got pregnant with DD when DS was 10 months old.

Several years of BC, as I didn't think I wanted to have any more children. In the 8 year interim, I got divorced, met the love of my life, got remarried, and began TTC February of 2006. I got pregnant in November of 2006, and am currently 9 weeks pregnant with an anembrionic pregnancy/ blighted ovum. Blood tests showed a recent toxoplasmosis infection which likely caused the baby not to develop. I will either miscarry on my own or have a D&C.

Not sure where I am going with TTC in the future.

DH is 31; I am 34.

My story: well where do i start.... 4 losses :( starting November 2002, next one was Oct 2003, 3rd one was April 2004 and last was April 2005. i havent been able to conceive since. Each one miscaried at about 7 weeks. after the first - we did progestrone when i got pregnant with the second. then we started on clomid, glucophage (to lower slightly elevated insulin levels) and folic acid 4mg per day. I finally got frustrated and went off of everything except the folic acid and 1 baby aspirin per day. we did ultrasound monitoring with the clomid and each time at 6 weeks there was a heartbeat, the next week when i would go back there would be none. One time the preganancy was completly gone! Its been a year now and i get more sad by the day since nothing has happened. The next step...Gonal-F injections and HCG injections. Unfortunatly i dont have the extra $$ for the Gonal-F and my insurance doesnt cover much of it. So now what???? my husband and i are both 33 years old. We are kind of settled in our life now (i have 2 step children) but i still want to have one of my own. My step kids are great, but they have a mom.... I know i am lucky to have them, but is it wrong for me to wish i had at least one of my own? Now all of my friends are starting families too.... it breaks my heart that i am having so much trouble but on the other hand i am so happy for them.

At 20 I had only had AF a handful of times so my Family Dr put me on BC to get AF and mentioned I would most likely have problems with fertility. 3 years later I went off BC a few months before the wedding so we've been NPP since Feb 2003. Since going off BC, AF has started and seems to be becoming more normal every year. Last year I had an average cycle of about 50 days. Sept 2006 my Dr tested and found PCOS and prescribed Metformin (4x day). I have not started to take any medications just yet. Plan to start charting my temps soon and becoming more active in TTC.

I'm new to the boards, but here is my story:
I'm 31, DH is 30, been married and NPP for 5 years, TTC for over 2. No prior PG's for either me or my husband.
Just started seeing RE in December, HSG showed blocked right fallopian tube, all other tests & BW good. DH had low volume & morphology in 2 tests that RE thinks is just 'performance anxiety' (I don't blame him :!: ). Decided to go with RE's recommendation of ZIFT procedure because he suspects endo and wants visual confirmation, and RE has GREAT success with ZIFT.
Started Lupron injections for suppression cycle on Feb 2nd, went for US and RE found cyst. Had to stop Lupron and start 1 month of BCP. 2 1/2 weeks later US showed cyst was gone.
I have 1 more day of BCP and then waiting for AF so I can start the suppression cycle again.

Well, Since my DS was born in 1990 (I was 17, Doctors didn't think I would be able to have a child due to extreme hormone problems... They tried me on B/C but I had a reaction and stayed on AF for two months.. a month later I became pregnant with DS who is 16 years old now) I've not used any type of B/C since having my son. I've had three M/C over the years the last one was in Oct. 2001. For the most part of the 90's I had no AF what so ever. After my M/C in 2001 I decided I wanted to have another child so bad. In Nov. 01 I was diagnosed with PCOS and was told I had probably had more m/c with out knowing because I was developing immature eggs because of the hormone imbalance. I was placed on Clomid for 6 cycles with no luck. I moved and took a 6 month break from the meds.. My new Dr at the time put me on another 6 cycles of clomid with no luck. Those two years was a really bad emotional roller coaster for me. At that time I decided to let be what ever is meant to be. The depression was just to much. 2004 I had 1 AF, 2005 I had 1 AF. In Sept. 2006 I decided I couldn't handle the symptoms of PCOS anymore and wanted to do something about it and went in search of natural supplements and vitamins, I used natural progesterone to jump start my period in Sept., started my new life diet and have had AF ever since, I've lost 43 lbs. At first my AF's were about 28 days.. then in dec. I had a long one.. 45 days and this last one was 54 days. I had my first appt. with RE Last Thursday March 29, 2007 She wants to try two cycles of clomid which I wasn't happy about this because I've done this before. Was hoping to address some of the PCOS problems and maybe try Femara and Metiforim. I have an HSG on April 11, 2007. Start Clomid on April 4, 2007 and have an MLP Test April 20, 2007. She is starting me off this time on 100mg. Hoping this round is the one!!! Sorry so long...lol..

Hi all, I have not been on in a long while. But I have now come to the realization that I need the additional support that you all so graciously provide. DH and I have been TTC since June of 06 - I've been off birth conrol pills since March 06. After not having a period for about 5 weeks then having one for 5 weeks straight, my OBGYN ran a slew of tests, then diagonosed me with PCOS in October of 06. Since then I have been on 500mg Metformin 3x/day and Medroxyprogesterone on days 15-25 to start AF. Last month I found out my sister is pregnant, I am really happy for her, this will be her first. She is 5 years older than me and it makes sense for her to have kids before me. However I would be fooling myself if I did not admit that it makes me realize, all the more, my own failed attempts at motherhood. The last several months I have not been charting or temping anything - i needed a break from it for a while. I plan to start all that again if nothing else, so my OBGYN will have it to help plan my next steps.

Good Luck to all of you!
Jennifer

We have been TTC since june 05, all of my labs seem to be normal, unfortunately my dh has 0 sperm count. The RE tested my dh's FSH, and came back at 13. The RE said sperm donor or testicular biopsy are our only options.

Our Story: I'm 24 and Chris, DH, is 25. We've been together for 8yrs. TTC since January 2006. Married March 2006. Never been PG, to my knowledge. Started talking to OB in June 2006 about no PG results. He finally put me on Clomid for 3 cycles (OCT-DEC 2006). I ovulated but no BFPs. Met with RE for first time FEB. 12, 2007. Consult went well. She said she'd wait til my next AF, I'd come in on CD3 and she'd run some Blood Tests and put me back on Clomid. The week after AF, I'd come back in for SHG, HSG, & US. The week after that, hopefully, she could do first IUI. In the mean time, I got DH s/a done and all is fine there. I never got AF (after 2 months). She put me on Provera. Tomorrow is last day of that. DH now has suspected Varicocele (sp?). Goes in for US on 4/25. I've done a lot of research in past 2 months (nothing else to do...LOL) and I suspect PCOS. I have ALL visible symtoms. I have just one question: Where is Dr. HOUSE when you need him!!! LOL!!!

Good Luck to us ALL!!

UDATE::: Finally got AF and got to go back to the Dr. Did U/S and baseline BW. U/S confirmed self diagnosis of PCOS. Right ovary is polycystic and left ovary appears to be normal. Hopefully, I will be put on Metformin soon. I go in for the HSG on 5/1/07. My DH is fine as well; he had a hydrocele which is caused by infection and is cured wtih antibiotics.

UPDATE #2::: Went for the HSG on 5/1 and finally saw my actual RE again. "Beautiful" uterus and clear tubes. She seems to think that PCOS isn't an issue b/c she says that 11 follies in my right ovary is normal for my age?? Her diagnosis is "Unexplained Infertility." She wants to proceed with an IUI in June '07, which is my next cycle. DH and I will try "naturally" for the last time in May and hope for the best.

UPDATE #3::: We had our first Clomid/IUI in JUNE '07. I had 2 follies and he had 56 million swimmers. Failed. Our second Clomid/IUI was beginning JULY '07. I had one follie and he had 28 million swimmers with 60% motility. Failed. Our 3rd and final Clomid/IUI was end of JULY '07. I had two follies...one on the right and one on the left. He had 45 million swimmers with 90% motility. BFP but ended in m/c at 4 weeks.

UPDATE #4::: We are broke. Can't do anymore IUI's but Dr doesn't want to do anymore of those anyway unless I'm on Lupron. She would prefer to do IVF but that's outta the question. Takes money to do that. Lupron/IUI isn't cheap either. We've decided to keep me on either Clomid or Femara, have timed intercourse, and stay on Progesterone after O and see what happens after a few months of that. At least until we can save up some money.

UPDATE #5::: It's been nearly a year since that last update. I'm now almost 26 and DH just turned 26 in June '08. Yesterday marked a year since I had my one and only + PG test. I went on Femara, Baby Aspirin, Vitamins Galore, and Metformin from JAN-APR 08. Though I haven't been to a Dr since 8/07. I got the meds online from some very caring friends. The meds did what they were supposed to do as far as my body and hormones are concerned but didn't result in any PG. Ran out of meds in APR. Still no money. Tired. Frustrated. Adoption! We decided in May 08 that we needed to start the adoption process. DH changed his mind a month later when we discovered the cost of $28K for domestic infant adoption. We're in debt far enough he said. I told him I was done "trying" and he'd have to accept that for now. We have not been "trying" since APR 08 but not preventing either. It's 8/8/08 today. I'm 19DPO / CD34. Tested yesterday. Negative. AF is screwing with me. It's felt good to take a "break" as I've not temped, charted, taken meds, timed BDing, etc. I do feel a little guilty though...like I'm not giving it my all. My sanity is more important right now. Get to meet Kim (kss717) next week at the beach!

Hi! I am Patty. Me and DH have been TTC since July 05. Was diagnosed with Endo last year. Had surgery to have it removed, got pg right after and had m/c # 1. A few months later got pg again, had m/c #2. Still trying for our first baby.
I will be turning 35 in June and really wanted to be pg by then!

Ok , my story in a nutshell... Me 43, DH 42...met 17 years ago at work. Met up again in 06 ,fell in love got pg m/c twins 6/06. Married this wonderful man 7/06. Kept trying and nothing happened. I was refered to an RE in Jan went through a boatload of tests. Had a chemical m/c 5/07. Diagnosed with Thyroid disease 7/07. IUI #1 11/07 failed, IUI #2 12/07 BFP, sadly m/c a boy at 10 weeks. Insurance didn't cover IVF til June 08. I don't have too much of a problem getting pg just carrying. Considering my diagnosis with the RE is diminished Ovarian Reserve and my high FSH(in their opinion). DH and I know it will happen for us! I changed RE's because he kept pushing domor eggs. I found a new RE in 8/08. I had a 2nd HSG done and was diagnosed with septate uterus. I had surgery in 10/08 to have it fixed. Considering my age and thyroid disease IVF is the best way for us. I had high FSH this past 1/09 so I will be taking an injection of Cetrotide on 2/5 to lower the FSH and proceed with IVF.
I changed RE's in Aug!

I was diagnosed with a septate uterus in Sept. I had surgery in Oct to fix it. I am starting IVF next cycle!!! Mid Feb '09

We started ttc in July 2003. I've had all my lab work come back fine. We got pregnant in February 2007. Found out DH's sperm count was low, but didn't pay too much attention to the results because we had found out the day before I was pregnant. Then we mc in March. I'm still waiting for my pregnancy hormone to finish going down, then our doctor said to wait 3 cycles before we start trying again. So we're waiting. Oh - I'm 30 and DH is 36. That's us in a nutshell!

okay... here goes.

DH and I have been married for almost 6 years. We began NPP/TTC in December of 2003. After a year of trying and no luck, we were put on Clomid for 3 cycles. Then we went to an RE who conducted initial tests and could find nothing wrong with us. Thus, we were diagosed with "unexplained infertility" I had a laparoscopy for possible endometriosis (none was found) We did another cycle of Clomid with an IUI (BFN)

Ended up switching Dr.s due to being called and told I was pregnant and it was a mistake (Yeah, they called the wrong Stephanie) We requested our medical records and They also had the wrong semen analysis in DH's files (same name, different person ... DH has a common name) Oh, and this guy was voted Best in Boston for infertility!

Ended up switching Dr's and found out that I have a borderline FSH level (12) and DH has a low sperm count due to a varicocele he had when he was 15.

Did our First IVF in Nov of 05 which resulted in a healthy pregnancy. We are currently getting ready to do some more testing and do our Second IVF in the summer or fall pending outcomes of my tests.......

(1997) My first pregnancy was like text book. I gave birth to a very healthy 8 lb 7 1/2 oz baby boy. He came on his due date even. The whole birth was completely natural. No complications or anything.

Two years later I got the BFP again. It was really faint though... and i felt... different.... can't really explain the 'different' feeling. But I knew something wasn't right... every once in awhile i'd have these strange twinges. I made it to 8 or 9 weeks... i don't remember... and we went in for an ultra sound... We saw the embryotic sac... but it was empty. So I then was scheduled for a D & C. My diagnosis: blighted ovum.

Two years after that I got another BFP. I was really nervous about it though. Again, I had that feeling that something was wrong. To ease my mind the doctor allowed an U/S. There was a heartbeat.. but it was only 60 BPM. I was 3 1/2 months along. Then came the spotting... but it subsided as quickly as it came. Doc wanted to wait another 2 weeks before we did another U/S to see if there was a chance things would be okay. We waited... I started spotting again. At U/S #2 the heart beat was gone. The baby died.

Doc wanted to see if I would miscarry naturally because something to do with the fact that scar tissue build up from D & C's makes it harder to keep baby in place. I think thats what he said... I don't remember anymore. So he sent me home to miscarry.
I layed around for hours.... literally having contractions...strong ones... and bleeding like crazy...
A day went by and I had lost so much blood I passed out. So back to the ER I went. I had to have an emergency D & C because they feared I was hemmorageing. Baby wasn't going to come out on its own.

its been 6 almost 7 years since my first miscarriage.

My cycles have been regular for the most part. THat is until last October. I missed my period for that month... Only spotted for two days and stopped.

Then in March of this year I didn't have a period again at all.
Now here I am again in May.. I was supposed to start on the 8th, but nothing happened.

My new doctor told me I have a pituitary gland tumor... I have had two MRI's. The first showed the tumor very small.. the second one showed it at 10mm in size. the MRI's were 6 months apart.

That is pretty much all the info I have on diagnosis... and I know much more tests need to be done.

I would also like to add that it is pretty safe to say that my husbands goods are in working order. I have a DSS (9 mo old) to prove it.

I've been married for 3 yrs now. My husband & I have been TTC ever since we first got married.
Last year I was diagnosed with endometriosis.
I had ultrasounds done, this was due to an ovarian cyst. I was put on BCP's to try & shrink the cyst. The cyst wasn't going away. My dr. decided to do a laparoscopy. During the lap, my dr. found endometriosis, & another cyst on my uterus.
I've had 2 laparoscopies & 1 laparotomy done due to ovarian cysts.
during my laparotomy I had half of my left ovary removed, & half of my left tube removed, also a cyst on my uterus was removed as well.
This recent laparoscopy (march 2007), my left remaining tube was found dilated. I had another cyst on my left ovary removed, & adhesions removed. My dr. also found a cyst on my right ovary which wasn't removed.
I'm waiting to have an HSG test done for my right fallopian tube.
Since I have the endometriosis & issues with my tubes. My dr. told my husband & I that IVF would be the best route to go for me.
At this time If my tube isn't blocked I feel that a specialist is the best way to go.

I'm relatively new to the forums and have been floating back and forth between some of the topics. This seems like it might be a good place for me to "land" for a while.

My DH and I were married in August of '03 and have been TTC since May of '06. (I'm 30 and DH is 31) We were using OPK's originally (not charting) and finally got a BFP in March of '07. I was diagnosed with a blighted ovum in April and had a D&C on the 26th. Since then I have been waiting for AF to show so we can start trying again. I also started charting after the procedure and wish I had been doing it all along, oh well.

OB wants us to try for 6 more cycles before doing any testing and taking things to the next level. The only thing I have been diagnosed with is an ovarian cyst which seems to grow (and sometimes rupture) on a cyclical basis. Dr. doesn't seem too concerned about this affecting my fertility though.

I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you and hopefully celebrate all of our BFP's soon! :P

My Diagnosis: 5/06 dealing with constant pain. 9/06 laprascopy diagnosed endo, endo burned and removed. 5 months of failed clomid cycles...successfully "O"ing. MAR07 Clomid 150mg and Ovidrel injection...failed. The injection gave me HUGE cysts, lap 4/07 to drain cysts, only one small new spot of endo noticed. Also did HCG tubal dye test...right tube clear and good, left tube completely blocked...leaving alone hoping the right will do all the work. Also diagnosed with PCOS. Taking a two month "break" still trying but no meds.

Personal Background: I am 22 my DH is 25. We were married in September 2005, TTC since May 2006. This month marks one year of TTC...tough to accept.

My thoughts are with all of you, wishing you the best. I am here for support whenever you need it.

diagnosis: annovulation, unexplained infertility :?:

A little about me....DH is soon to be 30. I am soon to be 29. We have 2 beautiful boys who we are blessed to have. :D We had not trouble conceiving #1, but took clomid to have #2. I know we are blessed to have them, but we have always wanted four children. I will be OK if I NEVER have another one, but I will always wonder. We agreed when we were dating 11 years ago that we would have 4 kids.....I never thought we would have any trouble. I had thyroid cancer  a few years back and had to have radiation and some other treatments including a couple of surgeries. After the radiation, I stopped ovulating all together. #3 has been really hard. We have been TTC for over a year. I have been on Clomid for 2 months. I am currently 10.11dpo and my progesterone level this month was 22.6. :) I will be testing soon, in a couple days anyway. I had a m/c  the month before last and it put me out for about 2 weeks b/c it was soooo unexpected. It was early, but I still felt the loss.
I feel so blue right now. I don't know why. I cry about everything. I don't think that I am depressed. I think it is hormonal, but it has been a long hard road.

I just want you all to know that I will pray for you and your DH that you get that BFP you are waiting on.

I'm 31 and DH is 30. After 3 months of marriage, we decided to stop BCP and see what happens. Took my last pill, got AF a few days later, was pregnant 2 wks later. My DH kept telling me I was PG, but I told him it would take an act of God for me to get PG that fast. My OB/GYN nurse kept telling me I was irregular and was just getting ready for AF. All the HPT were BFN, but I just didn't feel right--nausea and sore breasts for weeks. I finally asked for a blood test and there was my BFP! 8 months later our DS was born. Since that was so easy, we decided to wait until 9 months before we were ready for the baby to be here to stop BCP. I went for my annual the month before we were planning TTC. She said to make sure I waited a good month after the BCP to start trying. So I stopped immediately. A few months later still nothing. My dr. was hesitant about trying Clomid since it was so easy the first time. So we tried for a few more months with no success. I tried Clomid 6/06 and 7/06. My BW showed that I wasn't Oing. So I did a glucose test and found out I am insulin resistant. I started Glyburide and watching my diet in 9/06. After 2 months of meds, we retested and BW was normal. A few weeks later I was having sore breasts, but no nausea. I took HPT and they worked!!! I got 4 BFP! I was so excited. The dr. did a Titer test the next day that showed I was 4-6 wks. We told everybody the next week for Christmas. Christmas Day I cramped all day, but I thought it was just the muscles stretching. Friday I was spotting and rushed to take another Titer. When I got back home, I passed a clot. I knew I had lost it, but the nurse and drs said it could be nothing--the BW had gone up, but not like it should have. Saturday morning I wasn't PG anymore. I was Dx with blighted ovum. Dr. said to wait 2 cycles before TTC. But after the 1st AF we weren't that careful, but still nothing. After 2nd AF, thought I felt Oing pains and BD all over the place. AF came and I lost it. Called dr. immediately for more Clomid. U/S showed good ovaries and follicles. Started Clomid and BW showed low estrogen. So followed Clomid with estrogen then did progesterone inserts after O. Progesterone was 8.4 and dr. wanted 10. Tried not to get my hopes up, but that doesn't work. AF came earlier this week. Taking next month off...maybe nature will take its course. I don't know what the deal is. 4 years ago I got PG just by looking at DH. Now it's taking some work.
Sorry to be so long. Thank you all for your welcomes.

Hi all.....my name is Katrina and I'm new here. My story in a nut shell....my husband, Jason (he is 27 , I am 29 ), and I have been together since 2002, married 6/06, and TTC for the last few years. I finally convinced him to be tested, my blood tests and HSG came back normal I also have normal LH rises per Clear Blue Easy OPK tests...and look to be "O'ing" based on my chart. Turned out he is sterile...it took us a little while to digest this but now we are moving forward. We ordered donor samples from Fairfax and went in for
IUI #1 5/07...BFN,
IUI #2 7/07....BFN,
IUI#3 9/07....BFN.
After 3 failures I went on Clomid 100mg
IUI #4 Clomid 10/19....BFN.
IUI #5 again on Clomid 11/20...BFN.
IUI #6 Clomid + Trigger 12/21...BFP 1/4/08!!!!!! 1st beta 14DPO 667,
2nd beta 17DPO 1752....first ultrasound at 6weeks 1day showed TRIPLETS OH MY!!
I think the success was from the Trigger shot...that's the only thing I did different this try.
I figured since the issue was supposedly not me that the IUI's would be automatic BFP...bummer. I wish I would have known about this board years ago...would have been nice to have some people that are where I am to talk to. Anyway, thanks for the welcomes...my fingers are crossed for all of you!!!!!!!!! Katrina

Hi all--
My name is Jo, DH Andy, and we're both 31. I've been a reader on APA for awhile, then I joined, now it has taken me two months to work up to jumping in, but today I did :D Such a dork, I know, but I've had an incredibly hard time sharing this with anyone. It's like speaking it out loud (or writing it down for that matter) makes it too real. Anyway, I posted on the welcome mat in TTC and realized after posting that struggling or medical assistance is actually where I belong. I'm not sure how many people are like me and surf all three, so here goes...

OK-so we've been actively trying 2 1/2 years...temping, OPKs, on and off Clomid, etc. and got the verdict in January (puny eggs and poor SA) that it was IVF/ICSI or nothing for us. Our target date is August 9th and I have my ultrasound tomorrow and CD 3 bloodwork on Saturday.

I wanted too to thank all of you for sharing your stories. Letting people know they are not alone in their struggles is a huge help and I have kept you all in my prayers for months. This site has been a blessing.
xoxo

Okay, I haven't been on APA in probably about 9 months... I just didn't have the energy to keep up anymore with how hectic work and school were (still doing both full-time). But, trying to get things moving again and want to catch back up with everyone - plus, my original TTC story was way too long, so here's the short(er) (and updated) version:

Background:
-- On BCP off & on (mostly on) for about 10+ years, until Dec. 2005.

-- Blood clot in leg in Dec. 2005. Stopped BCP immediately, and was put on Coumadin (anticoagulant) for blood clot. DBF (now DH) and I had just been starting to talk about kids, but not to the point of trying yet.

-- Doctor (family practice / OB) put me on Depo for 6 months (since would be dangerous to get PG while on Coumadin). I didn't like the idea of Depo, but didn't know that much about it and finally agreed (big mistake!).

-- Stopped Depo (and Coumadin) in June 2006 and started TTC/NPP (wasn't charting yet at that point). Cycles were irregular for over a year after stopping.

-- Started charting temps, etc. and actively TTC / timing BD in Feb. 2007.

-- Saw an RE in Aug. 2007 about irregular cycles, infertility, and concerns about Depo after-effects. Ultrasound showed normal follicle development, and CD3 blood tests for FSH and Estradiol showed everything fine there. However, because of my blood clot RE also did tests for clotting factors, and it turned out I was positive for two of them: Factor II (prothrombin) and Factor V (Leiden). Found this out in September 2007. Started taking low-dose aspirin once per day per RE's advice.

-- DH was also supposed to get an SA around this time, but he kept stalling, and then...

-- BFP in Oct. 2007; but then m/c at about 5-6 weeks. :boohoo:

-- RE didn't want to do anything else until I saw a hematologist; actually, when I told her about the PG and m/c, she kind of yelled at me for getting PG in the first place without knowing the impact of the two clotting factors combined. OB-GYN (experienced with high-risk PG) told me it was perfectly fine to keep TTC, but that I would just need to go on Lovenox right away if I got PG again.

-- Saw local hematologist in spring 2008 (took a while to find one and get in), but because I was positive for two factors (which is rare), he then referred me to a clotting specialist in San Francisco (about 60 mi. away). Saw that hematologist in Sept. 2008 (he was booked months out). According to the specialist, I shouldn't have any problems (aside from yes, will need Lovenox if get PG, etc.) - he said I don't even need to be on the aspirin, and shouldn't cause any problems getting PG.

-- Saw OB-GYN for follow-up TTC/infertility consult in Sept.; she sent me for HSG and DH for SA. Got the HSG done a few weeks ago; the procedure itself was torture (took 2 hours, 2 different radiologists, plus an OBGYN at the hospital to get the darn catheter in - or actually it was the 3rd catheter they tried - apparently I have an extraordinarily tight inner cervical OS; they even asked if I menstruate normally!). But, results were good; uterine lining looked normal, and tubes are both clear.

-- Now, just need to get DH in for his SA, of course. He's finally accepted that he has to do it (he figured since I got PG last Oct. he didn't need to anymore), but has been having some other health problems lately that have put him under a lot of stress, so I haven't pushed him too hard. Hopefully we'll get that done in the next month, though.

So, after all that....... still unexplained IF, after TTC for over 2 years. But, the first year or so I was still irregular from the Depo, and admittedly we've been moving a little slow with the diagnosis this year, but now that I'm almost done with school I'm finally mustering up the energy to start really pursuing our options if needed. So, we'll see...... trying to still have hope!

Hello all. I am new to all of this. A friend of mine recommended it to me...so here is my story:

I am 28 and DH is 36. We have been TTC for 3 years.

0 pregnancies. HSG clear. Lap found Endo and cyst.

Me: I had Pre-cancer cells on my cervix at age 16 and again at 21. Both times I had Cryo. Then at age 23 I was diagnosed with PCOS. 2 years later we started TTC. In April of this year my RE did a Lap and found Endometreosis and a cyst on my fallopian tube! We are on our 3rd round of Femara! We are due to test on July 17th!!!

DH: Had a testicular torsion at age 10 and has low sperm count. He is taking Clomid and being a total trooper!

Although I feel this is the cycle for us ~ if it doesn't take ~ we are going to try IUI!

It is so good to hear other's stories....it is giving me some hope!!!!![/b][/i]

Began bleeding and would not stop, 7 months went to new ob/gyn, had another D&C. Placed on BC and Metformin. (which I didn't take after 1 month)

Was told that in addition to PCOS I also had Hyperplasia w/atypia.

No periods for months and months, then bleeding started again and did not stop. May, 2006 went to dr. put my on progesteroine to shed uteras. Severe bleeding.

Finally stopped on July 6, 2007

Pretty sure I ovulated this month and I am feeling pg. My test date is July 26th.

This message is to Maisies Mom;
I'm new here and saw your entry with your diagnosis.
Sorry to single you out, but I am axnious to speak to someone who's
been through what I have!

I was looking for someone who also had Cone biopsy for Cervical
Cancer!!

TTC 2years- PCOS also! On Glucophage for that.

I didn't think I could conceive naturally after Cone bx, until I read
your post!!
Is it true? Were you able to conceive naturally after cone?

I had 2 failed IUI's with Clomid--now taking a break because
Insurance doesn't cover. I was starting to lose hope as well until I read about you!

Please respond! Thanks!! :) Anyone else been through Cervical Cancer and now trying to conceive?? RE won't give me a straight answer if I can or can't conceive naturally!!

I'll try to make this short

Diagnosis:
Well I had my first ovarian cyst at 17 years old (Nov 2001) it was the size of a basketball and I looked about 5 months pg. But my Family Doctor said that nothing was wrong. After months of complaining of pain she sent me for a U/s the cyst was so big that's all they could see on the U/s. I then saw a OBGYN who couldn't believe that I had gone this long without treatment. Had Lap to drain cyst. The cyst came back 4 months later about the same size as before. So I had a laparotomy and had my ovary removed and was put on BCP to control the cysts. Went off of BCP June of 2005 didn't achieve pg and was having pain so saw a fertility specialist who did some u/s and found more cyts. I waited it out a couple of months to see if the cyst would clear up and if I would get pg. The cyst went away yet I was still having pain and not pg. So Nov 2005 I had another lap that revealed that my right tube was destroyed from previous surgeries, I have endo, adhesions, tons of scar tissue that was webbed between my uterus, tube and only ovary and my only tube the left one was blocked. She cleaned up the endo, scar tissue and adhesions and sent me to a tubal specialist who did a work up. Before starting medication to clear my tube he wanted dh to do a semen analysis to make sure everything was good on his end. Well he was born with a hernia that was repaired in 2002 and it destroyed his count. He had a very low count and low motility among other things. So we were refered to IVF. We got pg with dd in March of 2006. As of now I am seeing a new RE because I have more ovarian cyst that were found in June 2007 that are not clearing up and are getting bigger. We have our next appt on July 24.

I'm sorry I had missed this. I responded to you in random. Your doctor should be straight with you. He's basically your employee and you should, at the very LEAST, get a straight answer. He probably just doesn't know and won't admit it.

But having had a cone biopsy (even with cancer cells detected) isn't a fertility death sentence. Yes, we conceived using just metformin for the PCOS. Hanging on to them was another trick altogether! But, like I said in the other topic, that had nothing to do with the cone biopsy.

TTC Since Aug 2006

Irregular cycles, suspected PCOS but that was ruled out!! DH's S/A came back fine, excep low motility, we are working on that too!! Bloodwork in Jan 07 shows low Progestrone levels which hampers ovulation! So Dr started me on Duphaston (progestron supplement) to make my cycles regular! I take Duphaston from CD 16 to CD 25. 2 Months later OB/Gyn put me on Metformin and Clomid. Did three cycles on clomid and that did not work! July 07 was first cycle on Letrozole, it seemed to help ovulation but as of now we have decided to take a break off from the meds (Clomid and Letrozole) will continue Metformin and Duphaston from CD 16 for the next 2 cycles and see where we stand!!

Good Luck to all :vibes:

Thought I'd share my story with some of you who may not know me....wanted to add some ENCOURAGMENT.....

My story:
Started TTC in Dec. '04.....m/c Nov. '05....went to RE in Dec. '05 who was pretty sure I had endo from my history....
went in for Lap surgery in March '06....found out was at a REALLY BAD STAGE 3 ENDO...took care of that as best she could. My right tube still pretty bad off & UNLIKELY to ever get pregnant from that side.

After I had surgery they told Dh & I that are best chances of getting pregnant would be to go through IVF. So we jumped right in & went through our first round of IVF in June '06....that cycle FAILED  We tried again in Oct. '06....that too FAILED

At that point we were UPSET and frustrated with our RE office....so we got another opinion....that RE seemed to think we were pushed into IVF too quickly after surgery. This other RE recommended that we try to get my hormone levels back to "normal" & then go from there.

Still unsure of what to do....we had a THIRD opinion w/ a RE clear ACROSS THE COUNTRY....b/c we had decided as a couple that we'd only be willing to go through IVF ONE MORE TIME with either the new RE closer to home or the one across the country. We had decided that for the $$ & what this other RE was telling us...that it would be worth us taking the trip across country to give this IVF thing another try.

In the MEANTIME we'd try on our own again for a little while....

FAST FORWARD to April 2007....a few days after my 30th birthday...took a DIGITAL pregnancy test at 3am...to my waking eyes....BFP!!!!! :D

So there you have it ladies....sometimes it's due to medical reasons, sometimes it's just unexplained and sometimes it just comes down to the right timing...I think in our case....it was a good mixture of ALL THREE!!

As a side note....when I went to our old RE to confirm the BFP.....found out that I OVULATED AND CONCEIVED FROM MY RIGHT SIDE!!!!! So there are MIRACLES!! As you recall after I had my surgery in March we were told that b/c my tube was so messed up on my right side that we only had one side that was basically working for us! We showed them!!! :D

So here I am....in my THIRD TRIMESTER & STILL HOLDING MY BREATH!!! But I wanted to share my story.....for HOPE, LOVE, SUPPORT and ENCOURAGEMENT!!!!! :D

History:

-- On BCP for about 10 years, off and on
-- Blood clot in left calf Dec. 2005
-- On Coumadin from Dec. 2005 - June 2006; Dr. (Family Practice / OBGYN) switched me from BCP to Depo for that time due to blood clot (dr. insisted on some sort of hormonal BC due to being on Coumadin)
-- NPP since stopping Depo and Coumadin in June 2006
-- AF started again in Sept. 2006, gradually getting more regular towards early 2007
-- "Officially"/actively TTC (Temping/charting) since Feb. 2007
-- Short LP (9 days)
-- Couple of months with missed AF / anovulatory cycles in May-June 2007

Testing/Diagnoses (updated Oct. 13):

First RE appt. Aug. 30 2007 (at CD8). TVUS showed no sign of fibroids, and no cysts on either ovary; also normal number of follicles developing for my age (13 on R, 12 on L), so that was good news.

Tested positive for Factor II and Factor V clotting disorders Sept. 2007. No official treatment plan yet, but based on research, started myself on regimen of one low-dose aspirin per day. Will be seeing a perinatologist Oct. 23.

CD3 bloodwork came back normal:
-- FSH: 5.2
-- Estradiol: 22
-- TSH and Prolactin: normal (don't have numbers, but normal per RE)

Dec. 1, 2007 update:

-- Got PG on our own Oct. 2007, but spotted from 10DPO on, and m/c at 5 wks. Continuing to TTC naturally, while staying on 1 low-dose aspirin per day as clotting prophylactic (esp. since got PG during first cycle taking the aspirin). Oct. & Nov. cycles both had nice strong O and more consistent/higher post-O temps than previous cycles, so may mean the Depo is finally clearing out of my system (?). Hoping for another success, this time without m/c... in the meantime working with my OBGYN to monitor LP in case we need to try progesterone supplementation.

I hope you all don't mind me joining you all...I have been lurking in her for quite a while but couldn't post till just recently in respects for the 6 month rule. I hope that I am not invading, even though I have posted in a few threads lately.

My story: I stopped bcp last year around Aug to npp. I got pg in December but mc on Feb 2. At that point dh (mark) and I decided we really wanted to start ttc. I waited 4 months for af to show after my mc, but had to go to my dr to get provera to start. She told me that it was just like jump starting my system. I took it and had one normal cycle and charted, everything went great from what I could tell. Didn't time bd though so af came. Since then I have been waiting for o and af...it's been 64 days and counting.

I am sure most of you saw my thread "Dr's Apt (does this sound right?)". But I will recap...

Went in for blood test: TSH was 2.973, Prolactin 5.0. Dr. said test are in normal range, but said that I am not o'ing on a regular basis (dugh). She said that the only reason for me not o'ing is a "disconnect" from my brain to my ovary or from my ovary to my uterus.
She made many suggestions, Provera again, Clomid to make me o, bcp for 3 months to suppress o so that when I go off my chances of getting pg again are better, other firtility drugs, or just wait it out.

I am going to try to get a second opinion...and I was also thinking about doing the nat. prog. cream instead of provera to get af to start.

I guess that's my story, and I'll have to stick with it...

I hope a bfp is in store for all of you ladies, and SOON!!![/b]

My history: I had first child at age 23 after having a cyst removed from left ovary a year earlier. I have not used birth control since my thirties. I am 45. We suspect low sperm count. Some irregularity with AF -- longer cycle (38 days was longest), and then, shorter periods for a few months. LMP was July 16. Still no sign of AF. Over the years, we have tried a few times for a few months, and gave up. However, recently, we have really wanted to have a baby more than ever, and have decided to seriously TTC. We had such hopes that I was pregnant in September, but neg. HPTs and blood test. I am 85 CD now. Tested one last time with HPT. Feel sure by now AF would come or I'd get a positive preg. test.

Next step: Back to doctor for a checkup if AF does not come in October. It'll be three months since LMP! Will discuss Clomid; more blood work? Last ultrasounds and blood work were normal. Husband will get sperm checked.

Good evening ladies! I am brand new here. My DH and I have been married two years as of yesterday ( ) and I have not been on b/c since being married. We didnt 'officially' try until Jan of 06 and we charted/did OPK for 9 months. It became very stressful to us and we very rarely ever got an ovulation (from our records) and so we took a break from charting. When I was 17-18 I had a series of six months where I had 8 cysts rupture on my ovaries and I have been irregular since then, ie. 25-35 day cycles and I assumed we werent conceiving due to something related to that. My DH was Active duty Army at the time however was in the process of getting medical boarded out due to an injury so in our transition from Army to civilian we didnt use b/c, but didnt pursue it as hard as before. We got settled into our new life and in Dec of 06 we went to an infertility consultation to get DH a SA because his Army injury is in his groin and it came back normal. She offered all types of meds but we just werent quite ready. She did an ultrasound on me and I had no visible cysts or fibroids and my tubes were open from what she could see. She never took blood. I ended up getting pregnant on our own April 23rd of 2007 and getting a new OB/GYN. (I was charting again by this time). I have a severe medical condition with my airway where it is only the size of a 9 year olds and very fragile (I will be able, they think, to carry a full pg I just have to be careful in my physical activity and laying down). I called my new OB/GYN right when we found out and got right in and the day, May 15th, that I had my betaHCG done was the day that I miscarried at 5 weeks. They're not quite sure why I m/c and all tests for chromosome abnormalities has been normal. However thi s new OB/GYN did a full blood panel all throughout my cycle and found out I have high prolactyn levels and almost no FSH/LH as well as my thyroid is out of whack a little, not too much though. After seeing this she put me on progesterone to kick start my cycle (as of today I am on cycle day 50!) and I am 1/2 way through my progesterone. By learning that we cant 'naturally' concieve we have decided to try to do some rounds of Clomid that I will start on CD5 whenever my cycle decides to start.

WHEW, I have never typed that all out before! I am really looking foward to going through this journey with you ladies and offering my knowledge to you all as well as absorb some of yours.

UPDATE:
Well, this month marks 2 year anniversary of TTC and the 1 year anniversary of my last PG. :( So, I'm hoping this month is the month for BFP. Wanted Clomid in 8/07. Sono showed cyst on L ovary. BCP for 2 months. OB ready to get me PG plan:
1.BCP for 2 months,
2. Referral to RE while OB on maternity leave (thanks, I was supposed to be due),
3. Insemination after BCP.
So I went for sono CD2--all good. Clomid 150mg, HSG yesterday (all clear!), sono for follicle Monday--if 1 or 2 good follicles, HcG shot that night and insemination on Wednesday!!!!!!!! I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but this has to be it. Come on 1 or 2 good follicles and come on BFP!!! :)

UPDATE (3-4-08)
Well, IUI didn't work. Decided to try the RE--looks like insurance is paying part. Today is CD1. Went for U/S with RE. Start Clomid 100mg CD 5-9, then HcG trigger and IUI. Hope this works. Come on BFP!!

Hi! I'm new here but this looked like a place to start.

We started our TTC journey in April with high hopes of a "Spring Baby" After stopping BCP my periods also stopped. Thats when I made an appointment with an OB/GYN (An RE would mean a two hour+ trip and $$$). My OB/GYN ran a gauntlent of tests and put me on Provera followed by Clomid. I still did not ovulate. She then diagnosed me with PCOS and put me on Metformin, along with Provera followed by Clomid. I am currently on the first round of that. Its CD 4, and I start the Clomid tomorrow.

I'm needing support, this is horrible for me. Being a mom is my one lifelong dream and it seems so out of reach. Everyone I know is already pregnant. My one RL friend who was TTC announced her pregnancy yesterday. In another general forum I post on, the TTC thread has all but died, everyone is in the Pregnancy Thread. I just feel so alone. Its all I think about, its really getting to me.

DH & I have been TTC for over 2 years now. We started with the RE about one year ago. DH has low counts and motility, but it seems to fluxuate. We've had 5 failed IUI's and one failed IVF. All of my tests came out great until IVF. Now they say I am a poor responder and egg quality is not great.

DH & I are now trying accupuncture and unmedicated IUI's. We're hoping that my eggs will be better without all the meds. Hopefully his swimmers will improve with the accupuncture.

Good luck everyone!

I'm not officially TTC until December, but I m/c in 2006 (a surprise).

My story is potentially problematic, even though I have concieved already.

When I was 19, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. My right ovary was demolished behind a 15lb tumor. Luckily, my left ovary is still intact and I didn't have to endure chemo which spares me of possible damage. (Even then, docs worked hard to preserve my fertility)

My husband and I are preparing ourselves to encounter problems conceiving naturally. My doctors say I should be fine, but until I go to term, I'll be scared crazy.

TTC for two years. Did the testing gamut with OB in early 07 - I've never failed so many tests in my life!!! Biopsy showed prog deficiency. HSG (followed by laporoscopy/hysteroscopy) found a huge uterine septum, endo, and an ovarian cyst. OB removed the endo and cyst and referred me to specialist for septum removal (8/07). Things looked good at follow-up HSG (9/07) so started IUI cycle, but cancelled after late b/w result showed I'm a CF carrier. DH tested negative, so started a clomid iui cycle in October 07 and hoping, hoping, hoping for a BFP.

I'm 31, DH is also 31. TTC since August 2006.

Nov '06- pre-cancerous cells found on my cervix (CIN 2) which I had removed in a LLETZ cone biopsy. Doc said I would be good to go to keep trying to get pg during this time, and that the surgery would not reduce my chances.

After 6 months of no BFP went back to doc who orderd a few day 21 tests that showed weak progesterone (levels were at 9 one month, 12 the next).

Laparoscopy/Hysteroscopy June '07 - tubes clear, some endometriosis found on my right ligament holding up my uterus. OB/GYN removed it. He then put me on 50 mg clomid but I didn't ovulate. Next month tried 100mg, still no BFP, but my day 21 progesterone came back in the 80's, so I definitely ovulated.

Then 3rd month on clomid was lucky - BFP with 100mg clomid (days 2-6), instead cups, and preseed. I had cramps and doc suggested 100mg/ prometrium daily. Unfortunately, it ended in M/C at 6 weeks 1 day. My hcg never got above 189, so, it wasn't good from the start. This was in the midst of an international move, job search, packing, trans-atlantic flight, etc, so I still feel guilty that the stress caused the M/C.

Am now settled and ready to try again. This is my first month since the M/C. I decided to take a few months off from TTC, but I couldn't help it, I did an OPK this month and it was positive. It's the first time in 13 months that I've even SEEN a positive. And I wasn't on clomid this month, so I wonder if the M/C re-set my hormone levels and I'm now ovulating on my own. We did BD, but, am scared it might be positive and it might end badly again. (Today is 10 dpo). Am currently taking 200mg prometrium daily. Have been having cramps, so, am thinking positive thoughts - maybe it's implantation?

Phew! Sorry, that's really long, isn't it? I didn't mean to write a novel! And I hope that all of us will have BFP's very soon! Thanks to everyone for being so great and supportive.

Everytime that I say Im not going to try any more something happens to make me want to try even harder!!!

I still am so upset and depressed and then my period came. I keep telling myself that maybe its God trying to tell me to wait my turn but I just cant make this feeling go away. Does anyone know whether you can conceive with uterine or fallopian tube scarring tissue? I had light mentrual flow after abortion, and haven't conceived after 8 months at age 39.

Thanks,

My doctor told me that most women that have scarring in the tubes can not conceive, but there is some procedure that can be done to unblock them the tubes.

I think you should just follow the flow, and take whatever will come in your way in terms of getting pregant. You don't need to strive to get pregant, as you are young and have other priorities in life. Your pregnancy will come at the right time.

We've been trying for over 3 years now.

In February we started the testing. I had an HSG (horrible experience) and all showed fine. My charts are fine. Husband's s/c was somewhat low. (first test done after a trip to FL to visit his dying grandfather...just a little stressed) On second test it was better but still on the low side. We were referred to specialists.

While deciding on seeing said specialists/trying to schedule an appointment, I convinced him to up his vitamin intake.

Then in July I noticed something. My boobs were huge and sore...BFP! All it took was him to have a week away from work (go figure). And then I got offered a job I really wanted. I debated since it isn't exactly an easy job while pregnant. Between the safety issues and not having FMLA I really debated. Then I took the job.
All going well until a few days before an appointment about 9 weeks in. I noticed a little spotting. At the appointment she said the uterus looked small and scheduled an ultrasound two days later. As I was changing for the ultrasound I had a large clot. The ultrasound showed our worst fears...no heartbeat. They scheduled the D&C for the next day. I started the new job a week and half later.

We've just started trying again, but I don't know....I'm not sure I can go through this all again. Part of me will alway believe that I lost my baby because I accepted the job. (btw...the job is painting theatrical scenery. Its what I went to school for) So that's where I'm at. I'm still heartbroken and angry at losing the baby. I'm 30 and I feel like I'm running out of time.

Hi all -

Husband and I have been TTC since June. Have had very irregular cycles and a lot of pre-period spotting...but hormones all checked out fine. Was diagnosed with a small retroverted uterus. Had an HSG - where they noticed my uterus wasn't shaped right, which led to an MRI that diagnosed me w/ a septated uterus, but due to my retroverted uterus, they couldn't get a clear picture - so if I don't get a BFP this month - they'll do another MRI so they can be 100% sure. Also had a chemical pregnancy in October - didn't detect ovulation - but it must have happened - but lost it after 4 weeks  / Also was diagnosed with cycsts in the kidney, had multiple eye surgeries for another issue - 2007 was a really crappy and stessful year. So here's to health and babies in 2008! :D

Hi everyone. Mu husband and I have not been "preventing" pregnancy for 5 years. We have been trying officially for close to a year. Saw the IF doc last Feb. (07) and found I had a polyp in my uterus and had that removed in May. Healed from that for a few months and were supposed to do IUI in Sept. 07 then found I was rubella immune and had to get the shot and wait another month. Started clomid and had IUIs in Oct. and Nov with no luck. Went for a vaginal ultra on 12/24 and discovered 2 mature follicles so they gave me a shot to ovulate and told us to get busy! Found out 1/8 I am pregnant, but my hcg was only 30. Then on 1/11 had more blood taken and hcg was only 43. Have another test scheduled for tomorrow, but it's not looking good - just saying my prayers right now!

TTC since March 2007. On BCP for 12 years prior. Cycles are 28 to 29 days with moderate flow. HSG normal, blood work normal and semen analysis looked good so I guess we're unexplained at this point. Suprised by the high number of women with PCOS. How do you test for this? Is this something that the RE screens for during the first few visits? I was so happy to hear about the effects of accupuncture for one of you, something to consider if iui doesn't work.

Hi, I am kinda new here too. I was on this page about a few mo ago, but haven't been posting, just reading. My DH and I have been TTC for 13 mo. After 9 mo I went to the doc - he did bloodwork, vaginal U/S b/c my charts looked like I was not O'ing and he thought that I might have PCOS. At the same time he did a semen analysis on my DH. My tests all came back "normal" but DH's SA came back with normal counts but slow motility and 0% normal morphology (which would be effecting the motility). My doc refused to put me on Clomid b/c of DH's results (even though I wasn't O'ing) - so I got a new doc. He gave me an Rx for 50 mg Clomid to start on Day 5 and take until Day 10. My DH has also been to see an Urologist - which did a second SA w/ same results so my DH is also being put on Clomid. I am planning on picking up DH's Rx this afternoon and getting my Rx filled (I am on day 32 and should be starting AF any time now).

So here are my concerns:
1. I have irregular length cycles (32-40 days) w/ some cycles of anovulation, I have read that clomid can make your cycles longer...not what I am looking forward to. I figured some of you may have had some experience w/ clomid and might be able to offer some insight. Does clomid make your cycles longer? If I end up having to take Clomid for more than one cycle will the day that I ovulate and the length of the cycle stay consistent?
2. Does anyone have any advice on DH morphology? After doing some browsing on the internet - Clomid doesn't seem to have reliable results on males (it is more of a "hey, lets try this...). The only thing I found that Clomid would be benifical for is to build muscle ;)
3. Lastly, I don't have the greatest quality CM (which could be linked to the fact that I don't O every month), but being put on clomid - this is another thing I am worried about. Any advice?

Sorry this is so long!

The only advice I can give you from my nursing experience is you may want to use clomid and try IUI or IVF. The reason for this would be the sperm morphology issue. You want the best sperm to penetrate the egg and an abnormal morphology may create problems with the fetus if one eventually implants.

Hi i'm a newbie, i ttced for 9 months. Went to gyno and said i had been trying for a year( couldn't wait any longer) She did tests ans suspected endometrosis. She referred me to an R.E, he did a lap July 2006. One tube completely blocked and ovaries covered in endo. after op we did 1 iui. Then went onto ivf and 2 fet with no bfp:sad: Took a break and registered with a new r.e, he wants me to do iui then move to ivf if not successful . I have also been seeing a Chinese dr for acupuncture and herbs, he has helped the endo so much. I look forward to getting to know you all. Hope 2008 is my year!

My husband had a vasectomy about 6 years ago with a previous marriage. He has 2 kids and I have none. We decided it was time to have a child together so he got a reversal. When he got the reversal, we found out one side of the vas defrens had a blow out and are unsure about the other side. We only saw heads with thin tales under the microscope which put us in the 70% chance category. Still no luck. If I'm not pregnant within 8 months then we are going for analysis to see our next step. Let's keep our fingers cross!

I wanted to introduce myself.
I'm 26. TTC #1 since June 2007. Cycles range from 30 to 44 days- long and not regular. Experienced suspected implantation bleedind followed by early m/c in 3 cycles total. Low progesterone suspected as cause of possible m/cs. Not confirmed due to lab losing blood work.
Had + OPKs in 4 out of 6 cycles using them. On one of the cycles that I didn't get a + my temps showed that I did ovulate and my cycle was actually 28 days (medicated). So I think that I ovulate at least some of the time on my own. Tests for PCOS and thyroid problems came back normal
Tried one round of Clomid in March 08 (50mg on days 5-9). Didn't work. Estradiol 89 on CD16 and Progesterone 7 on CD23. Currently taking Clomid break until August. Meet with RE on April 28th. Will continue to chart and BD :) during break. Praying for a BFP for myself and for all of you.

Looking for support in others with similar circumstances.

DH (Brad) and I were married in May, 2005. This was a second marriage for both of us. DH has two boys (12 & 7) from previous marriage, I have one boy (6) from previous marriage. Brad had a vasectomy 7 years ago. In February of 2007 he had a vasectomy reversal. TTC since June '07 when we got the green light. Test results for semen analysis came back very hopeful in July. Dr. said I should be pregnant within 6 months. Obviosly, that has not happened.

We were trying to do this with the "it will happen when it happens" philosophy until December. I started charting in January where we suspect we had a mc, nothing confirmed.

I have scheduled an appointment for 3/27 with fertility clinic. Our fingers are crossed that we will get a BFP in March and I can gladly cancel the appointment :)

Hi, I am new to the board. Here is some info about me.

First my name is Rebecca and I am 22 yrs old, I have been married for 3 yrs. I have a 3yr old son, healthy as can be. While pregnant with my son I was diagnosed with gastaional diabetes. Then diagnosed with diabetes type 2.

Have been trying TTC for about 2 yrs, then diagnosed with POCS. On Feb 20 I started my first round of Colmid 50mg, ALL tests are nomal. I am just waiting and hoping I become pregnant after so long, but I hear that it takes about 2-3 cycles before one becomes pregnant on Clomid? My diabetes type 2 is undercontrol and my A1c is 6.1 which is really good for me. So after reading all postson the boards gave me courage to post and tell me story and trust people that I don't know. I guess what I am asking is for support like everyone has done on the boards.

Thank you for listening

Rebecca

OMG glad to know I am not the only one going crazy TTC on Clomid!

Okay so I am Michelle, I am 27 years old and I have been married for 5 yrs been off pill for 3 yrs, TTC for 11 months...this will be month 12. Cycles 23-29 days...VERY light and very short. Preconception counseling (4/07) NP nothing to be concerned about being off for so long Sept...AF never came and was over a week late took test...BFN and then got AF and it was miserable and there were clots..makes me wonder...anyway callled NP got appt and did some tests. OB/GYN said tests were normal back in Sept. Well her Ma did. I asked for her to call me back it was a phone tag game with me and her MA. Got sick of waiting for her to call found new doc. in Dec. more tests since she said there is some concern b/c I have been off pill for so long. My labs were all crazy and she suspected that I had poor ovarian failure and that my labs results are what she would have expected from a 39 yr old. She put me on 50 mg clomid to see if that would help me ovulate better (b/c I was either not ovluating or when I did it was poor and late so my eggs were not mature enough). Anway I did ovulate last cycle and I start my next cycle of 50 mg on Monday. DH will be getting SA this month as well. Ps....I did ovulate well last cycle...finally! Of course if his SA abnormal then it is off to RE. We are going to try this month and April on Clomid and if no preg then she is going to check my tubes (perhaps flush em and try again) and depending on what she find or what labs look like we may be off to RE.

what is the ave length of time it takes to get prego on Clomid?

Hi everyone.

My name is Jessica, DH is David. I got off BCP about a year ago, since then we were trying and in the last cycle I have added temping and charting to my list of things to do!

I had weird cycles throughout adolescence and so it was not odd to me that they would be weird for several months after BCP. Everyone told me that it was normal to take a while and that the average is 6 months to a year before women conceive. I became concerned about my body when I didn't have a period naturally last cycle, we induced it with Provera

This cycle: started temping a little late, but we thought we caught the O. Not really sure now. My doc is concerned bc I keep getting BFNs and no sign of AF. Today is CD 42. If i still haven't seen her by Friday I am supposed to test again, if BFN, start provera again the next day. On CD23, go in for labs to check progesterone, thryoid, etc.

DH and I were TTC since 2004. Diagnosed varicocele. DH had surgery to remove it. Sperm count was not the best after 6 months. First round of IVF ICSI (June 06) successful. Diagnosed with pre-term labor and dynamic cervix at 6 months gestation. Bedrest for three months. Delivered two healthy babies at week 38.

We are now trying for our third baby. We haven't approached the fertility clinic yet but will if nothing happens within the next 6 months.

Good luck to everyone.

Over the last few months my cycle has been pretty strange. But this month tops the cake. First I started spotting on the 20th day of my cycle. For 2 days, there was brown discharge and a very light pink spotting. Now on the 30th day of my cycle, I am having cramps like a full cycle-lower back pain (intense), and I notice more light red blood. This time feels like the real AF. I also have frequent urination. My breast have gotten larger and fuller than they ever have during my cycle. I feel as if I want to throw up after I eat. Can anybody offer some advice. I just took my yearly pelvic exam in late Feb. It came back perfectly normal on all fronts. I also just had an ultrasound to rule out any fibroid problems. That checked out as well. Please help. I feel horrible and don't know what to do.

Hi, I'm Courtney.

Have been TTCing for 2 yrs. Had a BFP in December of '06, but got a BFN a week later. Finally went to doctor in June of '07. Was diagnosed with a tumor on my pituitary gland. Am now on Dostinex to correct prolactean imbalance. Still no BFP. Started my first Clomid cycle on February 26th at 50mg, no LH surge at all this month. Am finally starting to chart my temps, hopefully that will help. My doctor told me not to chart since it is a big inconvenience according to her, but a friend of mine at work went through this with all 3 of her kids, and told me to try it. Clomid has made me very emotional and snappy this month. Doctor might raise the doesage, but haven't heard from her yet.

Hi girls! I'm Jessie and have been TTC since Jan.

2002: DIagnosed with large uterine fibroid which was surgically removed.

2004: got married :)

2008: finally ready for children, because of my prior diagnosis I go to an RE. Ultrasound shows MORE fibroids! If the fibroids are not inside my uterus, I may be able to carry a child. If fibroids are inside, I'll need another surgery :crying: Next step is to have an MRI to really check out my reproductive system.

Update: HSG showed one partially blocked tube, one clear tube and no firboids inside uterus. MRI shows more fibroids, one is 6cm, one is 3cm and a lot of small ones. My RE is giving me 4 more months to try for a natural pregnancy, after that I have to have surgery to remove the fibroids and then we can TTC again 3 months after surgery.

Fresh off the pill and TTC. I have diagnosed problems ovulating. I went off the pill 2 years ago, had 3 ever lengthening cycles and then no period for 3 months. The DR. tested me for PCOS and my hormones are all normal. I just don't ovulate all the time, no reason given. So I had a hormonal period on Feb. 23 and immediately started charting ovualtion. According to the test strips I had an LH surge on March 16. I have no cycle length to use for a base line. I took a HPT on March 26- BFN. When should I be testing?

TTC #1 since June 2006. We started Clomid in April of 2007,was diagnosed with PCOS, perscribed metformin for insulin resistance. Got pregnant on 75 mg of Clomid in June 2007 (1 year later and month 3 of Clomid). We took off July August September for my body to heal. Started Clomid in October 75 mg again. This is my sixth and final cycle of Clomid. Dr raised Clomid to 100 mg for this month. I have had an Ultrasound and they found nothing unusual. I am hoping to get in to see the local RE in April and start down the path of IUI.

Hello,

DH & I have been trying to conceive #2 since October 2007.
We have had two chemical pregnancy losses.
First one occurred the first week in January between 4-5 wks.
Second one occurred the first week in April between 4-5 wks.
My cycle is almost always 28 -29 days with typical O on cd 16, typical luteal phase 12 days.
The only other known fact right now is that I have the RH factor, but so far I have been given the shot to prevent 'attacking antibodies' from being created.

My first 'serious' appointment with my doctor is on April 10, 2008.
I will keep the group updated with my progress.

Thanks for all of your support!

Hi Girls! I've been around for many months but haven't posted in this thread because I kept thinking (er, wishing!) that my BFP was just around the corner. Well, it's been well over a year of TTC now. We just completed our fertility testing, exams, etc. and will have our first RE appt. next week. Wish me luck, and sending the same out to all of you! :)

Update: Male factor plus RE thinks I may have Endometriosis on one ovary. I'll have a pelvic ultrasound in early June to see if anything can be confirmed and then have a laparoscopy if needed. Then, if male factor is confirmed w/ a second SA, we'll move to IVF. Better start saving my pennies...

Update: Had laparoscopy in August to remove ovarian cyst and a small amount of endometriosis. Started IVF in early September, has gone very well, and will be testing in early October. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers for a beautiful BFP, please!

Update: IVF worked!!! Our beautiful Orion was born June 2009!

Update: We're trying for IUI this time around because our insurance covers it. All U/S, exams, bloodwork look good and DH's SA has improved, too. No known explanation for the turnaround, but of course, we're feeling very excited, blessed, and hopeful. Scheduled for our 1st IUI tomorrow. :bellyrubs:

Hey all...thought I'd throw my story out there! I went off the pill 12 cycles ago after over 8 years on it. We spent two cycles trying to prevent, then another two just "seeing what happened". We quickly realized that due to our crazy schedules, our timing might not have been great, so we decided to try timing things better. We're on our 8th cycle of doing that. About 5 months ago, I had a cycle with spotting about a week before AF (I normally have spotting a day or two before AF, but this was new.) and some cramping. AF showed up and was insanely heavy. My OB thinks it *might* have been a chem pregnancy, but we don't know for sure. After that, I've been consistently spotting 4 to 5 days before AF. Had an ultrasound 2 months ago that was completely normal. No fibroids, no problems there. The spotting has gotten heavier the last two months, and so my doc is now suspicious of luteal phase deficiency. So this cycle, I'm starting progesterone after O to see if the spotting stops. One step at a time, I guess!

Well, I was on bcp,s when I found out that I was pregnant in Jan. 2005, that ended in ectopic pregnancy on Feb. 16, 2005. They had to remove my right fallopian tube bcause of rupture. Then we decided that we wanted to ttc. So we started as soon as we could.....No luck, so we were sent to a RE and DH had a SA done, everything was fine. I had an endometrial biopsy, the results were normal could have had a "slight" luteal phase defect but did not think we needed to worry about it. Then I had bloodwork, was diagnosed as mild hypothyroidism, started taking synthroid. I then had a HSG done and it came back normal. So we tried 3 cycles on Clomid with no luck, so the RE then ordered an injectible drug called Menopur, but there were some abnormal cells on my pap, so I had to have a colposcopy and wait 3 months to ttc again! Then I had some kind of intestinal problems and had to have a colonoscopy and take some meds for that, so that put us off even more. Then we just decided to chill for a while, but we were npp. Then in Oct. 2007 I came up pregnant! We were so excited, but I started to spot, and cramp about a week after and miscarried. I was about 5 weeks. Then I was waiting for AF to come after the m/c and it never did, so I called my RE in mid Dec. and they sent me for bloodwork and it was positive! But that also ended in M/c at about 5 weeks. My RE did the recurrent m/c blood tests, and they were all normal. Then I was told by that RE that the only way I would get pregnant and stay pregnant was to do IVF. I am no expert, but I think there are lots of other options out there that I have not yet done, bofore jumping to IVF because obviously I can get pregnant! So, I went for a 2nd opinion in Jan. and he totally agreed with me, so we were going to start taking progesterone pills starting after ovulation and continue until get af or bfp. So I was waiting on AF to come to start a new cycle and take the progesterone, but came up with another bfp! That also ended in m/c at 7wks. 3 days. So here I am. I had decided to take a break for a while, b/c didn't want to go through that again so I started on bcp's but now I have changed my mind so this cycle I am starting with the progesterone. So for now I am "unexplained".

We did 2 IUI with RE. Both with 100 mg Clomid CD 5-9, monitored with u/s, trigger shot. This month we did 150 mg. clomid. U/S yesterday showed too many small follicles. No IUI this month. So now we will start injectables. I don't understand why it is so difficult the second time around. It was so easy w/ DS. This has been 33 cycles of STC.
UPDATE 9-11-08: Started injectibles 7/08. HPT+ 8/15/08. 3rd HcG levels not right. U/S showed fetal pole 1 wk behind. No heartbeat at 7wk4days. Stopped progesterone. Miscarriage at 8 wks. Taking a few months off then trying again w/injectibles, trigger, and IUI.

Hello All

I'm 35 and DH is 36. We've been married since August 2004 and TTC #1 since March of 2005. I'm relatively healthy with regular 28 day cycles (have fibromyalgia but it is under control without the need for anything more than Tylenol.)

We tried for a few months with BBT and OPT, no success. Wasn't 100% I was ovulating. Because of my age and not wanting to wait too long we went to OBGYN who specialized in some of the simpler infertility treatments - IUI, etc. Thought the old ovaries might need waking up so he put us on clomid. Tried 2 months wit OPT and clomid w/ no success. So we moved on to the "testing phase". DH's "boys" are superman quality. :hero: Discovered that I had cervical stenosis during my first attempted HSG. It was so severe he couldn't perform the test. (Because I've never had a negative pap or surgery it was determined that it was a birth defect.)

Went through a very painful dilatation the following month and had the HSG and found the tubes were fine. Doc thought since all the "dust" had been blown out that if the "boys" didn't have any obstacles in their way that one round of IUI would do the trick. 5 IUI's on clomid later no PG. (Kind of glad we didn't. We could have ended up like John & Kate Plus 8. The old ovaries were producing 6 to 8 viable follicles every cycle. YIKES!)

He referred us to a wonderful RE and we went for a consult in October 2006. He diagnosed me with the "unexplained infertility". :headbang: The good news, he didn't think my stenosis was preventing us from getting PG. The bad news, he couldn't tell me what was preventing us from conceiving. Went through one round of IVF with ICSI in November 2006. I produced 13 follicles and 12 fertilized. 8 of the 12 grew to blastocyst. Just before Thanksgiving they implanted 2 "textbook" perfect blastocysts. (Of course everything was textbook about our procedure.) Found out two weeks later we were PG! Went for U/S on the 6/7 week, two DB's no HB. I spent that Christmas MCing.

Needless to say DH and I were devastated. I quickly declared a moratorium on TTC. I spent the following year fairly depressed. But this spring I finally sorted out my feelings and am ready to move forward. I guess I just need a rest from the roller-coaster.

Have a new attitude this time. So we're going to try it natural with the assistance of the OV watch for a few months and see what happens. If BFN's then we'll move on the IVF again.

Wishing you all luck!

Hello. DH and I are both about to turn 36. We were married Oct. 2006 and immediately began TTC. Started seeing RE Jan. 2007. After going through a battery of painful and expensive tests myself, the RE finally decided they should check my husband out. Found out that DH has no sperm. Tried four IUI attempts with donor sperm, one resulting in a chemical pregnancy (the one time the inseminations were done 1 & 24 hours after trigger). After reading several fertility books, based on my fertility signs, I have been ovulating within hours of receiving the HCG shot. My RE insists that every woman ovulates exactly 36 hours after the shot and the egg lives for 24 hours after that, so most of my cycles I had IUI after ovulation. This cycle will be my first cycle I will be trying AI at home (ICI) with no doctor involvement.

Hey ya'll,

I am new to this joint. I am so happy that I found it. It has brought me such joy to read everybody's story... I don't feel so alone!

My DH and I have been TTC for almost 2 years. We have a 7 1/2 yr son with lots of medical issues. He is truly a miracle. For more info, I posted on the PCOS thread.

I just found out 2 weeks ago that I have the "curse of the black pearl- ovaries." I was very upset. After doing a lot of research... I am not as depressed about having it.

My OB/GYN speacializes in infertility so, he put me on 2000mg of Metformin, 200mg of Prometrium, and I hopefully am going to start Femara 2.5mg days 5-7.

I have never been on meds to help me O. With my son, I stopped BCP and didn't have an AF for 4 months. My dr put me on Provera. I had to AFs and POW I was PG. I had a really bumpy ride for my PG. My son was born at 27wks gest. Today he is thriving and doing well.

I can't wait to start my journey with ya'll!

Good luck to all!

Ahh the storylines! After 2 years of TTC I finally went to the doc March 08 to see why I have no babies.I have reg cycles (30 days) no female issues, only thing he saw on US was I have tipped pelvis. We did HSG and like Gator, Nothing is wrong. I dont have PCOS tho my doc put me on Femara and Metformin, I dont have Diabetes but he was concerned about that. So I know what what I dont have but have no idea why I am not pregnant. No MC, pretty sure Im Ovulating, So Yeah :headbang:

I'm new to the group, but have been reading for a little while now. It's been great to read everyone's stories and know I'm not alone. I just found out on Friday that we're finally pregnant again (yeah!), but the journey has been anything but simple, which is why I wanted to share my story.

I have a DD from a previous marriage (she's 8), but I had to go through 3 rounds of Clomid to get pg with her. Then, last year, after about a year of trying on our own, my new husband and I went back to Clomid. Ironically, the 3rd round of Clomid worked again for us, only I didn't know it. After having AF, then having random spotting and some pain, I found out 9 weeks later I was indeed pg but it was ecptopic. Because of how far along I was, I had to have it surgically removed, along with my tube. Needless to say that was the worst thing I ever went through. So after several more Clomid tries with no success, we went to an RE.

Within 15 minutes of my first visit, he diagnosed me with PCOS (atypical) and Endometriosis (and I only had one tube). Then, my DH's 1st S/A count came back low, so that added more fun for us. DH's 2nd count came back good, so we got the ok to try IUI. After a slew of tests for me, including a hysterscopy to remove polyps from my uterus, we had our first IUI. As with PCOS, I had lots of follicles, however, all but one would eventually be mature enough for the procedure. This was disappointing in itself, but coupled with DH's low count on insemenation day, I just knew it could never work...or so I thought.

Like I said previously, we just found out on Friday we're pg. I am still in shock and didn't really believe it until my second hcg test today. I truly believe that if something is meant to be, it will be. Somehow, against all odds, we were able to get pg the first time. I wanted to tell my story, not to gloat that I'm pg, but to show you all that it can and will happen for you all...it just takes time. Stay positive and baby dust to all!

I have been ttc since July of 2006. My husband and I conceived the first time in August 2007 and had a miscarriage at 101/2 weeks. We conceived again in February 2008 and that ended up in a chemical pregnany. In November of 2006, I was put on provera to start AF. I did not ovulate and was switched from provera to prometrium because of the side effects to start AF. In February of 2007 I started going in for monthly progesterone level checks and in May was put on clomid 50mg. The first month I ovulated, second month I didn't, and third month the clomid was bumped up to 100mg. That was the cycle that I conceived on. Without clomid, my progesterone levels are usually 0.72 (every time under 1.0). After the first mc AF never returned so I was given prometrium after 6 weeks and then started clomid again around December. I had a chemical pregnancy in February. Since then the doctor seems to think that my body does not produce progesterone and so since February, I have been taking prometrium from day 15-day 32 and than I test on day 32. If it is positive than I keep taking prometrium for the first trimester, if negative I stop and AF shows up. I have two more cycles on clomid which will be at 100mg these next two months and than I will be sent to a specialist in September if I am not pregnant. The doctor has not run any specific tests on either myself or my DH and he doesn't see why I can't conceive again and sustain this pregnancy. So that is my story in a nutshell.

I am new to this forum and I am so thankful I found it. None of my close friends are TTC or have children yet.

My DH and I have been NPP since September 2006 but due to work circumstances we have only seen each other on the weekends for the past year. So we TTC for one year and then we were apart five out of seven days a week for a year. Needless to say, we have had no + tests yet. After being on BCP for nearly 8 years, my body took a while to regulate itself. I am finally back on a normal cycle and since I am now home throughout the week, we have been TTC for the past three months. My next test date is around July 21.

I have not been to the doctor regarding TTC issues because I am worried about what the doc will say regarding my weight. I am trying to lose weight and am down almost 15 pounds since I started keeping track of my weight.

Best wishes to all and thanks for reading.

My name is Amber, DH is Tony. I am 29 and he is 28. Went off BC in April last year and got pg in May. Miscarried and had a D&C July 10, 2007 (wow...almost a year). Took a couple of months off, started trying again but not pushing the issue late last year. Had my yearly check up in Feb and OB/GYN gave me until the end of summer to get pg on my own. I pushed the issue and called yesterday because I am impatient and he agreed that it is time for him to intervene. First appointment is next Friday, so as of now I am undiagnosed.

I'm new here and apologize of I posted this in the wrong place!! I wanted to share my story and ask some questions. To make it short and simple I have had endometriosis since I stared my periods at age 15; I'm now 29 and suffering more and more with it each year. I have had many laps for endo w/ the most recent being May 2008 and during this most recent surgery my Dr, in his own words, "blew out my tubes" to make sure there were no adhesions inside preventing the egg from making it home! he said there was alot of growth in both tubes and that he had to use more than the usual amount of pressure to get them cleaned out but that I am completely cleared out and should be able to get PG easily within the next 3 or 4 months (please keep in mind my husband and I have been thru all the tests up to but not including IUI or IVF becasue of the costs; I am operating perfectly and so is he!). Anyway, my husband is 54 and I am 29 this is my 2nd marriage. My husband and I HAVE been TTC since even before we married last year. It's been a little over a year and still nothing. Last month was negative...but this month we really stuck to the dates and did our best to make it happen... I am due to start my cycle Friday the 11th but I have been suffering from some heavy duty symptoms over the last 2 weeks, serious nausea, severe fatigue, moodiness, crying for absolutely no reason... in fact I woke up at 0530 this morning with unusual pelvic pain and when I got up to potty there was a light pink color on the tissue, but nothing after that so far today, but the unusual pain is still there... with the endo i have had severely painful periods for many years but they have been very regular... this month I am seeing pink on the paper a few days early which never happens...according to my cycle days I should have ovulated on the 27th of May... we had sex a few times 3 or 4 days before then and a few times since then... I took a $ store test this past weekend and it was negative... could i have done it way too early? could the pain i'm having today be implantation?... i'm so lost and confused... i just need to talk to someone besides family and hubby!!! thanks for listening!!

Hi, everybody. DH & I have been ttc since 11/07. I'm 38. We've both been tested (SA, HSG, BW, etc) and everything came out fine, so we are unexplained. The only possible issue is that I have a large fibroid. It's outside of my uterus, so not likely the reason we've having trouble getting PG. Decided to leave it alone for now, to avoid risk of scarring from surgery. I also had been having spotting about 8 days after O, but 2 months on Clomid did the trick. That said, we are going forward with Clomid IUI next cycle to try to move things along.

Jennifer- I saw your post, but do not know anything about Endo. Good Luck to you!

Hello:hi:
I am 30 years old and DH is 28. We have been ttc'ing since December 2006. Went for Dr.'s visit in October and was told to keep trying - she did some blood work and found nothing. In March/April went for another Dr's appt and was sent for a Vaginal/pelvic ultrasound - nothing found.

Got a call on Tuesday that I have been set up for an appointment with a fertility Dr October 10th...very excited & nervous. Would like to get a BFP before then so DH does not have to do any testing. If there is something wrong, I would rather it be me then him.:shocker:

Good evening! So, I am 30 (as of yesterday) and TTC for about 10 months (unsuccessfully!) So far, NOTHING. I was on BCP for almost 8 years....and since coming off the pill, I have had really random cycles. My DH (an MD) is convinced I am not ovulating but we have no real evidence of that!

SO, I finally began the quest for answers yesterday with an OB/GYN appt (with an amazing midwife) and received my referral to a RE and had Day 3 tests drawn. FSH 10/LH 6.....so, per the internet, that makes me "borderline low egg reserve" although I have not gotten any kind of diagnosis to date! Looking forward (I guess) to getting in to RE but apparently it will be quite the wait....however, I would love to hear other's experiences and learn more about what lies ahead for the future (It seems rather needle in the haystackish to me.....I am hoping I am wrong!):silly:

My diagnosis is endo wnich was diagnosed this year and have a past history of ovarian cysts and trauma to my one fallopian tube from a car accident. Have had a few lap procedures to get rid of scar tissue, ovarian cysts, and adhesions. We have a beautiful two year old daughter that was conceived on BCP (missed quite a few pills). We started trying 15 months ago for our second and have been unsuccessful since. Getting ready to start my next round of Clomid. If it does not work this time, I will take Clomid with the trigger shot.

In January 2005 I found out that I have uterine Fibroids. I had gotten on this loosing weight kick so I just figured I was doing to much when I was in pain. I found out it was Fibroids and had to have Lupron shots for 6 months to shrink them. I also had a Histopilagraph(not sure on spelling) to see if tubes are blocked. The doctor said 1 tube is block. I was also placed on clomid for a month and nothing happened. Later in 2006my husband was tested and the doctor said that we probably will only get pregnant by IVF. I underlined doctor because I don't receive any of that in my spirit. There is only one doctor and that's GOD. In luke 1:37 "For with God nothing will be impossible." I have believed that since the day my husband and I was sitting in the doctor's office. It is now 2008 and I believe it now more then I ever have. I speak it out of my mouth and have faith in my heart. I'am  for all of us.

God Bless

Copied over from another board, this is me! :)

Me (30) DH (36)
7/07 -- Finally diagnosed with PCOS started on Metformin 1500 mg ER daily
By 9/07 I'm on a "normal" 30 day cycle and have lost 10 pounds!
10/07 -- DH & I marry! Awww...Newlyweds!
1/12/2008 -- First BFP pregnancy test
2/05/2008 -- Salpingectomy for ectopic pregnancy (They removed my left fallopian tube)
03/08 -- Life starts to get back to normal except no AF.
04/08 to present -- I start a program of diet and exercise designed for PCOS women and eventually lose 30 more lbs for a total of 40 lbs lost. AF never comes to visit on time. Each month around day 35-40, I am put on Prometrium to trigger AF.
7/17/08 -- DH and I go back to visit RE. DH's sperm count, mobility and all that good stuff is waaaay high. They told me to pat him on the back. The problem is obviously moi. RE had me change the way I'm taking my metformin. It's extended release, so I was taking it all at once and it wasn't being absorbed by my body. I started Prometrium 3 days ago and am waiting for AF so I can start counting cycle days again.

The plan is to take two 50mg tabs of Clomid days 3-7 then schedule US on days 10, 11, or 12. Ovidrel shot approximately day 14 and insemination a few days afterwards!

I am officially on CD 4 and will take my second dose of Clomid tonight. I haven't really noticed any symptoms from the Clomid and honestly that alone has me on pins and needles.

Well I am new to this forum thing...I was married for 6 years and we tried to conceive with no positive outcome. My husband then found himself a girlfriend and got her pregant while we were married so that just destroyed me. But I have a great guy now and I had surgery in jan 08 for stage 1 endo and removal of a uterine septum. Everyone around me is getting pregnant and I cannot stand it anymore. I mean I am happy for them but at the same time very very jealous! Has anyone had a positive outcome after lap and hyst surgery?????

Hello, I am new and so happy to be a part of this now:) I am 25 years old, DH is also, we have been together for 8 years- married 3- and TTC since Nov 2006. DH is AirForce Security forces and is gone alot, but managed to be home for at least 2 of my fertile days each month. X-mas day got our first BFP! everything looked great at first 3 appt's, went in for 14 week and no heartbeat...told to wait 5 days come back...no heartbeat still...D&C that day. I was a wreck! That is when my obsession began. I cant help it. I was the happiest i had ever been in my life when i was pregnant- DH and I were in absolute la la land. It was the most amazing 14 weeks of my life. And like a drug, i know need it. I feel like why can every 15 year old high school girl get pregnant on "accident" and I cant even do it on purpose? lol. So 8 weeks after m/c#1, starting cramping and bleeding massively, DH took me to hospital- told we m/c again and didnt even know we were pg. At this point the military hospital/clinic knew me by 1st name (which is rare for military doctors) and luckily i had an amazing Primary Care Manager through Tri-Care Ins. who ordered fertility workup on blood and semen. 4 weeks later got a call and i was granted an appt. with the fertility doctor in town who then informed me of my MTHFR and Factor V Leiden disorders. On 81mg aspirin,prenatal,B100 complex,4mg foilic acid,1000mcg b-12 daily and am not giving up! Awaiting BFP patiently....well not so patiently:)

Here's my story. TTC 1 year 8 months. Done all the tests and everythings fine with both of us. I have a tilted uterus, but they say that's not the problem. They are calling it unexplained infertility. We are planning on doing an IUI with clomid on my next cycle.

I am 35 years old, my husband is 32. Been TTC since May 2007. HSG was normal. Semen analysis normal. Regular periods even when I went off BC. No visible problems. I do have a backward uterus but they say that that is not an issue. I couldnt tell you how many cycles of Clomid I've been on...maybe 5 or 6, maybe 7. Had an IUI done last month with a hormone injection called Ovudril..nothing. Because the fertility clinic wanted their money for a 2nd IUI we had to forgo it on Saturday. I did have an ultrasound Thursday night and it showed 2 follicles that were ready and they gave me another hormone injection. So maybe it happened naturally this past weekend. It's very frustrating. All these people are around me having babies with no problems and they're the last ones that should be having babies. My ex best friend just told me last week that she's pregnant...she's been off the pill for maybe 2 months...she's unhealthy, smokes like a chimney and is overweight with high blood pressure and she's pregnant. I do everything in my power that is right for my body and nothing. I dont know what to do anymore. i know this is causing subconscious issues between me & my hubby. i'm tired of hearing "better luck next month" or "maybe its not meant to be". i dont know. i just dont know.

My diagnosis: NPP/TTC since Nov 2005 (depending on the day you ask me LOL). One suspected but unconfirmed loss in March of 2006. Diagnosed PCOS in June 2006. Diagnosis confirmed in September 2006. Actual TREATMENT of PCOS to begin Jan 5 2007. Does not ovulate. Husband is deployed till Jan 2008.

This was my post. Update:

Husband came home Jan 2008. Finally began ovulating - still did not concieve. Tried Clomid - had horrible reaction to it - did not concieve. Had an adoption fall through. Husband deployed again in Oct 08, expected to return in May 09.

Finally seeing some progress with the PCOS - but struggling every day to stay hopeful.

My story: I'm 31 my hubby is 30 and I've been off the depo shot for 14 months.:eyeroll:
6 months into not getting pregnant my gyn started me on clomid. That didn't work, so she refered me to an IF clinic. I'm now on my 2nd round of clomid at 100mg, the blood work says I'm ovulating so maybe just bad timing. :headbang:I go back to the my IF dr. on 11/19/08 to see what we do next..

Was on depo for nearly 7 years, came off due to menopausal symptoms 4 years ago. (I have two teenage children but remarried this year) My Cycle came back fairly quickly (after 4 months) but was short 23-25 days, hardly any bleeding and still the same now, although more painful. we have been TTC for a year now, m/c last dec @ 4w 5d. I beleive I have had a couple of v.faint BFP's since but no stickies :(

Had a Lap done in Aug, no endo, a few small Fibroids (maybe reason for pain???)

I have started doing more phys, taking vitamins, evening primrose oil. flaxseed oil and now have NPC to try, even if it all just helps the cycle and PMS i am having so much trouble with.

Hoping for another xmas BFP (but a stickie one!)

I'm 27 yrs old, I was diagnosed with severe endometriosis in 2006 through a laparoscopy (July 2006). (Most likely I have had endometriosis since 14 yrs old). The lap was done for a cyst on my left ovary.
With my laparoscopy my dr. couldn't get the cyst all the way, so my dr. told me that I would need a laparotomy, so the following month I had my laparotomy done.
with my laparotomy, I had half of my left tube & half of my left ovary removed.

I was told by my dr. that I would have the best chance of having a baby through IVF. This was because of my left side & my husbands low sperm/motility.
I had my 2nd laparoscopy done in March 2007, for another cyst on my left ovary. having 3 surgeries has caused a slightly elevated FSH level.
So Before starting IVF I went for an HSG test, it turned out that my right tube was blocked.

I started off with my first IVF cycle- Sept. 2007; my first cycle did work, but I ended up miscarrying. we used my husbands sperm got very poorly developed eggs.
2nd IVF cycle feb. 2008- stimulation meds increased, I only got 1 egg & multiple cysts.
3rd IVF cycle- Sept 2008: pretty good response to stimulation meds. I got 6 eggs better quality, we used donor sperm. We transferred 5 eggs; I ended up with 3 negative pregnancy tests. I'm really confused on what happened & a little upset.
Truthfully... I wish I never did IVF, all the drs. told me "oh it'll be easy to get you pregnant, since you are young". That's not always true in my case.

Lets see.... I went Nov. 25th for a 2nd HSG test & my right tube is open YEA!!! I was very surprised it was open, I wasn't expecting it to be open. Since I have the right side, I am going to try on my own. I'm not sure how easy that'll be though due to my endometriosis, & 1.5 ovaries & 1.5 tubes, & recurrent ovarian cysts. It'll probably be a little harder; I'm not sure.

well it seems like i'm always STC with every child..
This is my third try for a little girl..it will be my dh's 5 child i went off the pill in July 08
it took me 8 months to get pregnant with my first
it took me a year to get pregnant with my second
I know that seems like a walk in the park with all the waiting most of you are going through
So i'm figuring this time will be even longer
a couple of months ago i went to the er with cysts all over my ovairies and the dr said it looked like i had PCOS so i went to my doctor and she said she didn't think so and pu tme on provera and clomid I've done two rounds of that and this month af came on her own:gome:
So you all keep me in your prayers and i will do the same for you!!!
:babydust: to you all!!

Here's my story:

DH has issues, some of which are taken care of with meds, but related inabilities are not taken care of as of yet.

We tried for almost a year without any success on his part. I read about using Instead cups and he is able to, um deposit, in them (sorry :tmi:). We are on second cycle trying Instead. I am beginning to think this one was a bust too (the girls aren't as sore as they have been, so I'm pretty sure AF is on her way) though although I'm not out of the race yet.

DH does not want to use more specialized fertility methods until we've tried Instead for a few more months.

Hi. This is my first post on AMA.
My name is Kristin, I am 23 my DH is Derek also 23. I got pregnant with my first child when I was 15 just shy of 16. My son Jereth Isaiah was born at 22w due to his father beating me up when i was pregnant. Jereth was born 12-26-00. Fast Forward 5 years I moved to SD and met my now DH we started dating and a couple months later bam We got pregnant the first time with twins with no problems. Well I had a miscarraige in the end of May. I was around 5 weeks. I didnt know I was pg with twins until 6 days after DH and I got married. I woke up with blood everywhere. I went to the er. they did an ultrasound and said that the baby was dead and that I would need a D&C. I was told to see the dr in town that does the surgery to get my surgery date. I went to see him and he said he wanted to wait a week to let me try to do it on my own. Aug 2 2005 I had the surgery. A month later we were cleared to TTC again. We figured since we got pregnant so fast it would happen again WRONG!! We kept trying and trying and I got pregnant but miscarried everytime. Finally my periods stopped. Dh and I were at a loss. I went to my dr and they ran test after test all came back normal. I got dx with unexplained infertility and DH was sent in for a SA. He came back with a 10million count (LOW) and they had some motility issues. DH was given clomid. DH took the clomid for one month and had another SA it was the same. He stopped his clomid. It is now September 2006 and I fell pregnant again. The dr said everything was ok the first visit. I made it to 14 weeks and lost the baby. Every single ultrasound the baby's heart rate went down. So now its December of 06 my next cycle wasnt until January. I decided to be naugty and take some of DH's clomid and my own to make 100mg for my January 07 cycle. Well I took I took the 100mg and I left it at that. I didnt temp I didnt pay attention to my cycle. Well Feb 07 comes and I get the flu. Then March comes and my B day is the 2nd and Dh's is the 13th. I still hadnt gotten AF and decided to buy a pregnancy test to take so that I could call mydr and get my provera. Well much to my sleepy eyes. BFP!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY I had my little Suprise miracle on October 9th 2007 his name is Jaxon Tyler. I was induced with him because I had high blood pressure and severely bad pitting edema. Ok so Fast forward again. Dh and I started talking about getting pg again but decided to wait to actually TRY until Jaxon was 1. Well in June I got pregnant ON OUR OWN!!! YAY well not so much July 4th another miscarraige. DH and I were also seperated during this time. I had already filed for my divorce due to inappropriate behavior on DH's part. Well we decided to give our marraige another shot we stopped the divorce. Our first cycle officially TTC # 2 is This month. I just had a chemical pregnancy that ended on 12/23 I was 4w5d. Because of this chemical pregnancy I now have 7 angels in heaven. My dr and I have a plan I am on 100mg of clomid for 4 months. Then if no BFP I will go back to 50mg of clomid and 1500mg of Metformin.

Diagnosis: voluntary sterilization (me) 13 yrs ago, insulin-resistant, morbidly obese according to the oh-so-popular BMI charts

My story: DH and I have been together 6 yrs, married for 5. We've talked about having a baby but it's been just talk. The last few months, though, it's been serious. So we made an appt.

Options are to either have a reversal or IVF. Either way, I gotta lose a lot of weight. At the time, I thought the tubal was right. I did not want to have another child by myself. Too bad I couldn't foresee the future.

Diagnosis: Incompetent Cervix and my weight also plays an issue (underweight but cant seem to gain no matter what I try). Just diagnosed with Secondary Infertility...I will be finding out more soon.

My Story: I had an unexplained miscarriage at the age of 16, then at 19 I got pregnant with my first daughter. The pregnancy was very high risk and very complicated. I ended up having an emerency induction 5 weeks early due to Placenta Accreta & some other issues. During delivery, I damaged my cervix. After DD was born, we decided to try again, but I had 4 miscarriages from 2005-2006. We gave up after that because we figured my cervix would just dilate prematurely every time. I remained off any form of birth control. All of this really caused stress in my marriage, I left, and we seperated for almost four months & getting divorced and I got together with someone else (please dont judge me -but I have to explain this also since it plays a part). For a good few weeks in December 2007, my boyfriend and best friend kept joking that I was eating like I was pregnant, plus all my cravings, and even my boobs had grown. On December 20th, 2007 I got a BFP. I called my DH to tell him I was pregnant and two days later I informed my boyfriend. It was shortly after that that I broke it off with the boyfriend because he asked for an abortion. Now mind you -from 2005 to this point, it had taken almost three years for me to get a sticky BFP. I was offended. DH and I decided to save whatever was left of our broken marriage. ...Shortly after DD #2 was born, in October 2008, I got pregnant again but it ended in November. ...Now here we are again. It has only been 3 months since trying again but with my history, we are probably in it for the long haul once again.

Hi there,

Cause of not getting that BFP: unexplained
Months TTC: 11 months

DBF has no trouble in this departement since he got his ex pregnant while she was still on the pill.

For my part, I'm in my young twenties and every women in my family have the ability to get pregnant within three months. I've tried everything from changing exercise to healthier food ( I have a perfect balanced weight ) OPK, charting, but this month we'll try instead cup! If it doesn't work in the next two month I'm off to the doctor! Hope to have that BFP soon.

Been trying to conceive for ten months. I got off birth control pills (after almost 17 years of taking them). I stupidly thought that getting pregnant would be easy. Just do the homework right. :ohno: After about six months of trying, I went to the doctor. He made my husband go to the fertility clinic for a semen analysis. All they could tell me was low count and low amount. He went back for another analysis in six weeks, again all we were told was low count, low amount. The second analysis did show improvement. So we just spent two hours to see a urologist (absolutely wonderful doctor). He told us that they judged sperm on three different things. We were only good on one of the three. He prescribed clomid (for low count) and l-carnitine (for bad swimmers). In the meantime, I am still not ovulating from getting off the pill in march.. I think I am on day 50 now. I am beginning to feel like we don't have a chance if I am not ovulating. I mean if my eggs are dropping, we at least have some chance, right????

I have endometriosis. Two surgeries...and numerous hormone therapies. We've been TTC since May 2007, and have been on Clomid since May 2008. It's worked every time, except one month I took off and didn't ovulate.

Wish me luck this month! Good luck to everyone else!

I am new to this board. I am 30 yrs old and my dh is 35. I was on and off the depo shot since I was 21. I got off when dh and I got married in april of 2006. So I was on and off for 9 years. I have just went to the dr since we have not gotten pregnant in the past 2.5 years. So I don't have an actual diagnosis yet. The Dr has tested my hormones. I have a high level of DHEA and he has said I do not ovulate regularly. I have an enlarged liver from what he says also. He has sent me to an Endro specialist who has also sent me for hormone test. I have to wait another week to see the specialist to find out what he thinks and then the following week I go back to Dr to see what he says. So I am pretty new to this but I can see its going to be a struggle ttc #1.

Me: almost 36 DH: 44

TTC for almost 3 years. Had 3 consecutive mc's (probably more undocumented). We went to a RE - I had very low progesterone, didn't ovulate regularly and had high thyroid levels. Went on clomid for a couple of months, had an HCG trigger and got pregnant with our precious Benjamin. I took lots of progesterone and am still on thyroid meds. I know we had it fairly easy the first time but I'm worried about how long #2 will take.

I've been reading everyone's posts & it encouraged me to sign up.

Here's my story...(you can't stop reading at any time lol)

My husband & I have been married & living together since June 2006. I was on the pill until March 2007. From March 07-Oct 07 we were just leaving things to "if they happen they happen" mentality. Oct 07 we decided that we were going to concentrate on trying. I talked to my doctor in July 08 & told her we had been trying for a year (although not technically yet) & she gave me a referal to a fertility doctor. The day before my appointment I decided to take a HPT just for the heck of it. Found out I was pregnant (did another test at the clinic for good measure) & cancelled the appointment. 7 days after I got the best news of my life, I got the worst news of my life. I saw that I was no longer spotting "brown" & it turned into bright red. I was so incredibly scared. Found out afterwards that I indeed miscarried. I was devastated.

I was seeing people at work that really weren't the "mother" type & they were getting pregnant so I got jealous & made the appt to see the doctor again in Oct. Like all, they told me I had to wait until I started again & then they'd start the investigation cycle. Went through it, had the dye test, PCT, progesterone, etc. All came back normal along w/hubby's count. I started finding out (in December) all of these random people that i knew that were pregnant! It ranged from a relative in a bad relationship to people that weren't even trying & they'd only been married a couple of months to someone else who was due the same month that I had been (if I hadn't miscarried). So I flipped. At this time I knew 15 people that were pregnant...I had a hard time grasping why I couldn't be.

After the investigation cycle I went on Clomid, which didn't work. When we went back in to see the doctor I happened to ask a question about using artifical lubrication. He asked what we used & said to stop it. He suggested to use Preseed or a little bit of unscented Vaseline if necessary. Apparently, even if it doesn't have spermicide it can still affect the motility of the sperm. We had no idea. We thought we'd covered ourselves when we found out it didn't have spermicide. Almost felt like we had shot ourselves in the foot. We tried Clomid again for one more cycle & when that came PT came back negative I got discouraged & wanted to step things up.

This month we're trying Gonal-F (hormone shots) & IUI. I'm very nervous about it b/c as everyone here knows, it's pretty much a race against time. I'm so ready to be pregnant. At this stage (& stubbornness) I want to be pregnant, I want that bond & that feeling so badly. I'll gladly take the morning sickness, swollen ankles & everything that comes with it.

My moods go up & down from minute to minute & sometimes I can barely keep it together & keep my head above water. I wonder how come everyone else gets to have their happy ending. I didn't get to keep my baby.

My doctor also says he can't explain why right now, everything else tests okay (from what they can actually test). He keeps telling me it's not a questions of if, just when. I am trying to hold onto that hope. So here's to hoping it works :)

No diagnosis, I do not OV regularly. I am 36, had a quick good pregnancy 10 years ago (took me 2 months to concieve). Last yr got pregnant, took 12 months to concieve, no drugs, just old fashioned TTC, and MC @ 12 weeks. Ready to try again. Started clomid 100mg this month cd 14 went for ultrasound, follies too small, dr said I would probably not OV. Will try again in March. Would love some advice, I am new at this.

Hello!
Me: 24 years old, endometriosis diagnosed 3/08, left ovary and fallopian tube removed 6/08
DH: 25 years old, S/A shows low motility and funny shape, but the count is good
First IVF cycle in 1/09, BFN test
Second IVF cycle to start tommorrow
I'm so stressed about not doing everything perfectly to get pregnant. I've been seeing an acupuncturist and changed my diet drastically, so hopefully we'll get a BFP soon!

Hi to everyone this is my first time on a site like this, at first I thought I didn't need it but maybe I do, I quess I should start by telling my story and a little about myself, I am 42 and my husband 43 we have been married just 1 yr and we both have kids from previous merriages, I was pregnant in September and I couldn't have been more happy, but my happiness didn't last, I lost the baby :ohno: it was an etopic, yea so now I have only one tube and I also have HPV which my x-husband was kind enought to give me, other than that I am pretty healthy and I seem to be very fertile when I was younger I have 4 daughters, with my x but, I have never love and man like I love my husband now. he has 2 boys 18, 21 and I want nothing eles but to have a baby with him he is the best thing that has ever happend to me, my x was a nightmare and I gave him 4 kids we didn't really love each other but got married young and thought the kids would help we were very wrong , that's my story and I am not getting any younger and I have one tube is there any hope ? I just keep praying, Thanks for reading my story I needed to tell it

I'm 33 and DH is 31. We've been TTC since June only, so I know that it hasn't been too long yet, but my family doctor has referred me to a fertility specialist. I started charting right away, and it looks like I'm o'ing pretty regularily, and we've been having well planned BD. DH had SA and I've had the day 3 blood work done. Tomorrow I go for HSG and will get the results from all three tests after the HSG. I'm really looking forward to getting some answers.

I'm new to this site because i was looking for a support system for dealing with my IF. I am 25 and I have one child from a previous marriage. DH is almost 30 and he's never had children before so we have been TTC for the past 18 months with no sucess. My OB/GYN did blood work in January this year and informed me that i'm not ovulating, so he put me on 50mg of Clomid on Feb 20th and told me to come back in on CD21-23 to have more blood work done to check my progesterone levels. I had my progesterone levels checked this past monday and the nurse called yesterday to tell me that my levels are still really low so doc has upped my dosage to 100mg and i will start that 5 day after AF gets here. DH has already had a SA done and everything was fine for him. It's just frustrating to know I had no problems getting pregnant with my daughter this time 6 years ago.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this and trying to get the hang of the abbreviations,

DX: secondary amenorrhea (got my period at age 12 and then lost it after 2 years). I went through all the testing and nothing came up... thank god.

- My husband and I have been seeing an RE since Nov 2008 and he diagnosed me with hypothalemic amenorrhea. We've only done 2 rounds of the Repronex injections and tomorrow I'm going for bloodwork and ultrasound. My follicles are almost there! I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

DH and I have been TTC #1 since June, 2008. We stopped preventing pregnancy a little more than a year before we got married. While dating, I was on BC for about 4 months, then we were only using condoms. I've not been on BC since I stopped way back then. I was diagnosed w/Hypothyroidism at the age of 12 (I think) and have been treating that (sometimes sporadically through my late teens - early 20's) with Synthroid or Levothyroxine. While doctors haven't told me I'm obese, I know I am (that oh-so-lovely BMI). I've had little motivation to really buckle down and exercise and focus on weightloss, but I'm fairly certain that's the first thing docs will tell me to do when I go back for my "I've been TTC for 1 yr w/no results" appointment. Joy.

Other than that, I consider myself very lucky that I haven't had to endure the heartbreak of chemical pregnancies or miscarriages, while at the same time, it worries me that I haven't gotten pregnant at all in all this time. I've had friends tell me that during all the time DH and I didn't prevent pregnancy, I was "one lucky girl" to not have fallen pregnant w/out protection. Oh, how they don't understand!

My biggest thing now is trying to figure out the doctor situation. Since I wasn't sexually active until I started dating DH, I started seeing a family practitioner to ensure my thyroid stuff was being tracked after college, and as it happened, she was also able to do my yearly exams. I've never seen a proper OB/GYN, and since I plan on using a midwife when I do get pregnant, I'm unsure about the care provider I need to be seeing prior to being referred (should I need) to an RE. I don't much like my doctor now, since she basically refused to prescribe the antibiotics I needed when I had a sinus infection, and since it had progressed quickly and agressively, I knew I needed the antibiotics (I've had multiple sinus infections since jr-high, so I know when they're bad and need meds), but she brushed me off, insisting on waiting another 7-10 days to fight the infection (I was smelling the infection on the rare occasions the congestion eased up enough to restore my sense of smell temporarily). I went to urgent care 2 days later and they looked at me like I had 3 heads when I told them she didn't want to give me the meds I so obviously needed, so I'm not really "feeling it" with her now that I'm facing the 1-yr mark of TTC.

Started trying Jan 2008. I ovulate on my own(always on CD12) but cycles are varying between 22-30 days. Average 25 days. DH's semen analysis perfectly normal.
After about 10 months we see an acupuncturist but she does not prescribe herbs. SO I continued seeing her and then also started seeing an RE to get answers. HSG test showed left tube blocked. Tried 2 cycles of IUI + clomid(50mg). Both failed. RE notices polyps. So he recommends Lap+Hysterscopy.

April 2009: Had both procedures and the Lap proved that both tubes were open(The HSG test was all wrong!!!!) and there was no other issue. He removed the Polyp and said that we still come under the "unexplained category". Suggestion was to start IUI+injectibles or IVF.

We are not ready for it yet. We see a new Acupuncturist who specializes in fertility and also prescribes herbs. His goal is to get my cycles as regular as possible for 4 cycles. After that we will decide to go with IUI +injectibles to increases the chances of success!!!

Hello All,

I used to be a forum user when I had just started TTC in June 2008. I dropped out for a while because I thought I was stressing myself out more by being overly focused on the TTC process. I am back now because we are potentially heading into uncharted territory and am looking for support and advice from the great women of APA.

DH (34) and I(34) are close upon one year's worth of trying and nothing. Not one BFP. I have tracked CM as a marker for ovulation. Just this cycle I have been charting BBT and been reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility. I am 7DPO currently and my chart looks confusing so far. I am beginning to wonder if I am not producing enough progesterone because I get eggwhite CM, positive OPK (have used for past and current cycle), and a temp spike, and then I go down and hover around the cover line, slightly above. I am about to make an appointment with an OB/GYN to get checked out further, and we need to get DH get checked out too. I realize I need to chart more to know what my patterns are, but I did notice about two years ago, my previously heavy periods became "normal" periods. Don't know if that means anything, but we will see.

I look forward to learning from all of you and hope to be able to help others too.

Cristina

my story...that i just need to get off my chest.

i will be 35 in september and have been officially ttc since March of 08 but we were not on bc since 06. First started seeing an RE in October of 08. I have had IUI's with clomid(2),femara(1) and gonal f(2) and all were obviously unsuccessful.
we are diagnosed with unknown infertility as all our test are "normal". the last appt we have with the RE consisted of him basically saying that our next step is IVF, but my insurance doesn't pay for that and it's so expensive. Although it's an expense that i am willing to pay for but my husband is not so sure. So we have come to a compromise, we are now trying the ovwatch for a few months and then one more cycle of gonal f and if still bfn then we will consider ivf.
I'm just really bitter that it may have to come to that, everyone i know has had no problem getting pregnant so why us? we have this circle of friends and they are getting pregnant with no problem. I am the oldest female and have been married the longest out of all of the couples we know so i feel like they all look at me like what's wrong with you. Sometimes i look at me and say what's wrong with you. I am trying to not let this depression and negativity take me over but it's a tough fight that i'm not sure i can win.
thank you for letting me vent.

Hello All!
I'm 28 and my DH is 28 as well. We've been TTC since December 2007. Our first pregnancy in January of 2008 ended as an ectopic and methotrexate was used. Miscarried in August 2009, April 2009, and this month, July 2009.

I have had a HSG done in May 2009, which revealed a normal uterus but my right tube was blocked (probably due to ectopic but the Dr told me I had it in my left.) and my left tube was partial blocked. I had no surgery planned since I'm under 30. I was told to keep trying and slight HPT in June and then postive low serum test. But since I have passed tissue and my cervix was dilated so the Dr. said I was MCing.

This last MC in confusing since my hCG numbers tripled up then stayed the same. I'm going in on Monday to see what trend I am having. I've been reading the some women have a misdiagnosed MC. So I suppose this miscarriage is pending. My DH and I have been struggling emotionally and physically (for me) for our first child. I hope to learn and heal from reading your stories and hearing your advice.

Thank you for all your support,
Cindy

My name is Stephanie I am 22yrs old and my DH is 24yrs old.

We had our first baby on September 21,2007 and he past away January 14,2008. On May of 2008 we started TTC, it has been 1yr and 2 months and we havent had any luck.

My cycles at one point were 30days and 3 months ago they went back to 28days. We tried charting, having intercourse on the O days, we have tried anything that you can think of without DR's and no luck. We decided to take a break in charting because it was getting very stressful, but I am going to begin again and we will see what happens.

In 3 months from now if we still have no luck we will go see a specialist to get some answers and if it turns out that having our little angel was a one time opportunity we are going to adopt.

I have to confess that the idea of maybe not being able to conceive again scares me and adopting scares me even more.

I just wanted to update. We were able to conceive twice using Instead Cups (using the "deposit" method), but lost both. First baby, no abnormalities noted, second we didn't have any testing done. I am switching OB GYNs, as the one I went to never did blood work, never tested my progesterone or HCGs and generally didn't seem to give a ****.

I was tested to see if I was having clotting issues, as I have an autoimmune condition (Rheumatoid arthritis), but no issues were noted other than my RA was out of remission. Hoping this new doctor will be able to help/monitor better.

UPDATE 3/2010 Determined I do have a clotting issue - PAI-1. Unfortuntely, after it was diagnosed, I stopped ovulating. Could be stress, could be someone's idea of a cruel joke? This is my first month on Femara and on CD10 the ultrasound revealed one 15.5 mm follie and a couple others that were a little bit smaller. We're now on 18 months of struggling to be parents.

Here is my story.
I went off the pill in 2006. Took a few months, but got pregnant pretty easy actually. I did use the OPK because I wasn't sure when I was ovulating - worked the very first month!
Went to our first doc app at 12 weeks (they wouldn't see me before then), and the ultra sound wasn't good. They were pretty sure I was going to miscarry. Had to wait a week while I got my blood taken every few days. My levels never dropped, but my doc was pretty sure it wasn't a viable pregnancy. My second ultra sound confirmed it. Since I wasn't have any symptoms of one I decided to go with the d & c procedure. This was the very end of October 2006.
For most of 2007 I didn't really care.... I just wasn't ready I guess. However, we never used protection, so I was always hoping that maybe it would just happen! As I've said before, it doesn't seem to "just happen" for my husband and I. My periods that year were very spaced out, one month they would be around 42 days and then the next they would be closer to 50 (I think). It was like that the whole year though, so to me it seemed normal! When we decided to start trying again at the beginning of 2008, I finally got a blood test taken (after trying for a few months with no BFP), and it showed I wasn't ovulating. So, I went on clomid and got pregnant the second month. Miscarried that one very early. In fact had I waited another week or so I probably wouldn't have known that I was pregnant.
After that I decided to get the testing done. Tons of blood work - which all came back normal. HSG test showed a closed tube and filling defect in the uterus. At that point I was referred to a fertility specialist.
My first meeting with him was awesome. He said that he had a feeling that my HSG test was normal. He looked at it and said that the filling defect didn't look like anything and that my tube was probably ok... I guess when getting an HSG test done, the tube can spasm sometimes and make it seem like it's closed when it's not.
He decided that I needed to have laparoscopy and hysteroscopy to see that the deal was. He also had a feeling I had endometriosis and he diganosed me with PCOS because my history of not ovulating.
Had the procedure done in August of 2008 and everything he had thought was true - no closed tube, both were open. No filling defect in the uterus, but bad endometriosis. It was growing on my pelvic wall and floor. He said he got to it just in time. It was also starting to grow in the uterus, but wasn't full blown yet. He cleaned me out and basically said that my 2 m/c's were crappy luck. I guess I'm lucky that there wasn't anything wrong, but sometimes I almost wished there were so that it could be fixed, you know?
Anyway, I had to wait until November before we could start trying again. Went back on the clomid and tried until February. Nothing had happened and since I hated being on clomid and was becoming mental over not getting pregnant, I went off. I thought "screw this!"
What's weird is that I continued to have normal cycles and positive OPK. We tried for a few months on our own, and still nothing happened. In May I decided to be done for awhile. It became like to much of a "chore" and that's not what all this is supposed to be about, right?
We are now trying again and on Thursday I'm going to my first acupuncture app. I'm still not on clomid as my cycles are regular. The doc assistant at the clinic said that since my cycles are regular and I'm having positve OPK's then I'm probably ovulating. I can always do a blood test just to make sure.
I think I want to do some of the acupuncture though... see how that goes. Hopefully it will help with the stress level and get things in my body to where they should be.
Sorry for the long story - I'm just one of those people that can't do the short versions of stuff! :)
Love the site and love chatting with everyone out there. It's so comforting coming here. Thanks for listening everyone. :)

Hi all,

DH and I have been together 5 years, married 2. I went off the pill in January 08, our goal was to conceive by April. Began some half-hearted charting that summer, but was in my last year of grad school so not focusing on TTC as #1 priority yet. Months went by, then a year. Since I had been on the pill to regulate cycles my gyno said not to wait any longer and begin rounds of Clomid.

The first month I did not ovulate, that was on 50mg. We upped it to 100mg and the 2nd month I had three big eggies! Ovidrel injection, but alas, no BFP and we are back to the drawing board. This round is 100mg again. Doc says if I'm not pregnant in two more cycles she will check for any blockages in my tubes, etc.

DH has strong fertility, all of my levels are normal. There is no reason they can tell us as to why we are having difficulty. I know we've only been at it for a little while and been through only a fraction of what some here have, but I was very happy to find this forum and it has gotten me though some emotionally difficult moments these past 6 months. As you all have experienced, infertility is a tough thing to talk about with friends and family. Thank you for being here!

Right now I'm feeling optimistic, on my 3rd round of Clomid and all is well. I struggle with issues of jealousy (2 good friends are pregnant on their first tries) and depression, but my DH is awesome and helps me through. Anyway, it's nice to meet you all and I hope to get to know you better!

Hello! First time posting here. Been married since 2005 and decided to try for our baby early in '06 and got pregnant on the first attempt and Alexander was born 6 weeks early in Sept 06 since I developed Pre-Eclampsia. Decided to wait until he was 2 to try for a second. So we've been trying since May '08 without any luck. We've used OPK strips, I've charted my ovulation, etc...and not successful at all. I've even done a round of Clomid last month and got my period today so I'm quite bummed about it.

Just want to see how others are handling it since every month I'm feeling worse and worse about not getting pregnant. I'm 32 and Hubbie is 31.

Hi! So, I'm not very good at keeping it short when typing, unlike when I'm actually talking, but I'll try!

DH and I have been married for 3 wonderful years. In August 2009, after TTC for over a year and never having regular periods in my life (anywhere from 28 days to skipping a month and different each time), I found out that I have mild PCOS and a hypothyroid. My doctors put me on Metformin for the cysts and Levothyroxine for the thyroid. Has anyone else had this same combination of medical issues with a success story? After 6 weeks, a blood test showed that my thyroid level went too far the other way, so I've been about a week and a half on a decreased dose. I know I've had one m/c for sure, and they said it was a blighted ovum, but now that I've done some research, I wonder if I've had at least two others. There's no way I'll ever know now because I didn't test, but I've decided that if I have I have pregnancy symptoms, I'm testing and not waiting. I don't know how long to wait before I ask my OBGYN about Clomid and for an u/s to see if the cysts are gone. I just had two 38 day cycles in a row, which can't be good for ttc. Do I wait one more? Do I wait four more weeks until I have to go for another blood test and hopefully hear that the thyroid is between 1 and 2? Would an OPK even make sense since my cycle is so long? I don't want to get too anxious, but I don't want to wait too long for the next step, either. I'm 31 and DH is 35, and we would like a large family if God will allow. Thanks for any advice/encouragement anyone can give on this situation! GL to everyone!

Out of all these pages of posts and yours was the last one I came to that I could positively say something about-lol. I can't give you a success yet as I am still TTC but we did have one loss since I had my thyroid taken out (cancer) last year. Since I had to take radiation, we had to wait an entire year from the LAST dose to start trying again and so we've been trying for 6 mos now, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer when my son was a few months old so I know the worries you have that it could be causing you conception problems. I cut my own Synthroid b/c I am on 300 and that is a l o t and I read that hyperthyroidism can cause miscarriages, too. I am also polycystic and it was one of those cysts that claimed my left ovary and tube. Coincidentally, it was also the side that burst due to an ectopic pregnancy (it had been repaired afterward), so the side I do have, I'm hanging on tight to! I had miscarried before my thyroid was removed but I still took it as a sign that I should think about quitting (we are in our mid-thirties) but really want just one more (isn't that what they all say-haha). I'm holding on to hope for this month but if it doesn't happen I'm not sure how long we'll keep it up. :truce:

That's my story - I'm happy to be here and to get to know you all :hi:

Yet another update: DH returned from deployment as expected. I had lost 32 lbs, and cycles were more regular. DH has since left the military and we have moved. Have a new doctor who is fantastic, who doesn't believe the entire problem is my PCOS. Working on figuring out what it's going to take to get us there! Currently trying Dexamethasone CD 5-9, and getting DH an S/A (finally!). Assuming that comes back normal, next step is HSG.

In case you don't know me or my story, here's the abbreviated version:

I'm Barbara, DH is Jeff. We're both 33. Been NPP for two years now, off BCP since Oct '07. We started actively TTC fall of '08. Bloodwork last spring came back fine. Got our first BFP June '09 only to have an early term m/c. Waited until Sept to start TTC again, then another m/c last week.

Waiting for my next cycle for full recurrent m/s panel and u/s. Gut feeling is LPD. Hoping to get some answers soon.

I guess I'm hanging out more in here lately because the high turnover rate in TTC room is really frustrating.

Update 5/2010: Saline ultrasound (CD9)showed good lining, no interfering fibroids and good follies. M/c panel came back ok, but irregular thyroid numbers. Endocrinologist reran tests and numbers were fine. TTC again starting in April, taking progesterone supplements.

Hi all, thought I would share my story as everyone else has. My name is Shannon I'm 30 and my DH is 31. He finally gave the OK to try this January. :D I started charting in Dec. and in Jan it looked like I didn't O, but since that turned into a bad month with different waking times I didn't think much of it. My dh got sick as well so there was no chance in dtd when I should have O'd either. I started my cycle on Jan 31 and it looked like I may have O'd in Feb. I test BFN. Get bloodwork done since I had an apt and that came back negative. Beginning of April I made an apt w/ an RE as it started to look like I may have PCOS. He diagnosed me with anovulation and set me up w/ an apt for the next day for an u/s and bloodwork. My u/s looked normal I guess and after b/w results I began provera since it didn't look like my cycle was going to come. I finally got af after a freaking 84 day cycle on April 24 and went in for cd 3 b/w on tuesday. Today I'm on cd 6 and have begun clomid. My hubby is freaking out b/c he's scared of multiples :( but twins run in his family so even w/o clomid there is that chance. His dad is a twin and his half bro had twins... The weird thing is I used to have very irregular periods when I was younger, but haven't in the longest, so the last cycle came out of nowhere. :( Here's wishing all of us here get our :bfp: :)

Hey Girls!

I've never posted, but have been reading the forums for a number of months now.

I'm 25 and my sweet husband is 36. We've been married since Sept 2008 and have been TTC since Dec. 2009. I got off birth control Nov. 2009 for the first time in 4-5 years following a LEEP procedure for pre-cancerous cervical cells via HPV. Neither of us have previous children. I've been textbook regular for 28-30 day cycles my entire life except once when I was 16 (I was training athletically at an elite level at the time) and once last month (38 day cycle while TTC - what a TEASE!).

DH has a history of difficulties with his "system" including varicocele surgery in adolecence, hydrocele surgery about 4 years ago, and was diagnosed last year with a pituitary cyst/testosterone imbalance. He's been taking testosterone injections bi monthly since then. In February 2010 he stopped taking his injections when his endocrinologist's PA mentioned that it would lower his sperm count. They immediately put HIM on clomid (to raise his counts - but didn't do a baseline count first - I thought not doing a baseline was bizarre). After 3 cycles of Clomid, he will have a count taken next week and his hormone levels tested again as well.

I go in for testing in June. I'm going to ask specifically for thyroid testing (a lot of issues on my paternal side) and Hep B Antigen testing. I was vaccinated for Hep B as a child, but underwent extensive blood testing after being approved as a bone marrow donor match a few months ago. Tests came back showing positive Hep B antigens (what?! - I've only had two sexual partners my entire life, have never used drugs or had a tattoo AND as I mentioned previously have been vaccinated for Hep B). This is a result that is often falsely positive, however.

Whew.

I got a phone call from a sweet girlfriend from college last night who told me that after trying since Dec (just like us - she doesn't know we're trying) she and her DH are 13 weeks along! I could not possibly be more happy for her, OR more FRUSTRATED for me and my DH.

I realize many of you have been trying much longer than we have, but the arrival of a period each month after trying, trying, trying to have a positive outlook for a BFP test is really wearing on me!

Thanks for your ear. Sorry to rant. Any ideas yall have are always appreciated.

Some of you may know me from the TTC main room...I sorta haven't joined here because I feel like all this time we haven't been "trying" just waiting. I guess after 21 months of NPP and no BFP I qualify as struggling.

We went off BC in August 2008 (I was on Nuvaring). I started charting in March 2009 and found this site about that time. I started noticing my cycles getting longer and longer and was increasingly frustrated by my lack of O. Sometimes I think genuine CH would be as good as a BFP!

In August 2009 after a round of blood tests by my OB/GYN she determined that my Prolactin levels were too high (41 when the should be like, 10?) At first she was thinking of the main cause for most women, a growth pressing on my pituitary and was about to order an MRI (which I hate). Then she mentioned "since you're not on an anti-psychotic" That's where I stopped her and said, but yes, I AM on an anti-psychotic (for my Bipolar). She was like, huh, I guess you are and told me to schedule an appt after I got my psychiatrist to take me off of it. Just shows how much we should advocate for ourselves!

So after nearly a year of trying to convince my psychiatrist of this he FINALLY has agreed to take me off of it. I have titrated down and been without it for a week. He also put me on another med that is not known to raise prolactin in the blood and I think this is really helping me stay stable.

So I guess now I should schedule with my Ob/Gyn and see what's what.

Hi.
I started TTC again last year, but had some issues, so we decided to wait. While TTC at the start of this year I started to realize I was in pain, and it rapidly got worse. Right now I have no actual diagnosis, it's "suspected adenomyosis" but until they get the pain down, they aren't concerned about determining what "it" is. I'd need an exploratory surgery to rule out endo to make sure that's in fact not what it is. We hope the pain will be dull enough soon to really try. I;m supposed to start trying in Sept either way, but right now I'm on hormones in an attempt to get the pain down. If the pain goes away, I can stop the hormones and start, but no luck yet!

I have never added my story to this thread... mostly bc I didnt want to take the time to type it all out- hahahah. Where to start....

My periods have NEVER been regular since the day they started when I was 11. I had 3-4 a year and that's it. So, I always kinda figured it would be hard to have a child. I just had that feeling from a young age, ya know?

When I was 22, in 2003, I had my first OB/GYN appointment ever and was diagnosed at that time with PCOS. The Dr did some blood work to confirm it, but it was pretty clear. I have a pretty classic case of PCOS... male pattern hair growth/loss, weight gain, absence of menstruation, excess androgens, excess estrogen, insulin resistance, oily skin, skin discolorations, skin tags, elevated blood pressure, and cysts on ovaries. She started me on BCP right away to start regulating my cycle. I was on BCP until a month before I got married in Dec of 2006.

My first cycle after stopping the BCP started two days into my honeymoon (not the first withdrawal bleed, but actual AF.) We weren't trying, but we also weren't always using protection either. We found out on Feb 13th of '07 that I was pregnant! I was excited, Aaron was scared out of his mind! hahaha Everything seemed to be progressing normally. I even had to get some maternity clothes a few weeks later bc I was so uncomfortable in my regular clothing. At my first u/s appointment (11 weeks) we found out I had a missed miscarriage. It was DEVASTATING. I named the baby Jonah Dominic, which means "a dove belonging to God." I had a horrible time dealing with the loss and, long story short, made a serious attempt on my life at the end of June. I took 90+ blood pressure pills, wrote a note to my family, went to bed and did not expect to wake up. God totally did a miracle and saved my life. I honestly should have died or AT LEAST had some major organ damage. I didn't. I DID have a stay in a mental hospital and it was honestly the best thing that could have happened. MORAL OF THIS PART OF MY STORY: it is so important to deal with the loss of a child, even if it is an early loss and people around you think you should just 'get over it.' I did not let myself grieve and that was the worst thing I could have done.

Moving on... I started temping in july of '07 and found right away that I had wacky cycles. I called my Dr and got some blood work done and also got her to give me metformin. She wanted to just throw me on clomid, but I knew (with the help of some APA friends) that would not be a good idea. With PCOS, the first thing one should do is get on Met ASAP. So, I have been on Met since july or aug of '07.

Shortly after this I started bleeding..... and bleeding... and bleeding. Seriously, 65/70 days I was bleeding. At one point I was bleeding so heavily that I was using a DIAPER as a pad. We found that somewhere in all that bleeding I had a chemical pregnancy. Shocked the hell out of me. That was in September. I continued to bleed through september and october. In november it stopped and I ovulated. I again got an early BFP (9DPO, I think) that turned into a negative a few days later. That time I had to induce a m/c with provera. Then, once again, I was bleeding. It went on, and on, and on. During this time I changed OBs THREE TIMES in hopes to find just one that would help me. Ya.... that didn't happen. In Jan of '08 I was scheduled to get an u/s (bc I demanded it) to check for endometriosis, but our insurance ran out right before I had it :ohno: So, I continued to suffer with this horrible bleeding and pain that was getting progressively worse. In March, I had yet another chemical pregnancy and at that point decided it was time to avoid pregnancy until I could get someone to help me figure out what was wrong with my body.
Which brings me to April '08. I had been having the heavy bleeding off and on for a long time at that point, but one day I started bleeding so heavily that I passed out at work. I was taken by ambulance to the hospital where I was passing HUGE clots. Clots so big my cervix was actually dilated to a 2 to be able to pass them. :ohno: But, in the ER all they have to do is stabilize you and then they can send you home. So, by the end of the day I was still NO WHERE. My DH found out about this low cost clinic in town and made me an appointment. This Dr was VERY concerned and wanted to do some tests- FINALLY! A Dr who wanted to figure this out! I was prescribed provera to stop the bleeding and had an endometrial biopsy a few days later. BTW- they hurt like a MoFo! hahaha

A couple weeks later I got the devastating news that I had Complex Endometrial Hyperplasia. It is a condition that is precancerous. I was told at that time that I would take provera for 21 days and then stop for 7 to get a withdrawal bleed and repeat this for three months. If the hyperplasia was not gone after this I would have to have a hysterectomy. This was a totally old school Dr that did not have a clue about the new studies concerning CEH.... In three months (aug '08) I had another biopsy and there was absolutely no change in the condition. I started freaking out thinking I was going to have to have a hysterectomy. Thank GOD there was a different OB treating me that day! He knew of this med called MEGACE and told me it is a new treatment that he did not know a lot about, but I should try it first. Megace is a cancer medication.... it made me feel like SH!T and I lost a lot of hair. While on the megace, we got insurance again (through my new job at the time) and I made an appointment with an OB/GYN/RE. I saw him in nov '08 and had yet another biopsy. This new Dr had treated two other women with CEH in the last year and both of them had the CEH resolve and got PG. I was so excited... until I got the biopsy results. It was WORSE. The lab could not tell if it was atypical or cancerous and I had to have surgery (D&C) to get a larger sample to make sure it was not cancerous. I also started taking the highest dose of megace and he upped my metformin to 2000mg. THANK GOD- it was not cancerous, but still very serious. Atypia means it is just one step below cancerous... I continued the megace and metformin until march '09 when I had yet ANOTHER biopsy. THE CEH-A WAS TOTALLY GONE! No trace of it at all! HOORAY!

Now the baby making was on full force! 150mg clomid for 5 days in the first cycle- no viable follies. Tried it again- same outcome. 150mg for EIGHT days- had 1 slow growing follie that made a VERY weak ovulation. I was planning to do ovarian drilling until we had to change insurance plans to Kaiser which meant I had to start all over again. *sigh* I did all the paperwork and initial appointments with Kaiser in sept and oct of '09 and thought we were moving right along. Until the the dreaded semen analysis. My DH had one done in July with the previous insurance but we never got the results. Come to find out... it was HORRIBLE- 1.5 mil TOTAL, ugh. They repeated it- 500,000 TOTAL. He started on Clomid, 50mg a day for THREE MONTHS STRAIGHT. In January '10, his s/a was a little better as far as mobility and such, but was still only 1.5 mil total. We decided to go ahead with an IUI- or at least that was the intention. I started on injectable medication and was just SURE it would work. ummm.... nope. The dr estimated that I had 75 +/- small follies after stimulation. Because of my severe PCOS, I had lots of follicles to stimulate but bc so many were stimming none of them were growing anywhere NEAR large enough. I was told at that point that it would be near impossible to get me to stim even for IVF w/o having a severe risk of OHSS. Plus, due to my weight it would be near impossible to even get to my uterus through my fat (at my ovaries hide behind my uterus making it even harder.) I was told to "try to get on Biggest Loser bc I have such a compelling story" or look seriously into weight loss surgery. I REALLY wanted to do biggest loser, but DH would not have it. He said he did not want to be a part from me for that long- Grrrr. So, I started the process for weight loss surgery.

On April 12th '10 I started the pre-op diet and did really well, but I Still decided to go ahead with weight loss surgery. On June 21st I had the vertical sleeve gastrectomy ('the sleeve') where they take out 80% of my stomach leaving a small sleeve of stomach. I have lost 110 lbs total. DH has continued on the clomid since his IF urologist said it can take up to a year to see the full results from the clomid, until recently. He did his latest s/a and it shoed only 200,000 swimmers- NO GOOD. He did some research and found out SSRIs can cause MFI. SO he stopped taking his prozac and we will check again in december to see if going off the SSRIs has helped. FXed! He has also lost about 35 lb so far, but has a lot more to lose. The more he loses the better it is for the swimmers as well. I just made my post surgery goal weight an dhave been cleared to NPP! Hooray! We should be clread for medical intervention in December
I feel really good and hope and pray losing all this weight will make a difference in my fertility. I know FOR SURE, when I do get PG (thinking positive here!!) I will be so much more healthy. My risk for pregnancy induced hypertension, gestational diabetes and much more will be reduced. And I will be able to be a better/more healthy mother as well. :-)

*Phew* that was a long story... HAHAHA

Your story is intense, emotional and amazing. I have been through the ringer myself, but not nearly as bad as you. I wish you luck on your journey to getting healthy and pregnant!

On a personal note. The chronic pain from the adenomyosis is severly and quickly coming back after each cycle and is taking longer to see a dcrease in symptoms. I'm doing a hail mary and going on Seasonique to see if the small amount of hormone during they cycle will help. If not, it looks like a hysterectomy is going to happen in December. I am blessed to have one child, and that just may be all the blessings I get in this lifetime. I know I can always adopt in the future, but I si wanted to have a second baby. At this point, I am also concerned about loosing my husband. We can't bed at all b/c the pain is so intense. At some point he will need that in his life. As of now, my pro list for no hysterectomy is diminishing rapidly, but that doesn't make the choice easier.

No it's not wrong to want one of your own. I wish none of us had to go thru ttc. My prayers are with you and your DH. I hope someday it will turn out as you are wishing. :hugs:

I am not sure that this is write place for me to be posting but i just joined this website at the recommendation of my sister who used it when she was having miscarrages. That is not my issue, but I have been feeling really sad and overwhelmed and thought i should give this a chance.

I am 30 and have been diagnosed with PCOS since i was 17. I am atypical as I am thin with minimal hair growth, no blood glucose issues. I was married April 09 and we went off the pill feb 2010. in the beginning we weren't exactly trying just not full on trying. But by november of 2010 we were trying. My cycles can be long up to 30 - 50 days depending. Some months I just won't even get a positive ovulation at all. But I still wanted to see if I was going to be able to do this on my own. Negative...after getting incredibly frusted trying to figure out of the are going to ovulate between day 11 or 25 and trying to have sex around that time it gets pretty stressful. I finally went back to my dr in september and she said yup on the months that your cycle is > 33-35 days you probably don't have a viable egg released. My last ultrasound on this cycle performed on CD 12 showed my largest folical was 7mm way to small. my progesterone level was low on day 21 and I never got a positive ovulation. Plan is that I am going to wait until i get my period however long that takes, today I am cycle day 30 and start clomid on day 3 100 mg x 5 days. This will be my and my husbands first round with treatments. Just nervous and scared about this road ahead of us. I know I am young and have plenty of time. its nice to know that other people are going through the same things I am. any recommendations would be great! I am excited to be here.

I am 30 and hubby is 35.I have PCOS, high blood presure, and I tell you what I can grow a mustach, goati and a beard, lol,got to laugh at that when i kiss hubby on the back he unstands what the poking hairs feels like.

Anyway we been togther for 10 years and married for 7 come halloween. We never used protection and kept hoping for the best. Cause even when we were not trying, trying, it was still disappointing. We had his swimers checked and they were great, i knew it was me. Both are moms passes away 6 mth apart,I'm the oldest grandchild and the last to make a greatgrandchild. Hubby wants kids so bad it make my heart hurt. I feel like a failure as a wife for not being able to give him the family he longs to love.

We have finely said lets go to the doc and see what will happen on the 24th of last month. Doc put me on provera for 10 days, i start 3 days after that on CD5 I started 50mg clomid, on the 27th we went for the U/S and he found 2 follies( spelling bad) one was 17.3 and the other was 20.5. He say i should release this weekend, then the bloodwork on 4th to see if i did. I just don't know where to look, who to ask.

It really is alot of emoitions rolling around in a bucket, it seem you never know which one is going to pulled out or when.

Hoping all work out for everyone.

Hello. I am new to the message boards. I thought this would be the best place to get help/advice for my issue. I will start with a bit of background info as you suggest.

I had been on BC since 1997, until recently (March 2011). Doctor took me off b/c I wanted to try and conceive. I have had multiple issues with BC throughout the last 16 years. They tell me it's b/c I had been on it for so long. I had to change pill types about 8 times and even tried Depo for a year. My periods had always been irregular. My last OB did exploratory surgery and found there was a great deal of scar tissue and a few cysts on my ovaries. He removed the cysts, but left the tissue. The surgery caused even more scar tissue. I had another surgery in 2010 to remove my appendix. The physician saw that I had a huge cyst, but neglected to get it taken care of at that time.

Jump to 2011: After coming off of BC, my first month was horrible. I stayed on for almost 20 days. At this point, my (new) OB decided to do a vaginal ultra sound. He was at a loss for words due to the amount of scarring that had taken place. At was extremely upset that earlier physicians had done nothing to correct the issues I was having. He immediately scheduled me for an HSG (think this is what it was called). Although the pain that comes with these is horrible, I survived. It showed good flow. He then scheduled me for another exploratory surgery. With this surgery, he cleaned up most of the scarring, removed a few cysts, and took my right tube. He wanted to take the left, but thought that it might have a chance.

Jump to now (Nov 2011): I now have BV infections every month. He says, "they are just bad luck". Everything should clear up. I am worried about further scarring due to these. I had only had a few in my lifetime, until now. I have been trying since surgery to get pregnant and have yet to do so. For the BV, I have taken 3 cycles of the meds for this with no end in sight. I am worried that I will not conceive ever.

I joined to get advice on everything I can and need to do, to try and conceive asap. I am now 32 years old and honestly don't want to get pregnant after next year.

Looking forward to everyone's help,
=)

I too have very similar symptoms. Conceived our son almost 4 years ago one first try using OPK. Now ~ four years later we have been trying for 8 months, get LH surges each cycle with OPK. Progesterone levels indicate that I am O and recent HSG was normal. However, each month after I O about 4 days later I will have mild lower back pains and mild cramps on my right side. MD suspects endo and wants to do a laparoscopy if we don't conceive in the next two cycles. May I ask about your symptoms of endo? Am trying do some research before next visit.
